Running Man: Episode 219
by gummimochi
Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder in this episode, because only a group of guests who are willing to go above and beyond (and even literally bend over backwards) is what makes this episode that much more memorable. The Birth of a Beauty cast comes to play with our guests this week, and it’s up to one woman to figure out who’s on her side and who isn’t.
EPISODE 219. Broadcast on November 2, 2014.
On this rainy morning, an antique train pulls into the station carrying today’s guests—the cast of the recently premiered Birth of a Beauty: Jung Kyeo-woon, Wang Ji-hye, Han Sang-jin, Joo Sang-wook, and Han Ye-seul.
After the boys pick up their dropped jaws off of the ground, Kwang-soo transfers his jacket from his best bud Ji-hye’s shoulders to cover Ye-seul.
Today’s race is a battle between the White Knights vs. the Black Knights, where our two teams will engage in various missions. After each game, one member of the winning team may find out how many white knights are currently on their team, and also trade off a teammate.
At present, our cast and guests are split into two teams (Red vs. Blue) and have already chosen their identities via cards, so no one knows each other’s identities in the mix. All five White Knights must stand together by the day’s end in order to win, but even if one Black Knight member finds oneself on the podium, then it’s a victory for the Black Knights.
Current team lineup: Red (Ye-seul, Sang-jin, Jae-suk, Haha, and Kwang-soo) vs. Blue (Sang-wook, Ji-hye, Kyeo-woon, Suk-jin, Jong-kook, Gary, and Ji-hyo).
While the Blue Team throws suspicion at each other right away, the Red Team looks like they’re having a jolly ol’ time. Apparently it’s been seven years since Ye-seul has been on a variety program, and Jae-suk realizes that they’ve never worked together. Haha: “Then why are you speaking to her informally?”
Sang-jin informs his teammates that Ye-seul just speaks in banmal to everyone, something the guys find endearing. Her habit even extends to the PD: “PD-nim, have you eaten?” I personally find Ji-hye’s semi-gruff Masan satoori a bit more adorable, however.
In this first Musical Kiddie Train, only those whose butts are seated inside the cars may rest at the snack station. Jong-kook asks if the representative of the winning team can move over to the other team themselves if they’re a Black Knight. That question pings everyone else’s suspicion radars—could Jong-kook be a Black Knight?
The PD’s off-hand remark questioning Haha’s identity throws suspicion onto him, and it isn’t long before the Red Team starts pointing suspicious fingers at one another. Like how Kwang-soo’s choice to remain silent is uncharacteristic of him.
Before dance time, Jae-suk requests that Turbo’s “Twist King” isn’t on the playlist anymore, which ruffles Jong-kook’s feathers. But that soon goes forgotten when the music starts and Ji-hye tumbles on the mat and Haha dances with Ye-seul.
Kyeo-woon has a few hidden dance moves up his sleeve, and the whistle blows soon after Ye-seul’s dance. It’s a mad dash and struggle for a seat in the teensy car, and I love how no one is thinking of tackling SpartAce, who sit comfortably together in the other car.
Maybe the guys all wanted to be next to Ye-seul or they thought of sending the stronger competitors out of the way. In any case, SpartAce technically gets to move on, and asking for a do-over prompts Jae-suk to yell: “It’s less entertaining if you two are around!”
Over at the snack station, Jong-kook asks if Ji-hyo’s a White Knight, citing that she proclaimed that she has to help “our team.” Ji-hyo counters that that isn’t the case, but the music puts their argument on hold.
After another fierce round for a seat on the train, Ji-hye is still in shock when she softly asks Ji-hyo if this show is always this brutal. Oh honey, it is. She seems to have an honest friendship with Kwang-soo, as she tells her buddy that he’s ugly in his wet hair and lets him check himself with her mirror.
Sang-wook thinks that all five White Knights might be the guests, an idea Jong-kook refutes since he still thinks Ji-hyo’s one of them.
