Chun Jung-myung offered lead in tvN rom-com Heart to Heart
by girlfriday
Coffee Prince’s PD Lee Yoon-jung is gearing up for a January premiere for her first drama over at cable network tvN, a romantic comedy called Heart to Heart. The offer is currently out to Choi Kang-hee (Level 7 Civil Servant) to headline, and now Chun Jung-myung is being courted to be her leading man. He’s only considering for now, but if he signs on to a winter drama, he would have to hop straight from the set of his current series (OCN thriller Reset) right to his next one.
Heart to Heart is a “healing drama” set in a mental ward of a hospital. Seriously, what is with all the psychiatrists and psychological disorders in dramaland next year? Choi Kang-hee’s heroine has a condition that causes her to blush uncontrollably, and so she disguises herself as a grandma (for some logical reason… I’m sure).
The hero is a psychiatrist who harbors a painful trauma stemming from the death of his older brother, which sends him into hiding. The drama will depict their romance as they gradually overcome their personal issues and draw each other out of their shells. Former idol So-hee of the Wonder Girls has been cast to play the hero’s little sister.
Nothing in the setup really grabs me yet, but I can see PD Lee making something that sounds plain on paper very sweet and relatable on screen. I like Chun Jung-myung’s turn in Reset (I’m behind on that show, but it’s enjoyable so far), though honestly I always prefer him in lighter fare, which he tends to do less of. I get that he wants to be a badass, but c’mon, have you seen What’s Up Fox? Let’s play to our strengths, cutie.
Heart to Heart follows Misaeng on Fridays and Saturdays, and premieres in January.

All I can say is " dear subbers- good luck with the medical terms".
As someone who went through 4 medical dramas on viki- there are so many psychiatric illnesses/ conditions coming- the writers will be in a competition to find new obscure conditions.
I bet the CR or DF subs will skip it. Hah. >__<

If TVN offers you something just say YES! LoL. They are on the roll right now, from High School King of Savvy to Marriage Not Dating to Plus Nine Boys and many more. And right now Misaeng and Liar Game. So just say yes!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved him so much in What's Up Fox. I find him alot better in lighter fare too.
Disguises herself as a grandma? Umm. Why?
I guess it's slightly different from all the upcoming shows centering around mental illness (the impact of It's Okay It's Love) because the twist is that he's the psychiatrist, not her. Still, I'm wary of these upcoming shows and how they're going to handle these issues. Please don't romanticize it!

Last ep of Reset on Oct 26. He will have 2 weeks to rest then.
I will prolly watch just to compare & rank all those psychiatry loaded dramas (storyline here is so lifted from IOKTL, it's not even funny).
On a sidenote, I would have called this drama "Tête à tête".

Am i the only one who cannot like Choi Kang Hee. I've tried her drama and movies but unfortunately I've always find her annoying and can't relate to any of her character. :(
I like Chun Jun Myung in What's up Fox so I really hope the female lead is not her so I can't enjoy the drama.

I wouldn't be surprised if it manages to come out on top (quality-wise) after all these psychiatric themed - mental illness dramas air. Judging from the synopsis of all of these new shows IOIL is starting to look tame.

Oh, well now I suddenly care about this. I will love him forever for What's Up, Fox and Goodbye Solo! Will definitely check this out if he's in it because his recent show hasn't grabbed me yet.
Now if only they can get a female lead I actually want...

I don't know. This show reminds me of Rain's comeback drama. I love Rain, but there's something about his new drama (what's the title?) that doesn't appeal to me.
I haven't seen it yet. And have no intention what so ever to give it a try because there's nothing about its description that piques my interest. It sounds extremely dull (Rain's drama I mean).
This one comes a close second (it's saved by that disguised as a grandma part).

Finally! I totally agree and been waiting for him to do something else that's cute and romantic. That dimply smile, those sparkling eyes... He's one of the original "puppies".

I hope this doesn't gloss over mental illnesses with puppy love and rainbows and actually provides the Korean public with useful information.
The amount of suicide there is ridiculous.
