Yoon Jin-yi cast as lead in We Are Brothers
by awcoconuts
In her big screen debut, Yoon Jin-yi (Mandate of Heaven) will take the lead in the upcoming movie We Are Brothers. The film, to be helmed by Jang Jin (High Heels, Quiz King), will be about two brothers who get separated at an orphanage in their youth. When they meet again as adults, they unite to search for their birth mother. The movie is being marketed as a ‘human comedy’ and will intermix Jang Jin’s trademark wit and humor with his observations on society.
Yoon Jin-yi will play a broadcast journalist, and when asked about the role, the actress said, “I respect Director Jang Jin so much, and it is an honor to work with such talented sunbaes.” She pledged to give her all to the character to help make a really great movie.
Yoon Jin-yi debuted in 2012’s A Gentleman’s Dignity as Im Meahri (and won the hearts of men-old-enough-to-be-her-father everywhere), continued her success as sassy So-baek in last year’s Mandate of Heaven and made a cameo as Binggeure’s feisty sunbae Die Die in Answer Me 1994.
Jo Jin-woong (Full Sun) and Kim Sung-kyun (Samcheonpo in Answer Me 1994, also in his first leading role) will play the two brothers. Shooting will begin later this month and the film is slated to be released in the latter half of this year.

Love her...I hope she gets a leading role in a drama soon...
She was the best thing in GD for me.
Time to check out Mandate of Heaven... I didn't know she was in it...
I missed her...

I really loved her in AGD as well. I thought she was very good, though I did feel sorry for her, because she had to cry in so many scenes. She had great chemistry with Kim Min-Jong. I remember when he (his character) finally hugged her at the airport, some of us were so happy.
I saw a few ep. of MoH and I liked what I saw of her. I hope that this movie will be another stepping stone for her. And I agree with sogazelle, I would love to see her as a lead in a drama. I think she could pull it off.

The "separated at birth" thing is a bit overdone in dramas, but looks like it is worth checking out at least. Have not seen much of Jin-yee, but what I did see I liked.

Great news as I really liked her in MoH. My memory fails for AGD to really recall the characters that well.

I saw her in both AGD and MOH and liked her as both characters. (Overall I prefer So-baek because Im Meahri cried too much for me--not against tears, but you already knew he was gonna say no right off the back so must you cry every. single. time?) But obviously the actress has a certain charm: making characters whose foibles that could reduce them to a mere aggravation ultimately endearing. GO HER! KNOCK 'EM DEAD! Also, YAY Kim Sung-kyun! I dunno about the other guy, Full Sun's in my queue to marathon when I have time. Otherwise, not so wild about the plot but maybe there will be a twist?

Jo Jin-woong was great as Moo-hyul, the King's bodyguard in "Tree With Deep Roots."
Both actors here can act.

She was an absolute hoot in Mandate of Heaven, in spite of having to do the entire series in a fright wig and Peter Pan costume.

Wasn't really fond if her in AGD (her crying scenes were unintentionally funny) but she was a hoot in Answer me 1994 so that gives me some hope
..I am however very fond of these two ahjussis, they steal the spotlight inany a show they're in..also the plot seems interesting

Answer Me 94 casts meet, yay! I loved Jin Yi in 'A Gentleman's Dignity', her love story with Kim Min Jong was the best. And Samcheonpo! Missed you! At first it sounded like the novel 'Sons of Fortune' by Jeffrey Archer. I'm looking forward to this.

So happy they are giving CP's actor a lead role even though he isn't considered ''handsome''
I say this because have lots of good supportive actors but they don't get lead because they aren't ''handsome, charming'' enough ( I disagree but looks does matter)
as for girls, it is harder

I love all of these actors! I've loved Joo Jin Woong ever since his bromance with King Sejong in Tree With Deep Roots and loved him even more in I Believe in Love (which was a rather enjoyable family drama) when he was paired up with Han Chae Ah of all people. They were SO cute. Love the rest of the other two as well and can't wait to see more of them in this movie!

Yoon Jin-yi is cute, nice smile. Other than her brief role in Answer me 1994, I haven't seen her in anything.
Joo Jin Woong is doing a good job as the shifty swindler in Full Sun.

Like her, too. I hope she doesn't do anything to her face. She reminds me of LDH in My Girl. So refreshing.

Aiiii! Why is it that 'Mandate of Heaven' has never been up on decent streaming website. All I ever got of it was smeared video and frequent jams in various places.

Jang Jin, Kim Sung-kyun, and Jo Jin-woong are all wonderful separately but together... I could only imagine that their awesomeness would increase exponentially! Can't wait for this!
