Shin Mina considers new SBS drama about single life

Yay, Shin Mina might be headed back to television this summer. Sadly it’s not a reunion with her Arang and the Magistrate co-star Lee Jun-ki, but really I’m just glad to have her back in dramaland at all. It’s been three years since Arang and she was sticking to movies for a while — Gyeongju with Park Hae-il and My Love My Bride with Jo Jung-seok — but she’s considering an offer to headline a new SBS drama called Will You Have Dinner With Me.
The project is a webtoon adaptation, which seems like a given these days. The original is a romance manhwa of the same name by Park Shi-in, and the adaptation will be penned by Go Yoon-hee of the cable series Greatest Marriage and movies Love Exposure and Purpose of Love. The webtoon is about a man and a woman who are connected through eating, and a secret relationship develops. It sounds a little like Let’s Eat in theme, which could be promising.
The drama is described as a realistic series about twenty- and thirtysomethings, centering on the work and love lives of people who are struggling to find jobs and are so busy living that love, dating, and marriage are difficult. Shin Mina is being courted to play a temporary worker in search of a salaried job, who is so sincere and uncalculating in everything she does, that she always gets the short end of the stick because of it.
If the concept is food-themed, we might catch a glimpse of Shin Mina’s epic gumiho eating skills in action. I hope it’s going to be a show with a comedic bent, because Shin Mina is best when she’s bringing the funny.
Will You Have Dinner With Me is being produced by the company behind Empress Ki and Mr. Back, and is being planned for the Wednesday-Thursday slot following Mask (which follows Girl Who Sees Smells). That pushes the Kim Eun-hee drama Signal back from its original airdate, and Will You Have Dinner With Me is due to premiere in August.

So now, from Mon-Tue, Wed-Thu, Friday, and even Sat-Sun I have dramas to look forward till autumn...

oooh I love her, she's a fantastic actress and deserves way more credit than fans sometimes give her for the actual acting. A pretty face alone wouldn't have made Gumiho the icon she became.
I'm so happy she's returning to dramaland - but get her a good leading man! I would love a pairing of her with Kim Jae-wook but there's no hope in hell of that guy ever getting a lead role in this life, is there?

As someone who survived Greatest Marriage (there are a few of us here, lol), i'd say there are worse dramas.. (my affection for Park Si Yeon helps). Have to admit almost all characters are detestable, except maybe for Pedro? But cant hate them tho, ive known people like them in RL.

I managed to finish Greatest Marriage, too, purely because of Park Si Yeon. I had high hopes before it started but that ended up diving straight into the ground after the writer made all the other characters detestable. That's why my interest in this new drama dropped just a tad after hearing it's being written by the same writer. Hopefully it goes better this time because I would love to see Shin Mina back on my TV screen again.

I've been hoping Shin Min Ah would make her way back to dramaland. I want either Ji Chang Wook or Seo In Guk to work with her. Either one of them would be amazing with her because they both, like Shin Min Ah, have an adorable charm. If the drama has an ensemble cast of actors in their twenties and thirties, both SIG and JCW could get cast. I'm up for a bromance as well.

Now ... 1. The writer of greatest marriage ?? ottoke !! I dropped the drama half way thought... 2) If Shin Min Ha says yes we need a good leading man,I beg you, please... 3) seeing the description I would have thought of it as a cable drama rather then a SBS one.

This webtoon strongly reminds me of Gu Man's Shan Shan Come and Eat/Boss and Me. I can't be the only one who sees the similarities at least in the synopsis. If they indeed are similar, I'd be so happy. SSCaE is one of my all-time favorite Chinese dramas and I'd love to see a Korean rendition of it.

/wheezes I loved the webtoon so much, I'm super excited for the drama!!! I'm not sure if Shin Mina fits Dohee, but I do like her as an actress, so we'll see. I can't wait to see who they'd pick as Haegyung--he has to FIT for me or it'll take great acting to convince me!

This sounded intriguing until I read "same production company behind Empress Ki". Empress Ki was horrible. If I have to watch another character like that chinese prince again, ugh. (and no, it was not Changwook, because I have liked another drama he has been in. It was the character Changwook had to play)(and no please don't put Changwook with Mina! I don't see chemistry there at all)
