Kim Yoo-jung on the set of Secret Door
by awcoconuts
While we’ve had loads of casting info, we’re finally getting some action on the set of Secret Door. Here are the first stills of Kim Yoo-jung in character, and, at last, some information on her fictional character.
In the scenes shot a few days ago, she looks quite youthful and mischievous, and her character is described as a reckless 16-year-old who dreams of a righteous world. As it happens in dramas, she’s a geeeeeeenius mystery novel writer, who is sought out by a special task force under Crown Prince Sado (Lee Je-hoon). When the extent of her investigative mind is revealed, she’ll be at the core of unraveling palace mysteries, including the mystery of Prince Sado’s death.
It’s interesting to see the direction Secret Door seems to be heading in with its interpretation of historical events; up until now, we’d heard the show would focus on the conflict between King Yeongjo (Han Seok-kyu) and his son, Prince Sado. With this character description though, I’m left wondering if the majority of the show will be set in the period immediately after the royal prince’s demise, or whether the investigative task force will take center stage in uncovering other murders that take place during his lifetime.
I guess we’ll just have to watch to find out — Secret Door airs on SBS after Temptation ends in September.

She is a young woman already, that's for sure. Shallow speaking - I find her looks similar to that of Song hye-kyo's, from the bone structures to the nose to the upper lip. I think she is going to be a stunning looker.
And good thing for her is that she happens to be such a gifted actor with very commanding screen presence. I can't imagine what kind of career high she would be able to reach with such combinations.
Great for her!

Not that KYJ looks like YEH, but face shape-wise, has more the rounded face shape that YEH (and a few other actresses) has.

A young lady, but still too young for the lead. A bit of ick factor involved and I don't know why they would go that route, since it limits the romance aspect of the drama. Unless, they are going for a Tree with Deep Roots aspect, and are going to minimize the romance and focus on the mystery. In that case, I expect another boring drama.
Despite the praises heaped on TWDR, I thought the drama was extremely boring and too much of a try hard. There hasn't been a good sageuk in such a long time, well maybe Empress Ki (in the early stages, before it devolved into rubbish).
Korea seems to have lost its touch with Sageuks, perhaps it's time they start writing straight fictional historical dramas, instead of keep going back to the same stories, over and over again. For a country as old as Korea, you would think they would have more than a few folk heroes.

A Joseon Nancy Drew? I'm IN! That is a twist we haven't seen in the last thirty or so Sagueks.

Interesting! That means she could also be the geeenius mastermind who helps Prince Sado successfully fake his own death. Of course if that's the twist, they're giving too much away with the title of the show.
She looks so grown up in that first picture~ you can just see what a beautiful mature woman she'll be.

It's not proper spam; it's too generic. It's like the spam from a spoof of a spam. Good spam has to have either a link, or a point, or plenty of ham bits, fat, salt, and preservatives.

Yes, absolutely agree on all the ham and salty bits. This is such a bland spam :-)

I was so excited about this (especially when Lee Je Hoon's casting was finally confirmed), but the more I hear about it, the less thrilled I become. The true story is so much more interesting and fraught with emotion then this is starting to sound (cleaning up Sado's character first, and now...mystery novels??? ... I mean, that could be cool with like, ALL fictional characters, but what's the point of basing it on real events just to make it so gimmicky?).
I dunno, maybe I'm just a curmudgeony history nerd, but I've read Princess HyeGyung's memoirs and there's so much real human emotion and drama inherent in this story, and this show is just starting to sound so silly.
I'll probably still watch it, but I'm definitely not as excited as I was when I first heard about it. Sad.

You could watch other drama that depicts Sado or new movie starring YAI, MGY and Song Kang Ho. I read the movie is based on Memoirs of Lady Hyegyeong.

Just like what everyone has mentioned, she's growing up right before our eyes. Such a pretty and talented young lady!!!! And with regards to the drama, I'm really hoping for a solid and well-written plot and characters, the casts are a force in acting.
P.S. Maybe they started shooting her scenes in deference to the shooting cut-off of teens below 15 years old, which is a good thing.

in term of beauty wise... kim yoo jung trumps it compare to kim so hyun... but kim so hyun trumps for taking a variety range of role but they both seem to got a great stage presence... but kim yoo jung look really pretty in saeguk era and her beauty gonna be at song hye gyo level when she totally grown up.
