Lee Jong-seok and Park Shin-hye courted for Pinocchio
by girlfriday
Okay, this is one reunion I’m rooting for in dramaland: Lee Jong-seok is considering a reunion with the PD-writer team behind I Hear Your Voice, for their new fall drama Pinocchio. It might actually wash out the part of my brain that went mushy trying to hold onto some semblance of sanity while watching Doctor Stranger. Maybe. It’s too early to count any chickens since he’s just considering the offer, and I’d take the casting rumors with a huge grain of salt since an earlier round initially had Kim Woo-bin in contention for the role for about a minute. Is casting both of them out of the question?
I’m a little less excited about Park Shin-hye being courted to co-star, even though I like her fine in most things… it’s just that Heirs kind of tipped her over for me on the ratio of actress to number of sad Candy characters played, and bad associations linger (to be fair, they do for Lee Min-ho and Kim Woo-bin as well). On the upside, I do actually trust the I Hear Your Voice writer to come up with a heroine who stands up for herself and speaks her mind; on the downside, I’ll probably be sad that Lee Bo-young isn’t playing her.
Pinocchio is SBS’s late-fall Wednesday-Thursday drama from PD Jo Soo-won and writer Park Hye-ryun, that tells the story of young reporters who are on duty ’round the clock at the city news desk in search of the truth. I fully expect the show to do a late reveal that it’s about a hero who has the power to tell if people are lying or something, but maybe it’ll veer away from being a carbon copy of Voice’s setup.
The writer also scripted Dream High, which was an endearing youthful drama about banding together to chase your dreams. I can see Pinocchio melding the two, with reporters instead of laywers and twentysomething dreamers instead of teens. I basically felt like You’re All Surrounded was that setup for cops, so perhaps we can expect something similar for rookie reporters.
I’m sure casting will go through numerous rounds of Will they or won’t they since it’s still August; Pinocchio follows She’s So Lovable (after It’s Okay, It’s Love) in mid-November.

As soon as I saw PSH my anticipation drops about 80%.
I guess like many others, her Heirs role just did her in for me. Still not sure if it was just downright bad acting, or writing and directing, but it seems like all she plays are Cinderella Candies that cry a lot.

I try to wash away PSH sad candy girl role in Heirs by thinking of her role in Flower Boy Next Door. Her character as Dok Mi isn't exactly far from her other roles but Dok Mi had so much character growth in the entire series. Dok Mi is a very sympathetic and not a one dimensional character. Though I must admit it was mostly because of the fairly good writing. There was nothing really new with the performance she gave and the kissing scene was so disappointing (as per usual for PSH).

If the girl would just learn how to kiss her leading man like she doesn't fear she's about to become a victim of sexual assault, and take on a complex role that calls for some actual backbone, I'm sure she could begin to stem the negative tide that has begun to ride in at the mention of her name nowadays. Come on PSH, I'm rooting for you, girl!

SBS doesn't beat around the bush. Unless accident (knocks her head), I consider this a done deal. Both have to restore their image after a bad drama and this writer is the ticket. No brainer.
I have no doubt about LJS or the writer (geniiiiuses of their respective crafts). Now let's hope we will have a PSH 2.0 that would go with them...

Actually are Heirs and Doctor Stranger not considered bad dramas. They both did fairly well in ratings. Just because we outstanders don't like it, doesn't mean the Korean fans don't. I think both dramas did pretty good there and received a lot of positive things (as far as I can tell though).
Still, I am sick of PSH too. I loved her in the beginning (I get annoyed with her kissing scenes too, but maybe that's how it's written in the script) but now she just annoys me. She is casted in so many dramas that could have had a better actress or give another one the chance and always plays those roles I'm sick off. Especially in Heirs. I hated her character.

