Mrs. Cop recruits Lee Ki-kwang, Park Yong-woo

We’ve got more detectives reporting for duty in SBS’s upcoming police investigative drama Mrs. Cop, which stars Kim Hee-ae as a squad leader in the violent crimes division. The drama comes from the PD of You’re All Surrounded, which had a similar focus on one team of detectives, with a veteran team leader and a bunch of rookies he had to whip into shape. Somehow I think Kim Hee-ae will be even scarier as a boss (did you see her as the piano teacher in Secret Love Affair?).

Idol-actor Lee Ki-kwang (Me Too Flower, My Princess) is considering an offer to join Kim Hee-ae’s team as the maknae detective. Aw, I’m sure he’ll be adorable. Lee Ki-kwang hasn’t acted a ton, but he’s got a really bubbly screen presence that works for supporting characters. He played a uniform cop in Me Too Flower, so I guess this time he graduates to detective status.

Park Yong-woo (Spring, Hwayi) is also being courted to play a veteran detective. The character started out alongside Kim Hee-ae as her colleague, but was promoted ahead of her early on, and is now a section chief while she remains a team leader.

They’ll be joining squad members Sohn Ho-joon (Trot Lovers), who plays a special-forces-trained detective, and Lee Hana (Unkind Women), who’s up to play a police university grad with exemplary grades. Hopefully we’ll get some more character and plot information to find out what sets this drama apart from all the other investigation dramas that we have right now (so, so many). Though maybe the only real hook they need is Kim Hee-ae kicking ass.

Mrs. Cop follows High Society in August.

Kikwang is quite decent at acting, definitely not one of the idol 'foot actor' types. And his role is small anyway.

but really, none of the B2ST members who act are bad, all 3 who acted did well in their roles.

Kim Hee-ae alone is a reason for me to check out this drama but the supporting cast looks solid too.Kikwang had a really nice bubbly presence in the dramas I have seen him in, and always did a good job acting wise so I'm looking forward to see him back in this field.

yeah, Beast or B2st or however they spell their name, is one of those rare idol groups whose acting members have all done well, not a single dud performance among the lot.

And Lee Ki-kwang is the one I've seen the least of, but he does seem charming and well able to perform and emote. If Twenty Years Old is anything to go by, he'll make an adorable romantic lead too (far, far superior to the kid from Exo Next Door).

I don't care what it is, I just really want Park Yong-woo to be cast in something soon! It's been so long since I've heard real casting news besides speculations concerning a movie that dropped him. I hope he's just been taking a break and not in a slump.

Good cast so far.

I didn't watch Blood, bit I do miss the younger Lee Ji-hoon who played secretary Jo In-sung in You're The Best Lee Soon Shin.
Love to see an offer for something like this to go out to him as well.

Is it just me? but I think many tall idols( even actors) often get roles. Kikwang is relatively short so here comes his disadvantage, I am afraid. Please drama God, give him a chance!!

I've been waiting for kikwang's drama for so long. His last proper drama series was in 2011. He's almost on god's gift last year but cube turned it down on last minute. I hope he takes this it. I miss seeing him in dramas
