Hello

how are you?
I am coughing all the time:-( so tired of it

dramas first this time:
Smelly Girl.
boy oh boy, this drama is messing hard with my brain. as soon as we all almost unanimously agreed that the doctor can´t be the killer and the chef is more suspicious, they bring suspicioun back to the doctor....and then they off him. OMG. OMG
so now they cleared it all out for us.
and by suspecting the wrong guy he became a victim.
oh damn. I can´t handle this.

but why do I feel like most psychos lately have taken hints from Shin Sung Rok in being creepy?

on a lighter note, I love how real life situations with either the cops or Cho Rim & Mu Gak are wayyyy funnier sometimes than the sketches they rehearse. How come they haven´t noticed it yet?
some folks said, in ep 5, when

SPOILERS PERHAPS

Cho Rim ran into a closed area from the marihuana guy, that it was irrational, but how many would be able to think rationally in that situation... she should have just screamed for help and ran into a crowded area, but perhaps her senses were totally blinded. I loved how Mu Gaks´ scent arrived like the glow of a guardian angel. that was so X men

Falling for innocence - pretty good? except SO unbelievable. Oh cmon. it is a big barrier to get over to accept their premise at all, but once you´ve somehow managed to climb over leaving your logic behind on the street for stray cats, it is quite interesting. then again fantasy rules the dramas. all people are big kids forever... but I feel like they are trying too hard to leave the impression "this is really really real"

That´s it. Well, if you are upset for the things that happened this week in dramas like TGWSS or Angry Mom (Bok Dong getting beaten up and having his heart crumble probably) a really calming song from Traffic:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwzXn8XRxXc

„See päev“ – „This Day [is still ahead]“. Talks about how slowly, slowly it goes to get over things, but that day is surely ahead, when the waves no longer clash above your head and you can climb ashore. But it takes lots and lots of patience, so dont lose your nerve and be calm. It was my favorite song on Eesti Laul in 2009, but sadly it didn´t win nor go to Eurovision. And it is also written by stig, who represents us this year.

also, I posted a picture of a new bag on Redfox´s Felts in Facebook.

Angry mom - don´t have time properly, watched parts here and there, skipped a lot then read recaps. Bok Dong is so adorable. I really hope all will be ok with him. and everyone should be as kind and consistent with the lost kids as Kang Ja. I see too many teachers who just give up and blacklist them and call their OWN KIDS monsters and uncontrollable crooks. have they even tried properly?

today the question is not connected to dramas at all. I just smooched you in with the above. I am going to Copenhagen on Monday. We are going with a grou of 12 from work, visiting Danish maritime Museum and some others, but we´ll have lots of free time. Has anyone been there, lives there, what are your suggestions? I am not a sit and eat person, I don´t care for restaurants. More into design galleries, maybe some cute crafting / textile shops, and I really want to find a place that sells pretty and elegant letter papers and envelopes and postcards. Oh, and should I buy some book illustrated by the Quuen Margharete, but then which book....
all recommendations of cool, artsy, bizarre kind welcome.

Chef Kwan kept making two plates of food so maybe he's keeping Dr. Chun prisoner...or doing a creepy ritualistic memorial food offering thing. I love that either could be a very plausible possibility.

The Design Museum is pretty cool, and I would also recommend the harbour boat tour, which is a great way to see a lot quickly! The historical museum was also fascinating, if you like that kind of thing, which I do!
The walk up to the fortress and on to the little mermaid is pleasant too. Basically, a lovely place! Enjoy!

My lovely creepy child Sungrok ;w;

Also: I have reason to believe Dr. Chun isn't dead yet, but imprisoned somewhere i.e Joo Mari-style. Is it me, or (spoilers) do I feel that the letter he wrote Chorim would end up resurfacing as Moogak continue his dogged chase? They also deliberately drew attention to Chorim noticing Joo Mari's perfume on the wine box with the evidence in it so I feel that'll play a pivotal role too~

hoping for the same but I mean

spoiler

chef already put the time of death on the book!

also, in ep 5, perhaps he orchestrated that other guy to kill the other chef after all? to get arrested and cleared from charges so he would look so so innocent? perhaps he promised that guy something, like help his family out of a pinch or something?

and also, I sort of regret the guessing game didn´t last longer.

Doesn't he usually kill on the 7th day? If so, the doctor should still be alive.

0

I am so hoping that Mu Gak and Cho Rim manage to find out the truth and save the chef, but the chances are not high. we need a miracle for that. but if the doctor stays alive, then he is a witness. then the chef must run and hide perhaps, cue man-chase and also a real threat to the lives of everyone involved.

what worries me is the creepy look in chefs eyes. does he have a hunch who Cho Rim is? or not?

one mystery solved but a dozen others surface.

0

I really hope the doctor is still alive. He needs to keep his promise to protect Cho Rim!

I was also wondering if the chef remembers Cho Rim. I don't recall a scene where it was obvious, but he just hired her. That's enough to keep me on my toes.

They did good casting Namgung Min as the killer; he who looks like the nice, sweet, gentle guy next door.

Girl Who Sees Smells (SPOILERS for those who haven't seen episode 6)

OMG the last part of ep 6 was sooo nerve wracking. Ever since I saw that Jae Hee guy, I had the feeling that he was too good to be true... I got the creepy vibes right from the start. In episode 5, when Jae Hee was preparing the steaks for Cho Rim... was it just me or did the camera focus on those things for quite a while? I have this weird Hannibal Lecter feels. Like when he asks her how she likes her steak.................*starts to gag*

Could be possible that the doctor might have given Mu Gak copies of Ma Ri's diary.

I know... but still... the Hannibal Lecter feels. Idk but I feel like it's creepier to have a chef for a serial killer than a doctor. lol...

Also, the episode with the dog scratching a mystery door. Was the dog smelling something? I mean, Jae Hee said that it's the place he stores food but idk... it could be an excuse? Then again, Cho Rim would have known as she can see scents.

It's been a while since I last visited the site lol... Finally got some time to watch dramas. The last one was Pinocchio. Sheesh.

