girlfriday: So… you know that drama that Song Jae-rim was considering? He’s doing it now.

javabeans: Oh. Unkind Women, you mean? About three generations of… unkind women?

girlfriday: Yes. See how the title speaks for itself?

javabeans: So he’s going to romance Lee Hana (High School King of Savvy)… who I like… I guess… and I also don’t have any problems with dramas about less-than-conventionally-pleasing heroines… but also KBS is telling us nothing other than that three generations of unkind women will be played by Kim Hye-ja (Mother), Chae Shi-ra (Iron Empress), and Lee Hana. So… not much to get excited about.

girlfriday: Yeah it’s more like a family weekend drama plot, but it’s airing on Wednesday-Thursday for some odd reason.

javabeans: Well, if the drama doesn’t give me a reason to get excited, I’ll have to create my own reasons. By which I mean posting Song Jae-rim’s abs. Remember when he looked like this?

girlfriday: I DO remember that. That’s pretty much the main thing I remember about him — I thought he looked like a really pretty, really airheaded surfer dude.

javabeans: Korea’s answer to Keanu Reeves, you mean.

girlfriday: Is that a question that needed an answer?

javabeans: Probably not, but hey, extra photos never hurt anybody. I do feel like it’s worth pointing out that Song Jae-rim seems too good for a lot of the stuff he acts in… but that’s his decision, so also, maybe it’s his cross to bear.

girlfriday: At least this time he’ll play the hero and get the girl, and stop being the OTP-killer that he is in every other drama.

javabeans: This is the assumption. But let’s not assume anything with Song Jae-rim, because knowing him, he’ll find a way to crush our hopes and end up single and sad anyway. I still can’t believe I sat through Nail Shop Paris, 95% because of him. And 95% of 10 hours is 9.5 hours, which is how much time he now owes me.

girlfriday: I’m sure he can do a lot in 9.5 hours.

javabeans: Here’s a retrospective, to spur your imaginations. Not that your imaginations needed spurring.

Yeah. A lot of us have sat through some of his not so stellar shows just to watch him. (Hello age of feeling) cause he's a rather charismatic scene stealer. I hope he will be able to grab a great project in the future as he continues to prove himself and grow as an actor. Wouldnt have thought that for a dude like him variety would be the kind of area he made the most impact and success in compared to the drama world but congrats on his most recent best rookie award at MBC entertainment awards.

Unfortunately it seems like he'll be suffering yet another one of those variety + drama commitments simultaneously so his health will certainly take a toll. Hope his wgm wifey will tone down her punishments and beating threats and give him some much needed love drugs.

I am excited! The good thing is no matter how much he hasn't even gotten the girl in dramas, he has kim so eun in real life which makes up for everything lol

while I agree that a pretty face alone isn't enough but to his defense, he's never really got any challenging role where he could display whatever skills he has. he's showed some potential but the roles were so limited he couldn't really do much (much to our general chagrin and frustration) so we're still waiting for when he is offered something he really can work with to make a final a judgment

I hope uri Rim gets Kim So-eun, mary, or another equally awesome woman in real life, 'cause the wonderfully devoted cheezeball is clearly meant to be in love.

I hope the women in this drama aren't too unkind for long. Looking forward to seeing SJR and LH together~ I'm fond of both of them.

Thanks, but it's not really impressive because I just used the search function (cntrl + F on Windows, or command + F on a Mac). You just need to be on the right page for that to work. It's the only shortcut I know for finding one's own comments~ does anybody have a better way?

Song Jae-rim has an irrepressible charm about him, can't quite pin it down. He can definitely channel the personality of the characters I've seen him cast in. Have recently found a site to watch "We Got Married"; I like all the current cast, but Song Jae-rim has a special place in this mother's heart -- he will make a wonderful husband someday. Can't believe he's almost 30.

SJR's squee-worthy in wgm, if you haven't watched it, you should!

Him and Kim So Eun are the ultimate reality couple that makes you want to ship them through high water and hell fires just to get a glimpse of their lovable skinship. If you just walk into the Soompi thread shipping these two, you'll be like "OMO! You, byuntaes!", coz that's how much love the SoLim couple recieves. If you haven't watched wgm SoLim episodes, watch it now! They're the "IT" Couple these days. Hell, they even won a couples award.

About Lee Hana, I'm not much excited. To be truthful, I stopped watching High School King Of Savvy because of her. I started because of SIG, but I didn't like the lack of chemistry between her and SIG. And SIG had amazing chemistry with Jung Eun Ji in Reply 1997. It's the only drama I've watched of Lee Hana, and I don't like her. Don't bash me, it's just my opinion. And it has nothing to do with my love for SoLim couple. I just don't like Lee Hana's over-reactions. Younger stars do better.