Exactly!
I don't want to be mean, but to me watching PSH performances feels like what it would be like to watch a mime doing a drama. It's a collection of 'impressions' that are delivered exactly the same way, each and every time. The thoughtful reflection, the look of paaaaaaaaaain, the crying, the rigid kisses, the wide-eyed-pursed-lipped look of surprise, the wrist grab whiplash. Ugh.
What I find most frustrating about watching her, is that it seems like she might actually have the talent to deliver a character that's its own unique person. But, for whatever reason, she just doesn't.

I am sure there is a real term for it, but I think of it as "acting by rote". When you only have 5 or 6 styles, you are pretty limited. It seems like she has a total absence of any nuances - it is the same exact formula expression every time.
When Heir was going hot, I thought maybe it was not her, but I went back and looked at a few scenes from earliear shows, and she was the same way.
She should stick to modeling.

yeah, Yoon Si-yoon is a good kisser and that kiss was looooooong. Most of the noona-dongsaeng romances has the best kisses like My sweet Seoul, 9th with 2 outs, and recently the Witch Romance.
But I think Yoo Seung-ho and Park Eun-bin's kiss in Operation Proposal was really hot considering they were just 18 and 19 yrs. old at that time.

Which dramas did LMH genius-kiss in? The ones I remember (I'm drawing a blank and I haven't watched all his stuff) were okay, but nothing like Yoon Si-Yoon's Me Too, Flower one or currently Jo In-sung's It's Okay It's Love ones (which I'd qualify as genius-kisses).

Just curious, how do you define a genius drama kiss? My impressions are in line with yours. I'm curious to know what you think are the critical elements.

August 21, 2014 at 1:32 PM
Uhhh, in the context of this discussion I was thinking of genius kisses (thanks JoAnne for adding a word to everyone's vocabulary today!!!) as ones that involve both parties actively, lip movement (and more) from both. Sensual French kisses essentially. Definitely NOT one of them being a wooden plank. Or both of them pressing their lips against each other and then standing there for 30 secs pretending that it's some sort of passionate kiss, usually with cameras swirling around them (?!?!?!?!?).
This is not to say that other kinds of kisses don't have their place. Tiny, gentle kisses (that express affection rather than sexual desire), almost kisses, enthusiastic surprise kisses (like LJS in IHYV when the female lead says she'll go out with him and he smiles, runs off and runs back for a short "I'm so happy" kiss on the lips) can all do their bit.... but wooden plank and frozen lip-press kisses are always just silly.

August 21, 2014 at 12:50 PM
The LMH kiss I've heard people talk about was in Personal Taste. But to me that kiss was nothing more than a lot of directorial flourishes to create the perception of a good kiss. If a kiss is good, the director doesn't need to add all the swirly whirly camera work to add a sense of connectedness (or perhaps mask disconnectedness), and the loud emotional soundtrack to stoke our emotions.
The best kiss I've seen LMH do was actually the almost-a-kiss in City Hunter (the one when the lead female was asleep on his couch). In how they created that scene I could feel the emotion and passion of a kiss, even without it actually happening.
(Though, LOL, in the behind-the-scenes footage, when his lips almost touch the actress he spontaneously jumps back like she's kryptonite...and then giggled uncontrollably. Such a knucklehead.)

Agree on the Personal Taste kiss... that was a creating-the-impression-of-a-kiss-with-the-camera, not a real one.
Actually, I agree with you on the City Hunter kiss too... it wasn't what I was talking about in terms of "genius kisses" (since the context were PSH's wooden-plank kisses or whatever you want to call them), but sometimes the most chaste or the almost-kisses create are the most sensual! In fact, the best of actors can go a whole drama without a single kiss and can still create sizzling chemistry...

