Im Soo-jung, Lee Jong-seok courted to join Jo Jung-seok in Time Renegade

Steadily employed film actress Im Soo-jung (All About My Wife) has been offered another plum role. She’s still considering, but if she accepts, she’ll play the female lead in Time Renegade, a melodramatic movie about a man in the past and a man in the present who use all of their efforts to change one woman’s fate. I’m not sure what Im Soo-jung’s destiny entails, but it must be pretty bad if we’ve got two men from separate time periods undergoing valiant endeavors to save her from it.
Kwak Jae-young, who directed 2001’s runaway hit My Sassy Girl, will helm. Jo Jung-seok (The King’s Wrath, The Face Reader) is reviewing an offer to portray the man in the past, and he may be reunited with Lee Jong-seok (also The Face Reader) who is being wooed for the job of present-day admirer.
Although I love this potential ensemble, I refuse to watch Im Soo-jung (who is lovely and delicate and quirky) in a melo, as she wrung buckets of tears from me, and I mean BUCKETS, in the 2004 drama I’m Sorry, I Love You (and I think I only watched the first and last episodes). I’ve sworn off tearjerkers in general since then (yep, I still hold a grudge, and it’s been ten years). If it turns out there is an uplifting note to the film or threads of lighthearted fare woven in — certainly possible with director Kwak — I may be convinced to watch, but otherwise, I’ll be satisfied with reading the reviews.
For those who enjoy a good cry, this is a talented group with a proven ability to tug at the heartstrings, so you may want to keep this movie on your radar. Im Soo-jung’s in the middle of shooting Secret Temptation, while Jo Jung-seok just wrapped filming on My Love, My Bride and Lee Jong-seok is currently headlining Doctor Stranger. All three are expected to make a decision in the next few weeks.
Time Renegade is expected to begin production in the latter half of this year.

I have watched all the epis of MiSa and believe me when I tell you that I cried like a freakin baby while watching the last epi....
I was full fledged crying...no silent tears rather actually bawling my heart out with runny nose, overflowing tears and alien noises coming out of my mouth TT_TT I have never cried like that in any drama!!
I cried while watching the penultimate and the final epi of RTP too...but nothing can compare to the amount of tears I have shed over MiSa <\3

I watched Scent of a Woman, but I only cried when the female lead (KSA) told her best friend she had cancer. That scene really got to me, for some reason. I also liked the scene where she was in the ambulance and she joked to her doctor, and she was sweating (though it wasn't a funny moment).
I was moved by other scenes, but tears didn't come out.

I watched 49 Days and cried like no other. But then Empress Ki final episode beats it. I was in tears overnight

I actually didn't cry in 49 days...its because I was too busy at ridiculing the story line to get emotionally involved in it lol...As for "scent of woman" I kinda avoided it :3

49 Days. Oh man. That was one of my first dramas ever.
I think I may have gone through a solid box of tissues in the last three-ish episodes.
Rooftop Prince was also loads of tears.
Is MiSa really that heart wrenching? I never got past the first episode even though I do like the leads a lot (I cry too much and too easily to watch melos on a regular basis).

I totally believe you :-)! I don't mean to make fun of you, however it sounds like quite a crying fest you had back then. I am soooo glad you survived it :-) At least, you were courageous enough to watch all the epis., awcoconuts was chicken, and only made it through the 1st ep. and the last one :-)
I really loved how you described your crying. I could totally picture it. I watched RTP as well (all the epis.), however I didn't cry while watching any of the epis. I think it didn't move me as much as it moved you :-)

The scene when SJS's character was on the bike and he knew he was not gonna survive, he called ISJ and said those infamous lines "Mianada, saranghamnida"....yes I was crying at that moment....and then when she went to his grave and recalled all those moments she spent with him....right again, I was bawling....

i watch many sad drama but the drama that make me cry almost every episode is "90 days falling in love"
Kim sung soo ,Joo jin mo n joo won drama also make me cry so much, most of their drama is tearjerker

Haa, yeah...
My "never cried so much over anything fictional in my life" was Eun Shi Kyung's death in K2H... I was bawling so loud, I was honestly afraid I'd wake my flatmates cause it was in the middle of the night.
So yeah, of course I'm going to watch anything that JJS does, but I guess I should start saving up for waterproof clothes and a year supply of handkerchiefs...

