God’s Gift – 14 Days: Episode 6
by dramallama
Doubts are confirmed, and we get a whole lot of answers this time around. And just when you think it can’t get any worse, you’re proven wrong. It’s creepier, scarier, and more confusing than ever, but all of it makes the show so right and so worth watching. Unless you’re watching this before you go to sleep, in which case, beware: you will get the full impact of fear.
EPISODE 6 RECAP
The show doesn’t skip a beat, and we jump right to where we left off: our killer makes a run for it with Dong-chan on his tail. But out of nowhere, a motorcycle joins the chase – the rider, a bat in hand.
He whacks our killer on the head as he passes, but the rider is stopped by Detective Ho-kook, who shoots at the motorcycle. The motorcycle skids off the road, and our rider is run over by a passing car.
Dong-chan runs over to our dying killer Cha Bong-seob and demands answers from him. Why did he have a picture of his mother? Was she his next target? He struggles to get his words out and only manages to say that he was going to confess everything to Soo-hyun.
Ho-kook walks over in shock, and we see the result of the accident: not one but two deaths. Dong-chan calls Soo-hyun to tell her about our dead killer, and the countdown continues. Eleven days until the incident.
The police come to investigate, and Dong-chan recognizes the motorcycle rider as he is transferred into the ambulance. He came into the police station earlier, as a relative of one of the murder victims.
Soo-hyun is back in a state of hysteria, packing Saet-byul’s clothes to leave again. Ji-hoon tells her to stop with all this nonsense, but she takes out the mystery café photo. The killer is dead, but Saet-byul is still missing from the photo. She thought it was over, but the photo suggests otherwise.
Saet-byul is freaked out by Mom’s behavior, so Ji-hoon takes her away and tells Soo-hyun to calm down. She falls down in tears and ends up falling asleep in Saet-byul’s room.
When she wakes up, she goes downstairs and sees Ji-hoon sitting on the couch, head hanging. She asks if Saet-byul is asleep, and Ji-hoon tells her to get it together: Saet-byul is dead. Shocked, Soo-hyun rushes to Saet-byul’s room and finds her funeral portrait. It dawns on her that this could all have been a dream.
Soo-hyun wakes up in a cold sweat with Saet-byul asking if she had a nightmare. Soo-hyun embraces her tightly, relieved that it was all a dream. Phew.
Dong-chan is interrogated by Woo-jin, who asks him why he was there when the killer died. He pulls out the picture of his mother with Young-gyu that he found at the killer’s place, stating that he needed some answers. Woo-jin responds with more pictures: one of the baby in the third victim Mimi’s apartment and one of Young-gyu as a child. Dong-chan connects the dots – Mimi was Young-gyu’s birth mother.
Woo-jin proceeds to tell Dong-chan that all three of the victims are women who abandoned their children. Our killer was abandoned by his own mother and went on a personal vendetta to get revenge for other abandoned children. Working as a teacher at a welfare foundation (where Young-gyu attends school), he was able to access background information on these orphans.
Dong-chan asks why the killer would target Young-gyu’s birth mother, and Woo-jin assumes Young-gyu must have shown our killer some animosity towards his mother. Dong-chan refutes this, knowing that Young-gyu only mentions his father.
Back in his car, Dong-chan remembers when Mimi gave him the red knitted sweater and looks at it with a tinge of sadness and regret.
At breakfast, Young-gyu is immersed in playing with his special ddak-ji from Saet-byul while Grandma tries to feed him. While playing, he spills hot soup on himself, but the first thing he worries about is his ddak-ji. Grandma hangs it up to dry, and then we see that handwritten at the top of the page (which originally comes from one of Ji-hoon’s legal case files) is a note about his father’s case: “Moojin serial killer case, point of doubt: first suspect Ki Dong-ho that day…”
Dong-chan watches from afar as Young-gyu walks Grandma out for another day of work. Once she leaves, Dong-chan greets Young-gyu and gives him the red knitted sweater. As he puts it on, Dong-chan asks if he remembers his birth mother, to which Young-gyu replies with questions about his father’s whereabouts.
Dong-chan tells him that his mother was a good person who loved and missed him very much and never forgot about him. He tells Young-gyu that he has Grandma and his uncle. And of course, Young-gyu adds that he has Dad.
On that note, Dong-chan tells his nephew to never forgive him. Of course, Young-gyu doesn’t understand this and comments on how warm the sweater is while his uncle tears up in guilt.
Dong-chan returns home to find who else but Grandpa Byung-ho. He asks about the money deal and tells Grandpa that he just needs enough surgery money for someone he knows. He says that there’s a famous surgeon in the U.S. who charges lots of money but can guarantee drastic improvement.
Grandpa shows skepticism towards this information and says that damaged brain cells cannot be recovered. Dong-chan suspiciously asks how he knew about damaged brain cells – he never mentioned it. Grandpa just smacks him on the head, claiming that Dong-chan did mention it. Ohhh, so he does know more than he lets on…
Dong-chan gets a call from Soo-hyun, who asks to meet with him. On their way over to meet Dong-chan, Soo-hyun and Saet-byul try to get Young-gyu’s camera fixed. Soo-hyun offers to buy a new one, but Saet-byul refuses because it belonged to Young-gyu’s father.
While Saet-byul plays with Byung-tae and Jenny, Soo-hyun shows Dong-chan the unsettling photo from the mystery café. Soo-hyun is still worried about the missing Saet-byul in the photo, but Dong-chan reassures her with the facts: the killer is dead, so Saet-byul can’t be taken by him. If only there was proof that our killer was Saet-byul’s kidnapper…
Soo-hyun isn’t convinced, so she seeks out more information from Woo-jin this time. She asks him if he knows what the killer wanted to tell her, but he has no idea. He assumes he was moved by her devotion to saving her daughter (considering his motives), which has Soo-hyun wondering why he would have kidnapped and killed Saet-byul.
Woo-jin then shows her a boarding pass with our killer Cha Bong-seob’s name on it. He planned on escaping to the Philippines after killing Mimi, suggesting that he couldn’t have been the one to take Saet-byul.
More doubtful than ever, Soo-hyun wonders why Cha Bong-seob would be Saet-byul’s killer. She drives past an accident on the road, which suddenly triggers a memory and realization that he wasn’t Saet-byul’s kidnapper after all.
