Is it naive for me to hope that 'guess the husband' game won't happen again? But since they are keeping the franchise name it is unlikely that my wish will ever become true. Can I at least hope for shorter episodes?

On a plus side, I am very exited that it is set in 1988. Those flashbacks in Healer make me really want to see a drama about student political movements of the time. Also, Korean rock music! No K-pop! I am so glad that they chose the 80's instead of catering to Hallyu fans.

I only ask for one thing: Please, no more cute expressions, they always use the same type of characters that don't exist in real life. Please, show us something new and don't use the typical resources

my first thought seeing this was: Oh no, not another one of that "out of these men one of them is my husband" I was so on chilbongi's ship that I cried so much and am still not over it. I did love AM1997 tho

I loved and still loving AM1997, and I'm indifferent on AM1994. They dragged the story way too long, with its 21-episodes and more than one hour duration for each episode. But yeah, the thing that annoyed me so much is the husband hunting. I prefer the team to make something new, too; something fresh, the one that doesn't include the husband hunting.

I really don't like the queer-baiting they've done in this series so far...if they're gonna have a gay character they better give them some depth and an actual loveline.

Reply 1994's ending with Binggeure being applauded for (::::spoiler::::) being a "real man" with a girlfriend just annoyed me beyond belief...

I was hoping for an '80s themed Reply series; will be on board regardless the era or storyline.

Please no more Answer Me series. Can we just cast Seo In Guk and Jung Eun Ji together in another (anniversary) drama of tVn. Period!!!!

Though AM'97 is one of my favorite drama of all time.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with another Answer Me installment. The writing (plot not so much but the details of that period and the characters are great), directing, and acting's always good. My only complain about the last one (and it did affect my enjoyment) was the fan wars. Argh, don't get me started now that I remember how delusional some of the fans were about their bias. Lesson learned. After AM 1994, I refrained from reading through the recap comments of dramas I'm watching so that I can enjoy the dramas for what they are.

Yeah, no more fishing for the husband. And please don't make the eps longer than necessary Other than that, I'm good and fully trust this team. I'm in the minority but I loved Answer Me 1994 more than 1997.

I loved the initial idea of a nostalgic drama. Going back in time to the 90s was what made Reply 1997 so good. But after Reply 1994, I realized there's a whole lot more working for the first franchise that didn't for the second.

Like long episodes to starters. No one ever knew how long an episode would be for 1994 and tvN refused to cut it down to an hour because Of ratings greed. Can't blame them since ratings = money. But there has to be some standard rule. You don't see KBS extending King Family just because it's getting 40+ or SBS extending YFAS because it's their cash cow. It's unprofessional and decreased the drama's quality.

But yes, mostly, can we just not have the stupid who-is-the-husband question floating around. It's annoying, frustrating and tiring. There's a lot more story to be told rather than manipulating your story in order to keep a lame mystery alive. I never felt they did that with 1997, but 1994 was a troll and nothing else to me. At the end, it left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Again People complaining about the " false clues" that they created, trash was the lead, the clues were there, you chose to ignore Who the main girl liked during the whole drama, in the Last episode you hoped she changed her feelings?

Knowing TVN the next installment will involve 5 friends right out of college and their struggles in their new jobs. The mystery will be who will quit his/her job in search of a different path, disappointing family along the way. However we will know from the beginning that this character will start a business that will be extremely successful in Korea in 2015. Title: Misaeng 1988.

So not looking forward to this. I only watched the second Reply series and the bloated length plus the annoying shipping wars was a big turn off. Even if I was a Trash-NJ shipper, there was no enjoyment to it.

I feel so weird for saying this, but I was happy that Chilbongie didn't get the girl in AM94. It made him so much more relatable for me lol

I felt like each character was suppose to represent something that we could all relate to. And Chilbongie represented how some of us had first loves, but we never ended up with them. Or how some of us fall in love with people that we never we would have imagined we would fall in love with. That there are people who are "better" (star athlete, popular, etc) who actually like us, and yet for some reason even when thousands of girls want him, we somehow go for that one person who isn't cool or better looking.

I actually love the AM franchise. I loved the slice-of-life feel and the good old fond memories it brings back. I wasn't around in 88, but I think its a great way of introducing people to things that happened that year and building appreciation. And understanding the people around us who were around during that time.

I do hope the episodes don't increase since it does seem to affect the quality.

Personally I want one more Answer Me series either set in 2000, or call it Answer Me the future and focus on the children of Shi-won and Yoon-jae and their friends and Na-jung and Trash and their friends. Oddly enough they'll all look exactly like their parents bringing the entire casts of Answer Me 97 and 94 back to my screen making me happy regardless of how much of a clusterf**k it becomes.

Whatever they do, they'd have to include Lee Il-Hwa. She was hysterical in both AMs and in Modern Farmer. What is it about her mother characters always having some funny focus on food? I love it and the actress plays it so well.

I have a feeling going that far back won't be as much fun or relatable... unless their target audience is different? The nostalgia won't be same. Can't they do a 2000s?

I think I'm kind of ambivalent to the new series. On one hand I want it but at the same time I was also a victim of second lead syndrome. Overall, I had no qualms with Chilbongie not being the husband. I would prefer mini mysteries like in 1997 such as one couple is getting married who? Who is my husband? There are a million and one different ways to troll. Its just the whole drama should not be like how can we hold onto the second lead shipper audience til the end? Then its more of a game and makes you want to pull your hair out.

The downside is the series will likely fall victim to lengthy bloated episodes, draggy plot, filler scenes with no relevance (hello ahjusshi drowning in the water???), PPL because that's where the real money comes from. I hope I can support the main couple this time who shouldn't be so mysterious to me. 21 episodes later and I still don't know what Trash thinks. The narrative went back and forth with pushing chilbong and trash forward and behind that it forget the real couple of the show: nareki. By failing to expand on Trash's thoughts like YJ there was disconnect with the audience which is why probably many were neutral or chose the other ship.

Urgh... I was hoping there wouldn't be another installment, though I admit I'll probably be watching this one, too.

As others have pointed out it would be nice if the writers/producers switched it up and have it be a guy deciding between two women rather than the woman deciding between two men. Also, I hope there won't be another dead sibling and attraction to a pseudo-sibling situation again even if it ends up being love. Pls no more dead sibling and no more love triangle with pseudo-sibling.

The only thing I would love for them to keep the same are the parents. Honestly, it should be in the contracts that any and all future versions must feature the same parents.

I was born at 1988, so I don't really remember what happened at that time. But I love this idea, but please not "finding the husband" again. Please show!

If they decide to set the next installment in 1988 I will curious to see if they, in any way, will mention or thematize the upheaval in 1987, and the transition from dictatorship to democracy. Obviously, I suspect any real engagement with the dark 1980's will take a back-seat to teen angst and youthful love! :)

Shin PD and the writers are great at writing everyday life and travails with great humor thrown in - so another AM is fine by me.

Just need to do away with the whole "mystery" who is the husband aspect.

I did enjoy both 1997 and 1994 but I do hope that they dont rehash the same old thing with their third series in 1988. The wholething that made 1997 wonderful was that it was refreshing and novel. Hopefully 1988 can have the same magic

I think they should just do a movie where both the casts appear in like the 2000s or something hahaha and then play some JYP music (I don't even know if JYP was popular then...)