HITTG: I may be the only one but I'm really not happy with the development. After a good ep 14, this week's episodes let me down. I hate affair in any form, as much as the writer's desperate tries to poke fun at makjang.
On the other hand, I like that the side characters get the storyline they deserve, especially Seo Noo Ri with Je Hoon. That makes the characters more human. Waiting for In Sang's arc tho. Kinda want to see him rebel.
Hope the affair thing will be resolved before ep 18 ends.

Smelly girl: liking it, though the cops are silly. Like the fact that Jae Hee are more shady and layered, not typical good-guy-all-smiles. Good for Nam Goong Min's acting resume. The ending of episode 6 though.... now I'm curious on how dr.Chun first begriended Jae Hee. I thought he got close intentionally but seems like it wasn't the case. Glad that dr.Chun is actually good guy (oopsie, spoiler) because he'll always be Yoon Tae Woong for me LOL.

The poster for Producer is.....underwhelming. I mean, you've got 4 of top stars in Korea as leads but that's all you can do with the poster? I think I was hoping for Misaeng-vibe drama so my expectations were really high (or because I'm sensing love triangle and my poor CTH is not included). Hope the actual drama will be good.

Hello, all!:

Finally Spring is here! With Spring allergies alas.

Last week was a devastating week and am still reeling and a bit weepy about it all but I want to thank Jomo and Manin for their comforting words.

Dramas:

Am watching only:

Girl Who sees smells. Am really liking this. And wow...murderer as writer, editor, series editor AND chef. Nam Goong Min is just wonderfully creepy. Love the love story, love how our hero manages to get the cheif on his side.

Missing Noir M. I couldn't watch this week's episode because of the kidnapped chld. So I'll have to pass on this weekend's also. After that, I'll return to it. Because this is one seriously good show.

Hwajung. What a great show! The actor who plays King Gwanghae is perfect. Great gravitas. If he goes bad...I'll be able to forgive it.'

Twinkle Twinkle. I decided to see the finale because....well, because. I'm seriously amazed at how far the redemption arc thing can go. The Big Bad Wuntak was definitely conflicted but still...woman, although you love him and see his heart and all...that forgiveness is down right supernatural. And i so wanted her with Assistant Goo. Should've realized that once the baby was in the picture, that just wasn't gonna happen.

Grapevine. Ah me! Adultery..and Han CEOtotally finding his second (or first) adolescence! When those stiff ones loosen up, they certainly loosen up, don't they? He thinks he's so skillful changing the name on his cellphone but wow..he's like a kid who can't think things through...and who doesn't want to think things through. Re: other charaters: Over at dramajjang, the blogger said it looks as if lawyer newbie might be gay. That might be his secret that he'll tell Bom's sister. If he is, I suspect he and Jae Won might be a couple. BTW, who was it who texted CEO Han to say "The CEO is in love." And poor In Sang. About to lose his innocence.

Unfortunate Boyfriend. Omo! So silly and fun. The Second Lead has already sprung into meanness. My lovely No Min Woo is perfect!

KBS is uploading Cheer up Mr Kim. Am wondering if I should just watch it. I need a good daily. Or should I try one of the new weekend dramas.

Or should I catch up on Jingbirok. That's about it, I think.

Have a great weekend, all!

I don't know if it's less of an issue for you but the kidnapped child in Missing is not at all mistreated. He cries for a little bit but it's like a tired cry. Otherwise the kidnapper just sort if hangs out with him in a hotel room. Not sure what ep 4 will be like but the kid was mostly just chilling.

Hi Carol,

I've been away from the OT for a few weeks so I'm not sure if you suffered a loss or are just going through a difficult situation. So sorry you have to go through this. I pray that you're able to manage during this devastating time. There is light at the end of the tunnel - storms don't last forever no matter how endless they feel.

It was a great loss. One of my online friends Jon-Marc Holland committed suicide. He was 27 and quite a sweet person. At age 4, his dad had accidentally run over him with a truck. He lived in pain from that time on. I befriended him on facebook because for some odd reasons depressed folks online and off seem to be drawn to me. Last week, he went missing and we were all pleading with him not to kill himself and praying for him to return home.

Three days later the cops found his body in a tree in a park near his house. It was very devastating to me because I always tried to cheer him up and to make him want to live at least one more day...a day at a time. It's not fair for me to have wanted him to live one more day in pain but this really was what we all wanted. He devastated his mom and dad and all his friends. Because we always tried so hard to give him hope. This is the third young male suicide I've had to deal with. It just leaves you feeling confused and helpless against the decedent's great despair.

So sorry for your loss Carole. Death by suicide not only affects the person who died, but also the people who cared deeply about the person. There is no easy way to grieve and deal with the shock. @Carole, I am so glad you decided to watch the finale of Twinkle Twinkle after all. So you think Sun Jin will forgive WT? The poignant closing scenes (WT, SJin and their adorable son Soo Young; WT and SJin at the end) were beautifully acted out.

In spite of the show having faults and being adversely affected by external factors, I am glad BSB took the part of WT, my favourite BSB character to date. It was wonderful watching his onscreen chemistry with Jang Shin Young, especially in the final episode. I'd love it if the two of them were to work together again, maybe in a rom-com?

Just a thank you to all those who recommended "Heard it Through the Grapevine." Initially I wanted to watch it (for the dark comedy) but then I read that it wasn't. So I avoided it. However, so many beanies raved about it that I marathoned it and. . .I love it! (I only wish now I'd waited to start it until it was closer to the end, because I'm DYING to know what's going to happen.)

Oh, and I LOVE the music.

And thank you to my daughter who recommended "Miss Granny" (on Netflix.) I finally watched it yesterday and the ending surprise? Made me smile SO MUCH. (I'm not going to post a spoiler, but it was so much fun watching that movie. PERFECT casting!)

I wasn't even planning to watch this with him but I'm SO glad I did, I think I experienced a whole range of emotions from funny to the sad the entire time. So not knowing anything about this movie, that ending totally was a treat for me! I squealed, and had to explain to husband why lol

The Cat Samurai - haha, it was a silly but really cute movie.