She recalls the day of the big traffic jam, when Saet-byul ran out of the car to see what happened in the accident. She shielded Saet-byul from seeing the dead man, but now she remembers that the dead man was our killer, Cha Bong-seob.
She sits down with Dong-chan to go over the details of that day, convinced that their wanted man is still out there. The caller on Soo-hyun’s investigative program knew that the second victim was stabbed fourteen times, which leads them to the conclusion that there was an accomplice to the crimes.
Leaving Soo-hyun to look after her daughter, Dong-chan waits for Woo-jin at the police station and tells him to reinvestigate the case. He tells Woo-jin that his police instincts tell him that there is an accomplice.
Woo-jin asks him why he’s so devoted to this case, and the air gets tense. Staring fiercely at Woo-jin, Dong-chan says he’s just a citizen fighting for justice. Woo-jin recognizes that look from Dong-chan’s officer days when he chased his targets like a mad dog. He asks Woo-jin if he sees another look in his eyes, one that reflects the blood of a killer running through his veins. Woah, there is clearly some bad blood between these two.
The tension is interrupted by the news that Ho-kook (the one who shot at the motorcycle) is turning in his badge. Dong-chan takes him out for a drink, and Ho-kook is visibly wrought with guilt. Dong-chan tells him that he’s going to have to overcome the guilt, and reminds him that he shot at his own nephew and made him disabled.
Dong-chan tries to help out Ho-kook and calls the local police station near the site of the accident. He asks for information on the person who reported the accident, but there was no call.
Dong-chan clearly remembers telling a witness to call and report the accident, but if there was no call, it means that guy was the accomplice.
Dong-chan, Soo-hyun, and Ho-kook check traffic cameras for any usable shot of the truck driver, and Soo-hyun identifies a small detail. She recognizes the tattoo on the driver’s wrist as one of Saet-byul’s drawings from the shed where she was held before she died.
Soo-hyun wakes Saet-byul to ask if she recognizes the tattoo, but of course she’s never seen it before (or yet). So Byung-tae is off to work on finding the complete image, but he fails to find any. Dejected, Soo-hyun goes back home with Saet-byul.
Dong-chan is called back by Ho-kook, who shows him the recovered black box video file from the motorcycle. The video shows that the motorcycle began to slow down and shake before the gunshot, proving that Ho-kook is not to blame.
When they arrive home, there’s a big scene among the neighbors and our resident security guard tells Soo-hyun that Yong-gyu’s grandma (who babysits for the neighbors) was so adamant about not letting a stranger into the house that she called the police on a man, who turned out to be the child’s uncle. Young-gyu jumps in to defend Grandma, but she’s still fired.
As Young-gyu and Grandma walk home, she notices his new red sweater and asks where he got it. He beams and tells her Uncle Dong-chan gave it to him. He says he likes Uncle Dong-chan, but after Dad and Grandma of course. Aw.
Back at the police station, Dong-chan proudly watches Ho-kook get his badge and gun back. Turns out, they used to be partners back in the day, and Woo-jin thanks him for helping Ho-kook return. Dong-chan says that partners always have each other’s backs – although there was one person he knew who didn’t follow that rule.
Woo-jin follows Dong-chan out and asks when he’ll stop hating him. Dong-chan says he’s taking this grudge to the grave, and when Woo-jin tells him to stop living in the past, he whips around and punches him hard in the face.
Now we finally get a flashback for the truth. The armed man holding young Young-gyu hostage was the father of the girl Dong-ho was accused of killing, and the police force arrives with both Dong-chan and Woo-jin in the squad. At the scene, Woo-jin orders Dong-chan to stay out, but he defies orders and pulls the trigger, shooting young Young-gyu in the process.
Both men are later called to a police hearing, where Dong-chan says he used his best judgment in that situation, and only fired because he saw an opportunity when the gunman was distracted. When Woo-jin is called up, he testifies against Dong-chan, claiming that he defied orders and put their operation in jeopardy. Dong-chan looks at him with disbelief and proceeds to give up his badge before walking out.
Back in present time, Dong-chan furiously yells at Woo-jin that he worked like crazy as an officer to prove that murder didn’t run in his blood, but Woo-jin ruined all of that for him.
Woo-jin tells Dong-chan to ask himself if that’s really true and tells him that he did his best in that situation as well. To that, Dong-chan spits on the ground, stuffs some bills into Woo-jin’s pocket, and walks out.
Ho-kook tries to stop Dong-chan from leaving, but he’s then stopped by a lady who accuses him of killing the motorcycle guy. Dong-chan sticks around to help him explain and picks up on the fact that the motorcycle had been tuned recently, meaning the cause of his death shouldn’t be motorcycle malfunction.
When the lady drops her video game case as they talk, he finds another clue to their missing accomplice: the tattoo design, which symbolizes revenge and death. Dong-chan calls Soo-hyun to ask if she can think of anyone who would want revenge on her. But since she works for an investigative program, she says there’s probably a truckload of people who would want revenge.
Dong-chan is out to investigate the details of the motorcycle tune-up and takes note of a helmet marked M.S. in the motorcycle club picture on the wall.
Soo-hyun is hunting down clues of her own as she finds an email on her husband’s computer about a case 10 years ago: “You’re the one who made the wrong man into a murderer.” She gives a copy of the email to Dong-chan for further investigation and asks him to look into her husband’s past murder cases from that time.
The news of the motorcyclist, Han Ki-tae, seems to have reached the president, who asks his cabinet if there were any shady deals going on with the police. The officials imply that there was some talk, and the president walks out furiously, stating that the people are not dumb.
The officials suggest that they approve the capital punishment request to appease the people, to which the minister of justice chastises them for taking a human life so lightly. But the president seems to be on the same page, and requests a meeting on the topic… Uh-oh.
Dong-chan meets with the motorcyclist’s friend for information and puts together more pieces of the accomplice’s intricate plan. The accomplice set up Cha Bong-seob’s escape and hired motorcyclist Ki-tae to kill him, fearing that Cha Bong-seob would reveal his identity. Then, he set up Ki-tae to be killed to cover up all his tracks, and in the end, it would seem as if Ki-tae acted purely out of revenge. Wow, I cannot believe he put that all together.
