Hi Quirkstine, I am watching exactly the same shows.... But I think I am more invested in Falling for Innocence coz I just felt SungJoon's character is really challenging - her being an orphan, her fiancé died, her job at stake with a new crazy boss...

Oh man
I am pretty tired so excuse me if I don´t make much sense. 3 days in Copenhagen, then at work full day till 1am, 3 hours of sleep and on the train now to Viljandi. Guess I´ll be offline till Monday again.

Obviously haven´t watched many dramas, had just enough time to watch Smelly girl, but... I am too scred of you know. I gotta gather some courage first.

I did watch some of that taiwanese drama Someone like you – was it someone here who recommended it once? Or mentioned it? Or maybe not... been checking back on open threads what was written but couldn´t find anything. Was it another website? I can´t remember. My mind is blank from loading up the photos and typing in notes washing my travel things and looking for the damn transport card for Tallinn pheef it is here dont worry. Worst thing is I had shoes with rather high heels and my feet got so swollen I couldn´t change into my other shoes! So I kept walking on heels and if you know the paving in Copenhagen, and how the smooth pavement is reserved for bikes, I couldn´t walk at all. I was in my socks all the way from Kastrup Airport check-in to my door in Tallinn. The taxi driver thought I had been robbed, seeing me without shoes. Real life drama, why don´t they use this somewhere?
Oh, I was talking about the taiwanese drama. Well, I don´t know. In parts it is really cheesy. But it is sort of....hot. Then again 4 (or is it more?) women in love with the same guy, oh cmon. And compensating [temporary] disability with him being rich. Dramas always do that. If there is some imperfection, make the character rich and/or have everyone worship him. But here, it is not THAT annoying. You shouldn´t present disabilities as something to be ashamed of and worth a scandal. And how exactly does money excuse them from being subjected to public shaming? Then if you are poor and have a disability you will be treated pretty much like you committed a crime? Ridiculous.

Anyway, I am adding a link to the dropbox with photos of Copenhagen. We visited 3 maritime museums - Royal Danish Maritime Museum, the actual Maritime Museum in Helsingor next to Kronberg castle, and Viking Ships Museum in Roskilde. I also made it to Andersens´ grave (that cemetary was the most gorgeous place ever, and so crowded! ) and Little Mermaid, well.... why were they selling mushrooms as souvenirs next to her though? Really...random. How is that connected?

anyway, I love reflections and worn surfaces so maybe to some of you my photos are boring. I think I am better with black-and-white than color.

Review-only post:

Smelly Girl All the way finished through episode 8! Still really loving the atmosphere and acting, but also still kind of unimpressed with plot. I am rather curious why they would comply with writing their own books although I am completely baffled as to why the doctor would decide to completely jeopardize the witness that he feels guilty over by giving a hint to the killer. Um?! And poor Yoochun!

Blood I cannot believe I stuck with this and actually completed it on time. This and Watchman have only shown me that I simply cannot give up on bad shows…yet somehow get to nervous with good shows and push of completing them for fear of disappointment. I thought I couldn’t be let down by Blood and yet WTF was that ending?! Twenty episodes and you just sort of drop storylines and assume we’ll fill in the blanks? Not ok. I’m also not OK with them killing my favorite character. Not at all. Also I didn’t expect huge medical accuracy but their medical explanations at the end were just ridiculous. It’s so clear the writer was in way over his/her head.

Missing Noir M I love the way this is shot and enjoy the characters still. I look forward to the new episodes but I’m also a little concerned that they’re making some of these stories overly convoluted to try and keep viewers shocked. Sometimes just having a well-told story is the most important. You don’t need a dozen twists to keep a viewer engaged. I also hope the main guys story is more realistic than the hidden backstory in Bad Guys.

Twenty I LOVE Kang Ha Neul. I love Kim Woo Bin. I’m pretty good with Junho too. I did not like this movie. I even went with a friend and apologized profusely afterwards. Neither of us were laughing or thought it was funny. I’m still a bit bitter about it.

Murphy’s Law of Love Still super cute, but with fifteen episodes to go I’m sure bad things will be coming.

Hwajung I started this not realizing the length and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go the whole time without falling behind, but I’ve been pretty sucked in. On the other hand, I really wish there were recaps because some of the political intrigue confuses me. I end up not being sure who was behind what or if events were real or fabricated or altered. I know he’s supposed to be evil in this one but I think I’m going to spend fifty episodes just feeling bad for our king.

I’m also super behind on Unkind Women so I need to figure out when I can mini marathon it. Also the subs weren’t full up for the latest The Lover episode but I will be watching that. Some of it is hit or miss for me but the parts that are funny truly make me laugh out loud – which I think is what I had been hoping for from Twenty.

Hey 4D,
exactly!!(Spoilers ahead) I didn’t get how they were serenely jotted down stuff in those diaries. Both her mom and the doc look so in control doing it too. why would the doc tell the murderer that the witness is alive? And how did he so easily access the Xray?
Murphy’s law is going great right now but I fear that it will drag in the middle. I hope not.

The X-ray i understand since all the stuff was sitting in storage (although what was he supposedly going on for that let him into a crime scene? I dint remember). But the way his victims seemed so collected and calm was rather creepy.

I know in Murphy that the ex will have to come back and I'm not looking forward to it. I love that there's so much cute rom com right at the beginning when in a lot if the kdramas it doesn't start until the middle.

@4D hi :)

*just a warning for those who haven't seen Blood's finale and Smelly Girl episode 7-8...spoilers ahead...

I agree with you about Blood and Girl who sees Scents (GWSS). With Blood, the things that happened in the last 2 episodes had me feeling WTF is going on with the writer??? Like there's so many things left hanging and I don't get why the writer would even want to kill off Hyunwoo and having Jisung running angryly to Dr.evil just for a pointless fight. Then the finale episode disappointed me even further with that ending...not only did Jisung died, he somehow miraculously came back to life at the end. That ending confused me a lot...just wondering if anyone's able to explain the ending since I thought Jisung really was dead. Unless he's somehow reincarnated. Not only that, but what happened to the patients in Ward 2A which we never got to see? Did they recover or...? Sigh if anything, I gave Blood a chance from the start. It got better towards the middle only to leave me all disappointed at the end.

As for GWSS, same here. I thought Dr.Chun wanted to protect the witness so like you, I was completely baffled when he told the killer the clues that she's still alive. Unless it wasn't his intention for that clue to be figured out by the killer. Maybe he intended it for Officer Choi? Besides that, I can understand why Dr. chun's character was killed offoff since he'll be appearing in a new drama (Orange Marmalade</b) soon! :)

4D no need to apologize. You didn't spoil anything. I know you were talking about eps 8 :).

I'm also SO DISAPPOINTED with the ending of Blood :( felt like so many questions were left hanging :/ but do u think Park Ji Sang didn't really die, since Dr Jung mentioned that he might be able to live without a heart? so can they possibly take his heart out and he still lives? LOL! and seeing the way he fights the vamps in Kochenia i don't think he managed to become human either (so sad :( that was his ultimate aim since he started researching on VTH vaccine)

but overall i really love vamp plots so i followed through with this even though some acting was awkward and the pace of the show was really inconsistent 0.0 (but still, the show is such a disappointment on it's final aigoo)

@Geraldine

Ikr, I was so disappointed too. I love vampire genres so 2015's first vampire drama is such a disappointment. However, I'm most proud of actor Jung Haein here (he plays Hyunwoo). I've loved him as an actor since The Three Musketeers. Hopefully he gets more recognised in the future :)

As for Jisung, well I'm kinda thinking he didn't end up dying either because Rita didn't look all that surprised that Jisung appeared before her. The explanation about being able to live without a heart is so random....I felt like for the last 2 episodes the writer have given up on the drama because it wasn't getting high viewership. Sigh

Since you love vampire genres, are you planning on watching Orange Marmalade and Scholar Who Walks the Night too? :D

Hyun woo was the best part if the show. I liked him in Three Musketeers too although he didn't get that much screen time. He's adorable. I hope he gets more future roles and also some that are a tad more challenging.

And yay for vamp stories!!

0

Sorry for bumping in, but I also wanted to say how much I love Hyunwoo xD He's basically the main reason why I bothered to watch Blood at all, and not to mention Hyunwoo's character, IMO, is so much smarter than Jisang. Again, IMO, Hyunwoo is always very rational and thinks about everything through and through while still managing to be cute and funny and also squishy, but Jisang sometimes loses that rational stick and acts according to his emotion rather than logic. That is why I hated it so much when his character died... I mean why would you kill such a great character in that fashion? But alas, Jung Haein is definitely such a good actor! I also wish for him to get more recognition in the future!

0

YES YES! and orange marmalade is just icing on the cake with casting one of my fav child actors yeo jin gu! ;DD hopefully it won't live to become another disappointment ;O
as for scholar walks the night i'm so encouraged to see the main cast lineup haha! though Changmin's acting hasn't impressed me yet with his prev castings :o

0

Can I explain Blood? Can anyone? What I hate is that they didn't show things but just vaguely hinted at what would happen.

Jisung did die which is why our heroine was confused but if you remember his cells are like miraculously regenerative. In the final episide they said he could probably even live without a heart. So presumably he died and then the cells kept working...and when he died they collected what they needed to create the vaccine for the patients. All assumed. So annoying they don't show it, especially when they build up the personal story of the little girl and her dad. What I still dint understand is why they could only make a vaccine if he died - like why would decomposed blood removed from him not be the same?! And Hyun Woo I think was purely for emotionally impact. Grrrr.

In the other one I don't think the clue was for Choi because the initial clue was just said our loud - when would Choi hear it? And I know that guy is switching shows but I also think a big character needed to die in order to amp the tension and pressure.