The funny thing is that this ronin gives off a forbidding aura, and just one look from him can scare people off because of his scowl, but in reality he's just a kind hearted but very taciturn and slow thinking guy, hence all the scowling when he's sorting out his thoughts. ?

The cat simply brought out the softie in him.❤

I'm loving this drama. Can't wait for In Sang to be more vocal in his dissent.

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well today.

I missed hanging out with all of you last week as I had family visiting and staying over. ....... Which brings me to my little story: So out of the blue, one of my family members asks about my recently-watched kdramas. ....... I share, we chat, and before I know it she's asking for recommendations! ....... Based on her stated recent interests, I recommended Punch, It's Okay It's Love and Kill Me, Heal Me.

Before our conversation was over, I was recommending online viewing sites, she was taking notes and we even watched parts of the first episodes of the recommended dramas! ....... She said she was intrigued and said she'd watch. ....... Of course, I have no way of knowing if she will, but that's ok. ....... I'll know more when she visits again in a couple of months. All I know is, fun was had by all!

Watched this week:

Kill Me, Heal Me - Almost done, but not yet. ....... Oh wow. Very good. I always knew Ji Sung was good, but he is fantastic in this!

Last Cinderella - It was different from my usual kdramas, but interesting. Glad that I now know some new actors, previously unknown to me.

Mr. Selfridge (Season 3) - Oh my goodness. Just like I thought, things did take a turn from the fun and frivolous of previous seasons to serious and unsettling. Still good though.

That's about it for now. ....... Everyone take care and have a great Friday!

I'm a Last Cinderella fan - Rintaro was a great second lead

The much anticipated Attack on Titan movie out in August 2015 stars Haruma Miura as Erea Yeager, in quite a different role. Tralier:

I was visiting family last week and we watched It's Okay It's Love (completed it) and got 6 or 7 City Hunter episodes in. I guess we take kdramas with us wherever we go, or bring it to those who visit us, because a week without kdramas is a week without sunshine!

Jazzier than what I was expecting from this sort of show and I'd be happy if it wasn't so bizarre. However for now I'll agree with those who say its intentional. Also, the guy who plays Teacher Do is/was shaping up to be one of my favorite villainous actors...my conditional response is becoming eww.

Missing Noir M: Kim Kang Woo is purty, but was he always this flat? Or is it just the character? Anyway I like this on the cases front so far. Erm too many numbers though. Beautiful as ever from OCN.

LEGEND OF ZHEN HUAN (at about 28). Breathtaking. Literally I spend most episodes holding my breath. Princess of Glory trumps my aswesome villainess list so far (which basically consists of Minister Yoon) and at first I thought she was one dimensional but she's not. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Blogging question: Push your vote of actresses of note (especially under appreciated and not just by casting but in fandoms to) to cast. I need a bigger list to draw from. Please and thank you.

So glad someone else has mentioned 'Zhen Huan.' I've seen it twice and will probably watch it again this year. It's sublime. You mentioned the villainess -- I agree, great performance. I'm thankful Viki posted it but I wish the subs were more consistent. When they get to the political stuff the subs tend to be patchy, sometimes missing entirely, and I LUV the political stuff. You really need to understand it in ZH because so much of her fate depends on it.

Yeah I totally agree with the subs and have mini-heart attacks when they don't translate the political stuff. You miss part of the beauty of how well interwoven the politics affect the ebb and flow of the day-to-day lives and I love how well done that is portrayed here.

I love how Zhen Huan is 60 or 70+ episodes, yet it felt like nothing watching it.. I've only watched it once, but it gets reruns on Chinese television channels all the time, so whenever I catch a replay, I just end up watching it again.

You're only on episode 28, but wait till you get further along... Honestly, it just gets better and better!!

Loving Angry mom, sensory couple and more in love with falling for innocence.
About sensory couple it was abit off at the church, I mean come on, the chef is way tinier than the doctor unless he's a martial arts expert I find it hard to believe that he could easily over power and seriously doctor man, couldn't you run as soon as you saw him,he holds your hand and you just sit back down and why couldn't you call the detective as soon as you found out, but if you did there would be no more episodes.
AND I don't know how I'll ever eat a restaurant again without think the chef might be a killer that makes beautiful food, the same hands ,facepalm.
Falling for innocence, my only gripe is the new hair style, very unappealing compared to the first.
Angry mom,I keep wanting her to end up with the teacher and I have to keep reminding myself she's married already.
Finally watched Date,it was good but not so great as I thought it to be and I was thoroughly annoyed with the last two episodes, I'm in love with this guy and you think yes finally and the next episode,no,I love this guy.although you never know with Japanese dramas they are always weird or unique you might say, they never go the way you expect, choclatier is another example.
Started watching gag concerts on YouTube, kbs world and I love them, yesterday I watched for 6 hours straight, love it,but I woke up exhausted and groggy.
And to end
HEALER YAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
Sometimes I just like randomly putting it out there.

Suspension of disbelief is how I rationalized that scene. Instead of driving directly to the police station as soon as he found out (that morning in broad daylight), no, he must wait until night falls at a remote church to report the serial killer.

Am really excited about producer. Mostly because of Tae-hyun and Gong Hyo-jin. I really hope this drama will be good.

Another drama that I'm so excited about is the Korean remake of In Time With You. In my mind, even though it is impossible, I was hoping that it could be Ha jiwon and Jo In-sung's reunion project. They need a reunion and a much better ending than dying, you know. (Yes WHIB, I'm talking about you)

What are good dramas that's currently airing anyways?

All’s well that ends well! ‘The scholar who walks in the night’, ‘Warm and Cozy’, ‘Descendants of the Sun’ and ‘In time with you’ have secured likable leads. ok! I was hoping Jo In Sung or Gong Yoo would be cast opp Hai Ji Won and I have no clue about Kim So Eun or Lee Jin Wook but atleast they are liked here.
the prospects for 2015 look pretty bright. Btw, why won’t Kang Dong Won take up any dramas anymore? Gong Yoo, I miss you too.
As for the current dramas, I am only watching ‘The girl who sees smells’ and loving it so far. The OTP is cute and I now see Park Yoo Chun in a new light.I enjoyed two of his earlier dramas but he is a revelation here.

