Name That Drama: Junky cars and floorboards
by javabeans
As always, feel free to email us your questions and requests for future Name That Drama installments.
- Sephora only has one scene to go on, but it’s pretty specific:
Hello, I was wondering if you can help me with this drama. It’s a K-drama and all I can remember is lead guy talking to his mother, and then his phone rings, and on identification it says “boss.” His mother tells him to answer it quickly, but in fact it’s his girlfriend. His mother doesn’t like her so he lies to her. I know that this isn’t much but I hope that you can help me, this has been bugging me for some time now, I would like to watch this drama again.
- Lina’s drama:
I’m looking for a drama that was made probably from 2000-2009. The drama I’m looking for is very similar to the Korean drama Country Princess, but I remember slight differences. Like Country Princess, one day a pregnant woman comes knocking on a poor family’s door in the country, and the woman there is also pregnant and about to give labor. They both give birth to daughters. This is where this drama differs from Country Princess. I remember that the woman who knocked on the door started bleeding from her ankle after giving birth, passing away afterwards. Another difference is the two girls are switched while they are still infants. The family of the deceased woman comes to take the baby. The poor family actually gives the right baby away. The mother realizes that she could have given her own baby a better life, so she makes an excuse to go see the other baby at the other family’s house and switches the two. Help!
- Paps is looking for a drama or sitcom:
I have no idea when it came out, but it sure wasn’t recent. I think it was a sitcom, or a comedy at least. I just have this one scene stuck in my head: this guy borrows a car from his friend but it’s all messed up, like the passenger seat’s seat belt won’t come off when buckled, driver’s seat’s window won’t work, and there’s no AC, etc., so the guy and his friends have a hard time going somewhere. A guy also tagged along secretly, though the others didn’t know where he was until the end, when it turns out he was in the trunk. Thanks!
- And Indek’s drama sounds like a Poe story. Anybody know the show?
A friend of mine watched one episode of a drama and can’t remember what it was. All that she remembered was that an adult woman was buried under the floorboards of a house. Can anyone help?

I think the first one is Secret. If the parent for #1 was a father and not a mother, then May Queen is the one that came to mind.

I agree with yoeda. The only drama that came to mind is the Thai drama called Kaew Lorm Petch (Glass Encircles Diamond) which aired in 2008-2009 and Luerd Hong (Phoenix Blood) which is the older version that aired in 2001.

Hi Beanies,
My sister in law's dad is a big kdrama fan and he asked for my help in finding the name to Korean movie. I sadly have no idea what movie it is. I was hoping I can get some help from you. Thanks! Here are the deets he provided:
Amnesia issue throughout............girl wants this guy but he is in love with someone living afar.
So she hides all of the letters and cassette discs from this girl, and then sends something to the girl "deceased." Rotten, but the guy believes his girl is dead.
Guy sees the girl........etc etc etc.....................girl is engaged to his best friend.
Guy composes music, girl is a good singer.
At the end, the guy and the girl find out the truth and fall back in love.
At the end of the movie the girl is singing at her first concert, and the guy has promised to be in the front row.
Sadly the guy takes a bullet meant for his friend, and he is taken to the hospital where the doctors say that he is not going to survive, regardless of their efforts.
So he sneaks him out of the hospital, and in a wheelchair his friends get him to the concert front row.
The girl starts with the first song of her act, and the guy dies.............lots of tears.
The conclusion has the girl taking her son to this old house, rendezvous place for her dead lover.
The boy plays the guitar, playing his father's song. The boy, about 10, asks if he plays as well as his father. "No, not yet."
Movie ends
I hope someone has seen the movie and can help us both out. :)

I am 100% sure it's Sad Love Story/Sad Sonata....the details are a little off...the girl was blind and the girl is the one that thinks he's dead and there was no amnesia but the rest of the details are 100% from my all time favourite drama...and no wheelchair piggybacks him to the concert

I agree...i came to love Kwon Sang Woo and Kim Hee Sun from this drama....his pain brought tears to my eyes without him having to say a single word...and the OST is still stuck in my head...although sad it was a great drama...it was my first and the one that got me to like Kdramas so it holds a special place in my heart...

Yeah, that's Sad Love Story. Only it was a drama and not a movie. One of the first Kdramas I saw. Also the first one starring Kim Heesun. It IS really depressing but I really liked the beginning portion which focused on their teenage years. That was sweet.

This is kind of off topic but does anyone know where I can buy or download the Philippine version of My Girl with English subtitles. It stars Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson and was made in 2008. Thanks.

Can anyone help me out with this?
bit unrelated, since it's a jdrama.
there's a girl, I think she's a detective/policewoman and she wears a light brown trench coat and walks down some quiet corridor. She meets a slightly weird (if not a bit psychopathic) guy with dyed brown/golden hair who is confined in some glass room. She says smth to him and he laughs maniacally. I think she was interrogating him. If I'm not wrong there were guns involved in that drama. It's a few years back? It aired in Singapore then so if there are any Singaporeans, maybe y'all could help me? :)
much thanks!

Anyone agree with me that No.2 could be She Is Nineteen (aka My Sister-in-law is Nineteen)? I remember the daughter-switch but am not sure if they were babies when it happened.

I don't think it could be that drama because there was no baby or daughter switch. The drama started off with the main character being around four years old. She was put on a train by a couple of ahjummas to get rid of her because they wanted to keep her recently deceased mother's money. As an adult she couldn't remember her past and her identity was kept a secret by people claiming she, the real daughter, had died.

There is a kdrama I want to re-watch but I can't remember the name. Couple are forced together by their families so they fake a relationship before they eventually fall in love. The family gets them a one bedroom apartment. The women sleeps in the bedroom but the man sleeps in the living room unless the family catches them. I remember a couple cooking scenes in the kitchen, and I remember the girl comes home drunk and vomits so the guy has to clean her up. Very cliche plot, but I can picture the apartment in my head. Entry door upper right, kitchen upper left, bathroom between entry and kitchen, living room on the left, bedroom on the right. Thanks for your help!