OK, the death of the prosecutor in City Hunter, I can understand (it did serve a purpose, I think it made LMH"s character more determined to get justice. Though, if you ask me, his dad didn't really pay for his crimes. And yes I know, his dad was not as bad as the other guys. I think his choices cost him the rest of his term as a president?)
Eun Shi Kyung's death, I didn't cry, but I was really upset, for quite a while. That death made no sense to me. Not plot wise, not anything wise. It didn't do anything for the drama (move it forward or anything). He and the Princess deserved to be happy. I had an alternate ending (in my head) for those two, with her regaining the use of her body (you know, so they could have babies :-) and live a long life together). Eun Shi Kyung was just too good a character to not deserve FULL happiness :-) I just rewatched parts of ep. 16 of the K2Hs, and man, is the acting good in that drama. The lighting, the directing, the OST (I have the OST, btw). I would have to be in a certain mood to rewatch that drama (the whole thing), but it is a good drama.

I am kind of like the same way: I don't usually cry while watching dramas. I cry a few times, and I don't boo hoo cry. That doesn't mean I am not moved to tears often though, while watching dramas or movies (because I actually am).

Im Soo Jung and LJS are both chemistry generators - they'll be quite a couple to watch. Jo Jung Suk, I have only seen him in the Face Reader, and he was fantastic there. If this trio is out for my tears, I'd be a happy victim.

I love Im Soo-jung to death, and she's probably happiest in movies seeing as she hasn't done a drama since MiSa lol (and omg, that was a heart-wrencher, literally - but it does make me nostalgic for the days when network kdramas actually had proper kissing, because her and So Ji-sub.....WHOA).
I'd love to see what this movie turns out like, but damn Lee Jong-seok should probably take a break sometime. And I want JJS' other movie, the one with Shin Mina, already.

I love Im Soo-jung, she's always fantastic.
Not a fan of My Sassy Girl, but I guess it's a very different kind of genre so maybe that it's the same director doesn't matter.
If Jo Jung-seok and Lee Jong-seok are cast – wow, that's going to raise their acting status, given that Im Soo-jung is a Grade-A film actress who acts in the best of films only (I'm not talking box office numbers necessarily, but quality of productions). Good for both, I think they have the talent for it. Maybe they'll end up becoming film-actors-only themselves one day!

Haa, of course it's a compliment and honestly - I can absolutely understand anyone who leaves live shoots and whatnot behind if they have the chance.
It's just that I really, really want to see him in another drama again! T^T
But since he's also doing another musical, I just hope that he'll continue to do different kinds of projects :)
(And can I just say how EXTREMELY happy I am that he won't leave for the army? :D )

I love Jongsuk in dramas, but in movies not so. Among his movies so far, HBY was the only satisfactory one. And even then, I won't say I absolutely enjoyed it. Face Reader was okay but we didn't get much of him in it and that movie was too depressing to watch.
But again, it might be because kmovies don't interest me as much as kdramas...

None of the movies he has made so far are anything much to write about – they are entertaining, but they weren't the kind of projects that receive much attention/praise from critics or travel the international film festival circuit (except The Face Reader perhaps – quite a cast, but middling reviews for the film itself).
Generally though, if an actor can make it big in film, there's a lot prestige that comes with it, probably better money and better working conditions too. The best of film actors will be in film projects surrounded by others that excel at their craft, while the best of drama actors will have idols surrounding them and be stuck in productions that still have a lot more censorship (including creative). As much as I enjoy watching dramas, I don't blame any actor that leaves TV behind for film.

I just want to understand, why is what you wrote true? Is it because films get viewed overseas (is that where the prestige comes from?) But then, dramas get watched overseas as well, right? Is there more money because production companies invest more in movies? If so, do you know why? Or could it be that Korean production companies could possibly collaborate with foreign companies (thus bringing in more capital?) Or does it have anything to do with ticket sales, which can go directly into the pockets of all involved to make and produce and market the movie? (and we know there are no ticket sales for dramas).
As I said, I am just curious about what (and why) is financially different between making a drama and making a movie. I get that the working conditions are different. Movies do not take as long as dramas to shoot (they don't always, is what I mean). And a friend told me that actors in Kdramas do not get paid a lot, so ads and PPLs are important. Is that true? (I would think so)

Eeeeek Lee Jong-seok and Jo Jung-seok in another project together!! <3 them both, and they're both such talented actors that I hope they make it big, especially JJS (not that LJS isn't amazing, but I feel like he's already starting to become a hit vs. JJS who's been in the industry for a while but only recently got his big break).
