JKS put S.Korea on the world map for me. I first saw his work in September 2013 and since have caught up with all his recent dramas. I have read every interview translated in English and watched every interview on Youtube that was subtitled in English. I own every album he released solo or with Team H. I am extremely impressed with his acting, singing. I don't know Korean or Japanese, but that makes no difference to me. He is an amazing actor and only for his dramas I am happy to read English subtitles for 16-20 hours. Whenever I am stressed, I put earplugs on and listen to his playlist and his voice makes me forget my stress. He is very talented, hard working, sincere, honest, and genuine. He is an amazing son and a proud Korean. It was his high praise for his country and his love for Korea that made me learn more about Korea. I had a desire to visit Korea just because JKS always spoke with so much love and fondness for his country.

Now everything has changed. This whole episode has erased all the goodwill I had for Korea. I keep wondering how can a country treat their own young man with so much hatred, and cruelty. He has been working for over 22 years, most of his earnings are from other countries. One accounting mistake and everything is forgotten. It would appear that Korean media would happily bury him alive, if they could. I am so glad that at least his career as a singer is not trapped within the borders of Korea and his music is loved overseas. I have already pre-ordered his new album+dvd of "Monochrome" even though there is not even a teaser out. That is how much faith I have in his talent. I will continue to support him in every way I can. It is apparent after this fiasco that his own country and country men won't. And instead of visiting Korea to attend JKS's concert or see his country, I will rather visit Japan to see his concert. I hope some in Korea will think over what just happened in their country and for the sake of their young artists do some thinking about how they treat their talent. These artists are real people, with dreams, aspirations, living breathing humans. Would anyone like to be treated the way JKS has been? Would anyone like their children to be treated the way JKS has been??

and now the show is using JKS just to get good ratings... they are even bragging about the good editing done just to get rid of JKS.Hey people show some respect here... JKS is not a newbie in this industry.. He is an actor well-known for his acting skills and I think he has established a name for himself outside Korea. Yep he is not accepted in his own land but he is aware of it that's why he said he has to be number ONE in other country/place to make it balance.As what they say you can't please everyone. JKS just do what you deem is right.. There are many people who love you and will show their support especially during these ODD moments in your life...

Much have been written about sponsors and I thought these are confined to men. It seems like there women sponsors too. If jks did not reject her, he could have been the 'darling of the press'. But good on him for saying 'no' to that amount of money.

I admire JKS because he is 'authentic' . He doesn't kiss anyone's butt to achieve his goals.

There are some comments that he is not a good son. He is - he talks a lot about the funny scenarios at home, his parents are constantly with him wherever he goes and he brings along his maternal and paternal grandparents. His fans know them. And he makes it his responsibility to wash his father and grandfather's cars.

The only thing I have against Jang Geun Suk is that his weepy character was one of the things that destroyed Beethoven Virus. Boy, just thinking of his dopey, smiling face while trying to conduct makes my toes curl... :)

After all the good things PD Na said about the oddball Jang Geun Seok, I actually started having a 'high' hope for him to be one of the few good men in the horrifyingly nasty k-bizz world~ the one that appreciates talents and wants to reach out to those who are not the 'mainstreams'. But then I learn my lesson that having such an expectation will only hurt. Sigh. It's a real pity that this happened and poor Geun Seok had to be 'out of sight' again, especially when his agency had actually clarified everything before. Media are indeed powerful enough to 'steer' people's minds. They create a 'bad image' by twisting info and won't even bother to check the damage. Oh well... I'm saying bye to this show, not even curious anymore after all the 'dramas'. I just hope that Geun Seok will find his way back sooner or later. He's among the few young K-actors I enjoy watching and I believe with his talent he'll be able to survive eventually... maybe starring in J-doramas or Chinese movies? He's still a hallyu star anyway.

Tax evasion? sometimes it's not even the fault of the celebrities. they usually have accountants who does taxation for them.

it also happen to Song Hye Kyo and she was easily forgiven. Poor Jang, so many haters =(

we don't know the whole story…and till it is cleared they have to edit him out if this means there's a court hearing…because this could also damaged both sides of involved parties….
probably i am just hopeful that someday when the timing is right i will see JGS in a variety show not in other country but in korea because admit it or not it won't be the same success if it's not in your home country…even singers wanted always to be recognize by your countrymen because it is still your own home…which reminds me of Tablo and his story…hopefully it will also be a happy ending...

Comparing this situation to North Korea is undermining what the NK citizens are suffering. If SK is NK , JGK is probably now in labour camp or dead.

And thinking that Na PD is all powerful. Really? If Na PD is really that powerful, he should be able toset up his own television network instead of working for TVN.

All this hate over JGS's tax scandal… reminds me of Kang Ho Dong's.

I hope its all a misunderstanding ie issues with accountants and that he can survive this. im not a fan but i think all the hate he is getting is overboard.

My daughter is a fan of JKS. Thus, I came to know about this young man. I work as a tax policy advisor - and I am familiar with South Korea's tax policies, ditto with most countries in the OECD.

Now, what happened to JKS is an outright non-compliance of privacy and confidential clause in each country's tax legislation by the tax agency. As regulator, the tax agency is obligated by law to protect his identity at all cost.

There are many stages of enforcing a tax regulation. All tax agencies are required by law to "make it easy for taxpayers to pay taxes". There are many reasons why taxpayers sometimes miss to declare the exact amount and top reason based on surveys is because the tax agency speaks in jargon. Every legislation should be translated or communicated to tax payers in such a way that a layman (including a street sweeper) can understand the legislation. This is what happened to the accounting firm that JKS hired to file his taxes. The accounting firm missed some lines relative to the notes to financial statements. If you know accounting, you are aware that even $0.01 cent must be looked for so that everything will balance. When his company's financial statements were balanced the tax agency told JKS' company that their payment was not enough. JKS' company agreed and they paid the shortfall amount. This is very common.

Take note that, JKS' company was not referred to prosecution. Meaning to say that all errors were addressed and that they actually complied with legislation. All through this process, JKS' identity must be safe and secured. But it did not happen that way. As a regulator, the tax agency VIOLATED and IS NOT COMPLIANT WITH their own tax legislation. Why was he identified and including the amount due?

All employees of the govt tax agency under OECD countries are required by law to sign a declaration of privacy and confidentiality. Why was he identified?
JKS' name was a toast of the media, the entertainment world, netizens etc. Someone among them fed the media about JKS.

The tax agency violated the rights of JKS as a citizen of Korea. The tax agency, if morale, must initiate the investigation of this violation in privacy. If they refused to do so, JKS has the right to file a complain with SK's Office of the Ombudsman or Privacy Commissioner if they have one. This kind of violation must never happen especially that his tax issue is not subject to prosecution.

If this happens in my country, we will initiate our investigation and seek that person who leaked the details to the media. Dismiss him from office and charge him in court such that he will never be able to work again in the government sector.

In my opinion, the show is a disaster, and must continue talking about JKS