After a hilarious dance break to DJ DOC’s “Run To You,” all the guys are practically sprawled on the slippery mat when the whistle blows. After Kyeo-woon is forced out of the game by getting plopped into the car, the PD congratulates Suk-jin for having the advantage as the sole member left on his team.
Suk-jin: “You call this [4:1 ratio] an advantage?” I’ll say, especially after the Red Team guys made sure to create that “advantageous” situation. Ye-seul sends her teammates an aegyo-filled cheer in banmal. As for Ji-hye? “Take care of your health [Suk-jin]!”
After another round, Suk-jin is left to tackle Sang-jin and Kwang-soo on his own. Well, not before another dance break (4 Minute’s “Hot Issue”) led by none other than Ji-hyo. Curiously, Sang-jin sends Kwang-soo off alone, and it’s only after time is up does he mention that Suk-jin’s really strong.
But Sang-jin’s words and actions stir suspicion in the others: “The entire world knows that Suk-jin is weak!” Could he be a Black Knight?
In this final 1:1 battle, the first one to sit in the car wins the game. Ye-seul warns her teammate that failing here means that he really is a Black Knight, and like before Ji-hyo tells Suk-jin to think of his health.
It’s Sang-jin who gets their first, giving the Red team the win. As the White Queen, Ye-seul is told that there are three White members on her team including herself. Which means she’s got two Black Knights hiding in her presence.
So Ye-seul asks who was initially confused by their card, though the others are distracted by her natural high-pitched voice. Jong-kook: “You’d be a perfect fit for my songs!” She trades her teammate Haha for Jong-kook.
It’s a series of 1:1 games for their second mission, and the losing team will get hit with a blast of air. When Jae-suk teases Ji-hye about her past, Kwang-soo fans the flame by adding how she’ll accept anyone who confesses their feelings for her in the wintertime.
But two can play at this game ’cause she reminds Kwang-soo that’s she’s got dirt on him, too. He immediately back down, stammering in response. Hahaha.
Jae-suk and Kyeo-woon face off in a butt wrestling match, where the first player to knock off their opponent using their butt, grab the radish and lift if over their head wins the round. It’s an all-kill tournament, so last team standing wins the game.
I love how the PD cracks up off-screen before the match actually begins, but when it does, both men collide so hard that they’re both propelled forward. HA.
Jae-suk wins the round, so he calls out Ji-hye. He juts out his butt first, but she falls backwards a half-second later and takes Jae-suk down with her, allowing her to scoop up the radish instead. That’s hilarious.
As per her team’s advice, Ji-hye challenges Jong-kook and tries to butter him up by saying she’s a fan of his. She asks if she can only use her butt, and Gary makes a hand gesture, asking if she plans on poking his rear with that instead.
But this time, Jong-kook takes her down in seconds, much to her surprise. Heh, with Ye-seul’s presence here today, the use of the Fantasy Couple OST has never felt more appropriate.
One blunt force literally knocks Sang-wook off of his feet, and that has the others wondering whether or not Jong-kook is working extra hard because he’s a White Knight trying to impress his queen. Jong-kook verbally admits that he is a White Knight, but who knows for sure.
Before the following game begins, Jae-suk suggests that Kwang-soo and Ji-hye engage in an impromptu game of Dangyunhaji (where one must answer “Of course,” to their opponent’s questions or statements, no matter how absurd. If one doesn’t, they lose).
Kwang-soo starts off strong by asking if she’s dated any celebrities before, a question she turns right back at him. It’s pretty great how Jong-kook yells out criticism from the sidelines, like how you’re supposed to start off easy and then build up to the tricky questions.
So Kwang-soo keeps going, asking whether or not she considered her costars as a man, not as colleagues before. Ji-hye in turn, rephrases the question: Has he ever started as “oppa” to a costar that eventually turned into “honey”?