@4D

Thanks for explaining Blood :) yeah I guess it makes sense with the 'miraculous regeneration' ability that he has. But it's still a bit of a far stretch for me to assume that, hence why the ending was unexpected. I still wished the writer could've shown us or even a voice over by Rita would've been fine about the ending instead of leaving gaping big holes for us to fill in. The issue with the last 2 episodes for me was that there were a number of unnecessary plot and scenes. Such as killing off Hyunwoo and Jisung running off to fight Dr.Evil just to name a few. They could've used those screen time for other important arras of the plot.

As for GWSS, I guess you're right, the shows does need to amp up the tension and move the plot forward. I am still interested in seeing how the writer explains Dr.Chun's intentions with regarding to the clue revealing to Chef Kwon though. I guess we'll just have to wait and see :) besides the mystery, I'm absolutely loving the cute romance between Choice and Oh Cho Rim❤

Welllllll it's only my attempt at an explanation. As everyone has realized, there really was nothing that was explained or shown to be resolved. Some people's comment even stated they thought the end was a dream sequence...but it didn't seem like that to me. And yeah the ending episodes were more like "scene-scene-scene" with not flow or real logic. The characters to were so inconsistent. Not that long before, he was telling her not to go murder our resident baddie because she was the on who taught him in his time of panic that it was best to wait for the right time for things and be logical. And then he freaks out and she says not to go to the bad guys because it's a trap and he says of course he won't and then he does. Just no. It seems like the writer was going for certain kinds of moments from other movies but not realizing those moments were great because they were culminations of character flaws or things like that. It's about things being hinted at and then suddenly hitting full force. But those moments have to really be set up well and this show was just all over the place. Sigh. That was a bit of a ramble - still I hope it was more coherent than the show ;)

As for GWSS, I agree that the romance is the best part. Those moments are what makes the show. Even when they're just working together, their chemistry is really fun. Also, I can't believe she just bolted after that kiss!

0

Hi LJH
Well, based on the BLOOD wrap up party, the writer confirmed it's a happy ending. Likely, ParkJi Sang "resurrected" due to his blood. As Dr Jung noted he could live or survive without a heart since his blood is special, "unique with its self vitality". Something to ponder:
1. Did his blood revive him after he was buried? Or did Dr Jung inject him so that Park Ji Sung can accomplish some impossible mission...
2. Was he aware that there were others infected and so, he sought them out in Kochenia?
3. Why didn't he make his presence known to Rita for the past 12 months? Is it because he wanna hide his presence to protect her?
4. And finally he appeared in front of her coz he has to fight off the bad guys...and well, I guess he just want to be reunited with her.
5. He didn't seem to appear as a vampire and yet he possessed remarkable strength in fighting off the bad vamps at the dark alley... Could it be that he has turned human but acquired additional strength from his special blood? In an earlier episode he did fight off the security guards and he claimed he was a good "fighter" to Dr Lee Jae Wook.

Regarding Blood:

The following is my rationalization on dramafever:

To me, the ending was VMT-01 (M for mutant) flipping off VBT-01 and anyone who assumed to understand its mutant powers based on knowledge of VBT-01.

Sunlight as dawn didn't seem all that lethal to Jason. Either that was due to his mutant virus or smog blocking out lethal wavelengths.

I think Dr. E was injected with VTH-17 prototype. He just dozed off at the end because it was such a emotionally and physically taxing day. Aging 40 years in a few hours couldn't be easy on the body. Old age and randomly dozing off.

The sad irony that Renfeld realized was VTH-17 couldn't be made without Jason. It could cure all the infected except for Jason, the only infected who really wanted to be cured.

Now that there is a cure, Jason is hunting vampires around the world to cure them. I had to look at the final minutes again but it seemed to me he injected a couple of the vamps during the fight. A fully functional VTH-17 may work like a regular medication and not incapacitate the receiver.

I like that the writer tried to keep everything as real as possible based on the premises. No divine intervention.

Renfeld is Hyun Woo's nickname given by dramafever Blood recappers.

Because Jason/Ji-Sang was rarely pushed beyond what was believed to be capable of VBT-01 infected, no one really knew and experimented to find out how different he was from the rest of the infected. Except for his immunity to vamp-kill cocktail. And that confusing Dr. Jung the Younger's hypothesis in ep. 20.

When Hyun Woo was killed off, I pretty much figured that almost all those long associated with the virus would be killed. Looking at the last episode, there wasn't much for Hyun Woo to do if he had lived.

With a better writer, things could be more clear and fluid. The entire drama felt like a philosophical discussion on morality and medical ethics using non-supernatural vampires.

On Sensory couple/girl who sees smell:
Yes, the recent revelation on the victims writing their own books confuses me. And why would the doctor gave a hint to the killer that the witness is still alive! That's just crazy.
I sorta like how they explain why the killer cannot identify faces. This is an actual condition but it's more like ppl with the condition have problem recognizing facial features not that the faces would morph around. There are too many characters with rare condition in this drama. Having said that, I'm totally enjoying this drama because of the cutesy.

Hwajung:
omg, there are so many things I don't understand. I really wish there's a site that recap and can explain the intricacy of the politics that's going on.

I actually think Dr Chun just wants to write a letter out of guilt, but didn't know that it got packed and sent to our dear Killer Chef. And also he wrote this before knowing that the Killer was his chef friend so I wonder if he regretted or remembered having wrote that letter in the first place lol. also, the hints *SPOILER ALERT!* he left in the diary felt like he wanted the police to find out instead. he left really subtle hints, but in the end our Killer Chef still managed to sieve it out :( But then again because of his Page 5 and Page 47 hints, i guess this can propel the story to move further? this feels more logical than having Killer Chef to suddenly flip his box of books and find the misplaced letter written by Dr Chun... right? HAHA

Also, anyone else slightly freaked out when Killer Chef opened the back of his library door to reveal the white enclosed room, to see Dr Chun sitting at the desk writing, after we all know him to be dead? I really freaked out for that few seconds before Dr Chun faded off and then realise that it was just Killer Chef's thoughts... oh my~

Yeah but the 5 and 47 hints would never have gotten to the police, it was just something he said to the murderer. Nobody else would have gotten the clues to figure it out.

No those books were fifth and 47th in their series so that's why he knew which pages to look at in the diary.

@Geraldine and 4D - Spoilers for Girl Who Sees Smells episode 7 and 8 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Maybe Dr. Chun was forcing the Chef to act and thought that he will trip up and get caught in the process? It still puts Cho Rim in danger; so yeah, I don't know. Lol. I do believe that it was not a random thing. There will be a good reason why Chun revealed the secret. A lot of us were baffled by how the murderer killed the wrong girl when he clearly saw the victim's face. And the writer explained that in episode 7 with a good reason. This seemingly stupid thing that Chun did will also have a hidden meaning (Hope so!). Btw, I'm enjoying this drama SO MUCH!! It's written, acted, and executed very well.

I didn't find the wrong girl overly surprising since the house was dark and the situation (name/automobile accident/age) were the same for the two girls and he was in a hurry. However, I was surprised at the explanation given. So I am hoping that there is an explanation for this too. Since it's the main storyline I think there's more thought put into it but I've been a little disappointed in some logic issues with the smaller crimes/mysteries so I remain a bit skeptical. Despite the sound of all that, I am a fan of this show and it's definitely one of the ones I really look forward to during the week. I hovered around the website until it was uploaded and then watched it immediately. Chun-bear is especially adorable.

0

am I the only one that has been suspecting the Chef has more things going around in his back, beside his problem with recognizing people's face?

so I think there might be another 'reason' for him to kill the 'wrong' person, not just because he failed to remember the victim's face...lol, mkay... I expect too much from this show.

0

Yeah I wasn't really expecting a "deeper" explanation for why he mixed up the girls. I just assumed the house was dark and he didn't look closely at the girl in the hospital since all the details matched and he wanted to do it quickly and get out of there.

I will have to check out the site mentioned as well. I think I have most of the people straight, or at leas their allegiances, but like...I sort of miss who actually attacked the silver caravan, etc. It does rather suck that he doesn't seem to have a single person who's really on his side.

Well I watched Blood and please don't feel bad for watching it. I think there is a big gap between the rooftop and final alley scene. The writer's fault or something was left out from the editing floor - but overall, I am happy with how the cast developed - especially Rita and ParkJiSang

Oh yeah, there's definitely a big jump between those scenes. It's just that the gap is when all the good stuff happens! They really drew out some unnecessary scenes and then didn't have time left for resolutions. Frustrating. I dunno, I wasn't even satisfied with the characters. I thought there were some inconsistencies and the growth didn't feel natural. I think this is mostly the script/directing though. I mean there were some nice moments but they felt like moments to me....not flowing storylines. Sorry to be all grumpy. I'm glad if people enjoyed it. DF had a billion fangirls in the comments who loved it (well, up until that ending lol).

Yeah I think the director was a bit lost as well. I think they needed more of a game plan. As was mentioned above, I think they were trying to make some philosophical/moral statements but those things need to be woven in well otherwise the storyline isn't grounded in anything. Philosophies need to be revealed through plot instead of tying to shoehorn the plot into a set philosophy. That wasn't phrased well but hopefully it makes sense. But I agree that if they'd had a set tone, this could have been so much better. In the beginning I actually thought they might try and be a bit tongue in cheek. Our lead I think was actually at his best when he had his smirky moments and a different setup would have been able to allow the director to coax out a better performance as well.

I agree! And it could have been so funny (imagine just a momentary scene of the two vamp minions stuck in customs on the way to Tennessee - that would have been hilarious).

Or if they'd had Dr. Chief of Hematology just sprint by the office in his boxers instead of doing a boring three minutes on 'you said you would if...".

Then the sitting around swirling wine could have been woven into snarky remarks about the villain and his 'lair' & it wouldn't have been so stupid.

Don't get me started, is basically what I'm saying. ::laugh::

I thought it was interesting how the depicted "face blindness" of the chef in Smelly Couple.
I have face blindness, and often when I look at people, their facial features don't change. I just don't recognize them as anyone I know. When I see my husband every morning I think, "oh, yeah. This is what you look like." I also am kind of taken aback every time I look in a mirror, since I don't look how I think I should. (I realized there is no way to portray this--so the changing features were a way to indicate this.)

