UEE, Choi Woo-shik headline tvN romance drama Ho-gu’s Love

A new tvN drama has just announced its lineup and secured a slot on the scehdule: Based on a webtoon of the same name, the drama is titled Ho-gu’s Love (it can also be translated Fool’s Love, but dramaland loves its punny titles).
Ho-gu’s Love will be headlined by UEE (Gold Rainbow, Jeon Woo-chi) and baby-faced Choi Woo-shik (Fated To Love You, Rooftop Prince) in his first leading role, playing the title character Ho-gu. The character is in his seventh year of attempting to pass the civil service exam, and somehow ends up looking after an unidentified child.
UEE will play “swimming goddess” and national team member Do-hee, while Park Jung-min (formerly of idol group SS501) will play love interest to Ho-gu’s fraternal twin sister Ho-kyung, who has yet to be cast.
I like the leads well enough, but I’m more interested in this drama’s producers, who were last teamed together on tvN’s bubbly rom-com Flower Boy Ramyun Shop — that show was fizzy and adorable, and if they can produce something along those lines, I’d be very happy. Other credits on their respective resumés: PD Pyo Min-soo worked on IRIS 2, You’ve Fallen For Me, Coffee House, The World They Live In, and Full House, while writer Yoon Nan-joong also wrote Queen of the Office and several Drama Specials including The Great Gye Choon-bin.
Furthermore, the creator of the original webtoon for Ho-gu’s Love, Yoo Hyun-sook, was also the artist/creator of the webtoon that was turned into Flower Boy Next Door, which was another sweet romance that aired on tvN. And if I can’t get another Ramyun Shop, I’d love another Flower Boy Next Door instead. Either/or. I won’t be picky!
Ho-gu’s Love is set to follow Monday-Tuesday drama Valid Love and premieres in February.

Finally, CWS got his lead drama. It's about time too. If he gonna romance UEE. This is so funny. Joowon is his hyung in Okjagyo Brother where the GF is UEE. Now, he with Uee. But still he is younger than her in real life.
So this is Park Jung Min first drama under new agency. Can't wait to see his acting and CWS twin too.

Sounds like this could be adorable, the PD seems like a good fit for the premise and vibe they're going for (we'll just ignore Iris 2, I like to pretend it never happened).
Plus I really like Choi Woo Shik and Uee alot, what a (unexpectedly!) cute pairing. Park Jung Min can't really act (imo) but he could surprise me idk. I will keep an open mind :').

I kind of liked The World They Lived in because it was a little different... but everything else these producers made just didn't work for me (I either dropped or suffered through their dramas).
No special draw for me cast-wise either.
Probably not one for me... Oh well. Can't watch them all!

I really did a double take on Jungmin in that picture.
And yay for Choi Wooshik and his first lead role! Proud of him. It's a long way from being Yoochun's Red Ranger in Rooftop Prince. :)

I totally agree...He is a natural born actor!
He's is one of the cutest actors ever!
He totally owned his character in FTLY where I totally fell in love with him.
I'm really really happy that he finally got his 1st leading role...and it was about time.
I'm even more thrilled that he got it with TvN who have been in the limelight lately for their amazing dramas.

Welcome back UEE! I've missed her in dramas since I watched Golden Rainbow. I wasn't a fan of hers until I watched her in that drama. I love the leads and am looking forward to this. On cable, no less, since they always break out of the mold with their shows it means there are surprises in store.
Btw didn't UEE swim competitively at one point? I recall reading something like that in her bio. I know she's very athletic.