Indebted Ho-kook provides Dong-chan with documents on Ji-hoon’s cases from ten years ago, and Dong-ho’s case is one of them. That’s where Dong-chan recognizes Ji-hoon from – he was the prosecutor examining him in court. Before handing over the documents to Soo-hyun, Dong-chan makes sure to take out his brother’s case.
Looking over the cases, Soo-hyun recognizes the residence of one man, who owns a stationary shop right across from Saet-byul’s school. She also realizes that she saw him at the broadcast station (the man in the hat carrying boxes into the elevator) the day Saet-byul was kidnapped.
Dong-chan and Soo-hyun stake out the suspect’s shop, but they both stop each other from entering: he knows both their faces. So in enters Jenny to casually shop for her nephew’s birthday gift.
She tries to get the suspect to reveal his tattoo, and even spills hot coffee on his arm, but he aggressively stops her from lifting up his sleeve. He is totally the accomplice.
Dong-chan and Soo-hyun’s next step is to find the victims’ personal belongings in his house, and Dong-chan mentions that killers enjoy placing their “trophies” somewhere in public. Creepy.
At home, Soo-hyun sits next to sleeping Saet-byul and asks Ji-hoon if he’s been getting any threats recently. He brushes the question off, saying that threats are a commonplace part of his job.
Soo-hyun gets a text from Dong-chan saying they’re ready to go, and as she walks out, she knocks over her jewelry box. She notices the jewelry pieces in the plastic bags are missing and asks Ji-hoon if he’s seen them. He denies any knowledge of the jewelry, but we know he was suspiciously eyeing them before.
Before she leaves, Soo-hyun asks the housekeeper if she moved the jewelry, but she doesn’t know anything about it either. She also mentions that she’ll be out for a while since her daughter’s giving birth any day now. She asked Yong-gyu’s grandma to work a couple days for her, and Soo-hyun agrees to it.
Back to business; Jenny pounds on the door and asks our suspect if she can exchange her nephew’s present. Then suddenly, the suspect’s store truck alarm goes off outside, cuing Soo-hyun and Dong-chan to enter the store while Jenny follows the suspect out to his car.
Soo-hyun is reckless as always and heads straight for the suspect’s home. Dong-chan investigates inside the store and discovers a helmet in the candy basket with the initials M.S. – the same helmet in the picture at the motorcycle shop.
He suddenly gets a call from Jenny, warning him that the suspect is headed back; he really didn’t care too much about the damaged car. Dong-chan stays hidden in the store, but the suspect is headed straight for his house, where Soo-hyun is.
Soo-hyun cautiously looks through the suspect’s drawers and finds a donation receipt from the welfare foundation where Cha Bong-seob worked. She puts it in her pocket and continues to search when suddenly, the cuckoo bird on the clock starts to chirp. False alarm, but my heart still skipped a beat.
Soo-hyun thinks back to Dong-chan’s observation that killers like to display their trophies somewhere public and looks back up at the cuckoo clock. She climbs on a chair and opens the clock, and finds Saet-byul’s watch inside it just as we reach the last seconds of Day Eleven.
Ten days before the incident. Soo-hyun hears the suspect entering and slips into his room just in time to avoid being seen. It’s too soon to call it safe though, because she fumbles and drops her phone, which catches the suspect’s attention. OH NO.
Before she can start freaking out about being caught, Soo-hyun notices the wall in front of her covered in photos – hundreds of photos, all of Saet-byul. Along the other wall, she sees ropes, tape, and bottles of chemicals. He’s the one: Saet-byul’s kidnapper.
As if this couldn’t get any more terrifying, the door behind Soo-hyun creaks open, and she glances back, petrified in fear.
COMMENTS
Chills, goosebumps, shivers, everything! I think that last scene gave me some intense chills because of how casual and simple it was. The door just creaks open with our suspect behind it with no dramatic music or close-ups. The scene happens, and it ends. Ack! How am I supposed to sleep and wait until next week?!
Dong-chan was the main focus of this episode, and I’m glad we’ve finally shed some light on our most complex character. His guilt, drive, and cynicism are explained pretty well with his background story, and we see the reasons for his strained relationships. And oh man, the intensity in his eyes, especially in his scenes with Woo-jin. I could feel the hatred and guilt. While I do understand him more, Dong-chan is still interesting and flawed – enough so that he still remains somewhat of a mystery. That’s what makes him so intriguing, and I really can’t seem to get enough of him.
Also, how is he able to balance his character with humor? Considering how heavy and intricate this drama is, I can barely see any room for laughs, but somehow Dong-chan does it. I can’t tell if it’s just intense mood swings or just the awesomeness of his character, but I think I’ll just go with the latter.
Small note on Ji-hoon, who is getting shadier by the episode. I wonder at what point I will lose all faith in him. I know he loves Saet-byul and wouldn’t let anything bad happen, but his ideals sometimes seem to sway him too much. I’m watching out for him.
And the plot twists, oh the plot twists. The drama just never seems to run out of them. They’re so ingeniously executed and timed. The foreshadowing is there, especially if you look back at the first episode, but they’re so detailed that you’re unsure of how, when, and where that hint will kick in. It’s intelligent, and I appreciate it so very much.
Like many of you expected, there are two killers, and I think that transition was done quite well. Clues were sprinkled here and there, but it did take Dong-chan putting the clues together for me to understand the whole connection. It’s convoluted, but necessarily so, because we know that our killers are smart, and now it seems that our surviving accomplice is smarter. Oh dear.
I’m not too sure how I feel about Soo-hyun’s reckless audacity – part of me questions it while another part of me totally admires it. Knowing her smart investigative background, I would think Soo-hyun would use more logic in these situations, but we’ve seen since the beginning that when it comes to her daughter, Soo-hyun is willing to risk everything. She’s so forward about saving her daughter that it scares me how many more lives she has left – she’s already gone through a couple. But I think it’s that devotion that wins me over. She knows what she’s going into and jumps into it, without any intention of turning back.