Kwang-soo starts sweatin’ in protest: “I haven’t had a lot of younger costars who called me ‘oppa’!” And that answer basically means Kwang-soo throws in the towel.
With that, they move onto the actual game, where Kwang-soo has to guess if the number of kernels in Ji-hye’s hand in either odd or even. He guesses odd, and when Ji-hye gives him an opportunity to change his mind claiming that she really wants him to win, he does.
And then Ji-hye shows her hand: 3 kernels. Pfft, the Betrayal Icon just got betrayed. Hehehe.
Kwang-soo and Haha enter the ring for the next round: a hand-slapping game. Haha slaps his hand down on the table to show off his strength… then retracts it from the pain. As soon as the whistle blows, Kwang-soo retracts his hand, afraid.
When Kwang-soo tries to move his hand as fast as possible, Haha decides to wait until he tires himself out. Unfortunately for Haha, he misses.
But the Blue Team has another shot when Sang-wook is up next and chooses to attack. Kwang-soo decides to use the same “speedy hand” approach, but he quickly grows weary, to Sang-wook’s favor. Slap.
What’s hilarious is that Sang-wook tests out Kwang-soo’s approach with Jae-suk; he initially starts off slow, then gradually speeds up. But despite his efforts, Jae-suk traps him anyway.
Therefore the Red Team wins it again, and Ye-seul steps forward for her clue… only to hear the same words from the previous round. There are still three White Knights vs. two Black Knights on her team. Ah, did she exchange one Black Knight for another then?
In any case, she turns to her teammate and asks who isn’t on her side, which is met with professions of loyalty. Sang-jin says he’s not that great at games, and that’s reason enough for Ye-seul to switch him out with Haha.
In the car, Ye-seul wonders which side Ji-hyo must be on, confused. The guys reply that there’s a great possibility she could be a Black Knight. Meanwhile in the other car, Sang-wook tells his teammates that they can trade him away. Hmm.
Everyone arrives at an outdoor market, where they see the establishments stamped with R stickers. A group of kind ajummas offer them food in gratitude for traveling so far, and aww, Kwang-soo hands a hot pack to one of the ladies in return.
For this third mission, the winning team may trade two teammates. Sang-wook says it’s fine since everyone on the Blue Team is a Black Knight. Sang-jin proclaims that he really is a White Knight, and Haha encourages him not to lie when the cameras aren’t rolling. Ha, the captions tell us that Sang-jin had been chatting with Ye-seul during their break.
So for this game, one team must hide among the various restaurants and strike poses in order that the other team won’t be able to emulate. Kwang-soo sits undecided whereas Ye-seul smiles, saying that she has something up her sleeve.
The Blue Team is on a time-constraint at the start, and Gary stumbles upon Haha, who has a finger up his nose, a sock in his mouth, and his legs crossed. Lol. But that’s nowhere near as difficult as what Ji-hye has to emulate: a break-dance position. She hands it off to Suk-jin.
Sang-wook bursts laughing when he sees his costar sprawled on the floor: “Think of your image!” But Ye-seul is determined to do whatever it takes to win, even if that means twisting her arms to look like pretzel.
When time’s up, the Blue Team must strike the poses they saw. It’s cute how Kyeo-woon rolls off-balance, and Suk-jin’s back cracks when he throws his legs over his head. Sang-wook makes this long argument about why a guy can’t imitate Ye-seul’s pose, so Ji-hye steps in.
Unfortunately both Ji-hyo and Suk-jin are wrong, and now it’s the Blue Team’s turn to think of some unique poses. Remember that b-boy move Jong-kook struck earlier? Gary does him one better and Kwang-soo gapes in awe.
While Ye-seul studies Ji-hye, Jae-suk feels confident about Sang-wook’s three-fingered plank position. By the time the teams reconvene, the guys strike the other twisty poses with ease, but Ye-seul initially has trouble striking Ji-hye’s twisty yoga-like pose.
They even strike Gary’s b-boy pose, but then the Red Team realizes that none of them went to check on Kyeo-woon. Whoops. Aww, he looked so weirdly adorable, too.
