Pride and Prejudice and posters
by javabeans
Are we drowning in new dramas or what? After a rather sparse month or two, things are picking up pretty quickly with new shows coming all at once (see: Cantabile Tomorrow, Misaeng, Liar Game, Modern Farmer), and included in this crop is MBC’s upcoming Pride and Prejudice, the prosecutor drama that premieres next week.
Official posters are out, showing our prosecutor team being… well, not quite aces, I suppose, since they’ll be an assortment of “loser prosecutors.” That sounds harsh, but in this case the loser mention is less of a personality thing (where the word “loser” suggests a slacker deficient in social skills) and more of a literal thing: This team will fight the privileged bad guys who exploit the system and the law, and will stand up for the powerless. It actually sounds like skill-wise they may be just fine; it’s just that they’re fighting the hard uphill battles.
I’m glad to see Baek Jin-hee garnering more recognition and winning lead roles; she’s still pretty young (24), but you can count on her to deliver a layered performance. Choi Jin-hyuk plays the brilliant mind who passed the bar out of high school, and it looks like they’ll have a fun, bickery type of romance with him being the smirky playboy and her being the sassy lady with the witty rejoinders. Their teammates are played by Choi Min-soo, Lee Tae-hwan, and Sohn Chang-min—a solid lineup and an interesting ensemble.
Coming from the director of Time Between Dog and Wolf and the writer of School 2013, Pride and Prejudice will premiere on Monday, October 27.

Love the posters. :))))
Still can't connect them to the (slightly) lighter feel of the teasers though.
(And hey, is that DragonBoy up there? The eunuch in RooftopPrince?)

Baek Jin Hee! Hopefully this drama does justice to her acting skills. The posters and teaser stills look good weeee! Awwww is that cutie patootie Lee Tae Hwan? Can't wait for this drama, fingers crossed that the storyline would turn out to be great and.... Smooth lol.
Ps: Finally a season of good dramas. The previous season was so hyped up but the bitter truth was, meh. Just meh. Can we have The Liar Game recap please? It has been only one subbed episode for now but I'm struck for good!

Apparently it is written into the law of dramas that each and every elite team of four to six characters will consist of three to five males and one youngish female.

Seems like it. The female to male ratio caught my attention as well.
My next thought was well at least the overused cliché of the 2nd lead female obsessively pining after the male lead because she's not familiar with the concept that sometimes He's Just Not That Into You is apparently absent here...Whoopee!

Maybe this one will be good. The current crop of Mon-Tues, Wed-Thurs dramas are pretty meh across the board. One needs to wait till the weekend for a decent drama.
Nodame isn't hitting the right notes - Joo Won is miscast in the role.
Secret Door - not living up to its billing.
Night Watchman - limping to the end, and widely ignored.
No point even talking about the Wednesday-Thursday block - Zero across the board.

This is actually shaping up to be both not what I expected it to be and, ultimately, something I want to watch even more. I definitely really like Baek Jin-hee and, well, Choi Jin-hyuk, I think I'm just waiting for him to pick the right role so hopefully this is it. Liking the ensemble. Lee Tae-hwan is turning out to be quite the cutie!

I love Baek Jin Hee, but how come her pose in all the posters are one and the same? The two veterans are quite great in their poses. More than anything, i will watch Pride and Prejudice because of these bad ass guys - Choi Min-Soo and Son Chang-min

I will give this a try...and I'm hoping it's not as serious-looking as these posters make it out to be --although I know not to take as much stock into posters/teasers until actually watching it first.
I'm like the person who posted the comment above mine...I'll be watching for Choi Min-soo and Sohn Chang-min. Which, BTW: wow, a haircut really does wonders--with that suit/style, SCM looks younger (and kinda hot)! The same cannot be said for CMS's weird looking ahjussi hair and frumpy-looking style though.
It's actually funny because I envisioned them the other way around...

I adore Baek Jin Hee since Law of the City, so I'm definitely going to give this a try.
I expected Choi Jin-hyuk's last work before military service to be Emergency Couple, but here we are, with two more dramas under his belt xD He is truly doing the most of the time he has left.

Choi Jin-hyuk's uneven haircut is slowly driving me nuts. Must look away.
Feels like a ton of new dramas came rushing in. Not too attracted this one. Getting behind on my current shows while I want to watch new ones. OTL

Suprisingly this´s been good (2 eps so far), much better then the medical drama Jin-hyuk was before, with much the same romantical story-line with his ex.

Holy smokes, this is a favorite right out of the box. Fast-moving story with multiple lines and relationships easily set up right away; dialogue that's quick, allusive, witty; charismatic acting that seems effortless. I'm in love, in love I tell you.
I hope you all love this as much as I already do, because this is really fun, and going to be even more fun with company!

Is anyone planning to do a consolidated review (or even a weecap :)) of this amazing drama? Would love to hear general thoughts on this drama from our resident drama experts! Although I know you guys are all super busy...but one can wish :)
So far both the writing and acting have kept me hooked. Direction has been on point as well. I love it when directors / actors pay attention to subtle human actions that are often disregarded in other popular dramas. The hero is not your typical "genius"; the guy is smart but is actually shown to work hard as well - which is shocking in dramaland, and somewhat of a reversal of your typical kdrama genius hero archetype. The heroine is prone to candy-like behavior at times but overall is scores above most kdrama heroines in that she is basically smart but learning her way through her new job by making a few fumbles. I love the H and h's professional interaction and how they don't let their personal feelings (which, wow...so much baggage!) get in the way of getting stuff done. And let's not even get into the deliciously complex and amusing character played winningly by Choi Min Soo.
Overall, thus far (key words) - great cast, smart acting, writing and directing, and amazing chemistry between characters.