Very similar in many ways - the clues and not-clues, suspense, all very similar though a much different overall plot.

Well I'm pretty sure the whole point of her role is to look pretty so in that case she's perfect. If she's supposed to be acting, well that's a different story.

Okay. Nothing special or outstanding. Her role is not demanding of varied emotions so it is okay. She did well in the scene where she entered the shop was engaging the supposed killer. She got some screen time there. Maybe in coming episodes or in her next project we'll get to see her varied acting.

Personally, for the little scenes she has, and the small character she plays, she's been doing pretty well. This is her first drama, right? It's a very small part, but she brings what the character calls for.

Because he was revealed to early right?!
I don't have the feeling yet but for me it feels to early to reveal the character so something is off. We might get a loooooong chasing and kidnapping part.

i also have the same feeling just because it's too early to reveal the kidnapper but i wouldn't mind if he was one, it will be something new as in the kidnapper is revealed early but the hero and heroine couldn't stop him until the last moment because he is very smart, if i think with a logical mind he could be the kidnapper because it wasn't proven that the real kidnapper actually killed Saet Byul, he just kidnapped her but she escaped and accidentally drowned herself isn't it?, the store owner has a high probability of being the kidnapper Soo Hyun and Dong Chan are looking for, he was seen in the broadcasting office by Soo Hyun the day Saet Byul was kidnapped and the photos he has collected of Saet Byul tells a lot too, why would you collect some child's photo and paste it all over the room? it indeed tells me that he was planning to do something with the child, plus he has legit motive, revenge against Ji Hoon who helped to prove his father guilty of the crime, the store owner believed his father was innocent, now that i think of it, the watch of Saet Byul that Soo Hyun found in the store owner's room clock might have been used by him as bait to lure Saet Byul, he might have said, 'Oh, Saet Byul, I want to return your watch which you dropped in the store a few days ago or something like that...well that's my theory, anyway loving the drama and falling hard for our lovable Ki Dong Chan...

No I really don't but I do know that it happened most likely because of something he did. And him covering up what he did is causing problems. But he loves his daughter clearly and has shown no mental issues or unhinged tendencies that would lead to him wanting his daughter dead. I still don't understand how anyone is coming to that conclusion. He's very sketchy indeed but that doesn't make someone a killer.
And that brings me to this point: He had a point with the "witch" story/metaphor. Innocent until proven guilty: I think he takes it to an extreme that's idealic, bordering on dangerous, but he has a point about people jumping to conclusions based on what little they see without bothering to look at anything else. They assume they're right and carry out justice as they see fit without looking deeper and it causes problems. The show is trying to say something about that, i.e. Soo-hyun almost killed the Gangnam killer and made herself a murder to save Saet-byul and later finds out he wasn't the kidnapper at all. Jumping to conclusions.
In that case he was still a killer and messed up but what happens when the subject of their ire isn't actually guilty?. What happens when people are punished for things they haven't done because people didn't bother to look deeper (like we suspect Dong-ho's situation is right now)?
Super long response I know, sorry. But it's food for thought I think.

totally agree with your comments, i also don't understand why people are suspecting ji hoon of kidnapping his own child, it looks like they really want him to be a bad guy, he might have a dark past but that doesn't necessarily mean he had an affair with someone or killed someone etc, it might be that he prosecuted someone but later found out he was wrong about his judgements and the guy he prosecuted was innocent after all, he might be guilt stricken because of that just like Dong Chan whose dark past is accidentally shooting his nephew, even after they disclosed the reasons for Dong Chan claiming he had seen Ji Hoon before and it turned out that he was just incharge of the prosecution for his brother's case, people are still suspecting Ji Hoon using some stupid theories, it also might be the people here like the chemistry between Dong Chan and Soo Hyun which i am a part of, and they want Soo Hyun to have a reason to dump her husband so that she can be together with Dong Chan...