Ji-hyo bursts into laughter when she discovers Ye-seul wearing a cross-eyed expression. Ha, there’s really nothing this girl won’t do if it means winning. Ji-hyo hands the pose off to Gary. Once they’re alone, Gary whispers that he’s a White Knight, and he’ll make sure to lose. Oho.
A little later, Gary does strike a slightly different pose than Ye-seul’s, though the cross-eyed bit leaves everyone in shock. He was the only one who messed up, so could he have been telling the truth?
Then it’s the Red Team’s turn again to emulate the Blue Team’s poses, and holy crap—Ji-hye’s pose looks like something that came straight out of a horror film. Then there’s Sang-jin, who actually has a toe in his mouth.
But there’s more because Kwang-soo finds Kyeo-woon with an upgraded version of his original twisty-legged-face-grabbing position. When time is up, Ji-hye crumbles over the horrific move she pulled and cries, “I play an announcer on the show!”
So it turns out that Sang-jin wasn’t the only one with a toe in his mouth—Suk-jin did, too. Too bad Jae-suk is too stiff, but a little extra effort enables him to get his foot in his mouth. And with Haha imitating Sang-jin’s final toe-in-mouth touch, the Red Team wins it.
Ye-seul sneaks in a whispered conversation with Ji-hyo for tips while the staffs sets up. Then it’s time for Ye-seul to find out how many of her White Knights are on her team: two. Aha, so did she made the wrong choice by sending Sang-jin away?
We rewind a bit to hear Ye-seul’s deductions prior to listening to her latest hint: her first switch yielded nothing, which means she switched out a teammate of the same color. But then bringing Haha back onto the team reduced the number of White Knights.
So Ye-seul kicks both Jong-kook and Haha off of her team. But Kwang-soo and Jae-suk aren’t off the chopping block either because one of them is a Black Knight. She looks to Kyeo-woon for an answer, and he argues that he lost all the games, therefore a White Knight. Sang-wook: “That’s because you’re awful at them!”
In that same vein, Sang-wook argues that he’s awesome at the games in this show—why, she can see his past appearances. Ye-seul thinks that Ji-hyo might be a White Knight for providing her with some tips earlier, but honey, that’s just naive thinking there.
Ji-hyo states that there’s “something” she did to help the White Knights, but that’s also when Gary allegedly outs himself, too. And Ye-seul brings the Monday Couple over to her team.
In the car, the Blue Team can only hope that there’s a Black Knight within the Red Team, and they’re pretty sure that it must be Kwang-soo. Sang-wook volunteers himself again, but told to stay out of it.
Once the Red Team arrives at the final mission station, they stand at their respective podiums and look nervously at the balloons filled with flour hanging above them. When Kwang-soo continues to insist on his innocence, Ye-seul tells him, “If you behaved as usual, you wouldn’t have become the Boy Who Cried Wolf.”
The Red Team isn’t easily persuaded when the Blue Team offers suggestions like how the setup now looks fine, or that Ji-hye could be a White Knight. Ye-seul is given one last chance to trade one more member, and even if one Black Knight is among them, the flour-filled balloons will burst.
Sang-wook asks what happens to the Black Knight member(s) who ends up in the White Knight mix, to which he gets the matter-of-fact answer: “They’ll get flour on them, of course.”
Interesting—Ye-seul chooses to oust Jae-suk, to everyone’s surprise. At least she figured out that moving Haha and Jong-kook manipulated the numbers, which means they’re both Black Knights. Now who to move?
Sang-jin did sound pretty desperate and frustrated whereas Sang-wook stated that he was losing on purpose. Ye-seul brings Sang-jin back on her roster.
Now’s the moment of truth, and it turns out that, yes, Gary was telling the truth—he’s a White Knight. Whoa, Ji-hyo is also a White Knight member, too. What about Kwang-soo, then?
What—he’s a White Knight, too. And now it’s down to Sang-jin… who’s also a White Knight. So the White Knights grab the win, and in reference to her sudden departure years ago, Ye-seul makes one last promise: “I won’t run away again.”

