Baek Sung-hyun headlines romantic comedy web drama
by girlfriday
Baek Sung-hyun (IRIS 2) will be pulling double duty online next month, as he’ll be starring in two web dramas set to premiere around the same time. He was recently cast in the upcoming web series Love Cells, where he’ll play a top idol; he’s now been cast to headline a different 6-episode web drama called Dreaming Executive, where he plays a young business executive who learns how to dream of something other than success in the workplace.
The short series is a romantic comedy about young twentysomethings, and Baek Sung-hyun stars as a successful IT businessman whose sole joy in life is work. He works so hard that he leaves little room for anything else, and lives every day like it’s a battleground out there. Idol Jeon Ji-yoon (of 4Minute) plays the strong and cheerful heroine who’s a carefree spirit. She was influenced by her traveler mother, and runs a food blog where she chases down cuisine from all over the world.
They end up living together unexpectedly, and she’ll influence him with her optimism, until he begins to dream and find courage to try new things. It’s described as a sweet and fresh love story with warm characters, which sounds very appealing. It’ll be the first acting project for Jeon Ji-yoon, so we’ll have to see about her, but I’ve liked Baek Sung-hyun in everything I’ve seen him in. Hopefully the web dramas will be worthwhile, and next year, let’s see you in more TV dramas, yeah?
Dreaming Executive plans to premiere in mid-October.

He's a 25 year old actor who's starred in movies and dramas. First drama I watched was "White Christmas", while it wasn't perfect, it was a really good drama. I endured "Melody of Love" just to watch him. I already know, I'm crazy.

I dropped melody with about 50 episodes left I couldn't take it even though I was only watching it for him. And I'm really glad I did drop it when I did because I read about the last few episodes craziness...

Baek Sung-hyun is very deserving in my opinion. He and Park Shin-hye started as rookie/child actors during the 'Stairway to Heaven' days as young Kwon Sang-woo and young Choi Ji-woo. (and Lee Wan, too, as young second male lead)
Park Shin-hye made breakthrough in 'Tree of Heaven' and the rest is history.
(Lee Wan is unbelievably great in 'Tree of Heaven'! Dang! Actors like Lee Wan will forever be the ones I will root for!)
Baek Sung-hyun is a fantastic actor, loved him in Accidental Couple, and he deserves a big break. Starlets/wannabes are swiftly emerging left and right. Sadly hardly anyone knows Baek Sung-hyun today. So, right now, I am very, very happy for him, even in this web drama. Support you, brotha!

My thought exactly!
Lee Wan was perfect in Tree of Heaven.
Honestly I love Park Shin Hye and dislike when I see some comments that she can't act. Now that she hit big I hope she will also do a melodrama and showcase her acting abilities.
I wish more people know Baek Sung Hyun. He got that extra vibe as an actor and I hope he get his big break!
I was really hoping he and Park Shin Hye would reunite in Pinocchio so that his fanbase can grew but Lee Jong Suk work too. Please let there be a reunion between Baek Sung Hyun and Park Shin Hye. Their chemistry in Stairway to Heaven was so adorable. Please dramagods.

When 'Pinocchio' was courting Park Shin-hye, I immediately thought of Baek Sung-hyun. The character draft for the male lead is definitely his, but Lee Jong-suk is the "in" thing for them and producers. Baek Sung-hyun is not given a fair chance, because of growing competition. Though quite honestly I am not a Park Shin-hye fan. Was, but not anymore. I'm more of the Lee Min-jung / Goo Hye-sun type. But if we talk about redeeming Baek Sung-hyun to where he deserves, I agree with you on a reunion with Park Shin-hye. In little things like this, I choose to be happy for the actor.

The plot sounds nice and sweet. Easy watch. I've seen Baek Sung Hyun in White Christmas and IRIS 2, but he was more memorable in WC.
I like Jiyoon in 4Minute so I'm curious about how she'll be as an actress.
I'm not familiar with these web drama types, but I hope I can access them.

The plot is so sweet. I like the idea of a female lead that runs a food blog, that's so normal - which is rare in dramaland. I wish we had more ordinary dramas on network, like MND for example (or My Lovely Girl - which I just love for its sheer simplicity - but that's debatable).
Anyway, this looks promising. I've never seen a web drama before other than the one with SIG-WJW recently. I'm assuming it usually caters to younger audiences, so hopefully it remains sweet and simple.

Is he the boy who acted as young KSW in stairway to heaven? It's a pity he is not as recognized as his then co-star park shin hye. I think he is really a very good actor who can bring out all the characters well

Yup, he was the young KSW in Stairway to Heaven. I've seen him in a handful of dramas and movies thus can agree that he always get a likeable, steadfast character. But the the most memorable one is his White Christmas outing as the leader of bright and rich HS students.

I think all BSH's fans should write to KBS for the sequel of Adolescence Melody. The kids were lovely but the ending really begs for it. Another 4 eps should be fine.

Love him, wish he'd hit it big so I could see more of him. I like this plot idea, hope I can watch it somewhere. Dunno 'bout her but I'm not worried so far.
