I'm interested because of the cast and because it seems like a big step out of not Mnet's comfort zone but out of the comfort zone of the Korean media as a whole. I can't ever remember seeing anything with unmarried couples, who actually choose to live together, not counting the age old drama practice of forcing near strangers to live together.

i dont know why but im excited for joonyoung and yeojin's story. haha im familiar with how JY is in 1N2D and i cant imagine how he will do this acting lovey-dovey with a noona (well, not counting WGM because it was scripted meant to be shown unscripted romance -__-). im excited! too bad its in the 1 ep per week format again!

Okay, this sounds adorable and hilarious and definitely not the usual drama fare. And I do love Choi Yeo-Jin. I hope it ends up being good. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I won't be watching. I do not want the Korean dramas to become like the American shows. I like the modest romances. I do not watch American t.v. anymore because it has become so sexual. I am afraid it is a slippery slope that I hope the Korean dramas avoid. I do not want them to compromise the very principles that are making them popular in the U.S. - innocent, fun shows!

Geezzz.. how can only keep up a facade while living together. I recall one of my married girlfriends told me that after married for more than 10 years, her hubby still hasn't seen her bare face. I asked how she managed that, she said that she makes sure he falls asleep before she does, and wakes up before he does....It's as good as pretending girls don't fart, pluck our hairs or shave or legs or do big business. lolx

I think it's a great challenge for unorthodox KDramas. It's not so American (it's wrong to say that living together is so sexual). It's fun about young people questioning their values of life and jump off or compromize the traditional values. It will be so interesting for the story itself.

Note:
Long before, American had FRIENDS sitcom, Japan already had Tokyo Love Story. It's not always sexual. It's about our youth life.

That's I think it's also worth for watching.

Just caught first Episode. The Lover manages to be crude & cute at the same time if that's possible. It's a very funny show especially Oh Jung Se. Wait till you see the scene where his neighbours are being noisy lol. My favourite couple if I had to choose are Joon Young & Choi Yeo Jin...but that's cos I'm partial to Noona Romance ;-) and what can I say about the Bromance couple except one word...Hot! . All in all it's a suprising but truthful observation at what couples get up to in the privacy of their own homes. I will definitely be catching all the episodes if Episode 1 is anything to go by.

Just finished watching the second episode and wow this drama had me in stitches for most of it. I have to say the most amusing pairing is Lee Jae-joon and Takuya, purely because of their dynamic where you aren't actually sure what they feel about each other. Some very funny scenes with the two of them. I know it's unlikely but I would really love them to develop into an actually romantic line, they seem to have to most compatibility of all (always excluding our leads). MNET, MAKE IT HAPPEN!

i like the drama with adult scene,,never seen before

i hate it !! i watched the first and second episode to giveit a chance but the humor is so sexual an dirtyand just like american sitcoms...i absoloutley prefer the other regular kdramas !! I pray to god that this drama was just a bad expaction. I have no problem with people living together before marriage thogh... but its all on how they portray it... in this drama it seems like they are just always horny for each other an EVERYONE is smoking ... Why?
the bromance couple is okay i think ... but the rest i dont like at all ...its not even realistic and doesnt portray korean lifestyle at all...sorry but i think i can give my honest opinion

I love this drama. Finally some normal ppl Doing funny stuff. Korean drama usually has unrealistic expectations, they all act like virgins, they even bring that subject up in The lovers. Congrats for this great tv show!

I've been watching it since yesterday. I randomly found it on Viki and decided to give it a try, even though I was trying to find more in the way of jdrama, since I haven't seen a lot of those. I think I've only really seen a little of Kazoku Game and Attention Please!, but I've seen at least 10 kdramas now.

I also really enjoy the time that gets put into relationships in Kdrama and I feel like not having them jump into sex right away is a good way to keep their romance developing at a nice steady pace, which I really don't feel like American tv shows do very well, a lot of the time. There's always a lot of tension building up just to that first kiss and it's nice to be able to have that kind of tension building and finally pay off.

However, it's a matter of how well the show writers can develop characters, too, so I'm sure a relationship that does get sexual quickly or maybe even doesn't take that much time to develop CAN be riveting to watch, still. Even in such a sexual show like Empire, I still felt tension and was waiting with bated breath for Cookie and Lucius to finally kiss each other after having been away from each other for so long. So I know it depends a lot on writers, and there's also a difference to take into consideration with the way that American shows are planned/executed in comparison to Kdrama and the like.

I really enjoy pretty much all the characters in this show and it's made me laugh at some of the more ridiculous bathroom humor gags, which is not something I will usually do because I hate bathroom humor. And it's definitely interesting to see something look into what I feel is a more realistic portrayal of relationships.