Loved this episode. Except for JKW, all the other guests were fun to watch especially the two ladies. I watched this after watching BoaB so it was doubly awesome. I've always loved Ye-seul, and I can't hate Wang Ji-hye's character in the show now that I've seen her here. She seems more like her Ice Cream character in PTB. (BTW, the one who played Sa Geum-ran was one of Ice Cream's friends in PTB, right?
^@Elainestale - I googled after watching the bomb dropped by Ji-hye and my guess was Lee Yoobi. ;)

JKW isn't always the most talkative, but when he's in his element, he can be a riot. For instance, on the Merry House show, he's killing it. Same when he appeared on Strong Heart for "Sign" and "Dr. Champ". But most of the time though, he strikes me as the quiet type.
At least he tried his best with the games, although it's obvious that they are not his strength :D :D . Wang Ji hye totally stole the show, she's one funny lady.

Wang Ji Hye Stole The Show, she was more better than Han Ye Sul, maybe because Kwang Soo help her.
She's always the bitch in all her dramas ( i hate her in Personal Taste ), but she's really a nice girl, i love her now, and she's great at variety

There was some talk of Lee Sung Kyung having something going on with Jo In Sung. Rumors came out that Jo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin were allegedly more than friends, because of a picture of him supposedly grabbing onto her hand during a dinner together with the rest of the cast. However, when you look closely, he was actually holding Sung Kyung's hand, not Hyo Jin's. So yeah. xD
Plus I think it's Lee Yu Bi too, they were pretty cute together. :P

I think its Yoo Bi too. Kwang Soo & Yoo Bi had filmed CFs for SK Energy together until the November 2013. So I doubt they would be working together if they did break up in bad terms.
Since last year, subtle hints that Kwang Soo is (or was) in a relationship were dropped by the rest of the members. Episode 153 Ha Ha asked whether Kwang Soo has dated a celebrity before, while in Episode 165 Yoo Jae Suk was implying there is a reason why Kwang Soo moved out of his parents’ house and live ‘alone’. Then in Episode 217 Kwang Soo uncharacteristically correctly answer a question about a woman’s hobby that men like. Finally in this episode his best friend asked that question.

Nah,it's lee sung kyung. There's nothing going on between Jo in sung and her, Jo In Sung just someone close with his co-star. But from what I see and being told by my friends from Thailand, when team IOIL went to Thailand for holiday, Lee Sung Kyung and Kwang Soo spent times mostly together. She even let Kwang Soo put his jacket on her at the beach. They did lots of activity together, well of course there are crews, and their co-stars as well, but Lee Sung Kyung always beside kwang soo, mostly all the time during the holidays. I don't know whether they are good friends or not,but something definitely going on.

If we take into consideration of the question, “Have you dated a celebrity before?” asked by Ha Ha in 2013 and Wang Ji Hye in 2014, then Lee Sung Kyung is out of the candidate list.
Secondly, if we consider Kwang Soo reply that the implied celebrity had acted as his dongsaeng, only Yoo Bi’s Kang Choco character has that role. Lee Sung Kyung acted as Kwang Soo’s love interest from the start.
Kwang Soo is also known to spend time together with female actresses he worked with. Lee Jung Jin even thought Kwang Soo was dating Lee Min Jung when they were working on Wonderful Radio because the two of them were spending the time together.

Hope they continue to provide hilarious entertainment in future episodes as well :) Speaking of future episodes, I know Jung Yong Hwa is titled the Idol Ace and the last member of Running Man. I LOVED this episode and all the guests, even JKW who just smiled the whole time.
I love that the first sign of Joo Sang-wook was his laugh! Everyone else got an introduction, but with him you just hear his laugh approaching ahaha. He's one of my favorite guests, and he had some characteristic, good moments sprinkled in...
BUT my favorites this hour were definitely the ladies, who were both super awesome in their own ways. I admit my favorite part of the episode were the moments between Kwang-soo and Wang Ji-hye! That girl is awesome!
This is a case where the promotion actually worked because I'm looking forward to watching their drama even more now!

