Eunjung’s screen comeback in My Boss, The Beginning

After riding out the bullying controversy from a couple of years ago, T-ara’s Eunjung (Queen Insoo, Dream High) has taken the leading female role in the upcoming My Boss, The Beginning. The movie is the fourth in the series of films (My Boss, My Hero; My Boss, My Teacher; The Mafia, The Salesman) following a gangster who is forced to undergo various life experiences (high school student, high school teacher, corporate drone) — all stints that will supposedly groom him into a more educated and well-rounded mob boss.

This marks Eunjung’s comeback to the silver screen after a three-year hiatus; her last leading movie role was in 2011’s horror flick White. Jung Jun-ho (Neighbor’s Wife, Queen of Reversals) will not be reprising his role in the first two movies as Gye Doo-shik, the undercover gangster lead. Makes sense, as the title hints that this flick will chronicle how Gye Doo-shik got his start in the underworld, and it’s been 13 years since the first movie premiered.

The lead in this fourth movie of the saga has been offered to Lee Jang-woo (Pretty Man, I Do, I Do), while Sohn Ho-joon (Full Sun, Answer Me 1994) is being courted to play the sidekick. Both men are still considering, and while we haven’t been given any information on the plot or Eunjung’s character, it’s safe to assume this fourth installment will also be a breezy gangster comedy.

My Boss, The Beginning starts shooting this summer.

They are both making a comeback after scandals - in her case T-ARA's bullying controversy and in his case, the abandoning his girlfriend to the wolves controversy.

The Answer Me 1994 guy is popular at the moment and got roped in, because he is in the same agency as T-ARA. Meaning no one else would touch this project and it's an image rehab attempt for all involved.

Lee Jang Woo was riding a wave of success and then fell off, because of a dating scandal that he and his representatives handled very poorly. He earned the reputation of a douchebag, when he could have manned up like Lee Seungi, Kim Woo Bin and others who carefully admitted they were dating. Yes, some silly fans will be miffed, but it is better than earning a bad reputation.

The T-ARA scandal is still raging and it seems the group might never recover from it. Wish them all good luck, but this drama will be panned by netizens even before the first stills are released.

I've just read up on the bullying scandal, and I must say that it does look very bad for T-ARA.

I really, really try not to judge stuff like this either way because the public never gets all the facts in cases like this, but, yeah. I can see how it would be hard to recover from something like this.

It was a snowball of hate at the time. Never can be too certain what happened behind the scenes, but best case scenario, the group as a whole handled the situation unprofessionally and Cube handled it... well terribly, as they are usually wont to do.

Bullying had been a hot topic at the time, and lightning in a bottle would have this issue blow up so large that years after the incident T-ARA is still releasing documentaries that feature them crying for a majority of it about how sorry they are and terrible their situation is for them.

I hope things do turn around for Eunjung. I'm on the side where I think T-ARA basically hung their dirty laundry in public and the public assumed the worst possible and destroyed them for it.

Also super cute for the We Got Married Reunion.

Hmmm... A few years ago, I was in theatre and got bullied really badly. We were young, there was a lot of pressure and we tend to be more dramatic and outspoken than usual when it comes to what we're passionate about.

Now I bond with the biggest bully out of them all on kdramas and beer. Although I still would not know how to handle it even if I went back in time, I realised a lot of things were blown out of proportion. And I understand where the friction came from. I will never work with her again, but I still love her as a friend who is passionate about the same things. And grew up in the same institution. Which is rare.

My point is, I sincerely hope that they heal from the things they couldn't handle well as teenagers and bond over the hard work they put into for the things they're passionate about. And be able to laugh over the biggest hurts in their life. Cus I'm sure T-ara was bullied by a lot more people after the whole incident.

It's just unfortunate that Jang Woo and Eun Jung got caught in something that was blown out of proportion.

While I don't doubt that some bad things did go down within the group and that Hwayoung was victimised by the others, the person who deserves the most blame in all this is their agency's CEO.

His terrible manner of running the group, setting the girls against each other, and then forcing the departed member to take the blame is the worst thing in this situation - because of his attitude post-scandal, all the members including the one who left, have suffered badly. It's a shame, because Hwayoung was a talented rapper (one of the few good female rappers in kpop) and Eunjung can be a really good actress, and this scandal may well have killed their careers.

This is a big "What if" but.... What if Tara's scandal and Lee Jung Woo's dating scandal didnt happen...would they have lasted longer in WGM? Couse they really had potential into becoming a real couple ? but then all hell broke loose with Tara having one less member and Jang Woo "not man enough to admit he's dating"... Both parties received negative feedback from the netzens who both either supported them or disliked them.. It was not a very good year for either of them but I thank everyone who decided to put them in the same film together !! I'm so excited to see them acting in one movie together!!! ♥♥♥♪✓♛♛♚♚ Anyways I will always support WOOJUNG COUPLE cuz they both looked too real for either of them to fake it??????

