Park Seo-joon offered leading role in Chaebol’s Daughter

It’s only been a few weeks since Kill Me, Heal Me ended, but Park Seo-joon is already in talks to return in a new drama. Works for me, since I never ever want him to go away. Park has been offered his first headlining role on a Big 3 show (he’s had a starring role before on cable as the adorable noona-killer who romanced Uhm Jung-hwa in Witch’s Romance); he’s now considering the new SBS Monday-Tuesday drama Chaebol’s Daughter.
The new series comes from PD Choi Young-hoon and writer Ha Myung-hee of A Warm Word, in which Park Seo-joon played a supporting character. I can see why it’d be a favorable reteam all around, since that drama was well-received and Park Seo-joon has only garnered more love for the subsequent roles he’s done.
It’s about a woman who hides the fact that she’s a chaebol’s daughter, because she wants to know for certain that she’s loved for her and not her money. Park Seo-joon is being courted to play the leading man who comes from a poor family. He’s a lowly assistant manager at one of the chaebol conglomerate companies, and though he was always respected because of his intelligence and his looks, he has a chip on his shoulder because of the way his poor parents were treated, solely for their lack of money.
He’s an extremely jaded man who believes that love is a carrot that rich people dangle in order to emotionally manipulate others. Gee, cynical much? He’s honed an animalistic instinct for whether or not something will be advantageous to him, and the second he determines that someone or something isn’t going to help him get ahead, he walks away mercilessly.
The drama will explore love, money, and humanity, and ask whether a wealthy heiress and a poor man can have a real relationship. It sounds a bit like Nice Guy with less amnesia. I don’t normally do melos about filthy rich people, but the cast might reel me in.
Chaebol’s Daughter is looking to air after Heard It Through the Grapevine on Mondays and Tuesdays in June.

If only there was an actress who has proven that she has a good "chemistry" with Park Seo-joon and that she can pull off the "secret chaebol daughter" as written by Ha Myung-hee and who isn't occupied at the moment ...

Someone mentioned Han Groo wanted to work with this writer and that may be why she was ok with letting the Vampire scholar offer be rescinded.

I really want this to be Han Groo...I was left unsatisfied with the ending of their couple in Warm Words...

I was hoping for a time jump (with the typical healing, growth and maturity) and to see them reconciled. They were may favorite couple also.

I read somewhere that Han Groo was considering this drama. If that's true this will be one hell of a drama. The actors don't really have much star power, but they have talent and most importantly this guy is YUM. *shallow*

@pogo - from what I've read on twitter she was offered the part, but since she had this one locked down and the agency couldn't confirm anything without the main leads being confirmed first, they said she never got it. I don't even know if that's the truth or just another rumor in kdrama land. God knows there are like 100 of them/day.

@Killian - if what you're saying is true, I can't believe Kim Ji-won had to turn down her first Big 3 main lead role......for a second lead role in a drama that isn't even going to begin filming until July!
(Girl Who Sees Smells would have ended by mid-June at the latest, ugh this missed opportunity for her....I hope she gets other chances. I'd kill to see her or Lee Yubi get the lead role in the next Answer Me instalment now).

@pogo shouldnt KJW get some respects for rejecting Girl Who Sees Smells even if it s a lead role as she already gave her promised to KES? KJW should get some credits here for keeping her promises and not jumping ship like the-girl-should-not-be-named.
i would love to see KJW gets a lead role. But her time will come esp if DoTS won big

@j2hr - this is late, but absolutely agreed. I was under the impression that there would be a gap of several weeks to a month between the filming of the two dramas.
but if recent reports of a June filming date on KES' drama are accurate, I really respect Kim Ji-won for avoiding even the slightest possibility of the kind of scheduling shenanigans pulled by she who must not be named.

I have liked all the writer's dramas so far plus I love Park Seo-Joon and he deserves a talented actress for this project. He could work with Han Groo or Baek Jin Hee (he had super chemistry with them) or he could act alongside Jung So Min who has already worked with the writer.

I think Han groo would be good since we already know they have chemistry together..ohh and I like the kim ji won suggestion they would be really awesome together I think. Witch's Romance!!
-Blew me away too in that role, and obviously in KMHM. He has great emotive range and a very expressive face. I think he will cross over to film soon enough so maybe we better enjoy the seeing him in dramas while we can (hopefully he will do both!) Great actor and he has that "it" factor IMO.

so true, he had some dramatic moments in KMHM and he pulled it off, although I still preferred him as the sunny, good brother not homme fatale. and he played that very conflict well too. hiding one half of his nature and disguising as the cheerful guy. He can indeed pull off even a cynical and jaded guy. before KMHM it would have been hard to picture.

Baek Jin Hee of course. They raised the nonsense drama to watchable Level and they became hot/popular after that. I'll always remember their piano kiss scene and how he run back to her home. He was so sweet and cute.

aww it was just yesterday when I first saw him in DH2 and really liked him in I summon you gold..! I finished watching that drama to know about him and baek jin hee's characters tbh! he can certainly play the douchebag role too
I remember trying to watch ep. 1 of Warm Words but dropped it... I think the infidelity thing turned me off.. i might watch again if its good...!

Kyaaa!! Park Seo-joon! On my screen again! Huzzah!! I love him most in comedies, but I will happily take what I can get. Besides whatever the genre is, PSJ is pretty much guaranteed to be great in it. Hope he signs on! And hopefully they also cast an equally good actress!

YES!!! PLEASE!!!!! I was so disappointed by the few scenes in Kill Me, Heal Me after the lead role in Witch's Romance I had to start Witch's Romance all over again after finishing Kill Me, Heal Me!!!
But please make it happy - not just a melo melo... some comedic elements should be included!! Park Seo-joon can be SOSOSOSO funny!!!
