Trot Lovers busts out the sequins

You really can’t have a drama about trot singers and leave out the sequins, can you? It just wouldn’t be right. Here’s another batch of stills from KBS’s new Monday-Tuesday drama Trot Lovers, featuring second leads, fateful first encounters, and our trot-loving heroine’s penchant for sparkly outfits. Please tell me it’s something she’s wearing for an audition. On second thought, it might be funnier if she goes to the grocery store dressed that way.
There isn’t anything new in the way of plot description for this show, but in case you missed the basics: Jung Eun-ji (That Winter, The Wind Blows) stars as a wannabe trot singer who gets to work with famous star musician Ji Hyun-woo (Queen Inhyun’s Man). He thinks he’s too good for trot, but over the course of their bickering partnership he’ll eventually fall for her and turn her into a star.
Shin Sung-rok (You From Another Star) plays the agency president who will compete for the heroine’s affections, and Lee Se-young (Hot-Blooded Youth) is a trainee at the agency and future rival for Jung Eun-ji. She’s also Ji Hyun-woo’s first love, grumble grumble, which pretty much ensures that she’ll drive me crazy. And Sohn Ho-joon (Answer Me 1994) will be Ji Hyun-woo’s manager who lives in tracksuits and also dreams of being a trot singer someday. Someone get that man a Bedazzler, stat.
Trot Lovers follows Big Man and premieres June 23.

Hate it. It looks like the "frosted look" that was so, so stylish back in the 70's for ladies of a certain age. My mom always went for the I-Love-Lucy henna rinse, but other moms in the neighborhood - oy.

The hair is to distract us from the granny print suit.
I've seen this pic everywhere and everyone comments on the hair instead of the suit!
See? It's already working....
I like what Sohn Hojoon is doing, alternating between light and heavy roles. I wish Song Jae Rim would try that too instead of alternating between cute killer, mysterious killer, hot killer, and repentant killer.

Forget the hair, HIS TEETH. That adorable, quirky smile has been sacrificed to orthodontia :(
Eunji looks lovely, though. I'm wondering whether the trot concept hooks people, but hope it's good.

I felt exactly the same way.
But, although his smile was absolutely adorable, it probably wouldn't age well. So - though I'll miss the adorableness - from a long-term career perspective, it was a good decision for him to get the braces during his time in the military.

I just know already that it will be Sohn Ho Joon that will bring the most laughs with his tracksuits.
And although I watched Shin Sung Rok as a good guy in dramas before Another Star, it will take a while before Im convinced he isnt trying to kill our hero and heroine in this drama.

What would be funny is if he stars in a medical drama as The One Doctor Who Cares and everytime he sincerely says "I worry about your health" we'll laugh so much at the meta! ^^

recently I watched him in an episode of Family Outing and he was so different. He was clumsy and not sure what to do, while Kim Sooroo and yoon jong shin ordered him around. It was hilarious.

That must be the episode with GDragon. The one where they model and catch fish? The one where Chun Hee couldn't come?
I felt so bad for SSR, he was like a Chun Hee 2.0. If only people knew how clueless he was in "real" life.... and he was totally awkward around Hyori haha!
Have you seen Park Hae Jin's first episode? The one with chickens? :DDDDDD That was hilarious!

Lee Se-Young looks a bit like a whole lot of hair got poured on her head and she did not even notice
I dont like that kind of music I don´t think I´ll watch a lot
but tell me when there is a meta reference for the Sung Rok character about the nail ring

There are very few girls - and almost certainly none in K-ent - who are more beautiful than Eun-ji when she smiles. Her charm is totally what gives her beauty.

I liked her in Answer 1997 and checked her group just because of her and felt more in love, she is always smilling and seems to be enjoying it, I just love it.
She even belts her high notes while smilling....

I just adore Eun-ji! I'll go through this even if it were as bad as Doctor Stranger, but the stills are making me giddy. So cute!
I'm not quite familiar with JHW; I tried the first episode of QIHM but the initial sequence turned me off almost instantly. But that's now a benefit since I don't see differences in a guy I've never seen before. I'm so looking forward to this. I need a good mon-tue fix desperately.

Jung Eunji! And my dear Boong Do. I was hoping for a not-love-square but it's Jung Eunji and Boong Do so I'm willing to give it a chance. The writer though better make the story at least decent (don't make it like Big Man where the actor chemistry isn't enough to cover the gaping plot holes).