Hi everyone! I've been following the dramabeans website for a long time. I love the recaps and reviews, and it's wonderful that all the casting news are always posted on dramabeans first, before they get to other sites.
Let's get to dramas now~
Alright, am I really the only one who keeps watching Blood and actually finds it entertaining? I'm slowly catching up.
Falling For Innocence looks promising. I'll start watching it after the story starts developing more and more episodes will eventually be out.
I've finished Inspiring Generation today- I loved it! Although it's a shame Chung-Ah appeared in the last 30 secs of the last episode. I mean...seriously. Not even a minute?
After Blood ends I am planning to watch Ho Goo's Love (because I've seen how everyone loved the show so why not give it a try?) and Superdaddy Yeol (if it's anywhere close to the fun and brilliant sense of humour of Marriage Not Dating then consider me a fan already!)
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Hi 4D - I think Blood has too many side characters, too many characters in one day and out the next, and and not enough vampire action. The forest story and early years were more exciting, but the countless hours in the hospital corridors is dragging out too much. Well, 2 more episodes for the finale, although I only watch as I recap, so I think I'm on 14. I was thinking last night that it might have been more exciting if imore of the story took place in Kochenia.

Ahn Jae Hyun certainly has the natural vampire look, though. And, Blood is very popular internationally!

Yay! Friday! And I'm at home this morning to weigh in on the OT party. :)

What I'm Watching This Week:

Missing Noir M: This show continues to make me happy - it's so well-written, and so well-acted. The only down side is that I really want to binge-watch it, and instead I get it doled out one time per week.

The Lover: So raunchy. But funny (the bit with the glow-in-the-dark condoms cracked me up). The actor in the 'dangerous bromance' couple does a good job of portraying that nervous attraction when you're trying to figure out if the signals you're getting are actually the signals you're getting.

Blood: Hey, Kwon Hyun Sang actually had some lines & some acting to do! Wooo! Also, I don't understand some of the plot points here.

1) In this series, vampirism is a virus. So why is he equating consuming blood w/a moral failing? Is he this way with patients that need transfusions?

2) You know the bad guy has killed (or ordered killed) at least four people. He has also conducted illegal experiments on innocent people without their knowledge or consent. He has threatened your best friend and your girlfriend and many others. You know he's the gangster at the center of this web of violence, and if he dies, the whole thing falls apart, but you won't kill him because...

And you won't contact the police or the medical board over the "research" because....

Seriously, you suck at this vampire thing.

3) Minions: How long will it take for you to figure out the bad guy is as crazy as a bag of cats? Seriously.

What I Want to be Watching:

The Scholar Who Walks the Night: Here's hoping this is proper vampires.

Cheo Young 2: ::happy dance::

K-Drama Moment:

My husband had to see the eye doctor this week. So I'm sitting in the waiting room, reading, when these two older ladies come in. The room is completely empty, except for me, yet they choose to sit in the seat directly next to me. ::narrows eyes::

Of course they start talking. Loudly, so I can't concentrate on my book.

So I open my Kindle, bring up Viki, and start watching The Lover. You know, it's really raunchy. There's lots of pretend humping.

The old ladies change seats. I win.

I don't usually like broad humor, so I was planning to give it a miss for now, but the desire to be anti-social was too strong. And then, it was pretty funny (though there were some bits that made me annoyed). Ever seen the movie 'Porkys'? It's kind of that level of funny - some of it is super-funny, some of it is 12-yr old boy funny, and some of it you're rolling your eyes & waiting for that part to be over.

I just watched born episodes of The Lover at work today thank to you! (With headphones on my phone so nobody knows why I was laughing hysterically). There's definitely some stuff that is just not my style (bathroom humor does nothing for me....but it's so common in Korran comedies), but there was a lot more that I liked. I'm surprised they are making a show like this tbh....and I recognized two if the actors (well really I guess they're singers but anyhoo) I know the Japanese guy and the young guy.

I agree though that the in the 'Dangerous Bromance', the Korean guy is spot in with his reactions. It works well against such an outgoing counterpoint too. Fun!

Regarding Blood
1. I think because he wants to be human and consuming human blood is generally not an acceptable act for human beings. Also, he has lived relatively well without drinking blood. (Unlike blood transfusion, which is usually absolutely necessary for a patient to live.) It's somewhat similar to vegetarian/vegan thinking. The truly morally reprehensible part to him was Director drinking children's blood. Once you start, where do you stop?

2. If he's not drinking blood, he's not killing anyone either. Not sinking to his enemy's level is his moral center. Calling the cops will just lead to a bloodbath. Except when the Director is threatening to discharge all 21A patients. Just the fact these patients are unstable and violent should be enough for law enforcement intervention without letting the cat out of the bag.

3. That's why they are minions. They don't think much for themselves and/or are really adept at rationalizing.

0

Required fields are marked *

I think because he wants to be human and consuming human blood is generally not an acceptable act for human beings.

Except that if you need blood to survive, you need it. And he clearly looks half-starved and unhealthy (no offense, but a good strong breeze could knock that boy over) compared to the other vampires. There's no reason he shouldn't depend on donor blood to keep himself healthy.

There's 'not sinking to your enemy's level', and there's allowing evil that you could stop. (Plus, calling the police/medical board would result in shutting down the research and (maybe) causing the bad guy to lose his license and have to go underground. Logic, it is not the writers' strong suit.)

That’s why they are minions.

Point. :)

1. Ji Sung doesn't really need blood. He's "genetically modified" to crave blood. That craving is similar to certain drug and alcohol addictions. Giving in to it will be extremely difficult to revert later. The real problem is the actor apparently doesn't eat much to stay skinny. He obviously doesn't go out in the sun. His paleness makes him perfect to play a vampire. His skinniness and lack of muscle tone make him less perfect. I'm fine with it for the most part. Unless Ji Sung has to carry Ri Ta in his arms. That'll probably break character for me because I don't think the actor is strong enough to do it with ease.