I have to admit I'm not a fan of LJS (I know, heresy around these parts) -his face is so jacked I can't get past it when I'm watching him. But he's a decent actor, and this plot sounds interesting.
I'm a PSH fan, and I'm excited at the chance to see her in a different type of role. It's kind of unfair to say you dislike her because she's done lots of "Candy" roles, then turn around and say you don't want her to get a chance in a different milieu. If she's cast, keep an open mind before dismissing her out of hand (not even getting into the inevitable "but she's so terrible at kissing" chants, because if that's the metric you judge acting by . . .not too many places you can go from there).
Anyway, the plot sounds intriguing and I'll probably give it a shot no matter who's cast.

yeah his face is weird (the nose job was totally unnecessary) but he's a good enough actor that he makes it easy to look past the PS work.
I really do like Park Shin-hye, despite her tendency to look like she's cringing in kiss scenes. But I absolutely hated Heirs, and her role did her no favours - it had none of the charm she is capable of bringing to a role, and she and LMH had zero romantic chemistry - though I admit she had some with KWB. And even if some of the criticisms are warranted, I do think she is good and people comparing her unfavourably with Suzy or LJS' last leading lady (won't say her name, she may as well be Voldemort around here) are way off base.
I'm intrigued about what her pairing with LJS will be like, if they both accept. But if she passes, I won't be cut up if the role goes to one of her Heirs costars - Im Joo-eun is in the market for a decent role for a while now. Ditto Kim Jiwon.

I'm sorry but in kdrama's kissing is not just a little part of it. If that long awaited for moment isn't done properly then the whole drama is a disappointment. The reason most of us watch them is because they can turn one kiss into so much more than what a US film tries to do with a whole sex scene.

They are both coming from two awful dramas (I don't care about ratings) so I'm really wary of either one's next project choice. I would need an amazing synopsis, genuinely intriguing characters and solid casting all around to be drawn into this (not getting a sense of this yet at all)... LJS has given me some dramas I enjoyed (School 2013, IHYV), but they weren't all his appeal: in School 2013 it was the magic of the whole ensemble cast and in IHYV the female lead had at least as much to do with me loving that drama as LJS. PSH I have found at best average and some of her dramas I've just disliked immensely (Heartstrings, Heirs).
The IHYV team is a plus point, but I also know that all the legal parts of that drama were utter nonsense.
I also have to wonder why Kim Woobin passed on this...
<to be fair, they do for Lee Min-ho and Kim Woo-bin as well
That's true, and I was thinking about the fact why Kim Woo-bin's choice in Heirs doesn't really affect my opinion of him (as someone with immense talent and who generally makes good project choices). I think it's down to the fact that he's got other really interesting projects to his name (esp. since he seems to be turning more to film) and that despite of being in one of the shittiest drama ever, he actually made something of his role. As much his character was awful, he was fascinating. It's that aura/flair he's got, which neither LMH nor PSH have for me.

IHYV's legal parts were never really what the drama was truly about, otherwise we'd all have dropped it in rage, heh.
I believe Kim Woo-bin passed on this one because he's got conflicting commitments. But I do agree, he made his character actually interesting despite how despicable he was at the beginning.....which genuinely surprised me because before Heirs, I'd thought of him as an actor whose appeal lay in raw charisma and onscreen energy rather than actorly skill. And he did what even I didn't think was possible - he stole the show from right under the nose of none other than Lee Min-ho. Fo
(and the same goes for Kim Ji-won as Rachel, which was a really good performance. One of the best executions of 'bitchy but vulnerable' I've ever seen, she should have been the star of her own drama. Preferably with Kim Woo-bin and Kang Haneul as leads).

KWB was never even considered for this drama in the first place… so he did not pass it.
The production company, Sidus HQ, had been media-playing since earlier this year to have one of their actors (KWB is under Sidus) as lead in the drama. However, it backfired as SBS Drama chief himself released an interview with press stating that both the writer and the director were already in discussion with someone better suited for the role.

Well, at least Sidus has better actors on their roster than JYP (who produced Dream High and stuffed it full of idols with no eye to whether they could act). And Kim Woobin's reps were very definite that they had received an offer, I doubt that is an outright lie.
If they are indeed going for one of their actors in the lead, I hope they consider Lee Yubi. She's much more in need of a break than Kim Woo-bin.

