OMG. I saw the news of a ferry sinking at work, but I didn't know the details or that it was a Korean ferry.

Its so tragic. I pray for them and their families.

Hopefully the body count will go down. It's so sad and incredibly tragic for all those people. Sending prayers and comfort for their families.

I just found out an hour ago, it's so tragic. Here's to hoping we get only good news from here on.

Latest news now is that 179 people are still missing. It does not look good, also sending my thoughts and prayers.

I think all the variety shows, drama's and music shows in the coming days will be canceled because of this event.

I honestly didn't even think of the shows very much today... it just belatedly popped into my mind while clicking on DB as a force of habit before bed.

Ansan isn't too-too close to where I am, but goodness knows that we've been listening to the coverage here in Seoul during lunch hours and such, and all my students have been out this week on field trips too... We're vigilant for their sake and our area's certainly not cool enough to do a tip to Jeju, but it's put a lot of stress on every parent.

I took that same ferry once. It's too easy to imagine the great difficulty involved in getting out, when the boat is tilted in that way. It was earlier reported yesterday (noon KST) that all the students were rescued, then it was retracted. Here's to hoping that the divers are able to bring some kids back to their parents.

Yeah, not just dramas being pushed back but several other entertainment activities have been pushed back.

I was also saddened to read in some articles from some firsthand accounts of students saying they were instructed to stay in their seats and not move. By the time they decided to escape, it was too late. Sometimes you wonder how different things would have panned out had someone just went "EVACUATE. JUMP OFF SHIP. SWIM TO NEARBY RAFT." Unfortunately, it must have happened all too quickly, and not everyone can swim, which makes it all that more saddening.

I really hope that everyone’s okay. It really scares me to think that so many people are injured or worse, and that they don’t have a chance at life anymore. :(

Question. Why would they tell the passengers to stay in place?

Why not tell them to quickly and calmly get to the deck of the boat?

I mean, if you're stuck underneath on a boat which may be sinking, the last thing you should do is stay in place.

What makes this incident a complete outrage is that the captain and the crew (except one member who died) are ALL alive, and were among the first rescued. The kids, on the other hand...

I'm just hoping for a miracle, and I'm glad the broadcasters had the sense and humanity to focus on more pressing issues.

My heart goes out to the parents, friends and loved ones of the children and other passengers who are missing. This must be absolutely horrific for them, especially with the complete lack of certainty. Absolutely heartbreaking.

All those poor people. My heart absolutely goes out to them all and their families. It's maddening for me waiting to hear for some new news, I can't imagine what it must be like for everyone who has family or friends on board not accounted for yet.

I am so sad to hear this news. I thought of the ferry accident on Lake George. I also thought about the town that lost their high school football team to a tragic accident. The impact of this will go far beyond just the immediate family members. To lose so many young students is heart breaking.

I send lovingkindness thoughts to them all.

To the the Korean people who are suffering due to the uncertainty of unaccounted loved ones and to those who have lost, our sincerest prayers are with you. We are praying that more survivors be found and join their grieving families. To a country who have entertained us here in the States, the least we can do is hope and pray for you.

I saw the anguish n desperation on the faces of parents on tv last night.
A friend of mine lost her hi-school son to a sudden freak illness. She hasn't been the same since, and still talks about ending it all years later.
We can't even begin to imagine the pain of parents who have to lose a young one in such a way.
Be God help them and comfort their broken hearts!