This does answer the question why the killer saw the witness and then didn't realize he'd killed the wrong girl.

I also think the depiction in Smelly Girl is a bit inaccurate. I learn how the brain works, and from my understanding it's not that the face changes or anything, it's just hard to connect the dots between face and name.

I don't think it's really supposed to be that the face changes but more that features aren't recognized as distinctive so it's like looking at a million other faces. That's what I got anyway. Not that I think it's possible to accurately portray but I have bigger issues with the show (still enjoying it though).

But it's a thousand times better than the thing they did in Hannibal - where the witness only saw a face without ANY features, basically just a blank surface.

Also, the changing features of the faces in Smell-Girl are in their own way incredibly creepy. Brrr.

Woah. Have you always had face blindness? Do you have any other symptoms that accompany face blindness, ie headaches? Sorry if this is intrusive and you don't have to answer my questions. I'm just curious because I'm suddenly remembering all of Chef Rim's face blindness drama in Pervy Mermaid.

I have always been face blind, but I didn't recognize it until after I was married. (I think it's not uncommon for kids to think, "everyone is like this," and ignore, or find ways to deal with differences.) I've always had difficulty remembering people, but I didn't realize it as a “disorder.” When I was in high school I used to remember what my friends wore in order to pick them out. (I am so glad I didn't go to a school with uniforms.) I get migraines, but I have never associated that with my Prosopagnosia. I have learned to cope with it by faking that I know someone until I either recognize them, or they don't know that I have no clue who I'm talking to. I'm pretty good at that. My personality is such that I am uncomfortable making people uncomfortable—I'm not a boat rocker, I'm a nurturer.

It might help if you know that my mind is just a big black blank. In my head I can hear people talking (that's how I write fiction, I hear it, but I don't picture or imagine any images.) When I think of (for example) my oldest son, I remember his hair color, his general height and build. And sometimes if I concentrate really hard I can bring up a photo that I've seen of him many times. But I can't “see” him in my mind.
(I can't “see” anyone.)

I don't have a severe case. I have heard of people who are so face blind that they will forget who someone is WHILE they are having a conversation with them. That has never happened to me.

But if (for example) my daughter was wearing something I'd never seen her wear, and especially if she had a different hair style OR color, and if she walked by me, and didn't make eye contact, it is probable that I wouldn't recognize her. (I have, seen her in church from about 20 feet away, and thought, “that's a cute girl.” and then, as I get closer and she smiles at me I realized she was my daughter.)

My worst experience because of this was when I was in college. We lived at the bottom of a hill. It was over a mile to campus and often friends would give us a lift. One afternoon I was by myself, and late for class. A car pulled up and the driver smiled and asked if I wanted a ride to school. I thought, “he must know me, or my roommates” so I got in. Soon it was evident that he didn't know me. And he started talking scary about skipping class and going up to the mountains for some “fun.” I said, “I'm not going to class. I'm late for a doctor's appointment.” (The University Health Center was the first building at the top of the hill.) “If I don't show up they'll call my apartment and my roommates will have people looking for me.” (It was a lie, but it worked. He let me out at the Health Center.) At this time I still didn't know I was face blind. (I had never even heard of the condition.) I went to class, but I couldn't concentrate. At that time, I didn't tell anyone, not even my roommates. I was so ashamed that I couldn't remember what he looked like. I felt guilty, because what if he...

raped or worse some other girl who couldn't lie her way out of his car. But I knew if I went to the police and told my story, they'd ask me to give a description of him. And I honestly couldn't remember anything except that he had an accent. And the color of his hair. For weeks afterwards I wondered if he was on campus, following me.

Years later, when I was diagnosed, I remembered this.

Oof that story is awful, glad you were smart enough to dodge that bullet. I didn't imagine face blindness to be so severe, that you can't even recognise your own family and friends. It's very admirable. Take care! <3

0

I do recognize voices. (Often when I see someone I am not sure about I know who it is as soon as they start talking.)

0

Wag_a_muffin, thank you so much for sharing! I have heard of this condition but I really never know anyone with this condition. Your story about that man on campus was really scary! so glad you kept your cool and nothing bad happened.

That is legit scary. I'm glad you're here to tell the tale. More suspenseful than some of the kdrama 'thrillers' that aired lately. I hope the guy was just a regular skeevy guy who found you pretty and not a rapist or some other atrocious criminal.

0

I don´t exactly have face blindness, but my mind is very hectic, they say I think way too fast, and sometimes faces get "misplaced" or covered by piles of other things, or I just ignore them. Then I realize: "Oh. There was a person passing by, and I know them. Oh, whatever. I´m busy." It is part deliberate and part involuntary when you put a face you feel you dont need to recognize (cause the person is boring or annoying or whatever) away in the "unecessery junk" drawer, as rude as that may sound, it is very useful when you meet so many people

Hello! Dramas i am watching currently:

1. Girl who sees smells: loving it! i feel its another pinocchio for me. a simple cute love arched over a deeper conspiracy!

2. Equator of the flower: Makjang alert but still quite enjoyable for a weekend drama

3. Make a women cry: Yes another weekend drama, and it has the vibes of Angry mum about school bullying and all that. Just only episode 2 so far, will see if i continue

Thats all for now! Happy weekend!

Happy weekend everybody. I’m currently watching:
The girl who sees smells: I didn’t get the motive behind some of the hunter’s and the prey’s actions in Ep 8. It is still enjoyable and the ensemble cast is doing a great job but after this week, I have some gripes with the show.
Murphy’s Law of love: This continues to be light, cute and fluffy. Brownies points for the quickly-developing romance.
And.. We finally went to an authentic Korean restaurant last Saturday. The setting was straight out of K-dramas (food being grilled on the table, lots of side-dishes and mostly Asian customers) and that was enough to make my day :D :D . Being a vegetarian, I didn’t have much to choose from, but the Kimchi rice and side-dishes were tasty.
Also, chanced upon the classic, ‘How to steal a million’ when changing channels and loved it to bits. They don’t make ‘em like that anymore!
@redfox: Apparently Lee Yoo Bi is the lead and Kim So Eun the 2nd lead in the ‘Scholar who walks the Night’. I don’t know if this is reliable. Too much confusion there! Atleast LJK IS the male lead.

I totally agree with the motives being so odd in episode 8. I had some plot/logic issues earlier in the show too but now it's really feeling like things are put in just so the writer can get the show to certain plot points instead of being concerned by logic or consistent characterization.

The Scholar casting is a mess. They had announced KSE as lead. Then they quasi backtracked and pushed the second lead to a bit part, and I believe created a new character for SKE while bringing in Lee Yoo Bi.

I think Lee Yoo Bi acts and looks pretty young and I'm not sure I'll like her with LJK.

0

@luv_KimKimRaeWon,

Hehe yup :) JCW is the beloved Bongsookie/SJH from Healer ❤ I've became a fan of him after that drama. I love JCW in real life, he's such an adorable Bongsookie. As for LJH...it stands for CNBlue's Lee Jong Hyun. He's my ultimate bias for a very long time. Hence why I'm very excited for his new drama Orange Marmalade hehe. I'm lovung the new side of him on We Got Married too ❤❤❤

Lol sorry for fangirling ;)

0

I LOVE your name. HEHEHE :)

I too feel in love with JCW after discovering him in Healer. And when I started looking him up, he is tooooooooo adorable and charming.

He is like Bong Sooki in real life.

I love love his paintings/drawings!!Hahaha! He is so proud of his 5 year old arts. :)

Did you see the one where he surprised his fan club at their regular meeting, and wore the expensive D&G suit for them?

They get a table for him to meet each fan and sign, but it was dusty, so he proceeded to use the suit's sleeves to wipe the table of dust for his fans. Hahahahaha!

I cant help but love him. He is so endearing and adorable ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

0

Yes now she is lead and SKE is second lead and the original second lead was pushed to tiny side part. I've seen a lot of fans crying foul play/entertainment politics etc. since changes occurred after official casting was announced. It's.....interesting. I'm just here for LJK.

Haha same here! I'm jumped on the bandwagon when LJK was casted. I also absolutely love both KSE and LYB so I didn't mind either for lead. This is one of those dramas I'm excited to watch! Seriously hope this and Orange Marmalade will be much better than Blood, so fingers crossed! :)

0

Most of us are there just for LJK's sake I guess. I hope the drama is good.

0

That's very true, I've been following his dramas since Two Weeks. Loved the actor ❤

0

There have been significant changes in the roles of more than one character - like Changmin's prince character being the second lead/getting a bigger role, and eliminating the manhwa second male lead.

And the talk of 'official casting' being announced of KSE playing the female lead, isn't entirely accurate since international fans as a whole seem to base that off a translation that was a massive leap to conclusions.

In any case, it's ridiculous to claim that they rewrote the entire script at the last minute just to cram in KSE. That makes no sense, since

1. Why should the production allegedly "demote" the vamp gisaeng part from second lead to supporting at the last minute when it would be cheaper and more efficient to just give Kim So Eun that role instead, if she didn't win the lead role?

2. It's far more likely that the script was rewritten all along with the expanded role for the Prince and new female character. We just didn't pay attention to indications that this was the case, and media didn't get clear enough info.

If Fantagio really wanted KSE to get a role in this drama and insisted it had to be at least second lead if she couldn't be lead, and IF the character KSE is currently playing hadn't existed at the time and second lead was vamp gisaeng, it would be far easier to just turf a lesser known actress out of the role instead of getting a whole new part written.

0

Just so we're clear - I'm just saying some fans were crying conspiracy theory and those opinions are NOT my own. The idea is actually now that it was to get SKE in but that LYB and her moms connections got her an in at the last minute and knocked SKE down the ranks. Again, I have absolutely no opinion on how the casting came to be. I know nothing. I also like (but not love) both those actresses.