KWB's reps' statements don't really add up… and a lot gets lost in translation...
On August 7th at 8:02 am, Sidus released an exclusive article where a Sidus rep gave an interview confirming that KWB has received and accepted the lead role in Pinocchio; and that, after co-ordinating his schedules with the movie he's filming (which is also a Sidus production so co-ordinating between the movie and the drama schedules shouldn't be a problem), he will proceed to film both.
http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD&mid=sec&sid1=106&oid=241&aid=0002238934
Just a few minutes later, at 8:30 am, Sidus reps released several articles stating that It's hard to even say that KWB is in talks for a role in this drama (which contradicts what they said in the previous article) due to schedule conflicts with the movie filming, but that he received an offer.
http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD&mid=sec&sid1=106&oid=109&aid=0002847700
Starting at 9:07 am, SBS's side released several articles denying Sidus' statements. According to an interview with the drama department chief "the writer and the director are in the middle of discussions with an actor better suited for the role". He also added that KWB does not even match the character in question and that he was never considered for the role.
http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD&mid=sec&sid1=004&oid=005&aid=0000681687
http://news.naver.com/main/read.nhn?mode=LSD&mid=sec&sid1=106&oid=047&aid=0002064764
Note that it is very rare for the drama department chief to come out in person and do an interview like that (which confirms that SBS's side was very irritated by the media play seeing as how they put a stop to it as soon as it started).

"PSH I have found at best average and some of her dramas I’ve just disliked immensely (Heartstrings, Heirs)."
I know I'll be very, very alone on this one, but the show of hers that I dislike most is You Are Beautiful. To this day I can't connect with why people rave about it. A lot of that was because I thought her acting consisted of repeating a handful of predictable stock reactions; which started to become really annoying by the middle of the series.
At the time I thought it must be because she was a really young actress pushed into handling the pressure of a lead role. But unfortunately it seems to have set a fixed template for everything she's done since. And that's wearing thin on everyone but her most ardent fans.
But I don't think this is necessarily her fault. If they hire her I want to see them turn her loose as an artist, and let her create a character that's entirely new.

Lol SBS, you are so predictable. For some reason I had a feeling they would try and cast these two.
The problem I have with this writer is that is that all the ~serious~ parts of IHYV didn't work for me (the law stuff was laughable). But her characters are lovely, and the lighter parts of IHYV were very watchable. The tonal shifts were just too jarring for me. If she keeps Pinocchio lighthearted like DH, I think I could enjoy this show alot.
Yes to PSH (she gets so much crap but she can act, she just chooses poor roles for herself), and I'm okay with LJS. He's decent enough, though I'm not sure how I feel about him being the go to actor for dramas nowadays. That's a cute picture of him though :'). I do think they would be really adorable together.

Although PSH only managed to make me like her in FBND and her other drama chars are meh, but who knows, maybe LJS can bring the other side of her that makes us root for her.

Heirs is actually the huge hit I'd never want my favourite to be in. I think it really did much more damage than good to PSH's career.
I still love her and would watch her if she's in a good drama. Too bad LJS is in my never-watch list. DS really tipped the boat for me and no matter how good a show he's in, I don't see myself ever giving him another chance. To be fair, I've seen almost everything he's in and never liked him whatsoever. So if anything, I hope PSH doesn't do it because this will be the second show in a row that I'd skip with her in it.

I must agree that DS was an awful drama. Having said that despite of the drama's writing, LJS did a decent job. If a drama plot is off as if the writer were suffering from schizoid personality disorder,,, even a very talented actor would have a hard time to pull off his role. The drama was wasted on two male leads.

I too initially thought he was decent in DS, actually. But as it went on, I felt the little patience I had for him slip away completely - both for the actor and character. No one could've saved that thing they passed off as script for DS. But it doesn't change the fact that I'd probably never pick a drama with him again, even if the reviews were good.

