Oh Snap! Joseon Gunman’s first still and second lead
by javabeans
We only get ONE still photograph out of Joseon Gunman to start us off, which is better than nothing, but still such a tease. Here we have second lead Jeon Hye-bin (God of the Office) playing Choi Hye-won, a merchant’s daughter with a cold, unapproachable mien who comes to fall for our hero (Lee Jun-ki).
Joseon Gunman premieres on June 25 on KBS.

Oh, that's so sad. Big time star? Catered lunches? Nope. On Korean drama sets, it's apparently ramen for even the leading actors because the shooting schedules are so insane.

it could be a guilty pleasure for many cause it is quick, at hand, and it is totally NOT salad or chicken breast that they SHOULD eat allways, forever and ever

I often wish that we could still wear traditional clothing (in whatever nationality) and matching hair styles w ornaments. Well, not for everyday wear, but at least whenever the mood hits, when we want to paint the town red!

Agreed! But not being a fan of American traditional dress (granny style puritan), I'd opt for either a hanbok or a sari.

Ha Ji Won's costumes and hair pieces as Empress Ki are to die for. They aren't really Chinese, but are more a fusion of Chinese, Japanese and Korean traditional wear. So wish we could dress up elaborately like that, for parties and such.

Me too! Normal wear being the cultural traditional clothing of our ancestors. Okay...some concessions being made for modesty/privacy etc. But yeah.. bring me that kaba...or hanbok.

in estonia, we have modernized versions of folk costumes and the patterns used everywhere but we wear the folk costumes on Song Festivals (~29 000 people) and women on Kihnu island wear them every day.
actually there was one region where I always thought our folk costume looked awfully similar to korean hanbok. wait a sec.... what was it now....Vormsi? maybe
here are some gals from Kihnu in traditional clothes just hanging out:

Yes agreed! Only after being out of my native country of Singapore for more than 25 years i am feeling the urge to wear the common traditional clothe of the chinese samfu/cheongsam malay kebaya/kurong, indian sari/punjabi suit and just simple dress. Fortunately we can wear those when a group of Singaporeans in our north texas city meet up!
The hanbok is very beautiful.
Am looking forward to this LJK series!

Sadly, American movies do so few costumers that you scarcely ever have to wonder what actresses--or actors--might look like in other eras. And when they do period pieces, there usually isn't that much difference in their general look.
On the other hand, in Asian drama, the difference between past and modern dress is so radical that even an actor/actress without much range has an alternative personality you get to look for if you're a fan. Like in classic Hollywood, where all the top leading men would have one look in modern settings and a distinct look and stance in Western roles.

ooh I love the hair accessories and the slightly puffed shoulders on her jeogiri (sp?)
Whatever else the drama may be, its costumes are going to be gorgeous, as are the people who wear them (oppa in a suit! Oppa in a suit!)

I have a major girl crush on Jeon Hye Bin. I've been watching Heart is Beating (Beating Hearts / 심장이 뛴다), and she's just the bees knees. As far as I'm concerned, she's a nearly perfect human being. She's more fierce and capable than her male counterparts. Her work ethic puts most people to shame. She has mad people skills, so much so that the people the 119 rescuers save trust her over other more experienced rescuers or even their family members. Her culinary skills dissolve the frowning tiger chief into silly grins. If she were older than me, I'd want her as my unni (but alas, she's younger).
Amazing.