0

@4D - yeah I was addressing the conspiracy theories seen among a lot of fans, sorry if that came across as attacking you.

A lot of international fans especially, don't seem to realise that the initial report of Kim So Eun playing the lead was based on a major translation error/misunderstanding by one single blog.

Which has now led to all these conspiracy theories, which really frustrates me as a fan of both actresses. People keep making these assertions as if they are iron clad truth, when even half an ounce of common sense would make it clear what utter nonsense some of it is.

0

I love both girls and I don't care who is lead and who is supporting lead. I believe KSE was courted to play 2nd lead from the beginning because the lead role went to Jin Se-yeon at the time. I think Lee Yoo-bi was JSY's replacement.

I don't appreciate fans that are out to tarnish one's reputation because their bias didn't get the lead role. Things like Lee Yoo-bi having a sponsor etc is pretty stupid. The girl has proven herself that she can act. Sure, having a parent in the industry helps but there is a point when she has to prove herself that she can do the job and she has been doing well. The biggest advantage she has is having one of the best sageuk actress at her disposal, her own mom who has been in over a dozen sageuks. If I was the director I'd hire her so I don't have to train her. Look at what she did in Gu Family Book? Her first sageuk. Totally made a fan out me. I'm expecting her to own this role.

KSE has WGM and a movie to shoot on top of Scholar. I wonder if she is fine not having to carry the weight of the lead actress since she it's going to be a very busy time for her.

0

@Pogo

No worries, I'm not feeling attacked. I just wanted to clarify and make sure nobody mistook me for thinking poorly of the actresses. I think this was a big ole jumbled up mess of casting. I like both actresses and I'm not familiar with the original work so I have no investment on who gets what (although I would enjoy seeing our lead guy with a woman his own age who could really match him in screen presence - I want some fun but equal banter or something, not that I think a josean vampire is particularly the right venue for that). But I like everybody (well I have no opinion on Changmin since I've never seen him act), and I like vampires, and it just overall seems like it could be fun. So....how long do I have to wait for this? Lol.

0

They didn't actually announce KSE as lead, that was a case of one of the English-language blogs jumping to conclusions based on the fact that the vampire gisaeng had already been cast and thinking there were no other possible female characters for Kim So-eun to play. Everyone took that as truth and then freaked out when the LYB casting announcement came.

Even with my limited Korean reading skills, I couldn't find those initial KSE casting confirmation announcements saying anywhere just WHAT her role was, not even her agency's statement.

I'm really annoyed at all the ruckus that the production's own vagueness has caused, and with the mistaken translations (grateful as I always am to translators) for compounding it and getting international fans angry. I'm glad db has refrained from posting articles, because so much was unclear.

And let's not forget, the previous reported candidate for the lead role was She Who Must Not Be Named. Getting Lee Yubi after the threat of having THAT ruin another drama yet again, and a sageuk Lee Jun Ki drama no less, I felt nothing but relief.

Nominees for 51th Baeksang Arts Awards are out!
If you don't care you can skip it, excuse me while I'm gushing.
Basically, 4 acclaimed dramas are competing in various TV nominations. Misaeng gets most nominations, followed by HITTG, Punch, and Kill Me Heal Me. Notice the trend? They aired either late in last year or early this year, with HITTG as the only one that's still airing. Good sign after the slump which is 2014.
The nominees for TV are.....
Best drama: Punch, Misaeng, Yoona's Street, Kill Me Heal Me, Heard It Through The Grapevine.
Best director: Kim Sang Hyub (Mama), Kim Won Seok (Misaeng), Ahn Pan Seok (HITTG), Kim Jong Min (Bad Guys), Kim Jin Man (Kill Me, Heal Me)
Best screenplay: Kim Woon Kyung (Yoona's street), Noh Hee Kyung (It's Okay, It's Love), Park Kyung Soo (Punch), Jung Sung Joo (HITTG), Jin Soo Wan (Kill Me, Heal Me).
Best actor: Kim Rae Won (Punch), Cho Jae Hyun (Punch), Lee Sung Min (Misaeng), Jo In Sung (It's Okay, It's Love), Ji Sung (Kill Me, Heal Me).
Best actress: Kim Ok Bin (Yoona's Street), Song Yoon Ah (Mama), Moon Jung Hee (Mama), Lee Yoo Ri (Come, Jang Bori!), Park Shin Hye (Pinocchio).
Best new actor: Kim Dae Myung (Misaeng), Do Kyung Soo (It's Okay, It's Love), Im Si Wan (Misaeng), Lee Joon (HITTG), Park Hyung Shik (What's With This Family)
Best new actress: Go Ah Sung (HITTG--really? She's practically a veteran in film LOL but I'm happy to see her here), Baek Ji Yeon (HITTG), Kim Seul Gi (Discovery of Love), Nam Ji Hyun (What's With This Family), Han Sun Hwa (Rosy Lovers).

How can all my favorite dramas reign the nominations? How? It's really hard to choose! Other than Yoona's Street (which I don't watch), I love all the nominees in best drama! I also love all the nominees in Best Actor. Good news is Byun Yo Han gets nomination in movie section as best new actor for Socialphobia.

My predictions:
Daesang: Ji Sung (and he'll impersonate all of the personalities on stage while receiving the trophy just because he can).
Best drama: Misaeng (though I want all of them to win)
Best director: Kim Won Seok. I like KMHM's tone of directing, but Kim Won Seok/Ahn Pan Seok is a wall.
Best screenplay: Park Kyung Soo.......? I don't know, it's hard. But the dialogs in Punch are to die for.
Best actor: Ji Sung if he doesn't win Daesang (so he can put this trophy beside wifey's last year best actress trophy)/Lee Sung Min/Cho Jae Hyun.
Best actress: no comment since I've only seen PSH (I was, for a while, puzzled to see her name there but hey, she was good).
Best new actor: Im Si Wan (sorry Joon)
Best new actress: Go Ah Sung (seriously, guys?)

My predictions can go wrong, but I'm pretty sure Misaeng will win big and Ji Sung will get an award. Kinda feel bad for Jo In Sung and IOIL, but the other nominees are no jokes.

Looks like a tough fight in best actor/daesang category.
It will mostly be a toss-up between Ji Sung/Cho Jae Hyun. I might be biased since their acting influenced me the most. (Even saw New Heart for them)

Don't know if Baeksang too rewards ratings, otherwise best drama will be a tossup between Punch and Misaeng.

Screenplay has to be the Punch writer, the first show I watched where quality subs matter.

When will the awards ceremony take place?

Not trying to hijack or understated other dramas/actors because I also love some of the dramas here, esp Kill Me Heal Me and Grapevine. The actors in Misaeng, Punch, KMHM, HTTIG and IOIL are also very good too.

But how Ji Chang Wook was not in the nomination?? How?? Last year he was nominated for Empress Ki which for me his best role to date. But didn't win. This year he wasn't even nominated at all for Healer. Really?? I think he at least deserves a nomination, even if he wouldn't win because Ji Sung/Jo In Sung/Kim Rae Won are also really great.

If I'm not mistaken JCW was nominated for popularity award in last year's Baeksang for Empress Ki. I remember comments in dramabeans were cursing Baeksang for not including Empress Ki and Nine in any acting categories (but seriously, last year's nomination was a joke, I like this year better).
Maybe because Healer appeals more to international audiences than to Korean? I know it got good reviews (and it's indeed good) there but the hype was incomparable to, let's say, Misaeng/Punch/KMHM. Well, it's not like I can see through the judge's eyes though. Maybe they have other considerations.

I must say I am pleasantly surprised that both KRW and Cho Jae Hyun got best actor nominations for the same series. If it was any other award show, one of them would be labelled the lead and the other, supporting actor.

I'm glad you are watching AWR. It's one of the shows we SqueeCapped, and despite the slow ending, mostly enjoyable. UJH was excellent, and Cutie Soo was always good for a laugh.

I'm in a SK drama slump after finishing the two personality ones. It's probably not helped by Blood, which I am only at episode 17.

But my Thai lakorns are cranking along! I recently finished a couple of really cute ones that I can recommend [waggling eyebrows] if you want to step down that path. 8-)

And, of course, real life is always a kicker. We are gearing up for a sometimes-violent upcoming weekend in my city, so all leave has been cancelled for our public safety workers. I'll be in the support side of things and not in the thick of it this year.

How is the job progressing? I haven't been up her a long time!

Ah yes, i have started reading the recaps for the new one of your thai dramas (can't remember the name though). Also had to put the other one (prince and bodyguard) on hold due to essay work and then the youtube channel i watched it on disappeared. Need to find that again.

Currently i am going through a compete drama slump due to lack of time. Busy doing my masters. Just entered dissertation fase now which will go on untill september. A lot to do, but hopefully it will turn out good (thou i suspect that JoAnne and the rest of you guys could have a field day about innuendoes in it...)

Ah yes, Lah Ruk Sut Kop Fah / ล่ารักสุดขอบฟ้า. I have recapped it to episode 15, but I took a detour to do a by-request squeecap on another lakorn. If you can access it from your location, Dailymotion has them, under the wonderful person who subbed it, "ninjakkn".

The lakorn we just finished recapping is Ngao Jai / เงาใจ. Those recaps are on kakashi's blog. I am (still) watching more lakorns than any other country's dramas.

Other than that, I spent the last two weeks moving my parents from their wintering grounds in Florida back home. Which was made more fun by the fact that they sold their place, so it was a pack-out nightmare. Still, we managed to make it back hale and whole. :-)

Hi Manin,

I forgot how much I loved Witch's Romance, and I LUUVY Abnormal Summit. There is a spin-off called Where Is My Friend's House (on kshowonline). Have you seen it? Guillaume, Alberto, Tyler, Seo Yoon, Julian and Yuan travel to Yuan's hometown in China. That's the first 5 eps. Next, they will go to Belguim to visit Julian's hometown and family. It is crazy how AS took off, I like the format and discussions, too. It has come a long way since the beginning.