Yeah, the entire cast of "Heirs" went down in my book. Eck. No, I didn't suffer through it, and yet, what I did watch left a bad, bad taste in my mouth. Park Shin-hye = Biggest Candy Ever until she proves otherwise. This pairing might work though.

I didn't know who Kim woo-bin was till i watched heirs. Heirs made me love KWB and i started heirs for LMH(now i don't care much for him), after i dropped the show, i immediately went to find KWB's other works.
As for Park Shin-hye, there's just something about her that makes it hard for me to like her, and everything i've seen her in, i hated.

Please PSH stop messing with dramas I am interested to watch! How come the clever writers of IHYV couldn't ban her from coming on board? Maybe writers have no such power at the end of the day.
One more drama I'll have to watch with her since I'm eagerly awaiting the next one from this writer and I really like LJS. One more time to cringe at her lack of expression and teary eyes, again!
Please stick to weekend drama or movies PSH!

You might don't get it just like I don't get the hate she gets either, Yes she isn't the best actress but she is no where near terrible either. She is one of the best actresses in her generation. The problem is the roles she picks
She is loved because of many reasons. She is a child actress who growing up in the eyes of public. She has the image that Korea love and adore. She can act (whether you agree or not). She is lovable and down-to-earth ( to stay friends w most of her co-workers) . She is talented (besides acting she can sing, dance, cook, play music instrument, good at sports and driving). And she is loved in Korea for many reason.
First she was a child actress who growing up in front of the public eyes.
She is a natural beauty.
She can act (whether you agree or not).
Her dramas and movies are successful internationally and nationally.
She is friendly and down to earth ( many actors remain her friends after filming).
She has great image with often praise online ( her personality, schoolwork, and charity stuffs and donations more than often).
She is talented. Besides acting, she can sing dance, play music instruments, cook, good at sport and driving... Basically besides kissing there is nothing she can do :P

As for the weekend dramas, I know she won't, it was obviously a joke. :)
Don't let the fact that so many people dislike her acting be confused with hating. I like her personality in variety I do believe she is probably a nice girl I just don't want her in the week dramas anymore. :)

Haaaaaa.... T_T PSH.... I like her as a person (from what ive seen in variety shows), as a singer, and as a dancer but... acting... not so much....
Ive watched nearly all her dramas and its just the same expressions and same personality over and over again. Im kind of sick of her characters and expressions plus she doesnt give much umph to her characters. Since so many has said basically what i wanted to say, ive kept it to the basics.
However, i do want her to take on different roles so that she can prove me wrong and i hope the writer wont make the candy characters shes been taking on for the last decade or that she at least makes up a different expression. That being said, ive always been wary of watching dramas shes in because more or less, i find her repetitive and flat which really annoys me no matter how good her co-actors/ the whole cast and writing is.
All in all... ill tune in for the first few episodes to give her a chance but... it might be a high chance to skip for me.

LOL. Snail. Except after Fated to Love You, I can't see that in exactly the same way.
Your post got me thinking about what really bugs me about those scenes. Finally the analogy that came to mind is what they say about abused children/adolescents. When the abuse initially starts they don't know how to respond to their attacker. But based on insecurity, guilt and self-doubt, the child/adolsecent tensely endures what's being done to them. The attacker initiates them by telling them to endure, then they entrench them by telling them to enjoy.
That's a horrible thing to imagine, but it's what her kiss scenes evoke. Adult to adult it seems 'wooden' and weird. But there's something about it that's always struck me as sending a deeper, creepier message too. It implies that if you don't like or want physical contact you should still silently endure it.
Even if PSH and her handlers want her kiss scenes to seem innocent, they should come up with a better way to do it.