I dropped Gold Rainbow mainly because of UEE. Her acting just didn't click for me there. I didn't mind her character in YAB though. Or maybe I'm just spoiled because her teen character was played by Kim Yoo Jung and there was a vast difference in acting skills that I just couldn't bear to stay with the show after KYJ's exit. :-D

It's good news all around in this site today! Yay for Choi Wooshik finally landing a lead role! This drama sounds really good especially now that we know the credits of the people behind the production. I've seen The Great Gye Choon-bin and found that it was a quirky and nice watch, and if we're going to have something similar to that then Im all in.
PLUS!!! The creator of FBND also did the webtoon the drama will be based on so now Im practically in heaven. I love FBND to bits, and if this is anywhere near half of it, then Im sold!

Choi Woo-Shik!! I've only seen him in Rooftop Prince and Pride & Prejuduce but he's adorable in both. I really would live him in a bubbly show like you mentioned - and I think he'd do it well.
I have no real thoughts in the other two as I'm not familiar with them. I only saw UEE in You're Beautiful and I couldn't stand her...but her character wasn't exactly meant to be liked.
So hopes are high for this.

I believe Choi Woo-shik has earned the lead role. He's had a long line of acting credits in supporting roles. I believe I've watched him in Ten, Ten2, Rooftop Prince, Pride and Prejudice, Fated to Love You, and the movie: Secretly Greatly.

Aww man, I hated both Flower Boy Ramyun Shop and Flower Boy Next Door, I think the former cause of a certain actor and the latter cause it was unbelievably boring. I don't know if I should watch this cause Woo-shik was so adorable in FTLY, and I've only ever seen UEE in YAB and even then I couldn't really hate her character. May give it a first two episodes trial.

I wish it was the other Park Jung-min - the one in YAAS - because I thought he was one of last year's break out stars and deserve to headline his own drama. Except he's apparently already starring in Valid love. Oh well...
I love Uee! I think she always has such adorable chemistry with her co-stars. I even liked her with JGS in You're Beautiful no matter how bitchy her character had been. The 'swimming goddess' also has my attention since I love the sport and it's rare for dramaland to feature it. Very excited! I hope it turns out as good as it sounds on paper...

OMG. I love them both and can't wait.
I am SO happy for Choi Woo-shik. He is really doing very well for himself!
And now him + UEE + tvN?! I'm so in. I loved Flower Boy Next Door so if the webtoon was as satisfying as that one, I'll be stoked. I also liked some of the works the writer and PD worked on in the past (no favorites though).

Choi Woo-shik has been quietly, and not so quietly stealing scenes from his first moments on screen.
In both seasons of Ten, he held his own against all the crazy going on.
In Pride and Prejudice, his comic timing is perfect. You can't stop watching him even when he is in the background.
His interactions with Choi Min-soo are some of the highlights of the show for me.
I hope he gets to continue to be quirky and funny since he is really good at that!

Yay! I feel like I've been waiting a very long time for CWS to be in a drama that I want to watch. And I love UEE. This one sounds fun, although I'm having trouble fitting the pieces together. How does wannabe-civil servant encounter swimmer-goddess? And twins, and random children? Oh well, there have been stranger drama set-ups. At least this one sounds interesting.

i love the actors but i can't picture them having chemistry, prob because choi wooshik is so extremely baby-faced. and i hope jungmin gets someone good, i love him too, he was always my fave double s (let's not speak of fucking hyunjoong).

yup, agree, it seems from the pictures CWS is too baby faced for UEE, as he is also younger than her. We will see how is this going to play out in the drama, perhaps beta lead guy vs alpha female lead.

I'm glad Choi Woo-sik is getting a lead. I wasn't impressed by him in Rooftop Prince but by the second season of Ten I was behind him all the way haha so funny. I also heard good thing about him in the movie Set Me Free so it seem his star is rising. I also have a good opinion of UEE even though I don't think I've actually watched her in anything, but from the comments here. Wasn't wild about Ramyun Shop though. I barely got through the second episode so it could go either way for me.

UEE and Choi Woo Shik I could see UEE being all fiesty and angry and Woo Shik is all scared of her and she ends up having this sad past and she's like don't try to comfort me blah blah well I see a possible shipping from this :D well at least for me lol
