Sung Joon and UEE pucker up for High Society’s poster shoot
by girlfriday
Yup, Chaebol’s Daughter has changed its title again, but on the upside, High Society is substantially better than the totally nondescript True Romance. Whatever it’s called, this drama has picked one hell of an inaugural promo run: The first set of stills feature a gussied-up Sung Joon (Hyde, Jekyll, Me) and UEE (Ho-gu’s Love) about to lock lips for the drama’s poster shoot. Whoever thought to start a drama shoot with kisses is an evil genius. I might send a fruit basket.
Never mind that technically, UEE’s character is a chaebol heiress who hides her true identity and poses as a poor girl working part-time jobs. Or that Sung Joon’s character is a jaded guy from a dirt-poor family with a chip on his shoulder about the filthy rich. The poster concept seems to ignore the drama’s entire premise in favor of fancy duds and a literal take on High Society, not that I’m paying close attention to anything but lips.
The new SBS Monday-Tuesday drama comes from the team behind A Warm Word and co-stars Park Hyung-shik (What’s With This Family) and Im Ji-yeon (Obsessed) in a melodrama about whether love can conquer money.
The heroine wants to find true love with someone who doesn’t see her as just her bank account, and the hero doesn’t believe in love at all. Angst is sure to ensue, but maybe now that we have the assurance that they’ll kiss and make up, the pain doesn’t seem so bad.
High Society follows Heard It Through the Grapevine in June.

Jesus Christ they look so high class (thus, High Society?) and Sung Joon is rocking it. Uee, too, looks mighty pretty.
Still not digging the story but I'm going to watch just for the sake of these two!

Probably!! She's still very pretty and I can assure you a lot of men would still pick her anytime to be their ideal girl. She looked pretty and cute when she was much younger but as she matures, she sheds off some of her baby fats ( as you mentioned chubbiness) and who wouldn't! I think she lost weight because her former co-star was so thin and the contrast with his physique would be too much. She admitted she was stressed by it during a press conference. I've also noticed she tends to lose weight when she's working hard! With such a hectic lifestyle like hers, it's no wonder she stays slim but she is still one of the most attractive actresses I've ever seen !

I'm hoping this show will be another intense drama. I'm still waiting a love story that turns to very dark, sexy, intense and full of surprise like in Que Sera, Sera and What Happen in Bali. Getting tired of romcoms.

I love the plot! We always see a lot of cold chaebol heirs as male leads so it's nice to see things reversed here. Changing topics to UEE, I've never seen UEE in a drama before, but she certainly looks the part of the chaebol heiress. Not just in her looks, but in the way she carries herself and her expressions. It'd be fun seeing such a seemingly high class lady trying to juggle all sorts of menial odd-jobs.
I've seen Sung Joon in two dramas ("White Christmas" and "Shut Up: Flower Boy Band") and loved him in both. He's a great actor (not to mention positively eye candy). Like the premise was enough to have me checking in, but now you throw Sung Joon too? Now I definetely can't miss it...fingers crossed that it ends up a great drama? I haven't been this excited about a drama in such a long time. Makes me a bit apprehensive. Please be good, please be good...

Watch her in Ojakgyo Brothers and you will be surprised! I'm sure you will like her performance. She received the best new actress award for that drama at the 48th Beaksang Arts Award and KBS drama award in 2011-2012

THIS really works for me. I'm a UEE fan, but not much of Sung Joon's. But THIS really works for me. The tone of it all and the title "High Society." PERFECT blend! Yeah!

You must be kidding! She's a beautiful and classy lady, inside and out and she's from a very nice family. She certainly doesn't look cheap like some Korean actresses I've seen.

To be honest, I hate the melo genre. It hurts a lot. But what do I do about Sung Joon oppa? How can he be so awesome? Ah I've only seen him playing sweet, swoon-worthy roles before. So, this one may be a welcome note for a change. I do like UEE but if I follow this one, it'll be for oppa. Oh Hyung-sik oppa too :)
