Ghost-Seeing Detective Cheo-yong returns for a second season
by girlfriday
Cable network OCN’s paranormal crime procedural Ghost-Seeing Detective Cheo-yong is gunning for a second season this year. It’s a show that had relatively low buzz despite good numbers (2.7% ratings back when it aired last February to April), though at this point a second season is almost a given for OCN dramas. Leading man Oh Ji-ho (Maids) and idol Jeon Hyo-sung (There Is a Cat) have signed on to return as the ghost-seeing detective and the teenage ghost who helps him solve his cases.
The supernatural thriller stars Oh Ji-ho as the titular Cheo-yong, a man born with the power to see ghosts. He has a tragic past, of course, in which he loses his family and partner, sending him into a seven-year isolation period as far away from his old life as possible. He spends a lot of time ignoring the spooks that try to get his attention, until Jeon Hyo-sung comes around.
She plays a schoolgirl ghost with a bright personality, and for the first time, he finds himself answering back and engaging with a ghost. With the help of the schoolgirl ghost and along with his partner Oh Ji-eun (Tell Me Your Wish), he begins to solve violent crimes again, and uses his powers to decipher “dead signs” that victims leave behind.
At the helm are PD Kang Chul-woo (who worked on Heartless City) and writer Hong Seung-hyun (who worked on Joseon X-Files). Neither was the head writer or PD for those shows, but they are impressive credits, and Cheo-yong was praised for its dark horror/suspense edge to the usual crime procedurals that OCN offers.
Ghost-Seeing Detective Cheo-yong 2 plans to start shooting in June.

Crime fluff and pretty messy, but I liked the three main characters and want to know more about them and see them. So I will follow if they cast Oh Ji Eun again and we get the same trio working cases.

Yes. Love the three main characters. They have their own personalities and problems that make them endearing to us.
I was hoping for a sequel because I don't want the show to stop. Now, it's finally here.
In the shipping department, I'm rooting for the duo Oh. But the ghost girl is also lovable, her crush is so adorable.

The season 1 was pretty great! If you guys love supernatural thriller, suspense and crime, you should watch this! I love the part about the ghost (played by Jeon Hyo-sung) and that the detective (played by Oh Ji-ho) is the only who is able to see her.

I liked the first season, but didn't Jeon Hyo-sung's ghost pass on at the end?

She supposedly passed, but made a comeback in the final scene for some mysterious, supernatural reason that probably had to do with ratings and sequels.

This drama slipped by me. I thought it aired more recently than last year.
I hope it wasn't too gruesome. Maybe I'll give it a try.

I really tried to get into this for the first run, but try as I might could not. Oh Ji Ho is a fine specimen of a man, great to look at, but sometimes that is all and not enough. I am enjoying ’Maids’ now, but again, he is almost trading on looks and not an ability to act.
I might try this one again, to see if different time or place makes a difference? I first saw him in ’Chuno’ and fell in like with him and so many of the actors/characters. He had a good range of emotions and facial features going in this one that seem to be lacking in others I try him in. Who could ask for a better teaming here of him and Jang Hyuk?? Heavy pant - blissful sigh!!!

I liked this drama well enough between the male lead and ghost but the female lead's character was a little... hm, under done? Not by the actress but as written for the show. Plus I did not buy their romance. There are some shows that just seem like they would be better without the romance!

I watched the first two episodes because I really like crime, horror, and thrillers; however, I was left disappointed. Oh Ji Ho is such a handsome man but his acting in this drama was so-so. Oh Ji Eun is such an okay actress that is quite dull that I skipped her parts. My favorite character is Han Na Young. I can't help but compare this drama to "Border" (Japanese drama with the same elements) and "Border" executed it well with solid performances and well written plot.

And now for the coherent response:
I still haven't finished the last episode of the first season, because when I do, it'll be over. So you can imagine how happy I am to hear this news. :)