It's also kind of interesting to me personally because the only gay character I've ever seen was in Secret Garden, and I felt like it was a fairly good portrayal that treated the character like a human, not some funny stock character, but it's not like he's a main character, so, at least to me, there feels like there's less of a risk in having a character like that, there. And besides that, there's the 'not actually a guy because it was a woman crossdressing' stories that get to avoid going through with anything because 'Psych! Actually a woman the whole time, this character isn't gay! Haha!'

There's issues with this in American television, too, obviously. I don't really like how Takuya and Joon Jae are used as a shock device for the others in the apartment. The two themselves/together are good, and I honestly hope the show goes through with it and ACTUALLY explores it, rather than skirting around/just using them for comedy reasons, I do feel like there's a nice balance of comedy and serious tension between them right now. I feel like both characters are pretty well written, though with Sakuya I feel like we could be getting a lot more depth to his character. Hopefully we'll get to explore what I feel are some real hidden depths and get a more serious look...

Also, I know this probably won't be given any mind, but the show has so far portrayed them like a pretty viable couple. Sure there's the shock/humor factor to them for the others and the show COULD do something to portray them more sincerely in that way, but the attraction doesn't seem like a one-way street. Sakuya's a bit more playful/possibly looking at Joon Jae as a one time thing (whereas, I would say that Joon Jae is probably very likely bi/pansexual given the miscommunication about 'jerseys' and how excited he got over the porn his friend sent him that featured women. I mean I SERIOUSLY doubt they'd ever portray the character as anything different than gay, it's such a binary and like, possibly one of the raunchiest shows we have here is Orange is the New Black and even they can only seem to use the word 'bisexual' mockingly, so I won't expect much from Kdrama for sure) but after that one scene with the nail in episode 3, Sakuya is at least somewhat there, if he wasn't already.

So, with saying that, don't call them a 'bromance.' It's honestly the most ridiculous and invalidating term people use to avoid acknowledging there might be a ROMANCE between two men. It's not a cute word, at all, and I might be able to ignore it if I did feel like they were just being toted around as a joke/strong male friendship, but it's just ridiculous to see being used. I know there aren't a lot of lgbtqia characters available in drama, but I cringed so hard when I saw 'the dangerous bromance' as a descriptor for them. Just. Please. Don't. Please give a little more thought to what's being implied with terms like 'bromance' And also please give a lot of thought to why the hell anyone would ever want to describe something as a 'dangerous bromance.'

Yes, there are very real dangers in society to being gay, so I can understand it being used that way, but it's still ridiculous to call it something like that, there are other ways to communicate that without using words like. That..

Actually, if I could just formally request everyone throw the word 'bromance' out of their vocabulary, in general. There's already a word for what you're trying to describe! Don't pussyfoot around, and if you don't want to or refuse to call it an outright romance, you can say it's 'a strong relationship' or any other already existing words, rather than using a ridiculous homophobic term like that! I realize people won't see anything wrong with it if they've never had anyone bring up why it's annoying, but please don't use it if you can avoid it. Thanks

cont.) I believe was episode 4 or 5. Oh Do and Doo Ri are really cute, though, I loved the scene with the old car and how they hid when Doo Ri's mom came over. And then Seol Eun and Hwan Jong are also very enjoyable. I was a little put off when I first saw them because I forgot there was going to be a fourth couple and was honestly looking more foward to getting back to Room 609 or 709, but the scene with her 'crying' in the kitchen was fantastic.

I feel like portraying more sexual relationships (and that Ridiculous neighing horse every time Doo Ri/Oh Do have sex.. honestly..) doesn't pull away from it being a kdrama. There's still a distinctly different feel to American tv shows, and I feel like it's definitely worth at least giving it a shot. The characters are all pretty endearing and the sexual scenes are really not very explicit. At least from an American point of view, they aren't very explicit. The most explicit thing I think is probably Oh Do's birthday (which became oddly Sims 2 like) and Jean's present from France. Very tame sex scenes, though they should probably be watched with headphones. There's also a lot of bathroom and dick jokes. Including a weird dick made out of eggshells and all the weird jokes Sakuya keeps making, NOT to even get into Young Joon's jokes. But it cuts away before you see much of anything, compared to American tv shows.

I think it's definitely worth giving a shot, maybe try and get past episode 1 if you don't like it. I mean, don't push yourself to like it, but the characters are fun and it's kind of cool to see when they intersect/ or react to things the others are doing. I hope to see more good episodes from the show, and I'm sad it's apparently almost over!

Woooww i love this drama :) But my favourite is couple from 709 room. Takuya and Lee Jae-joon they're must be together :)

Thanks for the drama introduction! I'm now completely hooked on The Lover via Viki. It's a nice break from historical k-drama.

I thought The Producer was funny. Well, that was until I watch this one, The Lover.
Especially that skinny guy, because I watch 2D1N too
