Jung Woo-sung and Kim Haneul pair up in amnesia romance-melo
by javabeans
Casting is now confirmed on the movie Forget Me Not, which will star Jung Woo-sung and Kim Haneul as love interests (yay). We’d mentioned this when the casting was first teased as a possibility; more details are out about the plot now, and the movie sounds more poignantly romantic than it did at the outset.
Forget Me Not follows the story of a man who has lost his memory in an accident, and it’s a condition he learns to live with as he continues with his life, falling in love again without knowing of his past. But then, bits of his lost memory from the past ten years start to surface in pieces, which hint at a secret in his past. Kim Haneul is the woman who falls in love with him (post-amnesia) at first sight, but she gets thrown into confusion once his lost memories begin resurfacing.
The movie is based on a short film that made the film festival circuit back in 2011, which has been expanded into feature format by its director, Lee Yoon-jung. Sounds like an interesting project for both stars, who ought to be able to do a lot with the mix of mystery, romance, and melodrama this project promises. Forget Me Not will begin filming mid-month.

I'm so glad Miss Lee got to make it into a full movie. She was promoting the short so passionately on Twitter and seeing the Kickstarter campaign succeed was a relief.
I wonder if Kim Jung Tae, the lead of the short, will return in some role. I'd love to see him again, although I realize the previous association might harm immersion somewhat.
But since wide audiences did not see that, it would be a cool little easter egg casting for those of us that followed it. :)

Amnesia plot #7,089? At least the romance starts after the amnesia~ that's refreshing. I'm interested, especially since I love JWS.

Yup, I guess we are back on the amnesia cycle again. That means that the next one we will be back on the time travel one.

This isn't a drama though, but a film. Plus, it's (despite what now is big names casting) an independent film.
I wouldn't throw indie films into the same pot as dramas that recycle everything – you'll see things you'll never see in dramas (which is why you get a super-pure heroine that faint if a guy as so much touches her fingernail by accident and fly-by kisses in dramas, but super graphic sexual scenes in films that won't even screen in Korea but only on the international film festival circuit...).

yeah, some of the Korean indies I've seen were nothing at all like what we recognise as Korean entertainment/from dramas.

Yeah, I actually got somewhat of a shock when I saw my first indie Korean movie. It was actually almost realistic.

Jung Woo-sung already did the amnesia thing in a movie. Why do they keep giving me amnesia scripts?

Of all the movies I've seen, I think Kim Haneul has been the female lead in about 50% of them. Which pretty much sums up to a. I like her a lot b. I haven't seen a lot of movies.
I have a thing for melo, and I have a thing for amnesia. So I'm up for this as long as it has a happy ending. It's hard to find that in melo movies these days.

He said in an interview that he'd like to try comedy. I wonder why he's still never done a romcom? I'd like to believe that he could do any roles. :)

I'm excited the reel will soon be rolling....
I was one of the crow funding contributors and the original short (which came titled as "Remember O Goddess") that this started as definitely had me wanting for a longer feature.
Very exciting (and impressive) that a tiny indie project managed to get some big name stars.

I've actually never seen Jung Woo-sung in a romcom. But if there's anything last year taught me, it's that sometimes romcom first-timers who are otherwise veterans, can make fantastic leads. As long as the chemistry is good of course.

I can't say that Kim Haneul's acting is not really my cup of coffee, cause I'm a fan! but there's something missing in her when it comes to building chemistry with her co-stars. As a fan who has seen many of her works, the chemistry she had with Yoon Kye Sang in 6 Years in Love is the one I could completely buy. In my opinion, even ang Dong Gun wasn't a big of help.

No offense, but at some point, amnesia has brought some romantic feelings now. No need to worry, you will gain your memory back and still has your lover next to you and all. How so ? Because all kdramas taught us that.