Build up that tower of books that collapsed, no escaping studies! :)

I do like how they structured the show. It is quite interesting to have the different views.

But but i don't wanna study *pouts* why does historians make everything so boring?

My current favourite of the new lot of dramas (ok not so new now, considering it is on episode 18) is Heard It Through the Grapevine. I'm also really loving Let's Eat 2, which is perfect if you just want to enjoy slice of life stories and food.

I think Let's Eat 2 is as good as s1. The main heroine, Seo Hyun Jin's eating acting isn't as good as Lee Soo Kyung's, but she's a fun and quirky character to watch. YDJ seems to have more of a main character role and is doing a solid job.

WHY didn't anybody tell me earlier Heartless city was FREAKING AMAZING, better than Punch even, yeah I said it,I'm shocked too.definitely better than Healer, Ji Chang wook biane for the betrayal, although I was 100 % in love with the OTP and hard a hard time getting closure,I'm finally over you.
I watched heartless city in one sitting,ONE NONSTOP, I couldn't stop watching, getting shocked, talking to myself and screaming at my screen, it was awesome ! I got back that elusive feeling I had when I watched dramas for the first time, loved everything, the four characters, the bromance, plot, writing, Everything! Life's good when you watch this drama hehe.
Angry mom, love everything, haven't watched yesterday's episode but Bok-dong aah don't cry *hugs* my heart hurts??
Kang ja your awesome but I just don't like you today, tomorrow we'll be cool.
Love Noah,he's cute being all tough.
Falling for innocence ,Saranghnye especially for allowing me to discover Heartless City ,love me some min ho and I'll be able to get closure from Paksa and son's epic bromance .
Movies
Loved Love forecast,LSG and MCW had great chemistry and good plot.
Gangnam Blues hmm the unexpected sex scenes had me stop halfway ,just in case but I don't want to see LMH like that and so far not really digging it but grateful to see LMH with a beard .
Con Artists ,awesome .
Pirates,Kim nam Gil why can't you also act funny and cute in dramas instead of always dark and dying .
Not a drama, finally watched EMPIRE hmmm, not worth all the hype ,my eyes need holy water after the shocking things I've seen, only cookie is normal and everyone else needs Jesus .
That is all Beanies , have a great weekend .

On some sad days I wonder what the second half was supposed to be like.

When JKH injured his back, most of the physically demanding aspects like the fight scenes were toned down to gun battles and steely glares. Which doesn't take away from the entire series, but you have to admit, those fistfights among the lotus blossoms definitely had my ovaries sweating. :-D

*cough* you meant Empire L*st? Sadly that was my first ever Korean movie since my friend told me to watch it. I seriously should not have listened to her!!! Haha. But seriously after watching so many kdramas I did not expect anything like that. Omg I was so shocked at those scenes! I'm a fan of Kang Haneul so I've always pictured the innocent him from Angel Eyes. I gotta admit he does look hot here but still...I'm shocked. Lols...that's all I can say :P

Besides that, I don't know any good korean movies to watch. Any recommendations? I'll watch the other ones you've mentioned in your list. I'm actually excited for Twenty but I can't find the subs anywhere...will want Con Artists soon since that's already subbed. As for Gangnam Blues - I'm a little reluctant on that one since I heard it isn't as good.

Korean movie recs:

1. War of the Arrows (sageuk chase movie, Park Hae-il and Moon Chae-won plus all those arrow sequences, are AMAZING)

2. My Sassy Girl (iconic romcom that made Jun Ji-hyun famous, and with good reason)

3. Mourning Grave (since you are a Kang Haneul fan - he gets paired up with Kim So-eun here, and it's adorable but also very scary and sad)

4. My PS Partner (TOTALLY NSFW but one of the best romcoms I've ever seen, even if my face was red almost throughout from either laughing or blushing. Ji Sung and Kim Ah-joong are amazing together)

That movie is great - SO much fun. I'm a sucker for heist movies, so it was right up my alley.

If you don't mind gritty gangster movies, I'd recommend For the Emperor - Lee Min Ki is a dead-eyed gangster who knifes people (& he has two fairly explicit sex scenes.) It's raw and gritty and doesn't really have a hero (cause LMK's character may be the protagonist, but a hero he ain't.)

I also enjoyed "Bitch  Asshole", starring Kwon Hyun Sang & Park Ran as a small-time hustler of fake designer items & a prostitute who fall in love. Sweet, sad, and ultimately tragic because they don't make good life choices.

Hi Klava,

Know what you mean about Heartless City and that elusive feeling from a kdrama. Baksa! I was on vacation a couple weeks ago and got someone to watch City Hunter with me. We didn't finish, but got into it - 7 or 8 eps, enough to draw her in. While rewatching, I thought of the things that made me like it so much and that elusive feeling was on the top of my list. The story was just done so well.

Pirates, meh. Couldn't finish it. Not sure I can do anything Pprate after Johnny Depp.
Gangnam Blues - slightly above meh.
Happy weekend, too !

The funny thing about Pirates is that Kim Nam-gil really did look like Johnny Depp circa Pirates of the Caribbean 1. That movie was the best (the sequels, nope).

I felt more sympathy for the whale than any of the humans, really. I winced every time they aimed a cannon at the poor thing.

I liked the first pirates of the carriers most but that last one, I was actually laughing at the cinema, I couldn't believe how bad it was and I must have left halfway through.
As for pirates, when that whale threw it self on the boat and turned it into firewood,I thought that's how ants must feel and I am never ever getting on a boat, I didn't realise how big whales are, yeah no,I'll stick to means of transport where there is no way creatures are beneath me.

kekekeke :P

But I'm glad you managed to check it out. Heartless City is... it's like a darker City Hunter. That was my 1st impression of it and I LOVED City Hunter, so HC was a revelation.

Actually I think of City Hunter, Healer, and Heartless City like siblings:

Heartless is the eldest, angsty, bad boy hyung
City Hunter is the middle kid with enough mix of badness and sweetness
Healer is the younger less (story) developed but sweeter maknae

I also watched city hunter late by accident, that accident being lee min ho on the cover of the Dvd otherwise it would have gone unwatched. Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well today.

So on a recent shopping outing, I came across some green tea from Jeju Island. ..... I purchased some and gave it a try today. It was good. It has a light taste, with a slight vegetal flavor but never bitter. ..... I guess I'm ready for the upcoming Warm & Cozy drama. Heh.

Watched this week:

Kill Me, Heal Me - Just finished this a couple of hours ago. ..... This will certainly be added to my list of favorites for 2015. It was very good indeed. ....... Ji Sung and Hwang Jung-eum definitely make a good acting team. I wouldn't mind if they teamed up again in the future for project #3.

Girl Who Sees Smells - Watched the first half-hour of the first 2 episodes. ..... Still don't know what I think about this. I may or may not continue with it, we'll see.

Marriage Not Dating - For whatever reason, I watch a couple episodes of this, only to get back to it like 2 or 3 weeks later because I'm running around doing this and that. ....... So, despite having started this a while back, I'm only half-way through it. ..... When I watch it though, I'm laughing nonstop because it's so funny!

Mr. Selfridge (Season 3) - I just knew Nancy Webb's idea was too good to be true. You almost think that it would be nice if Mr. Selfridge weren't so trusting. ..... And Violette, she's playing with fire.

Wolf Hall - With the lighting in this show, watching this is like constantly viewing a Rembrandt painting. ....... But to anyone else who has watched this or is watching this ---- is it me, or is there some undercurrent running throughout the scenes that can best be described as "creepy?"

Ok, that's about it for now. ....... Everyone take care and have a great Friday!

Yes, Wolf Hall is the BBC one. Quite interesting. There's just something about the characters that come across as uneasy, bordering on unseemly.

I'm watching"Wolf Hall" for Damien Lewis. I think he is the best Henry ever (spoken like a true fan-girl lol).

I haven't read the novel so I'm just going with the flow and I actually like it a lot. There is a few things that annoys me like the lighting etc but I can turn the light off and I can see better.

I prefer period romance like North & South with Richard Armitage (yum) and adaptation of Jane Austen's novels.

Required fields are marked *

Ooh, another Damian Lewis fan! Have you seen him in BBC's "ShakespeaRe-Told: Much Ado About Nothing"? It wasn't a sageuk - er, I mean historical/period drama, but it set as a modern version.

You mentioned Richard Armitage as well (nice taste in guys, heh heh)! I'm more used to seeing him play grittier characters, like in Spooks/MI-5, but N&S was beautiful, and he was beautiful in it!

0

@ Thursdaynexxt Yay! Glad someone else appreciate this talented actor. Most of my friends don't even know who he is.

I haven't seen “ShakespeaRe-Told: Much Ado About Nothing” yet but it's on top of my must watch list now. Thank you for the rec :).

I loved Richard Armitage in Spooks/MI-5 in too although I started watching it because of Matthew Macfadyen :). North and South is one of those series I can go back and re-watch over and over and never get tired of it especially that scene when they met again at the train station (oh so romantic and the look on his face could totally melt chocolate).

You know, I watched the hell out of The Hobbit for him, Luke Evans (yummy), Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch (my fav OTP from Sherlock). Season 4 is being filmed right now Rejoice!!! Can't wait to watch it.

0

I would take Wolf Hall's portrayal of certain characters with a grain of salt, especially Thomas More. I will try to find the article I read recently, but her portrayal of him really does not concur with the more recent historical consensus. LOL not that I need to teach anyone here about this, since we all know what sageuks are like...

Girl who sees smells: Very good, although the teasing out suspense can be hard to deal with at times. Weirdly touching. Not sure why the doctor would want to tell the chef that there was a witness. Whats their relationship anyway? Strangely loving and odd and unexplained. Loved how the book the heroine's mom "wrote" came into the plot. Just when I thought writer was being lazy.