2. Don't know whether SK has FDA, CDC, and/or NIH, and what kind of authority they have. I think it's usually a long legal process to shut down an experiment, with evidence gathering, advance notices, warnings, and investigations. Director Lee has sufficient time to dispose of all patients then run, like they've done for years. Doing the right thing (properly and legally) usually takes more time and not always effective. Don't we all wish we could be vigilantes sometimes?

0
reply

Required fields are marked *

There’s ‘not sinking to your enemy’s level’, and there’s allowing evil that you could stop.

Similar to the moral and ethical dilemma many military doctors face. Save your enemy's life and take the chance that he may in the future kill more of your comrades. Or, stop him either by letting him die or by killing him.

The writer has chosen to not allow the protagonist to cross that very murky line.

0
reply

Required fields are marked *

I actually think it's more the way they obtain the blood. I'm a little fuzzy the details but there have been some articles lately on places in the world where people sell their blood. I know we pay for blood donors sometimes here but the amounts are minimal and it's well regulated. Other places it's actually become and issue and is sort of taking advantage of the lower classes....they pay more and will take blood more often that is necessary. Often the blood also doesn't really go to a hospital it's put more into a black market system. So it's more like perhaps the black market for organs?

He obviously can't take the blood from the hospital so the morality of where the blood comes from I think it a lot more complex and isn't like people who donate to blood banks. Also as a doctor, or anyone in the medical profession knows, there is a blood shortage. I'm sure he's seen patients who have died or ended up in worse conditions than they should have because not enough blood was readily available - so taking blood from them pay be another way he sees it.

0
1
reply

Required fields are marked *

I think one of the main reasons for not paying people to give blood is due to safety precautions. You want people to be truthful during screening- travel, legal and illegal drug use, health status... If payment is involved, many people will lie. Then, all blood must be extensively tested, making the entire process more costly and time-consuming. It was just reported that donated blood's shelf-life is about 3 weeks, longer than originally expected, but still pretty short.

Anyone watching Murphy's Law of Love?

I know it's Taiwanese not Korean and has a lot of cliches/cheesy moments but sometimes it's nice to have a pretty straight forward rom com that is just running off if the leads chemistry. It's cute and makes me smile. Although it's only episode four and so much has happened that I'm worried about the up and coming obstacles. It still reminds me very much of P&P although I guess most rom-coms do.

He's getting there. If you haven't watched the fourth episode, then you probably haven't seen it yet. He gets all giggly over a phone message in the fourth episode and jealous over the second lead (already). Like I said, he does that inner dork thing that most broody main leads do when they start having feelings for the girl. It's adorable.

Oh he's definitely fallen for her and is on full on teasing/flirt mode.

Yeah I know the ex is going to show up...but seriously how does neither he not anyone they both knew know about her car accident? They can't all think she dumped him and disappeared without a trace (or what about this movie she was supposedly making him wait for...and then never did?). Unless I missed something with that plot.

I kind of which the second lead would end up with that Linda woman. I know it's cliched for everyone to get a happy ending but....I still want it.

The main couple though is adorable. I love teasing/flirting phase in comedies.

Hi Beanies,
Just remembered it was Friday. Yea Open Thread. Watching:

Heard It Through the Grapevine--Don't do it Lawyer Han. Your wife is too smart and you will be SORRY. You want access to that baby, don't you? Oh, and I agree there is someone gay in the situation. I'm just not sure who.

Girl Who Sees Smells--I was at a meeting and a woman mentioned this is her second drama. She has such a crush on Yoochun. It's sooooo cute. I told her about his other dramas, but I really think he is outstanding here. Good OTP, in my opinion.

Super Daddy Seul-- Can I say I officially hate her? I don't think it's just the cancer that is making her so cruel. I wish we knew more of her back story. Oh, and grandpa. I will miss him. They had better have lots of flashbacks.

Falling for Innocence--I don't understand this one. Might have to drop it, despite all the pretty. Or maybe it will improve?

Rewatching Healer because I have a cold and want to feel healed.

Just finished a book, Painted Horses. It was good for a debut. I recommend it if you like books set in the western US (it's not really a western, but it's about cowboys in Montana).

Yang Jin-sung is not disappointing me as she's doing very well No Min-woo is okay, I think, it's either his fault or the writers fault that I'm not sure if his character is just very odd or not all there mentally.

Angry Mom- so so good.

Girl Who Sees Smells- Spoilers, just to be clear again Spoiler alert.

So the killer was the chef not the doctor, yay, episode one was way too early to reveal the real killer, although I'm not sure this is better really but oh well. I do wonder though why the chef didn't seem to recognize Cho-rim at first, is it just because he's a psychopath and feels no normal emotions? I still hope that the inevitable, in Korean drama land at least, sequence where Moo-gak finds out the chef was trying to kill Cho-rim and not his sister happens sooner rather than later.

Superdaddy Yeol- I still love it.

Missing Noir M- I really enjoy it, it's been a while since I watched a crime drama. I do think they've come together as a coherent team awfully fast for my taste though. This is mostly shallow but, if you'r going to cast someone as lovely as Jo Bo-ah couldn't you give her more screen time, especially when she's learning how to act and needs more experience.

ANY VIPS in here? (I mean Big Bang fans) - was last night not the most glorious end to a 3 year long WAIT we've had to endure. That epic promo trailer whatever YG released, I was clapping my hands like I just gave birth to my first born.

Alright done with my kpop RANT.

What I'm watching -

What Happened in Bali - ah so THATS what happened hahah.
I watched the first 10 episodes before I couldn't take anymore of the love triangle -seesaw crap happening, watched the VERY end and DANG. Did not see that happening!

The Lover - OH.MY.GOD. My new crack drama I think. I have to make sure I'm not drinking anything while watching this show, it's soooo hilarious. My fav couple is the younger guy-older noona.