- Part of me wonders if Saet Byul took the jewelry.
- If the killer is targeting Saet Byul because of Ji Hoon, I will be SO angry. Not at the show (it's a good motivation) but just...argh! Why do people do this? It's not like Ji Hoon's the type to falsely indict someone, at least as far as we can tell. So maybe he prosecuted someone and they were innocent but sorry dude, that happens a whole freaking lot. Doesn't mean Ji Hoon's a bad person for believing the wrong truth. And it sure as hell doesn't justify you going after his kid.
- Now that I'm done rambling, I've got to wonder: Ji Hoon clearly recognized something in episode 2 that made him assume some person he knew was directly responsible. I don't think he'd remember a ten-year old case, so I'm wondering if this is a red herring (unless Snake is somehow involved. he would recognize him because of Saet Byul)
- I don't know why I'm so weirdly invested in Ji Hoon. I think it's because he's so firm in his convictions and there's nothing I like more that a character who has to bend their morals for the greater good (greater good being his family).

I don't care for Ji Hoon - I think there is something shady about him, maybe more than one thing. Still no clue on what the pictures were that he got in ep2, but it sure seemed to set him off.

I'm with you there. He's probably done something that in part causes all of this, (not to mention that people from half of his prior cases seem to be indirectly involved,) but that doesn't make him "evil" like half the people are thinking here. Everyone in this show is "shady"-- heck, even Soo-hyun has done some shady things if you look from an outside perspective!

the accomplice didn't want cha bong-seob to ever "out" him, so he hired the motorcyclist to kill him, likely promising him a lot of money in exchange.
but he also messed with the motorcycle so that it would malfunction and kill its rider, so then cha's death would look like it was done out of revenge.

I find it laughable for them to jump into conclusion about the motive of the kidnapper purely based on a tattoo. Some people do get a tattoo as a reminder/marker of a significant events, but a lot of the time people get a tattoo simply because they like the design. Especially for a tattoo design originated from a video games, it would not be unusual for a fan to have it tattooed on.
Also, when you break in someone's place and realize that the house owner is back, you try your best to hide in the least noticeable corner, not to take your time looking around with a bright light in your hand.

if you're talking about the tattoo's only some people as in minority do it because it's fun or they like the design, almost all the people i'v met with tattoo on them have reasons and most of the tattoo's tells stories about that person, i also do watch a lot of crime documentaries and prison documentaries and all of the murderers and criminals they show there give solid reasons for every tattoo they have on their bodies, some of them did have tattoo's signifying revenge or death or murder, this tattoo in the drama signifies revenge and death which the said person might have tattooed himself with that in mind...it doesn't hurt to investigate the person just in case, if it were the police they would have done the same thing...i do agree with you on your second comment, it was stupid of her to do something like that, it's common sense...

Soo-hyun is indeed reckless and I find myself yelling at her sometimes that she's going to get herself killed. She only has so many lives. But the writer is good at creating a female character that, y'know, acts like a human being. She's not perfect but her actions make sense and I find myself rooting for her because she's a good person trying her damndest to save her daughter. She's frantic because she has a single goal of "save Saet-byul" and jumps straight into doing what she needs to to save her.

Also Woo-jin is even more on my radar now taht we've seen what happened because I really don't know how he knew when he did about the killer getting killed last episode. Who would've told him? Ho-Gook was in shock basically and definitely didn't call him. I still suspect there's someone inside the force who's collaborating, that's the only reason the accomplice would know that they were on the way to Soo-hyun right?
Unless that was just an editing mistake/ subbing error and I'm over-analyzing. Because I really can't think of a reason he would be the insider. No one is safe from suspicion but if I can't come up with a motive I'm reluctant to pin someone as a major suspect. Even if it isn't him I think someone is on the inside and this is all linking to some kind of larger conspiracy as some other people have been suspecting.

Exactly! There's a web of lies and deceit here that's part of a conspiracy, we know that, but we just don't know how far it reaches out or who's really involved. The beauty of this show is that everything isn't extremely obvious but it's also not so cryptic and hidden that we have no idea what's going on until the show reveals itself all at once. So we can speculate and theorize and hope our logic is sound without being frustrated and grasping at straws. I feel like an investigator :)

am thinking it's a case of a cover-up. The defense lawyer/hubby allowed some guilty person to get away with murder and someone in political/police/broadcasting power is aware of it. Still, it's odd that the murderer of the women AND the kidnaper/probable murderer of Saet Byul AND the mentally-disabled inmate brother should all know something about this conspiracy. But am totally on the conspiracy train nevertheless.

