Lee Jun-ki courted to become vampire scholar of the night

Lee Jun-ki, for vampire-fantasy-period drama Scholar Who Walks the Night? Well now you’ve put the idea in my head and it can’t be un-put! I want this bad and I want it now, and you can’t backtrack because I won’t let you! Stamps feet.

(Also, Lee Jun-ki should always do sageuks, preferably of the fantasy variety. Stunts a given, brooding required, pretty pretty hanboks just icing on the cake. He utterly had my heart in Arang and the Magistrate with his subdued intensity… but of course, then he goes and is perfect in modern thrillers like Two Weeks, so I can’t insist too hard on my own rule.)

Scholar Who Walks the Night has flirted with a number of big-name leading men but hasn’t yet gotten one to stick past the “maybe considering possibly” stage — Kim Soo-hyun and Park Hae-jin were two earlier possibilities floated in the news. So there’s a pretty fair shot that Lee Jun-ki’s casting may not come to fruition either — his reps confirmed that he’s considering the offer, but that they’re still just in the talking-it-out stage — but I really do hope it’ll work out. Even if I’m already tired of all the vampire dramas, and could really do without the glut.

The series is based (of course) on a manhwa and has been in planning since last year. Set in the Joseon period, the heroine (the offer for which is currently out to Han Groo) comes from an aristocratic family that has fallen on hard times and disguises herself in men’s clothing to sell books, and falls in love with a vampire scholar. So yeah, okay, maybe it sounds a lot like Sungkyunkwan Scholar, although if Lee Jun-ki and Han Groo sign on, I won’t even care if it’s more like Scholar Who Walks the Twilight (…please don’t be Scholar Who Walks the Twilight!).

Scholar Who Walks the Night is planning for a July premiere on MBC.

Hmm not so sure about Han Groo in sageuk. I would rather see Park Min Young or SHIN MIN AH (although both are impossible :( )

OMG! I hope this will be realized. Lee Jun Ki's role in Arang and the Magistrate has totally won me and before I knew it, I'm already binge watching almost all his dramas. Sigh. Though most vampire movies and dramas are quite exasperating, I still don't mind watching them as long as they're beautifully executed and that the vampire lore is rich. And of course, who could resist Lee Jun Ki's charm?

Technically it's not because as far as I know, so far he's done: Arang (saeguk), Two Weeks (modern), Joseon Gunman (saeguk), Begin Again (modern movie).

YAS! Aw man, best news! I've been patiently waiting for Lee Jun-ki drama news, and now he might be pairing up with Han Groo? Kick ass. As in, they would make a kick ass couple--all the while kicking ass, too. I love this and GAH, I can already imagine the awesomeness. Now, we wait...

i like LJG's acting so much that it raised the standard of my liking on actors' acting.. he was really good in arang. and some peoples have said about him being overacting?
if you said about overacting, then in my opinion it should be on Han Groo's side. just look at Marriage not dating. #thumbdown

i really wanted to support this drama if he accepted. but if it's Han Groo, then i think i would given up just how i did for two weeks and gunman in joseon. :(
heroine does matter to me.

We should first check how the story goes if our biases are in, not the heroine. I will left about Joseon Gunman.
But ''Two Weeks'' becomes my all-time favorite! His performance is daebak as always, and I ended up loving all his co-stars there. They had great chemistry esp. with his gf and daughter. That drama is just so amazing.

I hope the same things come to this scholar vamp drama if he accepts it ;)

Lee Junk Ki + Saeguk = I'm all in.

He is the undisputed King of fusion (or any) Saeguk in my opinion. I agree, nobody pulls off the hanbok, the action and the brooding better than him. How can they even consider anyone else?

I'm not a fan of vampire series at all. I've successfully avoided all vampire series to date, but if Lee Jun Ki is in this one, then I'm there.