Smelly Girl - SO AWESOME. The last two episodes, I was gripping my hands in fear for the doctor-nim. I called that one! And omo omo omo, Mr. Chef, you are good, too good my friend. But how does he not recognize Cho Rim is my question.

The Lover, it's like a whacky mix-up between a reality show (cuz I'm pretty sure Joon Yoon is like that in RL, and Takuya - our Abnormal Summit cast member, too) and a modern kdrama. It's a 24-hour time frame, a day in the life sort of thing, isn't it?

I'm afraid the ending to WHIB is so well-known and discussed, that it was spoiled before I even knew what the whole drama was about... I have watched maybe 5 episodes of it, but got side-tracked by other shows. Still, maybe I'll return to it one day.

Happy weekend, everyone! I'll tackle my jdrama of the week first, because I feel like it demands to be talked about. Thoughts on Grapevine and Let's Eat to follow later if I have the energy.

(ok, re; Grapevine, I will say this: ATTORNEY HAN YOU ARE AN IDIOT. Seriously, you're going to be seduced by the one woman in your circle even pettier and more childish than your wife, and not half as good at hiding it? And she doesn't even have the one thing that sort of makes your wife halfway to a decent person i.e. the capacity for genuine, unclouded-by-thoughts-of-status affection with the baby. Your wife may be a terrible person, but damn it she deserves loyalty from you because you're equally terrible)

SPOILERS FOR OUROBOUROS AHEAD

I finished the series at last, and I am so, so bummed by how it ended. Not because I necessarily think it should have had the classic all-bows-tied-prettily happy ending (I grew up a fan of shoujo manga, I'm used to tragic stories) but because, against all my expectations, it allowed me to have hope that at least Ikuo would emerge from that destructive revenge spiral and be able to live normally even if Tatsuya couldn't.

When I started watching the show, I didn't expect to have even any hint of a love line between Ikuo and Hibino, because jdrama procedurals don't always go there. But watching Ikuo and Hibino develop that respect and affection for each other, and watching the change it was starting to set off in him (also Toma and Juri have great chemistry, they should work together again)......it actually made so much sense from a character point of view. As did Tatsuya basically accusing him of going soft for not wanting to kill her father.

And right up to that last episode, I genuinely believed that there was a chance for Ikuo to get out of it, even if Tatsuya couldn't. But then episode 10 happened and it was all Ikuo back on suicidal spiral of self-destruction again because he really was over the edge. I had my fingers crossed the entire episode, because I just so badly wanted them to survive, but those last five minutes just finished me off. Even if the setup is REALLY STUPID, like who lets a clearly distraught man take his fatally wounded friend back to their old orphanage to die when you could, you know, call an ambulance?! And they call themselves police officers? At least Hibino tried to stop him from leaving. Pretty much the only thing in that last ep that did make me happy was them basically non-verbally admitting their feelings to each other, and her promising to move in with him (!). And a really sweet not-quite-backhug.

All in all, I don't think I regret watching this, though, even if I wish the Hana Kimi boys had a happier ending and some of the supporting character/child acting wasn't up to scratch. It did turn out more interesting than I expected, but I wish they'd done something else that wouldn't leave me gutted at the end.

Spoiler's Alert---

I understand your overall opinion on Ouroboros . I was not disappointed with the drama.
The drama is based on the manga but I have heard that the manga has not finished so people wondered how the drama version would end.
From what I read in Japanese site, I get a feeling that many viewers in Japan like the ending. Since the theme is a revenge of a tragedy that took place twenty years ago, the viewers were not that surprised that it would end in a tragic mode.

If we hoped for the best for Ikuo and Hibino, the ending was upsetting( and him killing himself is quite shocking) However, if you do not expect the two happy together, then watch the last scene where three ( the two boys and their teacher) eating omurice then people who were involved with them were eating omurice thinking about them, make sense and bring much tears.

I like the fact that two did not use the violence or do something unlawful to carry their revenge in the end because they found out that the teacher left the warning to them that they should not do things unlawful no matter what, though during the course of revenge they were willing to do anything. What happened to Ikuo is quite upsetting but the scene that their teacher said' you guys were so fooling but you guys were great in the end. you did not make a fatal mistakein the end. Welcome back, Ikuo, Tatsuya' and they enjoy eating omurice gave me a good disclosure. I take it that the two ended dead but their souls were healed at last.
I also found that many Japanese viewers thought this drama is a tad homosexual.... if not in physical sense.

I watched it for the sake of Oguri shun and Ikuta and I really like Oguri in his role. Tatsuya is a man with many layers and Oguri was good at playing the complex character.

yeah, I don't hate the ending - in many ways it makes sense, but it just hurts a lot because I wish it hadn't taken death to bring them both peace.

I absolutely understood that final scene with the omurice to be just that for them, the final healing from the wounds they've been carrying for twenty years - and I do find it touching that even in death, they're together.

And I do agree on Oguri Shun. I've been a fan for ten years now, and while he was good even at that young age (I feel like 50 percent of the reason I like Sung Joon is because he reminds me of Shun so much), he's just got better and better with age, and grown into an actor who can carry an entire show. He expresses so much with just his eyes alone.....my favourite performance of his in the last year was Border, but I loved him in Ouroboros. Perfect example of an actor who knows that deadpan is an art in itself.

Need to finish Ouroboros and start looking at the new doramas, not that I'm super excited over them this season.
Shun was so great in Ouroboros though, I want a second season of Nobunaga Concerto as it was so great and fun.

Angry mom and Super daddy need to watch the latest episodes and check out Missing noir M if I like it.

Otherwise! Next week going to see Avengers age of Ultron! Avengers Assemble! So excited as I'm a huge comic book geek, now I've been watching Netflix take on Daredevil which is so good that I want a second season asap. Jessica Jones will air late fall so I hope it's as good. Charlie Cox is so adorable but he's so badass as Matt (can't believe it's Tristan from Stardust) The fight scenes are awesome and I like his red costume in the end.