Loved this episode!! The guests were fantastic, and I loved how willing they were to give 200% for the posing game. The dynamic between Kwang-soo and Ji-hye was also hilarious (as some have said above, it's too bad she always ends up in poorly written catty second lead roles). Both the ladies had such wonderful 4-D personalities. I also loved the funny SpartAce moment in the first game, where they ended up in the train together and nobody would go near them. I mean, the other members can pretend it was strategy to get them out early, but I think Jae-suk pretty much accidentally told the truth: "It's not a competition with the two of you in it! D:" SpartAce is just too good, haha.

This was just an OK episode for me, they spend so much time in the Market Memory Mission, which is boring after the 1st round.
The production team did not spend much time in thinking out this episode, it relied too much on the members and guests.
But i enjoy lively guests, and interact with the members, which make Running Man a fun show.
Kwang Soo and Ji Hye were adorable friends
Joo Sang Wook, as always, is talkative (haha)
P.S. PDNim, it's been a long time since Jung Hwa made an appearance, i like him being super active and aggressive and will go head on with the members.

I understand why Ye Seul chose Sang Jin back as white knight, it's OBVIOUS that he's white when she swapped him with Ha Ha and us the viewers also SAW AND KNOW it as well as her, but why they had to made it confused by showing that she had to choose between Sang Jin and Sang Wook? And I was like "You and I know it's Sang Jin for sure, why bother choose?"
The main problem here is why she easily trusted Gary and Ji Hyo when they said they're white knight? Some viewers might think that they were actually black knight who wanted to win by got in Ye Seul team. From the clue so far it was obvious that Sang Jin and either Kwang Soo or Jae Suk were white knight, Jong Kook and Ha Ha were the black knight. She didn't even consider Ji Hye, Suk Jin or Gyu Woon and just accepted Gary and Ji Hyo easily. I think that there might be some explanatory scene but the show ended without one. Does anyone think it's a bit scripted or is it just me?
But it's still funny afterall. Ji Hye and Kwang Soo part were hilarious and I'm really curious about the girl he worked with plus he dated. Does anyone have thoughts about it?
And this episode reminded me of X-man episode, especially when white knight team stood under the balloon where Jae Suk was actually the black knigth (just like Jae Suk was actually the X-man).

And just like the X-Man episode, everyone in the team was swapped except for Kwang Soo.

Kwang Soo is just too easy to read, especially for female guests. He's just that shy.

Han Ye Seul did a great job of reading the people she was dealing with, took a chance on her judgment, and won.
I agree that there was some chatter going on between Ye Seul and Ji Hyo off-microphone, and I would LOVE to see a BTS video of how Ji Hyo interacts as chaperone with the female guests on Running Man. In this case, there were definitely consversations going on that affected how Ye Seul called the exchanges, but, that's part of the game. You can't show them all.

Exactly it was so obvious that Sangjin was a white knight. Unless YeSeul is really slow, that "having a hard time to pick between Sangjin and Sangwook" is an act for unnecessary suspense.
I was really hoping that gary/jihyo was a black knight to sabotage team white knight's victory though hahaha it would be a great plot twist.
Anyone know of any episode where there is a great plot twist in the end like an opposing team member sabotages another team to prevent them from getting the victory?

Finally the return of framer Lee Kwang-Soo. Those who remember the old RM episodes would surely know. Last time Kim Jong-Kook, Ha Dong-Hoon and Song Ji-Hyo all ever became victims of his framing skills. He and Wang Ji-Hye must be very close friend indeed.
Another reminiscence of old RM episodes is when members could dance freely (recently ep. 215 also has got a free dance segment). Good thing that members could enjoy the show rather than being tortured by mud, cold water or pressure mat.
Just a small observation: Han Ye-Seul does not always speak informally. When Song Ji-Hyo put back her cap on her head, she spontaneously thanked her in formal manner.