Unfortunate Boyfriend: Love how the writers are totally overdoing the fated lovers trope. Hope they actually become a couple before the end.

Grapevine: Perfection! Nary a wrong move. What else awaits us til ep32?

"Smelly Girl": I'm not sure to whom the doctor tried to tell his "hidden" message. I'm not sure the writer knows or cares. The massive plot hole density in the mystery part of the show is bothering me (this is almost "Liar Game" territory) now as that part of the show becomes more prominent, but the core rom-com is still very nice.

"Grapevine": Yep, it's fantastic. Right now, it might kick Misaeng of its place of the highest quality K-drama I have watched. Ever. I'm still not quite sure why it IS so much better than, say, "Secret Love Affair".

Oh, and to complete the current SBS lineup, the weekend drama "Divorce lawyers" had a rather witty first episode too (even though I really hated the sexism there).

I wasn't sure about the whole "telling the guy who is murdering you about other witness whom he could also kill" vibe. If it was a friend's way of forgiving his bestie for murdering him, it didn't work.

When I see the great k-drama writers I just feel blown away by their skillz and it makes it hard to watch badly-written shows.

Is this divorce lawyers based on the Chinese drama?

Divorce Lawyers: No idea really.
I struggled with Chinese stuff in the past (I cannot cope with their acting, especially voice acting), so I don't follow it at all.
The premises seem different enough, apart from the thing with the belligerent romance of the divorce lawyers thing.

I'm not sure though, as the first episode was kind of a false introduction. She is the lawyer (who is basically are more mean and much more competent version of Lawyer Jang from "I hear your voice", seriously, the actress even satirises the walking style) and he is a suffering goody-goody assistant, and tables are turned for episode two (and probably for some time after, I'm sure by the sexist/double standard undertones I get so far).

Divorce Lawyer in Love- Despite enjoying the first week, I think I've decided to skip because of time.

Superdaddy Yeol- Dropped for the same reason as Divorce Lawyer.

My Unfortunate Boyfriend- The second week has convinced me to watch this one. Just a side question, is anyone else weirded out by the middle school/high school girl constantly hanging out with Tae-woon and the guy who I guess is his roommate? Granted if you add them together I'm pretty sure you only get 3/4 of an average adult but still.

Angry Mom- What a week we had the high of everyone coming together in episode 11 and then the low of the blow the villains dealt at the end of 12.

The Lover- I started this last week, I find it odd but enjoyable.

Missing Noir M- I really enjoy it, it's been a while since I've watched a Korean crime drama so it actually feels completely new to me. Allow me to be completely shallow for a second, I wish they would give Jo Bo-ah more than 2 seconds of screen time per episode she's so lovely.

The Girl Who Sees Smells- Ugh writers could you please keep your story at least half as fun as your couple. Because right now I just want to Gibbs slap both the writers and Dr. Chun. Was chef Kwon really planning to kill Mu-gak on his initial visit to the hospital, because that's just stupid, he had just told all the cops he was going to see Mu-gak not to mention that two people in a row with known connections to him had died, which in the real world would almost certainly make him if not the prime suspect pretty high up the list. Give yourself a hug if you get my Gibbs slap reference.

I'll at least be trying School 2015 when it starts next week because of Kim So-hyun.

@"Smelly Girl" plot hole festival

You know I'd be fine with the crime subplot thing being totally stupid if they wouldn't take it that seriously in the first place. But right now, they put more and more emphasis on that thing and it is really really badly designed.

I understand that, as a rom-com, we're not supposed to even think about what the chef would have done after he had killed Mu-gak, but as they present it as if it was some kind of crime show at this point, this automatically happens.

It get worse, as they don't give us enough information on how the police is actually doing their work. During the whole hospital sequence, I didn't think about "OMG he is going to kill Mu-gak" or something, I tried to remember whether they really discarded any suspicions they had towards the chef, whether Mu-gak actually had any authority to question the chef (does his chief knew about this?). Once again, fridge logic to the rescue ...

I love her more in this drama than in Bride of the Century, and I thought she shone like a jewel there. And Noh Min Woo is adorably quirky and earnest. I think this is one drama I'll keep on loving if the writers can keep the plot tight and the momentum consistent with what it is now.

@ Sajen: err, I'm hazarding a guess that it's an NCIS tribute? Funny, cos we see it all the time in our beloved kdramas!

So Gibbs was actually the inventor of the k-drama cliche?! Then what does that make Tony?

Hi Beanies, this is a totally wrong forum to mention this but my company is hiring ~ not the most popular profession - chess coaches ~ and we really are cracking our brain as these people are so hard to find. International job sites like Monster are not a local favorite I understand. Most countries esp in chess playing Eastern European countries have their own popular job sites. Please drop me a note at [email protected] if you can help. I would like to know the best job site in your country that locals would go and search for jobs. Thank you. Sorry JB, for trespassing.

Btw, I love Misaeng has mentions of chess strategies here & there and felt sorry because he didn't make it to the top as a chess player, but because he was smart and determined, he somehow succeeded in a different way.

Hi everyone! In this part of the world, it's Friday afternoon, almost the w-e woooohhhoo. Wish you all a super w-e while we're at it :))

I'm watching: Ho-gu's love and Pinocchio but it's not really watching, I'm struggeling! I've put Pinocchion on hold for the moment and I'm not really enjoying Ho-gu's love. Not sure why though but it's surely depressing.
I loved I hear your voice so I was prepared to like Pinocchio the same way but I'm at ep 11 and I'm bored! Like really bored.
And I realized yesterday at the end of my daily episode of Ho-gu's love that I wasn't in the story at all. I care for Ho-gu only but can I survive till the end only with that? Wait and see...but it all smells bad.

Will start: Sensory couple today and Bad Boys tomorrow! Quite excited about the two. Different genres but certainly good vibes from both and good reviews as well loool.

Want to start soon: Heard it through the grapevine because of your positive comments!!

I don't think Pinocchio lives up the expectations if IHYV is your baseline. It shares some of the flaws but misses out on most of the strengths of the previous show (for example: interestingly designed characters and somewhat believable character development).

HITTG: Don't let the first episode fool you, this show does take a while to level in on it's actual genre-mix. I'd say you should know after about 3 episodes whether it might be your cup of tea or not.

I didn't mind the remaining cases of investigative journalism or the resolution of the bundle of knots in the past.
I prefer the journalists in pinnochio over those in healer. Of course healer had the spectacular Moon Ho ssi.

Pinnochio is about reporters, the writer failed to make the plot around them exciting. It had so much potential, the story of the brother was handled so well, but soon after it got lifeless and draggy.
Healer was a mash up of different genres that worked brilliantly.

Been out writing 3 books. =P 2 novels 1 novella. One novel is on the verge of being finished if I type it up and finish connecting the separate parts together into one complete whole.

Also most of the dramas haven't been that stellar, so I didn't feel a compulsion to talk about them. (The ones I did like were Japanese dramas--Date, for example, was perfect. Also Mondai aru no Restaurant (Problematic Restaurant))

I am watching:

Super Daddy Yeol
Sensory Couple
Angry Mom
Let's Eat 2
Hwa Jeong--sort of.
Masshiro--sorta

Sensory Couple is probably the best of the lot.
Date was my favorite so far this year.

***
Novel plots... one about a Korean actress who attempted suicide five years ago and is now trying to rebuild her career.

One about a historical queen that's taking forever to research since literature from the first century is hard to find if you aren't looking at Rome or Europe. I've finally gotten past the triggering stuff, but I need to congeal the rest and I really want to cut the front a little to give me more leeway in the back.

And then a novella about death. A guy is dating Death and trying to convince Death to give him one more day on Earth to fulfill his dream.

All have diversity, and some of that diversity isn't my own.

BTW, did you know there were black people in Three Kingdoms Korea? I found this out recently. The silk road did work.

Some genetic testing of some Korean people I know turned out they had .01% Sub-saharan African in their blood. Also other indications of the Silk Road. There is also evidence of Indians in Korea, two of which were Princesses, and one who was a trader during Goryeo.

There was also a report that in Joseon times, when the Portuguese arrived, Korea had already mapped out Africa.

People forget that the Silk Road spanned from the Roman Empire to Japan, and white people tend to teach each other and the rest of the world they were the only ones that traveled, despite the Polynesians, but I think this goes to show that's pretty false.

I mean if Homo Erectus, a homonid ancestor, can make fire and travel to Asia, why is travel thought to be only a white homo sapiens sapiens activity?

Therefore, I feel pretty safe putting in black people into my historical fiction kinda as a STFU.

no, YOU can stfu and have several seats.

What she said wasn't inaccurate at all, considering the way Christopher Columbus and other European explorers are celebrated for "discovering" entire regions or continents as if the native people weren't there first.

0

You do realize this statement is racist and a fallacy. I can accept that there are different perspectives on the telling of history, but saying "white people" do something is the same as lumping all Asians together. And I hope people in this forum have learned that would be a big mistake.

0

everyone calm down and don't feed the troll.

0

"TEND to teach" isn't that far off the map in US and UK history. And it didn't say all white people. How many Polynesian travelers do you know without looking it up?

I did check before making that statement. And BTW, only whites can be racist. Because that's the history of the world. But PoCs can be ethnicist.

Do you know any Chinese travelers? Do you know the indigenous peoples of North and South America by name? Do you know what the waves of people into North and South America from Asia were called? Do you get taught in middle school about the Polynesian travelers? Are you taught that Homo Erectus did things like travel into Asia? Can you name one female trader of the Silk Road? (Can you even find a book about that? I looked and I can't, but I know they existed.)

You do realize that white people are called "Explorers" who "discovered" the new world, right? When I talk to *some* white people about a truly world history book, most of them, even the history geeks say they don't know any. Because most of the books focus on white straight people.

I'm merely acknowledging institutional sexism, racism and homophobia in the US educational system, because I am Korean American. And I heard people from the UK complain about the same thing. So I'm pretty comfortable saying so, because some white people from the UK think that black people didn't exist before 1970's in the UK before the TV show Who do you think you Are.

