Cast of Hyde, Jekyll, Me gathers for first script read

So I guess we’re back to calling it Hyde, Jekyll, Me? Maybe I’ll just call it Two Binnies Walk Into a Bar. Production is underway for SBS’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama known for some time as Jekyll and Me, the romantic comedy about a hero with a split personality and the woman who finds herself in an unusual love triangle with both of them. Hyun Bin (Secret Garden) and Han Ji-min (Rooftop Prince) are reuniting after co-starring in King’s Wrath (Fatal Encounter) earlier this year, and joined the rest of the cast for the drama’s inaugural script read.

The project is another webtoon adaptation (what drama isn’t these days) of a series called Dr. Jekyll Is Mr. Hyde, a romantic comedy about a man whose two personalities are opposite extremes — one is the nicest man in the world, while the other is the worst. I guess as long as he’s not a killer, it’s not so bad? I’m disturbed at myself for thinking there’s an upside in this situation, but they’re not exactly giving me a lot of upsides to work with here.

He’s a quirky chaebol shut-in who never leaves his home, which happens to be an amusement park. Han Ji-min plays the leader of a circus troupe at that amusement park that the hero wants to get rid of, and she fights to keep their act alive. Sung Joon (Discovery of Romance) plays a gentle hypnotherapist, and I find it really amusing that given the setup, he could just as easily be the hero’s therapist or the heroine’s circus troupe member. Maybe he’ll be both.

Han Sang-jin (Birth of a Beauty) will be yet another rival for Hyun Bin, and Lee Deok-hwa (Hotel King), Lee Seung-joon (Misaeng), and Lee Won-geun (Secret Door) costar. Directing is PD Jo Young-kwang of 49 Days and writing is Kim Ji-woon of Alice in Cheongdam-dong. It certainly has a great cast to boast of; let’s just hope the story manages the juggling act in a way that doesn’t make me hate one of the Hyun Bins.

Hyde, Jekyll, Me follows Pinocchio on Wednesdays and Thursdays in January. Ready or not, the year of the split personalities is headed our way…

Looking forward to Ji Min and Hyun Bin pairing. Although they starred in King's Wrath, they didn't have many scenes together. Acting in this drama Ji Min will have DOUBLE the time with Binnie!

I didn't know it was possible but Hyun Bin looks even younger than the last pictures I saw of him.

I'm cautiously optimistic for this one but I think it would be easy to fall into not-so-good territory.

Rumor has it that he cheated on her with a staff members. This was something I read somewhere. Dunno if it's true or not. The positive thing about the "Full House" girl is that she dodged the bullet by not marrying Lee Byung Hun (thank heavens they broke up the engagement)

Yes, one of my friends loves that older guy but I always see him as just much older and he's attractive too but too smooth and flirty in a way and finally he married someone even younger. FULL HOUSE girl got lucky in getting away I guess. lol....

On paper it's the best multiple personalities drama but there are also obvious flaws in the premise. I've been burned enough by the comeback dramas of SBS this year (Lee Je Hoon & Rain), that's why I will keep low expectations.

Lee Seung-joon is my favorite guy who gets to play a million parts a year. OK Maybe not a million. He was awesome in Nine.

I saw this story done best with Jerry Lewis - The Nutty Professor. I always thought SSH could pull off that role. Maybe not the serious tone THIS one has, but something where we get to see SSH be not-so-cool for a change.

I am looking forward to this one. I think it will be fun. I have enjoyed watching Hyun Bin in every drama he has been in. While not all dramas were great, they were always watchable till the end and he is a good actor. I guess he would be one actor that I will always expect good things from apart from my one true bias (LJS)!

Also I like the actress too. I kind of really liked her in Roof Top prince.

I enjoy split personality thing too. I think it could be a hilarious love triangle.

I am really looking forward to it.

Hyun Bin was the first korean actor that got me hooked on kdramas, since MNIKSS was my first kdrama. He certainly could play the part of a rich man perfectly, imo, and I'm (cautiously) sure he can deliver two opposite personalities spot on, depending on the script. I'm definitely going to look forward to this drama. And having Sung Joon as the second lead is like a delicious & tasty frosting on my binnie cake! Nom nom nom. And thank God this is a drama, cause letting him work as a hypnotherapist must be a kind of crime, right? How could you concentrate in therapy sessions with a therapist like HIM in front you!

Omg, I love Sung Joon's hair here. I prefer him styled like this to how he's been styled in I Need Romance 3 etc. recently! If I can't have his SUFBB hair back, I'll take him like this!

Actually getting tentatively excited for this one. At least it doesn't involve dating a patient and a love triangle between Hyun Bin and himself? Uhhhh, can't wait! I think this has the potential to be a very fun drama, it all just depends on how it's executed and if all these wacky story elements work together.

I LOVE Hyun Bin but the story sounds so cliche, unoriginal and predictable. I am not excited with the storyline. The man is very good actor and he can do better. I hope he challenges himself and take stronger roles.

My gosh Hyun Bin's aging backwards, how does he still look so young? Still so handsome dressed casually like that.
Haven't watched anything of his since Secret Garden and Late Autumn so excited about seeing the handsome actor again.
Love that Sung Joon's part of the cast, even though he's second lead guy again (or is it third here coz we have two Hyun Bins?)
Excited for it even though slightly scared as well. How will i handle two Hyun Bins when one's so hot already? *fan girl mode on*