Good show, and a reminder to me of how I got hooked on Running Man. Aside from the glimpses into a culture patently different from American culture, it reminds me of the classic American TV shows and movies I enjoyed as a child. Korean manners are so much like the formalized American manners expressed in those old shows.
On the one hand, you can understand, as I believe Javabeans once expressed, how stifling and oppressive they can be--Han Ye Seul knows that better than anyone. On the other hand, many of these Running Man games only work if the players are capable of blushing, which Americans have trained out of them by high school. And the same can be said of the discussion about who is having relations with whom off camera.

Han Ye Seul's atypical use of ban mal is an interesting revelation. Revealing, I suppose, like her "scandal," how hard a Korean-American has to work to fit into Korean society.
It works both ways, of course, as immigrants to the United States have always testified. The Korean-Americans who've made it in Korea have to have learned their ancestral language as a child, have had to learn Korean cultures and manners to make use of that language, all in addition to the gruelling work needed to make it in Kpop.
In contrast, my American-born father spoke Czech to his immigrant parents and uncles, but never taught a word of it to his children. That was the price of assmilation in those days. My mother never learned any German from her immigrant mother, and my father--after my mother had been married to him for two years and was pregnant!--had to explain to his mother-in-law that, in America, she could not take the strap to adult daughters who argued with her.

These are my favorite parts:
When Ji hyo was over at the snack tent - "My butt's all wet"! So cute. But really this is 2nd recent show they shot outside in the rain...must be very unpleasant.
When Jong kook and Ji hyo were arguing about who was a black night and the music starts - in a nano second they both start dancing. So funny!
When the guys did the "Run To You" dance. Awesome! I wish they showed more of it. This is why I wish they had a webpage to show extra footage or out takes.
Ha ha's and Gary's "arm and hands" dance
Dumb question, but what does: xdddddd mean?!

Quite a good episode with good guests.
No one daring to bother SpartAce on the train was super hilarious. Dance time is always welcome to watch.
The minigames part was totally forgettable except for the Dangyunhaji part. The PDs need to come out with better games. Lucky for national MC YJS who saved the show with his unerring instincts and made them play the impromptu Dangyunhaji, otherwise it would be totally boring.
It dragged a bit at the market. It would have been better if the editing was snappier there. It got monotonous after a while. It's always the same problem whenever they play games at this type of market setting where the members scatter to do missions then gather for a reveal.
It's regretful there are so many guests because I would like to see more of them as they seem very interesting and entertaining!
Wang Ji Hye reminds me very much of Park YeJin. She looks like she can kick everyone's ass easily. The other guest Han Yeseul is pretty good, she had fun with the games, put in effort and enjoyed herself but once on the show is enough. Wang Ji Hye should come again many times thou.
Joo Sangwook has always been good value for entertainment, he's always been one of my favorite guests on RM as he's so shameless and thickskinned. Totally love that. He's wasted in this episode, there are too many people fighting for screentime. I would like to see more of his antics, hope we don't have to wait another year before he comes on again.

I agree. When they are promoting KDramas do they have to have the whole cast on? I think just 2 or 3 guests would be better so that they can shine. When Rain was on with all his cast mates - some just aren't made for variety. Great actors but not so great at ad libbing or being spontaneous.
Still love Running Man though!

Agree with the Sang wook comment. He is hilarious. He did get a better screen time here than the episode where he had to chase hens. He was almost invisible there. Here he made great one liners. One of my most favourite episodes was when he and Jin hee and 2 more dashing actors whose names i cant remember were guests with IU and they had played food bingo. He and the guys were super witty and silly.