Thanks for your spot on analysis. Her kiss scenes are not only wooden (that would be forgivable) they are also on so many levels, disturbing. Thanks for pointing out why. It bothered me, but I never figured out why until I read your post. It does remind one of watching an abuse scene.

That was exactly what i thought! She seemed as if she was always scared and forced to do it that she made me uncomfortable as a viewer. It totally gave off the feeling of her being attacked (originally i was gonna say that she was about to be sexually harassed but found it inappropriate so i changed it into a more family friendly situation, hence the snail) and it never ever felt romantic or moving to me, but like you said, a little creepy instead.
I think it's because she tightly shuts her lips and makes a worried and unwilling, maybe even a little disgusted, face. But that may just be my opinion...

To be fair, I think Park Shin-hye did the best she could with what she was given in Heirs. She wasn't at her best, but that could also be because of the writing. The only drama by that writer that I've actively enjoyed was A Gentleman's Dignity. Anyway, I do like Park Shin-hye and think she is one of the best actresses of her generation. She's not THE BEST, but she's one of them. I think she'd be good in this.

The extent of the messiness of Dr Stranger can be measured by the speed with which the leads (the ones who can actually act, anyway) are moving on to their next projects - Kang Sora, Park Hae-jin and now Lee Jong-seok are all doing/considering new dramas as lead before the year is even out, I imagine they all want a better piece of work to their names in 2014 than DS.
I like Park Shin-hye, but Heirs was the worst I've ever seen from her. Wouldn't mind if she took this on as I've been curious about how she and LJS would be as a pair, but I wouldn't be sad if the role went to another talented young actress (not an idol) who could actually benefit from the break. It's high time Lee Yubi did a drama again, just saying....wouldn't hurt to see Kim Ji-won again either, wasn't she in the PD's last project?

It's surprising to see so many people actively disliking Park Shin-hye. She's never been my favorite, but I have a soft spot for her ever since You're Beautiful. And I actually thought her portrayal of her FBND character was spot on and wonderful. I stopped watching Heirs very early on, but it did, admittedly, make me think less of her. But to actually not watch a drama because she's in it? No way. Because in all of her well-written dramas she's been pretty good and given me heroines to root for. I also remember her being spunky and cool in Dating Agency Cyrano, so I guess I'm still holding out for her to get a role more like that in a drama.

I agree with you. I was able to relate with her character in FBND. She did it so wonderfully. Talking about Heirs, it was a huge mess but it at least made her more popular in China (I just read that she has somewhat 6 mil followers on Weribo, which I guess is a big deal). She is still young and has a chance to improve herself. I remember everyone criticizing Goo Hye Sun before AE, but she was actually good!
I'm pretty sure that most of the people saying that they are going to skip the drama are going to try the first episode at least. Had she not been this popular, people would not have reacted this way.

Im a fan of PSH and she was good in Heirs and I guess you cant please everyone. But please give her a chance rather than criticising her acting. I find her acting very natural and she's great in pulling off all her emotional scenes. But I do agree that her kissing scenes arent naturally done but i do see that in a lot of korean Actresses too. Most just stand there and dont even touch the male actor. But you got to ask why the filming directors and crew let such lifeless acting pass for their films. They spend so much time, effort and money in filming yet they never considered perfecting such (and most of the time important) scenes. I dont get it?? So cut the slack off these actresses I think the film crew should do something about it for change to occur in K dramas or movies.

Although from a practical stand point, that's just too much cute/aygeo for one show. LOVE Lee Jong Suk (even after Doctor Stranger cause that was the writer's fault). Meh, about Park Shin Hye. She has been type cast as the cute damsel in distress for so long (and then she stopped trying to act and just rode the fame) that she would kill any drama for me, but I think paired with the right male lead and not cast as a damsel, she could do a little better. But I just don't like this couple. You can't have "cute" on both sides of the relationship. Keep LJS, get someone to replace PSH.