Anyway, the title of this upcoming drama is weird and somehow portrays Rimmie, imo, as a playboy. Loving women of three generations? That's hard work, dude, even for the King Of Cheese and the founder of Kim So Eun's softer real side. I hope he wins throughout, won't get hurt, won't hurt any woman and get the girl by the end of the day.

Also, can I suggest a Kim So Eun cameo yelling, "Nampyeon!"

Ditto! I stopped watching HSKS because of Lee Hana too. I originally started it out of love for SIG because I really liked him in Reply 1997 but for the love of mercy, I cannot get past Lee Hana's acting. I thought it was just me. I'm glad someone out there felt the same way. :)

Yup! I don't think he even had a dialogue in Two Weeks, nevertheless, his facial expression and body language is enough to convey his character. Also, I'm not sure if some of you ladies saw him playing saxophone on NSL Korea (Know you by heart, originally played by Dave Koz) if not check it out, my heart skipped a little. He has a lot of hidden talents. :)

Hahaha, I can list them all here for you right now. Brief glimpse in episode 4, end of episode 5, beginning of episode 6, end of episode 8, first half of episode 9, another brief glimpse in episode 15, most of episodes 16 and 17 (17 is the Mo Il Hwa episode basically, hee), then random short scenes from episode 18 all the way through 24. And no, I did NOT have all his scenes memorized. Not at all. I was not THAT obsessed with Mo Il Hwa/SJR, no sirree. *whistles*

Also, sorry, it's actually episode 16 that is the "Mo Il Hwa is awesome fan service" episode. But I'd say 16 and 17 together are the ones to check out if you're short on time, followed by 8 and 9. Also Mo's badass formal entrance introduction at the end of episode 5.

Oh wow! That is awesome. Since I've seen so little of SJR, I'm not so knowledgeable of his acting but I get that he's really charming and cute of course. :) The intense loyalty of his fans here makes me feel like I'm missing out. I've never skipped around and watched bits of a drama for one actor but it sounds like fun. I'm gonna try it! Thanks, Merce ;)

jensredshoes, the funny thing is that prior to WGM, SJR's image was that of a mysterious, cold and aloof badass. With the exception of his role in Nail Shop Paris (which I think most people haven't watched), all of his more well-known roles were literal badasses on both the good and evil sides. So this last year has really been a revelation to see his cuter and more charming side in WGM and shows like Surplus Princess. And then there's Mo Il Hwa, who's cheeky, badass, charming and mysterious all in one. Go take a look when you get the chance!

Ooo, thanks for episode guide! I had been wanting to check out his scenes b/c I heard good things about the character, but didn't want to sift through the recaps to figure out which eps to watch. Now I just need to have some sembalence of self control and wait until tomorrow to watch those eps and get some sleep now.

And the actresses for the "three unkind women" are pretty good.

Love Sng Jae Rim in We Got Married as nampyon to Kim So Eun! He's been around yeah, loved him in Surplus Primness! SJR's chemistry sizzles with cheesiness---so adorably greasy and the fans just melt--I no doubt am included! SJR brings skinship to a new level that's such so welcome to my eyes!!! It must be another mary... There is another Mary I know (of randomsoju) who loves Rim a lot too.

He was just cutely terrifying in Two Weeks. Then in Inspiring Generation, he kinda steals the show.

Remember how WTF the behind-the-scenes drama of that show was? Unpaid actors. Writer changes. Kim Jae-wook wanting out by ep8 (of 24!) Lots of started but quickly dropped plotlines...

Mo Il Hwa (SJR) was an intriguing character in first half.*** Around ep10, it seemed that the Show would "kthxbai" him away too. But I think there was too much viewer-love for Mo and Rim's portrayal that they put him back starting ep15. Only to have the drama's fans worrying if Mo will die between ep15-24, because it seems everyone was dying around Kim Hyunjoong's char.

Maybe that also contributed to fueling my craziness. Not knowing if your fav char will die or not. I get the draw of Princess Aurora now! Haha

Anyway, I marathoned NSP while worrying over Mo then. I was just blown away at how different Mo and Kei of NSP were and how they can be played by same guy.

*** I shit you not, if you watch that show, Mo Il Hwa is a standout. Or, breeze through the recaps. You'll notice that when Mo shows up, things get REALLY interesting. :)

As for NSP, I wanna write another essay on why Rim is so great in that. But don't wanna sound like a crazy fangirl. (Oups. Too late?) Try to read JB's yearend review for 2014. She mentions Rim and NSP there.