You guys. I have a question. Why are people so interested in who Kwang Soo dated? It's all in the past! Besides, it's not even our business. I understand that you guys are curious... But even Kwang Soo is human and need his private space. Would you like it if everyone kept asking and talking about who YOU were dating? I mean I respect that you're curious and all.... But yeah

This was a fun ep - an interesting concept, fun games and good guests.
HYS seems to have a fun personality - always thought she was one of the prettiest K-actresses, but not quite as pretty as Kim Tae-hee (they both starred in a mediocre gumiho drama and it was difficult to focus on HYS when KTH was in the same scene).
But Wang Ji-hye perked my interest as the ep went on.
Had no idea who she was and while pretty enough, not someone one would pay particular attention to in that regard, but she really started to kill it.
WJH really reminded me of "Sweet & Savage Yejin" from FO.
Has that same outward sweetness and innocence (but not in that fake, cloying way), as well as a provincial accent and nasally way of talking, but an inner savagery that gradually has to be brought out.
A PD should cast WJH as a regular member of a variety show like FO, RM, etc.
Love how the RM PDs brought back the butt-wrestling game from X-Man and YJS, of course, having to keep w/ the X-Man connection and bring forth an impromptu game of Dangyunhaji.
Could have been a lot more fun but poor Kwangsoo gave up way too easily.

Fun and hilarious! I think actors and veteran MCs tend to be more vocal and loose as guests. Is it just me?
I keep remembering Jong Kook and his evil and chilling reveal to the actress last week. It was kinda hot. Haha. I have never seen him that way other than a loud muscular strategist. He has gained a new fan!
Kwang Soo here was mysterious and funny in that battle of wits. So lovely when the editors included the part when he gave the ahjumma that warm pack. That act warmed my heart.

loved this episode. it's amazing what good guests can do in a relatively boring setup. i'm always surprised at the actresses who guest on RM even though they're portrayed to be more elegant and conservative in comparison to idols i think they're way more funny and open.
ji hye and ye seul were awesome. ji hye could be variety gold i hope she gets a lot of love because of this. she's definitely on my radar now. ye seul is the same and i hope despite her scandal people will warm up to her, she seems like a good person.
anyways, awesome episode.

While I agree that Wang Ji Hye was entertaining, I was really offended when she told Kwang-Soo that he's so ugly. You call that an 'honest friendship'? Just seems hurtful to me.
Rain dancing was very funny. Running Man stars are such pros at keeping the guest stars engaged and making the competitions fun, even in terrible weather.

Great episode, although the market segment went on for too long. Everything before it was top notch!
I didn't like however how much the guys were all pandering to Han Yeseul. I get it that she's known as a beauty or whatever, but come on - don't exaggerate!

no question of Han Ye-seul's ability to enchant - i love her cheeriness - her openness - her propensity for taking informally (being american, of course)
i found Wang Ji Hye a bit surreal - but her revelation re Kwang Soo was amusing - and her trickery of him too
i don't think the contests were the best - and i hate the poses concept - it was only Leslie's presence that kept me watching

I was really hoping that before the show ended, they would have brought Wang Ji Hye back along with other wanted guests like Yoon Eun Hye but that's for another time. She's very sweet and adorable and knows how to blend in well with the cast. Her chemistry with the traitors club was gold. Instead of cheering for Big Nose and trying to act all cute, she told him to watch out for his health and she even brought out Haha's playboy character which we haven't seen for a long time. Same with Kwang Soo's framing skills. Also, Kwang Soo's interaction with her was as sweet as it was hilarious. I just felt bad because there were so many guests and none of them got the attention or time to shine. Ji Hye somehow shined on her own. And yeah, most would say it's because of Kwang Soo but come on. Did you see her mad skills on Grasshopper? And her monstrous yoga poses at the end? She is one awesome lady. I just wished she would have gone on the show once more. They focused way too much on Han Ye Seul and sure, she was pretty but kind of bland. All she was was cute and had the boys fawn over her. I'm not a big fan of girls like that. Sorry not sorry.

Kwang Soo and Wang Ji Hye's interactions were so adorable. I hope they invite her back onto the show. She has a fun and exciting personality that reminds me a little bit of sweet and savage Yejin from Family Outing. I want to see more of Ji Hye's and Kwang Soo's relationship. She seems really cool and laid back. I kind of ship them together. Kwang Soo genuinely looks like he really enjoyed himself this episode. Also, Wang Ji Hye was awesome in her episode in Samoa for Law of the Jungle. Hope to see more from her.
