Quirky Park Hae-il, Shin Mina rom-com hits theaters next month
by awcoconuts
The first posters and trailer are out for the movie Gyeongju, an offbeat romantic comedy depicting Park Hae-il (Aging Family) and Shin Mina (Arang and the Magistrate) as two individuals who start to fall for each other. Park Hae-il travels to the city of Gyeongju, in search of something he had seen at a teahouse on a trip seven years prior. When he arrives at the tea shop, he begins picking at the wallpaper, telling Shin Mina, the current owner, “I think there used to be an obscene drawing here.”
She blinks at him, a bit dumbfounded, but somehow he lands an invitation to drinks later that night with her friends, and after a couple of hours getting to know each other, Shin Mina tells Park Hae-il candidly, “When I met you earlier today, I was convinced you were a pervert.” He neither denies nor is fazed by her comment, and something about his eccentric behavior draws her in, as he shyly asks to see her hand, and she, in her equally peculiar way, asks permission to touch his ear.
The movie is a slower-paced one, covering one night and two days, but the ability of the leads to inhabit these types of slightly wacky personas, as well as their onscreen chemistry, definitely piques my interest.
Gyeongju, directed by Jang Ryul (Dooman River) will be widely released in theaters this May.

Aww it sounds all weird and cute! Just up my alley. And Shin Mina looks as adorable as always :)
... Is it just me or does Park Hae-Il the spitting image of Ryu Seung-soo?? Maybe it's because I just saw RSS in Rm (where he was so unexpectedly awesome!) but suddenly I can't unsee him here.

You're so right. I saw him and the first thing I thought was 'hey, isn't that RSS?' They look so alike they could pass for brothers.

awww, I missed Shin Mina! I feel like she and Jeon Ji-hyun are two stars who used to get lumped in with far less talented actresses because of their looks and the CF Queen tag, but anyone who's seen their work will know that's not the case.
And I've loved Park Hae-il in whatever he's in, this definitely sounds interesting.

Needless to say, SMA's smile is totally radiant and PHI is a good co-lead for SMA to play against.
Rest of the cast is pretty talented as well.

I kind of always wanted to see them in a romance-ish movie together since the movie "A Million" because I thought they had a nice chemistry going between them in that movie when there was no romance involved Now I get to see it for reals...I hope...If someone posts the movie...and then subs this movie...actually the chances are looking smaller that I'll actually be able to see this one anytime soon... O well...Still looking forward to it. :)

Yeah Park Hae-Il is aweome, i think he is up there with the likes of Ha Jung Woo in the movie industry, his movies are mostly box office hits and any upcoming movies of his always causes a stir and anticipation from the movie goers,
this movie just reminds of one of his movies with Kang Hye Jung called 'Rules Of Dating', where he played a character of a teacher who is very quirky and naughty.

Park Hae-Il has always been up there with the likes of Ha Jung Woo as Korea's talented movie actors. It's just that dramaland does not know him because he has never done a drama in his whole career. I'd die and go to heaven if I get to see him do even a cameo appearance in a drama.

Just finished Arang and the Magistrate (thanks, Netflix!) and it totally cemented my love for Shin Min Ah. Can't wait to see her in more things (I've also watched My GF is a Gumiho). She's great!

An under-appreciated film that SMA did was "Madeleine" - which has an awesome soundtrack as the rival girl is in a rock band (music from Sugar Donut).
SMA was also very charming in the drama "Punch" (Joo Jin-mo) which is also one of her earliest works.