0

Oh and why exactly is Columbus Day a holiday in the US stole goods and enslaved peoples? He didn't even get to the mainland. Should we really celebrate a man who did such horrible things in the name of "exploration".

Also Manifest Destiny... Trail of Tears, Korean War, US occupation of Japan, Opium trade in China (forced, BTW), slavery of Africans, and the genocide of North and South America, the arbitrary splitting of Africa for goods, the creating of Osama Bin Laden by the US and creating the conditions for Castro in Cuba. The concentration camps of Japanese. (Because Jewish ones are frankly Death Camps)

You do realize, BTW, a history book got challenged last year for *gasp* including Muslims in the text. Also the Texas school board banned Eric Foner's history book because it included slavery. And then AZ also banned a bunch of Latinx and Hispanic books the year before last. That really says a lot about the American system of education.

It's the history of imperialism towards other peoples that gives the definition of racism to be a white-only activity. Ethnicism is the rest of the population. And I do have sources for that. John and ktiep didn't cite any sources. I did both times. So cough up sources.

0

let's just report the troll, yes?

0

Agreed.

0

no such thing as racism against white people

0

@pogo tell him, babe!

@Kim Yoonmi good luck with your writings! Would love to read them, make sure to post them here. Your comments are just spot on.

0

Oh and why exactly is Columbus Day a holiday in the US

Well...it's only technically a holiday. I tend to call it "Leif Erickson was robbed Day" ;)

Seriously, it was a holiday because for a number of years the US educational system considered him the 'discoverer' of America (never mind that there were already people living here, or that the Vikings had dropped by much earlier, or that Columbus only made it to the West Indies, or that our country's short name - America - is after a mapmaker.)

Nowadays, it's an anachronism - the only reason it hasn't been ditched is 'cause it's a paid holiday for government workers, & I can't blame them for wanting to hang on to their holiday.

0

That's really interesting. I wish broader-minded historical information was available on that. Hope to read your books when they're finished!

"I mean if Homo Erectus, a homonid ancestor, can make fire and travel to Asia, why is travel thought to be only a white homo sapiens sapiens activity?"

Well, if the more popular out-of-Africa theories are true, the fact that human beings live all over the planet, and many of them are not exactly white, pretty much disproves the idea.

"Some genetic testing of some Korean people I know turned out they had .01% Sub-saharan African in their blood."

That's kind of difficult as an argument, considering that sub-saharan ethnicities have a huge genetic variety (much, much, much higher than the whole east Asian population). And not only is the variety huge, they also cover almost all genetical features OF ALL OTHER "races". Very, very few alleles are distinct to certain non-sub-saharan groups. If Korean people had only .01% "sub-saharan" in their blood, they'd basically be a different species.

The first episodes were pretty awesome (AND THE SCENES IN "KOCHENIA" WERE SHOT IN ROMANIA MY COUNTRY SO HEHE STILL HAPPY).

SUPERDADDY YEOL: It's funny and sweet but dramatic and I like how these mix together and just flow, thus giving a show worth watching.

GIRL WHO SEES SMELLS: Can't wait to catch up with the episodes.

Same here with Blood, I'm annoyed that the writer didn't let us know what happened to the patients in Ward 2A since they're quite central to the whole conflict within this drama. It got left hanging... Perhaps the writers just wants us to assume that they got cured by Jisung's cultivated blood. Still there are many things left hanging that made me so disappointed in the drama as well. So glad dramabeans didn't recap this either.

Hi Beanies,
Sometimes I want to go back to older OPs to see what was talked about there. Ever want to do that? Too bad they aren't indexed and searchable by drama.

Watching:
The Girl Who Sees Smells--I am as confused as everyone else, but am willing to give it more time to unravel. Yoochun is so good in this one.

Heard It Through the Grapevine--That fight was epic. I wish the help hadn't interfered so we could see how it might have played out. As of now, the issue will still fester--mostly because he is just clueless. I can't figure out why though. It's not like people haven't spoken to him in plain Korean about what the problem is. Midlife crisis--get a hobby.

Super Daddy Yeol--I like watching it, but the time I get to the OP, I have entirely forgotten what went on in the last episodes. Sad. It's that forgettable. And to think I still run scenes from Marry Him If You Dare/MiRae's Choice through my head. In retrospect, I actually liked that show because it generated a lot of discussion.

Falling for Innocence--I'm confused about the titlte because no one seems to be particularly innocent. At any rate, the transformation is interesting because it isn't abrupt. I hate the Chairman though. He is as evil as Chef Chun.

Finished up Healer (again). Can't get the OST out of my head. What an ear worm!

I've had zero time to catch up on dramas, so I had to make do with a substitute......a web drama. A web drama with less than 15 minutes per episode and basically an idol vehicle.

It's called Exo Next Door (yes, THAT Exo, though out of 12 members only 4 appear, with a couple more scattered in cameos). Cheesy as hell and SO SILLY, but really quite enjoyable if you can get over the fact that Chanyeol, the member they've designated as the male lead really can't act that well. And it does have It's Ok It's Love's D.O., who's much better but appears to be relegated to second lead.

They're not all bad, but this show is mostly carried by Moon Ga-young, who plays the female lead as a frequently-blushing stalker fangirl. It's amusing to see the situations she gets herself into, and how she is sometimes (deservedly) embarrassed because of things she does (like getting caught stalking them), ha.

It's really silly, but so breezy and charming. Though I admit to being really confused by the heroine ID-ing main guy as 'the guy in charge of fire' when he catches her stealing her phone back, are they an idol group or is this webdrama making them superheroes as well?

Not sure if this answers your question, and I don't really follow EXO, but the gimmick is that each member has a trademark 'superpower' like flame or teleportation: http://exotown.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/exo-members-official-sings-and-powers.html. For God's sake, don't ask me why :)

Maybe it's to help with the marketing hype, or to compare them with anime heroes, etc? Still, it nicely underscores our hero's plight, which (I'm guessing) is just that he wants her to remember who he is.

Hello everyone!
This week I suddenly became curious how fans of the original fated to love you, like the korean version of the show.

Not curious enough to watch it though. I was thinking recently how much I loved Rey and Kenzo from operation proposal and didn't' want to make teeth gnashing sounds at the korean version. I had watched this Korean drama called 101st proposal and loved it without knowing it was a japanese remake. So with tons of time on my hands I watched the first episode of each show back to back and I actually hated the korean version that I had loved so much before.
I liked the Lake House and not Il Mare though.

I'd really like to hear of a time when something similar happened to you.

Funny that you should mention Proposal Daisakusen and Operation Proposal. When I was watching Proposal Daisakusen, I thought I'd give Operation Proposal a try. Couldn't get through the first episode, no comparison.

I saw the K Drama He Who Can't Marry and enjoyed it. Years later I watched the J Drama, Kekkon Dekinai Otoko and liked it even more than HWCM. I'd recommend either drama though, they're both worth watching.

Just lost my whole comment. :headdesk:

What I'm Watching:

Missing Noir M: Tight plotting, beautifully written, well-acted. A definite instabuy for the library. Oddly enough, the last episode had two actors from Blood.

Let's Eat, S2: There needs to be more eating. I should end each episode looking for recipes.

The Lover: The last episode had one of the sexiest TV moments ever - and the characters only touched one another's wrist. Kudos to the boy who plays the Korean half of the gay couple - his emotional acting is amazing.

Blood: So. Series Finale. Good lord, this was a confused mess of a series. Apparently, the ratings did well? I just don’t even know.

The last episode was more of the same. Sitting villains, awkwardly standing minions, so much slo-mo. Kwon Hyun Sang at least had a few lines and a couple of sexyish fight scenes, but not nearly enough to make up for watching this whole thing.

So at the end they went for melo instead of humor, but the ending undercut any emotional punch there was. And the ending totally blew off at least two storylines (what happened to those characters we saw every week? Who knows?)

Here’s hoping that Kwon Hyun Sang’s next series will be a much meatier role….and that Scholar Who Walks the Night will be everything Blood wasn’t. ::crosses fingers::

What I wish I was watching:

Cheo Yong, S2: Ghosts + Detectives + Oh Ji Ho=Harmony's Sweet Spot.

K-Drama Moment:

I finally figured out how to spell my first name in Korean! Woo! Also, I am beginning to be able to puzzle out shorter words (in clear fonts, anyway.)

I also spent time this week trading recommendations w/another librarian who was asked to get some Kdramas (she usually bought Telenovelas; we swapped). She didn't know about Viki, DF, or any of the other places. :) There was excitement all around.

I turned on a new coworker to Marriage, not Dating, and she is totally hooked. ::my plan is proceeding excellently::

Have a great weekend, everybody! :)

Lee Jae Joon! Yes he's so good in The Lover. I know that whole couple is completely trolling fangirls but I think it's hilarious and his acting is so sincere in every scene. Hoping for major network roles for him in the future.

Blood ratings did well? Really? I thought the show was an utter flop, or do you mean internationally? (I know nothing about ratings) Yes, those last two episodes were completely melo - and unearned melo at that.

Let's Eat 2.....I'm not watching but I loved Season 1. Is there really not much food? Is there really a new romance for him? It seemed from the recap of episode one that it was more that the other characters were in the dark about the relationship and that it was technically an option that something else had happened or they were still together but for some reason separated but the others didn't know. I think that's the only way I could watch Season 2. I know it's unfair and I like the new girl but I just can't do it.

Regarding Let's Eat 2. it seems that there are two meals in each eps. Eps 5 got some chicken in broth dish and some complained that they do not find the dish yummy. I personally find each dish interesting. I love the marinated crab dish....

while watching LE1, I biased for the lawyer despite of his flawed attitude for the main lead girl so I can manage to watch this series as a stand alone drama. The set up between the two leads seems to be more real and the girl behaves like a regular girl ie, obsessed with foods but feels guilty when she eats( she used to be overweight), she has no idea on how she can pull herself together to make her look attractive to men. I find her expression and Yoon Doo Joon' expression are priceless sometimes.