I hope that the writers/directors saw the editorials or whatever that LJS and PSH did together and that's what made them interested in offering them the roles... which gives me hope Shin Hye's role wont end up being candy-candy and is instead some sort of strong smoldering woman. Since its a union again from the same writer and director that did I hear your voice it makes me hopeful! The lead woman in that story was interesting and I enjoyed her quite a bit.
Please... please... I know Shin Hye can act, and can even kiss (GOONG S or Etude House CF with JGS) I dunno whats happened with her kisses tho' I feel like she's been scarred (esp after that closed fist lip lock at the end of heirs, I wonder if there might actually be a reason why her kisses are so stiff) If they take the roles, I just pray the heroine is written well. I actually enjoy her acting. Of course she is still young and has her way to go, but every actor does that. Doctor Stranger didn't really give her the opportunity? And unlike others I actually think she did have other facial expression and really wondered if I saw a different drama than you, who think she only has one expression). I especially liked her in the Beginning of Doctor Stranger, where they were still teenagers.
Han Seung Hee didn't really give it away to have that much of changing expressions because her character wasn't really that explored. She was a lead but didn't appear very much? That had a lot to do with the Writing here. If she had the chance she could do it. I loved the Moment she stood before Hoons Computer and saw the video of hers and we see her eyes with tears, totally into that video, speaking Hoon's name.
She could cry, she could look really tough and angry and she has a wonderful smile. For me that was enough in the drama. Han Seung Hee didn't seem to be easy to play.
And no, I'm not bashing anyone, but her anti fans constantly go on about how she has one expression when she clearly has more. Do you know what even ONE expression is, yes ONE, SINGLE. I never watched anything from her before, but if she has the chance of a great drama, overall with Lee Jong Seok again, I would watch it. Please writers, give her character more depth and place then!
I am a fan of her now, and I would like to see her in another drama. Or with Kim Ji Won, I loved High Kick 3 with Lee Jong Seok and her :)

After being had by LJS previous work..I don't think I'm going to watch his project anymore..because, it seems like either this guy have narcissistic personality disorder, prophet's complex, or the writer is actually the president of his fanclub, and doing their daily basis fangirling/fanboying job.
His drama always about him being the special ones, and it's actually quite irritating. At least in I Hear Your Voice, the second male lead and the main heroine compensates that. Still in that drama, he's not just being like super cool, genius, but he have special power too! It's like the second male lead doesn't stand the chance to win the girl..and this is why I prefer American shows like House because the genius not a super perfect genius, but a drug addict and have lots of flaws and he lost his girl because of that.
So far, Lee Jun Ki, So Ji Sub, Lee Kwang Soo(It's Okay,It's Love), and Park Si Hoo for his potrayal in Cheomdong Alice are my favorite korean actors because their characters are not like super perfect guy. Their roles felt real.

I always find it strange as to how people give so much hate to casting of mediocre actors or actress (mediocre in their opinions). I mean how do you hate like that? It's so foreign to me. I see it more on other websites though. It's just a drama, it's just a casting, it's not going to do much to you especially if you don't care, so why get worked up about it? And also even if you think that an actor doesn't act well, I always feel there should be some tact when you say so instead of the usual she/he sucks etc etc. Would you really be able to say it to their faces?

PSH' earlier dramas are better... but I say her movies are a lot better than her dramas... she somehow acts better in them rather than dramas... as much as I love PSH I think her fans (as well as I) need to tone down their hype for her as she needs to know that there could be a lot of room for improvement. I didn't really get to Doctor Stranger but hearing how bad it is I am glad I dodge it!! excited for This one regardless if PSH is bad at kissing I just hope it's darker and that her character is stronger

Oh God! plz No Park Shin Hye! As much as I love Lee Jong-seok and Also Kim Woo Bin; I really detested Park Shin Hye.she has no skills. she is actually silly and weak in acting. She is a cliche. Hopefully, an experienced qualified actress is chosen, Like Lee Bo-young to help him glowing!!