Can someone clarify this for me? Jihoon was a prosecutor back when Dongchan had to testify, but he's a human-rights lawyer now? I thought prosecutors are generally the people who want to toughen up against crime and make laws stricter and everything, and that usually includes supporting the death penalty... but Jihoon argues against it?
I don't know... I'm still trying to wrap my head around the facts we've been given, the facts we think we've been given, and the possible hints we're being given... O.O I feel so confused.

The creepy wall of pictures seem so sketchy tho. Someone help me clarify this. The pictures are angled in front of the girls. When they were in front of the store? If that guy was in the store and running it... How could he have taken the pics from that angle? So My point is... There is another "accomplice"...
I'm having doubts that the little girl is actually not dead. Something tells me it's not her. But the little girl with the puppy. PLoT TWIST. See, I got a few sexual tension vibes, but not couply vibes from DC and SH. Not really. I see it as two comrades caring for each other who happen to have sexual tension. But since dramas thrive on that, maybe we'll see romance. I hope not. I like their relationship as is.

Dramallama - you're a strong recapper!!!! I really like your style and your way of looking at things. I really appreciate Dong-chan. He's one of my favorite dramaland characters as of right now. He's so full of AWESOME because he is flawed in the best way a fictional character can be: sordid past, twisted present, golden heart.
Ji-hoon opened up so many questions this episode that are so DELICIOUS in terms of writing brilliance. I think it was smart for the writer to wait this long to throw him into the mix. I also don't think it's him but he's definitely shady and may be inadvertently involved based on some past action.
I was glad that Dong Chan didn't remember him from adultery photos. The writer I'm sure, figured we would be suspecting that but instead of going that route, it was through his hyung's case. The threads are weaved so well into this story's fabric.

This show likes to throw shade on everrrybody. Aside from our main characters, i'm even including our resident security guard who happens to pop in and out of scenes every now and then all seemingly normal, gramps, who seems to know alot more about dong-chan than we think, and yeah, im eyeing detective Ho-Kook as well, because no one is free from suspicion.
Every other main character is suspect by default.
Also, yes. That last scene, although not your typical scary scene (usually they like to do sudden sneak attack with a loud sound to accompany it), but here it is more effective and fear-inducing to have US see him sneak up on her. Very suspenseful. I'll admit i may have let out a shriek that no one should ever hear.
And Dong-Chan, oh dong-chan. I never have enough words to speak of you but in this episode I see your flaws, I understand you more, and I continue to fall deeper in love with you. You, who makes me swoon, double over in laughter (that ho-kook imitation HA), and makes us all relieved you're in soo hyun's life. She would not survive on her own!

I actually suspected the security guy since episode 2, he seems to be popping in and out too conveniently in the story to share his opinions. lol. Also there was that one scene in episode 3 where he found Saet Byul's clothes in the dumpster and gave Ji-hoo that long lecture about how a human-right lawyer should know better when he returned it. Now that we have narrowed down the motive of the kidnapping, that scene just came back to me.
I feel that gramps is probably connected to the case 10 years ago or one of the Ji-hoo's cases, maybe one of the relatives of the victim.
Also, there must be a major hint from the scenes a year ago that I missed. Aside from showing us the lady from that cafe and giving the background to how everyone started to know each other. Why started from a year ago? My guess is that the family of the victim from the incident a year ago is also involved. And also, what did Dong-ha see when Soo hyun crossed/uncrossed her legs?
That last scene totally creeped me out. I think I would handle it better if he came with loud thud from behind her, but it was the silence and the accompanying secrecy of his movements that sent chills down my spine.
DITTO on everything you said about Dong Chan!

Thanks for the recap. The episode was all kinds of awesome. I'm waiting for the analytical commenters to wake up and rip it apart. I think I need to rewatch this.
Someone mentioned and I agree, Soo Hyun really shoulder killed the flashlight but I think she was genuinely lost in the shock of the moment. In the back of her mind she's probably planning to pull out a sharp object and stab him as well. She's quite fearless/reckless.
Dong Chan is just too sexy. I get why he's upset with Woo Jin but I understand Woo Jin too; he acted on his beliefs as well. It must pain him so much to look at Young Gu. On that note, I understand that he would be uncomfortable around his mother but I don't understand his apparent disdain as was shown when he spat out the soup. Ahhh....why Dong Chan?
The appearance of another villain so soon has caught me off guard. I also noticed that it wasn't just Saet Byul in those pictures, but also the girl with the puppy...could she be who he's targeting. In any case, he's creepy as hell.

I noticed that too! I guess I should go back and look again but with the glimpses we got it looked like the little girl with the puppy was in every picture with Saet Byul. Coupling that with it only being episode six ... it seems unlikely that Saet Byul was this guy's target.

All these characters are as interconnected as some of us realized.
Woo-Jin who we now know was a colleague of Dong-Chan's. Dong-Chan who was the witness at the proceeding that Ji-Hoon was a prosecutor for (wait, isn't he a lawyer? he defends the accused but he's wearing prosecutor robes in that trial). Ji-Hoon, who married Soo Hyun. Soo-Hyun, who's first love is Woo-Jin. Dong-Chan, who has formed a partnership with Soo-Hyun.
Dong-chan's grams who is now Saet-byuls temporary nanny. Saet-byul, who befriended young-gyu, Young gyu whose mom was Mimi. Mimi who was killed by our first murderer.
..I am now only waiting for where 10 bill. won gramps fits in to all of this cause so far his character is the most random one yet.
To think one of the baddies is THIS close to our heroine, i'm on pins and needles.