What I find a bit disturbing is that Yoon Doo Joon's bossy friend( actor) plays a despicable mob character in Angry Mom. I cannot shake off his mob characterin AM while watching him eat in LE2.

I find that Yoon Doo Joon is charming in the sense that he has two faces. when he dresses well and has his hair pulled back, he looks manly and handsome. when he is in casual clothes( ie trucksuite) and his hair messy and down, he looks like a regular ajusshi( though he is young to be called an ajusshi). The gap is something I find charming.

Eps 5 got some chicken in broth dish and some complained that they do not find the dish yummy.

For me, I think it's a difference in how the eating scenes are shot. There are fewer shots of just the food, & the shots are wider, less focused on individuals & their yummy noises.

I find that Yoon Doo Joon is charming in the sense that he has two faces.

I'm interested to know how the writers intended for this to be read, because I know sometimes I'm missing cultural shorthand. To me, his character comes off as a jerk - he's dismissive & uninterested in his employees, and he's a dudebro in his private life. (Dear female lead: If you'd put that focus into your job instead of into trying to 'get a man', perhaps you'd be in a better financial situation? Just sayin'.)

Blood ratings did well? Really?

I thought I read that somewhere, but I can't imagine it's true - it was such a train wreck. My family is thrilled it's over, because now they don't have to watch it anymore. ::chuckle::

I’m not watching but I loved Season 1. Is there really not much food? Is there really a new romance for him?

The restaurant scenes don't seem as intense or as long as in S1. And at the start, he's broken up w/the lead from before (which kind of sucks). The new neighbor is someone he went to elementary school with.

Lee Jae Joon!

I've been blown away by his naked emotional acting - any actor where a single glance makes my stomach knot up with anxiety for the character? That's some mighty fine acting. I hope to see him doing a lot more in the future.

In terms of creative projects...I'm still working on my Korean Red Riding Hood short story. I'm no longer sure if I want to submit it, but there is still a chance. I can't believe that I started writing it last August. I'm thinking about a Korean Blue Beard story, but it's been difficult to get into writing it (I just have two or three short paragraphs so far.) I want to do a bit more research on traditional social relations and on the layout of traditional Korean homes (or hanoks). It's hard to find quality time to work on anything, and I want to locate good (detailed) resources.

Lastly, I submitted another work to my deviantart page today. Take care, everyone :)!

Peridot, it's interesting you mention a Korean Bluebeard! I've been writing one too. I unfortunately can't see the illustration without joining though. :/ Since you mentioned traditional social relations, are you setting it in Joseon or another bygone era? Hope you find time to work!

You're writing one as well! That's amazing!

The Red Riding Hood was vaguely set in the Joseon era.

I'm thinking the same with the Bluebeard one, but I really haven't written much. I ask about social classes because I want my Bluebeard to be some very wealthy, mysterious merchant, and I was thinking that the female protagonist would be from an impoverished (or at least financially strained) yangban family. I'm just not sure that such a marriage would have been possible, but I believe there were families who created false yangban family lines and married across class lines. I'm hoping to find some good resources that would talk about the complexities of social inter-relationships.

Additionally, I am interested in the layout of traditional homes, because Bluebeard's grisly room of dead wives is so important to the tale, lol! I have done some reading on hanoks.

I would love to read your tale if you ever publish it or make it available.

Thanks for your encouragement. I hope I can find the time and creative energy. As for my drawings, you should be able to view them without joining. If you want, try clicking on my name and see if you can view my page :)! Unfortunately, drawings with a "mature" tag won't be viewable to everyone.

Right the Bluebeard one was tagged mature so I couldn't see it. Assuming I finish it, I'll make it available on my blog. You're more ambitious than I, mine is set in modern times largely because I could play with the building structure more without as much research heh. Granted, I'm having to change more for the sake of motives, modern investigation, and their union, but it's kind of fun...on a good day lol.

The Bluebeard illustration on my deviantart page is actually set in an unspecified European context, but the short story would be set in Korea :). I guess the research needed would really slow down any writing progress. I got a new job recently; it's not full time, but it does make it harder for me to work on personal projects. I really don't know if I'll be writing anything at this point.

If you don't mind me asking, how far along in your story have you progressed? I'm glad that you're having fun writing :)!

Ohhh ok. Still, my curiosity's got me. Congrats on the new job! Hope you find a good balance. Don't give up! I need to scope out my competition haha ;)

I've got my basic outline and the first "chapter" which is more of a prequel. Problem is, I hit a wall where what I wrote isn't what I had in my mind's eye and it's not focused or "Bluebeard-y" enough. Given that, there's a good thing I might scrap it and start again.

I wanted to start from a newer angle which would give me a little more liberty, so I'm fleshing out the people around the last wife, namely her sister. That distracted me, so my Bluebeard is still a shadowy question mark. I always get trapped in these sort of tree vs forest issues in my stories. T_T

Hi, I'm just replying here because there was no "reply" option under #28.1.1.1.2.

"Don’t give up! I need to scope out my competition haha ;)"
I'm really not sure that there is any competition at all. I'm sorry :(. LOL!

I like the different approach you are talking vis a' vis the last wife's family, and I can understand the problem of getting caught in other details. I'm curious about your Bluebeard character, and I wish you good luck in fleshing him out ;).

Happy Weekend everyone!
Oh ongoing shows - why do you make life so hard. Heh.

SMELLY GIRL - Waiting for subs for eps 7 & 8. I was going to wait for more eps. But I got tempted so yeah.

ANGRY MOM - Put it on hold but will definitely catch up.

RUNNING MAN - I watched the ep with the Birth Of A Beauty Cast. JSW is so dorky and Wang Ji Hye and Han Ye Seul were surprisingly hilarious.

I'm also enjoying Happy Together and Gag Concert. But I watch then on TV(secretly of course). No one in my house knows that I'm fond of these things(Ok maybe some of them do know). It's my secret life shhh. Heh.

Oh is anyone watching DIVORCE LAWYERS IN LOVE? Is it any good? I'm not very fond of those the more you hate the more you love tropes. But I'll do it for Yeon Woo Jin(and Taepoong even if I can't remember his real name) ;)

secret watching ... hehe, I have to do the same. I once tried to watch "Misaeng" with my wife, but it was too sappy and cliched for her. She's still ridiculing me for it. Imagine she'd know the other stuff I watch ...

"Divorce lawyers": Not sure whether it will be good, but I liked the pilot episode. I disagree a lot with the kind of morals that the show tries to push, but it was certainly entertaining.
I'm not quite sure how the character dynamic will play out over the next few episodes, tbh. The pilot episode is basically just backstory about when he was an assistant at her office and she mistreated him.

Re: Divorce Lawyers in Love
I actually liked the first two episodes, but I can't say if it's going to be really good or not. There are quite some funny moments, and Yeon Woojin did great as always. He's also looking so cute in this one. I'm not so sure about the female lead though. She kind of annoyed me but she made me slightly pity her as well. Hahaha, I think it's too early to judge her character anyway. I think I'm going to watch some more episodes to decide whether I'll be tuning in or not.

Female lead:

In the first episode, she is a deliberately even more annoying version of Lee Bo-young's Lawyer Jang from IHYV.

In the second episode, she is somebody I REALLY wanted to be played by Han Groo. Not sure why ...

Hello!
Questions:
1. Does psychopath know that they're psychopath? I don't know if this make sense though
2. Does Weblock in iphone works with Viki app? Because I'm thinking about buying it.
3. Can you recommend me some of thai movies? I tend to like some of thai movies because they're more open in reality (like teen boys watching porn but I don't like to see it again though) than korean movies, I don't care about the genre but this days I don't like seeing blood and actions :) Hello Stranger is my favorite movie all the time ;) here are some thai i already watch

Try the horror. Thai horror is among the best. Especially Shutter (that's one of the scariest horror I've ever watched).
I looooove Little Thing Called Love! It reminds me of good ol' days. I also like ATM and Hello Stranger. Chantavit is a gem in rom-com, and apparently he's also a screenwriter. Talk about talent!

I've seen Hello Stranger which is unchallenging but the couple's vibe is cute and funny. The only other Thai movie I've seen was a horror entitled The Swimmers. I don't do horror generally (I can count on one hand the number I've seen in my life) but I really enjoyed it. Not too scary and had a nice twist.

Oh Pinocchio~I started it for the premise. Stayed for the characters. But Hyung(Yoon Kyun Sang) and his arc stole my heart. I don't know. I just lost interest after he went to jail. I was like - Okaayy where do we go from here?

I was more than halfway through(12 eps in) and I would've just watched it for the heck of it. But I couldn't get through another ep. I really liked the show but hey I couldn't even watch the last ep of Gu Hae Ra. Ugh. Dropping a show is really frustrating.

Oops. Sorry for the rant ;)

They must have super sharp glass in Korea ... because apparently if you drop and break a glass cup, there's no way you can pick up the pieces without cutting your finger ... it's a good thing that in Korea, a first aid kit is always less than 10 steps away.

Things are so sharp in Korea that you can get cuts just picking up broken plastic, ceramic, and pottery dishes. Seen them all. You have to wonder at times how they manage to eat without stabbing themselves with a fork or knife - or even poking a spoon in their eye.

I guess that is why in Korea every household has a massive first aid kit. On the other hand, every time someone gets a headache or something, they ALWAYS have to run out in the middle of the night looking for "medicine". You gotta wonder why they all have first aid kits with no Aspirin or Tylenol, and none around the house.

Hi y'all! I was wondering if anyone had watched Two Mothers (aka Cuckoo's Nest) with Lee Chae-young and Hwang Dong-joo? I'm watching now and I'm loving it~~

Is there someone to talk with me about it? I'm only on ep 12 tho...
