Dr. Frost makes the jump from animation to live action

Well, well, doesn’t Song Chang-eui quite rock the platinum blond look. His upcoming OCN drama Dr. Frost has released a teaser, which gives us a brief (fleeting, really) glimpse of him playing the lead character in the webtoon adaptation about a genius psychologist and professor, the titular Dr. Frost.
The drama is procedural that mixes psychological analysis with criminal investigation, with Song’s lead character helping out in solving various cases. The character has trouble empathizing with others because of a brain injury that enhanced his reasoning skills but handicapped him on the feelings front, which sounds like a rough trade-off to me. (We want our drama heroes cold in a meltable way, not closed off to the possibility through science!)
In any case, our hero possesses powers of psychoanalysis so keen that he can read a criminal’s feelings in under a second (though, presumably, he couldn’t quite feel those feelings himself). For instance, it’s understood that there are seven universal facial expressions, and the hero is able to catch even the quickest flicker of any of them as they display on a criminal’s face.
The teaser is pretty short and does little to tell us anything about the show itself, but it’s a nifty way to incorporate the drama’s webtoon origins. We start out seeing the animated frame, then pull out to reveal that it’s our drama’s hero watching them on a screen. Dr. Frost watching Dr. Frost… Let’s just hope they don’t get caught in some kind of time-space loop; someone’s got a drama to shoot!
Dr. Frost will follow OCN’s currently airing crime thriller Reset, premiering in mid-November.

Yup. There was a scanlation group, but they were asked to take it down by Naver. But the official English version is supposed to be released on LINE Webtoon sometime by the end of this year.

I did too but the ones I found were not completed to my understanding. There were urgent comments for updates but I just looked at the end of the last chapter so maybe they were asking for updates for a book two or something. Anyway I'm reading it now. THIS IS SO FUN!! As a bibliophile I felt I was breaking a sort of personal moral code by reading a "picture book" (idk I've always had this weird thing with comics/manga/manhwa, though it didn't bother me for other people so not to sound snobbish but I just didn't like it). Anyway all these adaptions have made me curious and now that I'm reading one I like I mos def will want to try more.

I totally felt the same way before, but some really amazing mangas and manhwas have totally changed the way I see comics. Maybe Dr. Frost will do the same for you.

I read the first 40 or so chapters last year and really enjoyed it. I'm wondering on how it would do as a drama, though. I'm assuming this will be an episodic drama series.

I was so intrigued by this description that I looked for the manhwa, and I've just been reading chapter after chapter. It's definitely piqued my interest in this drama. And it helps that Song Chang Eui totally looks the part.

Loved him in that drama from ages ago that he played a traumatized guy that had panick attacks in crowded places then got married to a vietnamese woman......he's cute too ;)

Yay another Golden Bride fan! I recently finished all 64 episodes and loved it! I watched it for Kim Hee Chul but came out being a fan of Song Chang Eui who I wasnt impressed with with his recent drama pickings.
But Dr Frost looks awesome! He is definitely rocking the hair and I hope he rocks the drama as well. Can't wait!

From what I've read of the manhwa, his principle is that he doesn't empathise or make an emotional connection, but he has done a lot of research on non-verbal and behavioural cues and he uses those to analyse people in a very scientific kind of way.

I love Song Chang-eui!! probably coz he played one of my favourite kdrama characters in Life is Beautiful. I hope he gets more projects! Its quite shocking seeing him with a blond hair but he carries it so well. Looking forward to this drama.

Hey! Isn't that similar to the english drama Lie To Me? It also had a genius doctor who could read the minute facial expressions. I loved that show! So I'll definitely be checking out this one!

i really love Dr Frost! too bad english trans arent continued. I wanna see Pavlov too! But i think this will have a different feel from the webtoon. Song Chang Eui has this feeling of seriousness and baek nam bong in the series has this feeling of emptiness sometimes. hahaha

I first saw the manhwa last year and from then on, I was hooked to this series.
Basically what makes Dr Frost an intriguing character is because he has no superpowers but just a very keen sense of observation that allows him to see through the psychology of people. Even though he has no emotions, the very little actions of people give away their states of mind and that's actually really scientific!
And the various characters of this manhwa share a very interesting dynamic too =)
Happy that there's a drama adaptation for this wonderful series :D