Ack, that was good. The ending scared me out of my wits, but so good.
Bullet points rather than rambles today (and probably from now on) since real life is intervening. I'll still be skulking around these parts, even if I occasionally disappear.
1) Ji-hoon as a prosecutor: interesting. It might provide the motive for the kidnapping, but it also makes us wonder why he switched to becoming a human rights lawyer. He was part of the prosecution which argued for the death penalty for Dong-ho; now he is fervently opposed to capital punishment. Maybe some arms were twisted on the case in order to procure a harsher verdict? Disillusionment would account for Ji-hoon's career choices. Here's looking at you, sinister politicians.
Also, got to admit that I got this one wrong: I thought Dong-chan wouldn't forget the face of someone involved in the case. However, the case took place much longer ago than I had first thought.
2) Another spate of serial killings! The drama made it clear that Dong-ho was convicted on the basis of Dong-chan's evidence - but Dong-chan only claimed to have seen Dong-ho with one victim. So I'm coming down on the side of Dong-ho's innocence for now.
3) I do not buy Bong-seob's explanation. Kill three women before emigrating? Why only those three? Besides, the fact that Young-gyu only asks for his father makes Bong-seob's claims even shakier.
4) Young-gyu's red jumper. It was sadly sweet that Dong-chan ensured Mimi's intentions reached her son. But the shade of red is disconcertingly bright against the drama's muted palette, and it worries me.
5) Dong-chan did not kill Bong-seob. Well hurrah for being partially right - although I did not expect a motorcyclist to come out of nowhere. I did call that Ki-tae would be playing a bigger part in plot, but his part was certainly unexpected.
6) Ki-tae's girlfriend(?). I don't trust her. On the other hand, that is my first impression of every character on this show.
7) The existence of an accomplice. Considering the intricacy of his cover-up plan, he could have been the brains of the operation. But when Dong-chan realised that it was the police who had called the emergency services, my instincts were yelling that it was an inside job. Sure, the accomplice may be smart - but how would he know where the police van would be without insider info?
8) Creepy stationery shopkeeper Jang Man-soo. Well, he's definitely a serial killer: he has an entire room of murder equipment. (Unless the drama pulls a fast one, and gives us a legal explanation for the terrifying storeroom from hell.) And those photos! I felt unclean just looking at them. But none of them were of Saet-byul by herself - so I think his true target may have been her puppy-owning friend, thus making him yet another murderous red herring. It also shocks me how close my tongue-in-cheek wildcard explanation - from way back in the first week - might be to the truth. It's just further proof, as if...

(Cont.)
8)... It's just further proof, as if it were needed, at how good the plot is at laying little clues way in advance. Anyway, paedophile cum serial killer it is. And goodness only knows what happened to the poor dog.
9) Soo-hyun spotted what she thought was Saet-byul's clock hidden in Man-soo's cuckoo clock. It's not too distinctive a model, any little girl might own it. So it may very well have been a trophy from one of his victims - perhaps the one we saw in the first episode? Alternatively, in the case file, Man-soo insisted that his father was wrongfully convicted. Maybe it was because he was the one who committed the crimes: the account of the murder does tally with the equipment he owns.
10) Ji-hoon's threatening email was sent from someone calling himself 'davinci'. A boast about his intelligence, perhaps? Oh, and I don't blame Ji-hoon of not taking much heed of them - it does seem that it would be one of the drawbacks of the job, and most of the time nothing would come of them. However, this could be the exception that proves the rule.
11) The disappearing jewellery. I had not thought of Saet-byul as a possible culprit (thanks, mk). If it is Ji-hoon - as the show is leading us to believe, what with him staring at them in the previous episode - it might be that he recognised them. So it may very well have been his initials on that ring. Hmm.
12) Grandpa knows something. My guesses are birth secret shenanigans, or he's Woo-jin's father - trying to atone for his son's actions. Because Woo-jin completely threw Dong-chan to the wolves in that investigation.
13) Oh, Dong-chan. He's clearly feeling a lot of guilt for Young-gyu's brain damage. But I'm not sure how he did cause it - perhaps the drama was just squeamish of showing a bullet in a child's head. Nevertheless, Young-gyu has no scar indicative of such an injury. Admittedly, I could be reading too much into it.
14) Dong-chan's impression of Ho-kook was some much needed levity. (But I still mistrust Ho-kook. Call me paranoid if you want.)

