Introducing Divorce Lawyers (about to be) in Love
by javabeans
Here’s our first teaser for SBS’s upcoming rom-com Divorce Lawyer in Love, and while it only gives us the briefest glimpse of the setup, I can picture the leads, Yeon Woo-jin (Marriage Not Dating) and Jo Yeo-jung (Haeundae Lovers), having some cute chemistry. It’s the kind of show that’ll live or die based on that chemistry, so it had better be crackling, that’s for sure.
The drama has the two playing divorce attorneys, where he was once her office staffer and haaaaated his rude lawyer boss. He became a lawyer afterward, and when they reconnect years later, he’s now her superior, making for a “refreshing revenge and sweet romance.” Funny how one drama can be both things, but I’m looking forward to it, especially since I can totally see Yeon Woo-jin being hilariously petty.
The teaser gives each character a chance to sell their services to an unseen potential client (while the other hangs about in the background looking skeptical). Yeon Woo-jin adopts a sympathetic tone as he says understandingly how the woman must be confused about whether she’s a wife or a maid, and hands over his card. I’m pretty sure they gave his character, So Jung-woo, that surname just so they could make a whole bunch of sobyun jokes (lawyers often refer to each other using their surname and the word byun, short for attorney, and sobyun happens to also mean pee). Then it’s Jo Yeo-jung’s turn to talk to the unseen husband, after which she introduces herself as lawyer Go Cheok-hee.
Divorce Lawyer in Love will be a 16-episode weekend SBS drama, and premieres in mid-March.

So cute! I fell in love with Yeon Woo-Jin after MND, so now I'll watch him in anything. Thankfully, this one looks like a winner.

Heeeeee so cute! I'm just looking forward to Yeon Woo-jin doing another comedy because he is hilarious. I've never watched Jo Yeo-jung but I guess there's a first in everything.
Also, not too keen on the whole lawyer bit (have I ever) but who cares. Bring on the laughs and the cutes.

Lets see, Yoon Woo-Jin was fantastic in Marriage not dating, hopefully this will be good. It makes me wonder where is Han Groo, I want her in a drama asap.

Yeon Woo Jin in a romcom, COUNT ME IN. :) Please let this be good but I'm not going to keep my expectations high since this is not tvN and it might go melodrama.
Now it's time for Han Groo to land a leading role in one of the big 3.

Is anyone else as bothered by the plain blue/purple backgrounds as I am...? It just doesn't look right...

YES! even the fonts and text on the images make it seem like the producers couldn't be bothered to put together real promo materials.. these just look like mock-ups or the first draft of something that just never got finished. is this drama low-budget or what :|

I also dislike how blurry she is in the background vs. how clear and distracting he is when it's his turn to be in the background. They're trying to set up an equal dynamic when it is anything but.

I think they are poorly made. Other than the terrible choice of colours, the third image has a spot – like when you've got a dirt particle on your camera lens – meaning they just slapped those images together and basically did no editing.
Seems like someone had no photoshopping skills or they ran out of time!

Looks like green-screen that never got filled in with the background. Sometimes they come out with early, hastily made promos just to generate some publicity. I remember the first promos for "Marriage Not Dating" were so quick and told nothing. And then better ones came out.

I love them both, I wanted Jo Yeo Jung in a good drama. She has that personality I like in real person and Yeon Woo jin is made for comedy. He should never do shows like "when a man loves" OMG I hated his character in that show and everyone. I would have killed all characters. ughhh.

You are so right! He really is gifted at comedy and can also be very smart-alecky and cute, and then he will shift on a dime into emotional drama. "When a Man Loves" was such a badly written drama. But it really worked out the best for him out of the entire cast. Gave him great exposure and not being the lead, he had nothing to lose. I really think it was that show that got him the attention he deserved. With MND we suddenly found out how brilliant he is at comedy. So looking forward to this series!

I love the idea of this plot and I'm looking forward to more of YWJ! However, why are these promos so so ugly and boring?

since they've both acted in comedy drama before, i don't doubt their acting... but as for the chemistry, lets watch first. Except for I need Romance (which happens to be the reasons why I'm in love with the I Need Romance franchise, lol), I actually haven't found any other drama that Jo Yeo Jung acting in that I like. And I love love love Yeon Woo-jin! Marriage not dating is one of the best drama i'd watched last year so i'm expecting a lot from this one.

I mistook Jo Yeo Jung for Han Jim Min from Gag Concert. She certainly has enough oil sprayed on her face.

The posters look so cheaply made. Did production team spend all the money on late night snacks? lol
I can make a better poster. Hire me SBS.

but still, i love Jo Yeo Jung, not much happy with her drama (and i think she's always have these liberal roles) but i think she's good in romcoms!