Hello, everyone! How are you all doing? Only one more finals and I'm graduating! Will take a little bit of a break from real life and catch up with my dramas. AND I'M SO HYPED FOR EPIK HIGH TOUR! Anyone going to the Vancouver concert? :D

As for the dramas, I'm currently watching:

Angry Mom--Like whoa, this drama is all kinds of awesome. AT first the music turns me off but I got used to it so I appreciate it a little bit more now. Kim Hee-sun is amazing in this. I think the role is perfect for her. I can actually see her as a high schooler! (Too much as to make me ship her with Bok-dong. /slaps myself) The villains are very good actors as well. Plus the plot thickens! OMG

The Lovers--No, episode this week. Torture! I need me more Takuya-Joonjae loving! Oh Jung-se killing it as always. Just total laugh out loud drama, not a lot of plot but just really fun to watch.

Super Daddy Yeol--Still behind on this one. The characters a re kind of inconsistent but have good small moments. Better than Mirae's choice though. huhuhu

Variety shows:

Abnormal Summit: This is just so good! I've been falling for Daniel and Zhang Yuan since forever. I need saving!

I just recently watched Youth Over Flowers with the Reply 94 bros. Makes me want to travel but no money. Can Na PD kidnap me and make me suffer/morbidly enjoy in an awesome country?

Oh and I started doing mv reviews just for fun. Went crazy over Cross Gene's Play With Me MV. HAHAHAHA. Too much for my heart.

Any drama recommendations for this summer? More drama time for me! I've heard good things about Kill Me Heal Me so I might try it. Have a good weekend everyone!

Anyone know where to watch "Make It Pop", the new Nickelodeon TV show? What little I have seen, I like it.

Here is a sample
http://www.nick.com/videos/clip/make-it-pop-109-music-video-my-girls.html

Enjoying Sensory Couple and Falling In Love with Soon Jung.

Watched "Nut Job" and realized it was Korean. Ah! The plot makes sense from a Korean perspective (work together, be part of the group, banishment the worst punishment, government is corrupt and trying to control the population by keeping them poor, being a maverick who profits from getting there first is wrong, etc.)

Practicing my handwriting and Chinese brush painting with watercolors. So glad Spring finally reached the Berkshires. Nature painting of the mountains, trees, birds is just my speed. Feeling quiet and contemplative lately.

Good evening OT
How have you been guys?
currently I'm not following any drama. These days I attend korean language classes at my university and I've been enjoying it a lot. It's so fun meeting people who are korea fans like me.
I Also went to watch a ballet at Opera house the story was about "The love of Chun hyang" which is a very famous traditional love story. It was my first time watching a ballet. I enjoyed it a lot and everything about it was perfect . From the costumes to the arrangements and the performances of the dancers were wonderful..

Also, I can't believe it's already been a year since the sinking of the Sewol, the anniversary was yesterday.

I saw articles about the victims' families and the continuing debate on whether to raise the ferry out of the water or not, and all I can think is how unfair and horrible it is that innocent people died completely preventable deaths. And how difficult it must be for those who remain - survivors, families, friends, the people who assisted in the search. I really hope something like this never happens again.

Casually enjoying Smelly Girl, easy, uncommitted entertainment.

Suspending Falling for Innocence, uninspired and stale, especially for a cable drama. Doesn't feel like jTBC at all.

Starting and catching up on Grapevine, which is the opposite to the above: Running on one of the big three, but it feels SO MUCH like a jTBC show, and an excellent one at that. No likeable characters and such a loveable show.

I finally found a language course (online, of course, and self-directed) through our library's database that seems to be working better for me (except that the font they're using for Hangul is less clear, but at least the pronunciation is good). It started with verb conjugation, which is something that I haven't been able to find. It shows you the word & the English equivalent (& a poorly-romanized interpretation), and says it. When you finish the flashcards, it goes through them as a drill until you say you know that word.

I had to turn off their (cracked-out*) phonetic spellings, and write down my own cracked-out** Romanization, but I'm figuring it out. I have this weird feeling that my pronunciation has a Spanish accent, because I spell a lot of words w/Spanish conventions.

(*Seriously. 'ottoke' they transcribed as 'wah koh keh'. WTF?)

(**Mine are something like 'cuñogai-ita' for 'she is' - so, weird, but at least within the freaking ballpark).

I suddenly discovered that this program has a 'check your pronunciation' component, which is awesome and weird at the same time.

I know I'm hearing a 'ta' at the end of 'she is/I am' words, but it won't say I'm pronouncing it right unless I say 'da'. However, all the words I learned from K-dramas I get a "that sounded fluent!" score. ::laugh:: Comsamnida, k-dramas!

Someone mentioned Faith a few weeks ago. They said they didn't want to watch Kim Min-ho in anything else, because Faith was just so perfect. That was such a great endorsement that I just had to watch it. And yes, it was excellent! I especially loved Kim Hee-sun in it. She was the whole series, as far as I'm concerned, and Kim Min-ho was delicious eye candy, especially in the last scene, where he has facial hair, and looks even more devastatingly handsome.

Watched Operation Proposal. I didn't let the always-problematic quirkiness of time travel bother me. I just enjoyed it. Yoo Seung-ho was great in it, as were all the actors. I'm glad I read up on Yoo Seung-ho before watching it. About his movie, The Way Home. It allowed me to get an "in" joke in one of the episodes, which otherwise would have whooshed right over my head.

An interesting tidbit - the doctor got an eye injury while filming for real and was written out (yep an untimely death).

Hi again OT,

So, it's taken me forever to finish Pinocchio and Kill Me, Heal Me. Like, I've been watching the last episode of Pinocchio for 3? 4 days already? Keep getting interrupted!

I'll have to say that Pinocchio did turn out more or less as I'd expected, though I hadn't expected the mothers to play such a huge role in the end... The last few episodes felt rushed in a not-so-ideal way. I dislike how much of the story is told (at the end) through tv news reports aired in quick succession, though I do understand the producer/writer(s)' pressure to reach the ending, given episode limits. But the pace is jarring compared to the leisurely pace of the first 3/4s of the show.

