Hwang Jung-eum and Yeon Jung-hoon in talks to star in new drama

Good news: Yeon Jung-hoon is finalizing a deal to come back to dramaland this year. Bad news: it’s not for Vampire Prosecutor 3. WHY. Do we need to have a talk about priorities, huh? He’s reportedly in talks to headline a new weekend drama alongside Hwang Jung-eum, who’s coming off a high with last year’s hit melodrama Secret, which garnered her trophies, ratings, and buzz.
The new weekender for SBS, called Endless Love, is reportedly courting both actors with a favorable outlook. They’ll make a good pairing, so let’s hope there’s a decent story in there to make it worth their while.
The drama comes from the PD of Warrior Baek Dong-soo and the writer of East of Eden. While Eden did have a boatload of production woes, I can see why Yeon Jung-hoon might be loyal to the writer, since he did play the most interesting character in that drama. I can’t say that East of Eden didn’t drive me nuts, but I did watch it like an addict, so that’s something.
Endless Love will be a period drama as well, though this show will stick to a narrower timeline in the 1980s. All we know so far is that it’s about the lead characters’ work and love lives, set in 1980. That’s…it? I’m pretty sure it’s safe to expect a melodrama, so that’s something. Casting reports are careful to say they’re still negotiating with both actors’ camps, but there’s still lots of time since the show will follow Angel Eyes; that puts the premiere sometime in June.

Haha, Yeon Jung Hoon's last reunion with someone from East from Eden was his (double) romance with Han Ji Hye in I Summon You Gold. We all know how that turned out!
I actually found his character in East of Eden interesting until he found out about the swap. After that, there was just so much deception... Till the ending when it changed into pure rage as I threw my computer out of the window.

I liked YJH in East of Eden. Until he found out about the swap. After that, not so much, In fact I was really hating him by the end. And that ending! All these years later and I'm still bitter! :)

I am bitter too. If your computer went out the window, it would have just been following logic, who went out first. Character motivation was incomprehensible.

I like the cast but the storyline is not that interesting, yet, maybe it will prove me wrong like Secret. Period dramas seem to be the current trend, what's up with dramaland being so nostalgic lately?

HJE is my golden girl after Secret. On the other hand, the shittiest weekend drama of the century with twins made me cautious about a highly domesticated and tamed vampire with an earring.

What do we have to do for him to do VP3? Will they even do it? ARGH! WHY? *sigh* This is so frustrating and aggravating!
On the other hand, I like both actors. On the OTHER hand, the show doesn't sound interesting. Hope we get more info!

Never watched any of Hwang Jung Eum's dramas until Secret, and her amazing acting there has made me a fan. I can't imagine Kang Yoo Jung being played by any other actress, to be honest (not that I've watched many K-dramas, quite the reverse).
Wishing her all the best for Endless Love, that is, if she picks up the project.

Since 90%+ of weekend dramas go sour before their end, I can only hope this one will be the rare exception.
I was just thinking about how weekend dramas go bad yesterday after reading the weekend posts from Soompi (SPOILERS!) regarding current weekend dramas Passionate Love (never really that good to begin with, but utterly without passion in the end; not to mention having the stupidest heroine ever written), The Woman Who Married Three Times (Now, the child-abuser, selfish wife of the heroine's first ex is supposedly going to be a good character because we find out her dad abused her, and the first ex is trying to give her "understanding"? And the heroine is going to go back to her abusive, cheater second husband?), and Golden Rainbow (really hope this one will pull out a decent ending but I have my doubts now).

After The Best LSS and Wang's Family, I've figured out a way to watch weekend dramas w/o getting burnt:
Watch 1 ep in 4. You don't miss a thing plot wise, but can spare yourself the agony of watching them drag everything out.
I'm watching Wonderful Season that way, and it's working out fine. ;-)

Is VP3 never happening?....
Are they really gonna leave the story on an ending like that!?!?!!? If I don't know what happened to my girl Jung In I'm gonna scream, omg. Tae Yoon needs to find her and then they both have to confess their underlying love ok, I don't care.
But anyway, I like these two and I hope the drama is good. The 80's huh? Wardrobe should be interesting...

Ugh, I'm torn. So far Hwang Jung-eum always pick a good drama, and I loveeee Yeon Jung Hoon. (Lucky Han Ga-in)
But I never connect with East of Eden writer and I doubt this time too, especially with long episode in weekend drama.
Instead with this one, I really hope there'll news about VP3 production.

I like both HJE and YJH. I also think they should make a good couple in this drama.
BUT what makes me curious is the 80's in Korea. It's my favourite decade when it comes to music (New Romantic anybody?) and it was an intense period of history, both in Korea and in Europe (at least in my part of the continent ;)) ). I find the changes in society of that time fascinating. If the drama manages to give us the feeling of the 80's I will be very happy, and if it even shows some history I will be simply delighted. Miss Korea was able to do it for the 90's, so my hopes are high.
Oh, I am also curious how the fashion of the 80's will be tackled. I guess they might just borrow some LMH sweaters from Heirs :). And give the girls some really hardcore perms. I don't mind, but...

i'm a little bit off-topic, but it's about a weekend drama though...so what happened to Passionate love? Did it end last weekend? there weren't 50 episodes, so it ended earlier? on the other hand, there's no new drama on that slot...could someone tell me what's happened, pretty please?

Wasn't Hwang Jung Eum briefly in East of Eden? I think she was suppose to play Yeon Jung Hoon's love interest but all of a sudden disappeared she from the drama after like two episodes. Oy, I still can't believe I watched all 56 episodes of that drama.

I WANT VP3 NOT THIS!!! Do you will make it pending a year again?! But let's looking for it. I actually don't like period drama. I not watch I Summon You Gold, Jejungwon, and dissapointed with East of Eden. Wish it not melo-romance style, I promise I will tried to watch.

There's a brief synopsis at Daum drama page. Though brief but it's quite informative:
"A drama about Korean politics and financial situation in the 1980s through the life of a woman."
Looking at this I kinda understand why HJE's looking at it favorably. This will likely be female-oriented plot drama, focused the story more on female lead. This will be a gold mine for awards recognitions again for her if it's done well.

Okay because there ppl who asks about VP3, I'll also ask:
Where's and when's Lee Sun Kyun-Hwang Jung Eum's "Golden Time 2" ? Seriously, it's been almost 2 years since the 1st one ended. Please don't let it be canceled, you can't do that to audiences. The ratings were no.1 when it was aired so hopefully MBC still planning to go on. Everyone's stories and relationships still hang on unresolved there, plz give me my Min Woo x Jae In.

Sighs. I mean it's good that Yeon Jung Hoon's gonna have new projects and all, but I NEED MY VAMPIRE PROSECUTOR 3 sobsssssss. It's really sad that there has been virtually no news about it. I want to see Vampire Prosecutor Min Tae Yeon back with his team!!!! And what happened to Jung In too. If they were not planning to have VP 3, then why did they end like that in VP 2......... :(
Oh wells. I will just be hoping and waiting for the day VP 3 arrives. (And for TEN 3 as well.)