They looked so comfortable together on We Got Married as the show progressed. So much that it looked like they were a natural couple, no awkwardness after the first few sessions. Lots of people said they got too comfortable (touchy) too fast, if that's possible. I'm not a casual We Got Married viewer since i'm not all about the concept. But, they were totally worth watching for. They were the first couple i watched We Got Married for and probably the last.
If they re-teamed they would have great chemistry. I'll admit i had some shipper feelings.

Hopefully Lee Jang Woo will accept the role. I love the series and I hope that the fourth one will be great as well.
I always have a soft spot for Eun Jung and Jang Woo, they look good together and have great chemistry plus they are really good actor and actress. I hope they can work well together and entertain us as they did in We Got Married.

Haitai!!
I still have a hard time to adjust seeing Son Ho Joon outside AM1994. Glad he's been busy and more popular after it.

So Eunjung will reunite with former husband in WGM, Jangwoo. Interesting...

Jangwoo and Eunjung paired up for a rom-com?! Perfect!!
They can both act and be comfortable with each other given their WGM history (he was always trying to get into her pants and she was always laughing and fending him off. They were really sweet and funny together).

Eunjung...FINALLY back...working with Ho Joon too...CCM keeps making movies for their actors

Considering the scandal Jang Woo was involved with Yeon Soo'/Lee Joon's WGM I'm surprised he is getting back involved with his WGM partner Eunjung even though they were popular

If I remember correctly, Eunjung debuted as an actress (heard that somewhere so don't quote me on that). She acts well and has recently overcome quite a scandal so give her a chance too just as you would the others. She's finally getting a role after all this time and it'd be unkind the slap the meat out of her mouth.

Yes.

If i'm not mistaken most of these idol turn actress were debuted as child actor first..

Example

Eunjung of T-ARA
Oh Yeon Seo (can't remember her group)
So Hee of Wonder Girls
Sulli of FX

You're right. she was a child actress before she became an idol. She said that in one of her interviews.
Personally i like eun jung. She has natural screen presence and she has one of the most outgoing personalities. It's real easy to get comfortable quick with her.
I think she did better than the female lead in Dream High.
The only issue I think one might have with her acting is that some of her delivery sounds whiny, but that's also part of her personality in real life.

She began her career as a Child/Young Actress before debuting as a KPop Idol..
Therefore, she's capable and knowledgable on that field(Acting). :)
As i read this, they're tons of Fans who love to see Eunjung back in either in a Movie or TV..
But too bad, Fans who accepted their faults and understand them most are not from their native country but from the other Countries..
It's a shame that KNetizens makes the issue worst till the group will fall and bend down their heads..
But the good thing is, T-Ara is their still trying their best to get back on the track where their really belong to..

Agreed. Eun Jung is OK as an actress, but from what I have seen, nothing special. There must be tons of actual actresses out there that would like a job, but they keep using idols for the ratings draw.

Eunjung started as an actual actress since she started from 7-8 years old. But because of the scandal, She hasn't got an acting job since she got unfairly dismissed from FF which is more 2 years ago. Why can't she have this chance?

One thing is for sure, this is not for ratings draw.

Required fields are marked *

agree with you on the ratings because i'm sure they didn't cast her for the ratings draw, LJW and Eunjung both were caught up in scandals that has ruined their career, they are still pretty much hated by the public, i'm surprised the directors chose to cast them, i think this is like a test the water thing for both of them, we'll see how the people in Korea react to this movie, i don't think it will be a hit nonetheless because only the first two movies starring Jung Jun Ho was popular, i'm just surprised that they are planning to make another one because there is no difference between the previous movies, it's the same plot, same story and same ending, it was enough after one and two, when you start overdoing it it's going to turn out bad.

What's the problem, if she can act? She's better than some non-idol actresses in her own age group.

Idol casting is really only an issue when the ones who really suck keep taking up major roles in dramas despite lacking talent (like at least two of her Dream High castmates). Why hold it against some really talented actors that they got into it via the idol route? They're no less 'real' actors than non-idols, if they're competent.

Don't know how I feel about this. On one hand, I would love to see Eun Jung's comeback but on the other hand, why did the male lead has to be Lee Jang Woo? It's like the producers are intentionally trying to elicit hate from the unforgiving Korean netizens.

Eun Jung and Ho Joon would make a cute couple, though.

Honestly two of the people involved here give off such unlikeable auras...and this is even before their respective scandals..

My first impression of them-

Eunjung seems rather fake
while Jangwoo gives off such a jerk-ish vibe.

take note, this is even before I knew of their scandals..

(Btw, if anyone hasn't watched that jdrama yet, they should, it's hilarious!)