Although so many dramas feature this plot line/development, I'm personally not a fan of stories about characters whose direction and purpose in life become "fixed" due to traumatic childhood events. It seems more of the norm that as one grows up, one becomes distracted by other things and life takes on other purposes than the pursuit of justice for a wronged past.

In the beginning of Pinocchio, all the characters seem to be on a "normal" track. Dal-Po and Yin-Ah (sorry if spelt wrong) may not have even become reporters. And Hyung, while conflicted and tragic, was leading a harmless, solitary life as a delivery man. Of course there would've been no story, had Dal-Po not gone on that game show for the sake of confessing his feelings for Yin-Ah... But it didn't seem all that believeable to me that Dal-Po, who'd worked so hard throughout his childhood at being anonymous and (essentially) becoming another person, would suddenly turn around and be so focused on getting justice for his original family. And Yin-Ah never had resentment of her mother at all?? Kinda hard to believe in such a saintly, all-forgiving, so-very-likeable character.

I don't mean the performances were wanting... I enjoyed watching mainly BECAUSE OF the performances, the familial bonds/bonding, and comedic moments (cued by cutesy soundtrack), but not because of the simplistic (and to me, not very believable) plot. In it's simplistic yet enjoyable qualities, I was definitely reminded of I Hear Your Voice...

Hi guys and gals... it's been a while since I've posted anything on OT

I'm still in the middle of Hogu's Love withdrawal... and Unfortunate Boyfriend doesn't fill that whole because even though he's a hogu-type he's almost too much of a hogu to function in real life.

Angry Mom was a great find and am thoroughly enjoying kangja's bangwool days and everything is just so great.

On the other side of the spectrum: Super Daddy Yeol:
Lee Dong Geun should just avoid all dramas with main characters named Mirae. Oops and there's going to be a spoiler here ****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************The only one I love whole heartedly is Sarang because I'm so proud of her being the most adult in the whole show. Mirae is an annoying yappy child who never got over being the smartypants bossy girl role. How can she decide that it's better to leave him and completely traumatize her daughter as well as the man she loves. I'm suspecting she loves nobody as well as she loves herself. As for Han Yeol, why is he so cold? It was just too sad to see him ignore Sarang while she's pulling at him calling him dad!!! how can he not even give her a hug?? At least to tell her that he too loved her as his child? he didn't call her my daughter and right now I was so upset at what the Dr. hoobae that loves mirae revealed. why??!???
anyways that's my rant for now.

I've been starting too many dramas because of my attention span which is not so lengthy. I'm stocking on episodes of ongoing shows because, yeah, they're ongoing and I really hate waiting. The downside to that is when I'm about to start my marathon, I realize that I've lost interest. Anyway, enough of that.

ANGRY MOM - Like I said, I'm waiting for more episodes. But 6 episodes in and I'm loving it. Kim Hee Sun's badassery and mother-daughter hijinks, need I say more? Oh and there's Ji Soo and Ji Hyun Woo.

THE GIRL WHO SEES SMELLS - I love this show and the OTP. I used to be indifferent to both of the leads. But now I find them endearing. And props to Nam Goong Min. I feel so sorry for Song Jong Ho. Does the saying "Always the bridesmaid, never the bride." suit him too?

ROOKIES - Is it too late for this? Haha. I've been a fan of the manga. But I was never tempted to watch the drama. Like how I don't have any interest in watching in watching Catching Fire and Mockingjay after reading the books(too late for Hunger Games, heh). Back to the drama or Jdorama. It's my first Jdorama(unless you count Kamen Rider Blade and the little I've watched of Itazura) and I loved it. Mostly because I'm a sucker for baseball, delinquents and awesome teachers. That show combined 'em and made me a fan of Keisuke Koide.

PUNCH - Liking it so far and I'm halfway through. But I suddenly lost interest for some reason that I don't know. Ugh. The leads are awesome though.

BAD GUYS - I have a thing for anti-heroes so I'm so onboard with this drama. But I've only started it.

IN TIME WITH YOU - 2 eps in and I'm liking it. I started to know what's so good about it. And I'm not disappointed. YET.

THE LOVER - This show is so hilarious. I've never laughed so much. Mad props to Mnet for being so brave. Never thought kdramas would do this. Oh and the bromance. The 1 ep per week is killing me.

PERSEVERE GU HAE RA - I don't know how to feel about this show. It's only 12 eps and I've watched 11. But for some reason, I just can't bring myself to watch the last ep. I love the music and Perseverance but the love triangle frustrates me. I had expectations for the show so I'm quite disappointed. I feel like there's so much unnecessary angst. This coming from a sucker for melos. I'm used to makjang. Even 100 eps makjang. But I just can't. But I'll still watch that last ep. Someday. Heh.

MY SASSY GIRL - I know. I know. I'm 14 years too late. But better late than never, right? Anyways, I loved this and Jeon Ji Hyun was so awesome. I've only seen 2 eps of YFAS, the drama I said I'd watch since a year ago, so I didnt know of JJH and her awesomeness. DIDN'T.

WINDSTRUCK - Despite many people saying this was average compared to Sassy Girl, I was tempted to watch it and I liked JJH here more than MSG.

O_o. My watchlist is growing longer. So enough of my rant. :)

So. Series Finale of Blood.

Good lord, this was a confused mess of a series. Apparently, the ratings did well? I just don't even know.

The last episode was more of the same. Sitting villains, awkwardly standing minions, so much slo-mo. Kwon Hyun Sang at least had a few lines and a couple of sexyish fight scenes, but not nearly enough to make up for watching this whole thing.

So at the end they went for melo instead of humor, but the ending undercut any emotional punch there was. And the ending totally blew off at least two storylines (what happened to those characters we saw every week? Who knows?)

Here's hoping that Kwon Hyun Sang's next series will be a much meatier role....and that Scholar Who Walks the Night will be everything Blood wasn't. ::crosses fingers::