4) That is so unsettling...Young-gyu with his green shoes, yellow jacket and red jumper is the brightest of them all...in terms of colors at least. That's such an irony if we think about his mental state.
5) Oh yes, after having second...and third and fourth thoughts about that, in the end I was right that I was wrong LOL.
6) Same here. Don't trust anyone.
7) I think either the truck driver was someone from the police or someone from that van was involved in all that.
8) STILL wouldn't bet my money on it. Thanks show, you taught me to distrust everything I see LOL. I explained below in my awful-long post why I wouldn't jump to conclusions with him. Those pics are beyond creepy, but as someone else already mentioned, the perspective from which they were taken is off. We also have the pics with the puppy there and we know that Man-soo was on the girls's side when that happened. Could be a setup, but if it was, how would anyone know they are suspecting him, in order to plant the evidence in advance? There are some just with Saet-byul, but indeed, in most of them, she is alongside the other girl, who might have been the actual target - if he actually planed to do something to them or if it just was a morbid fetish. Oh God no, not the dog!! So adorable! I HATE it when they harm dogs on TV shows.
12) Isn’t he a bit old to be Woo-jin’s father lol? Could be, but since DC’s mother even brought him food and he seems to know all the family history, it’s likely that Gramps is related to DC. Yeah, it was cruel for Woo-jin to act like that, although just like Ji-Hoon, he did what he thought was right and they both put the job above the personal matters (Ji-Hoon helping Bong-sup, Woo-jin confirming that DC disregarded his orders). While Ji-Hoon damaged his relationship with Soo-hyun, Woo-jin made his colleague turn against him. Even though what they did was wrong, I kind of understand the reasoning behind both of them. Kind of. Curious that both men from Soo-hyun’s life are/were equally invested in their jobs and distanced themselves from other people close to them – could that mean that Soo-hyun will end up with DC, who is different from these two?
13) They also didn’t explicitly show Saet-byul in that field – only her hand and a bit of her face. Either they are hiding something or they don’t want to show violent scenes involving kids, but I guess it’s the latter.

No screencap of the open door behind Soo Hyun? That last scene was chilling. Although I'm less worried because Dong Chan is right outside his house.
So Dong Chan is responsible for disabling Young Gyu after all. :( I did not know Young Gyu was adopted. How old was Young Gyu at the time of his adoption? If Dong Ho adopted Young Gyu before he was convicted of murder, how old was Dong Ho at the time? The timelines confuse me in this drama.

Someone did have the theory of Young-gyu being disabled by that gunshot, but I actually thought the kidnapper was hit and not him. We know that Young-gyu is 16 years old and that Dong-ho was also convicted 16 years ago, but for some reason, when Dong-Chan speaks to him, he wonders how come he remembers and loves someone he was only 1 year with (his father). He couldn't have possibly spend time with Dong-Ho, since he was just a few months old when he was sentenced. Is this a goof or did DC pretend to be his dad, but Young-gyu because of the accident, doesn't remember it? It can't be his REAL dad either....

I thought Dong-Ho was convicted 10 years ago (or maybe 11 years ago)? Young Gyu was probably adopted at around 5 or 6 years old and spent a year with Dong-Ho before he was sent to jail.
About his brain damage, the bullet could have scraped Young-gyu's head and hit the kidnapper. But then CCMIIW we still don't know what happened to the kidnapper after that.

Also, how did Mimi die? I'm glad this drama at least gives answers and then move right into the next plotline instead of dragging everything out. Can't wait for the next ep!

I feel it's ironic that she is behaving like the mysterious lady from that cafe now who tells the victims that they are going to die. She also dismissed the mysterious lady as weird/crazy when she said that to her.

Yeah, though I love the fact that SH is not the usual whimpering clueless naïve candy, some of what she does does not make a lot of sense at times. One things that bugs me is she could have avoided that whole looking totally nuts thing if she had gone about it a bit smarter.

The dumb mistakes are because they are human, scared, dealing with an absurd world and putting together the pieces as they go. I am loving this show. God's Gift is the best K crime drama I have watched, and it holds high compared to US and British as well. It does have some pretty nervous parts which is what it is all about.
The van accident is straight out of We Are All Surrounded, almost every bit of the truck hitting the van, the cctv, the toll booth, the waiting to hit the van, exactly the same as when Chief Kang was hit in ...All Surrounded. Same writers?
Still a great drama. Very cinematic and engaging.

Sorry, also wanted to add something:
I consider it sort of weird how whenever they show a cut away scene to when SH ran to the lake where Saet Byul died, they always show Ji-Hoon holding her in his arms. The camera never shows her face, but they keep showing scenes of her hand. Her hand has two fingernails painted red, and the other fingers have no nail polish on them. I dont remember seeing Saet Byul ever wearing red nail polish. Also, I'm wondering if they buried the wrong girl seeing as how they never showed SH actually confirming that the girl found in the lake was actually Saet Byul.
Also, Young Gyu confirms in Ep 2 that Saet Byul didnt die. They show a clip of his foot and one has a bandage around it. I doubt Saet Byul ever died in the first place. Too many inconsistencies to believe that the girl who dies is Saet Byul. Perhaps Saet Byul is still out there and alive. Hoping for the best!
....although I consider it very weird about the ahjumma from the hotel who took the picture, and why Saet Byul isnt in the picture the 2nd time around!

I'm also wondering whether it might not actually have been Saet Byul in the lake..but on the other hand, I think the parents would have been able to make the identification that it is in fact their daughter before they proceeded with the funeral. Maybe the murderer's original target was saet byul's friend but changed to saet byul instead?

But if Saet Byul isn't dead, wouldn't there be another parent out there waiting for her child to come home? Unless the child was missing from a long long time ago and was forgotten?

I love this show.
So basically they're still at square one, as all they've managed to do is change when and kind of how people die, not stop them from dying.
Personally I think this new guy is "just", wow that feels weird, a pervert and not the killer, seeing as there are still ten days left.
On a side note seeing Sunhwa reminds me of the awesomeness that was the first 30 or so episodes of Invincible Youth. I'm still not sure what made those episodes so perfect the right combination of girls, hosts, and villagers, though if I had had to guess something concrete my guess would be Sunny. Hmm I had forgotten how much I miss those girls, I think I'm going to go and start re-watching those episodes.

What an epic episode! It's like I'm saying this after every episode.
1. I am glad we got a glimpse of DC's past. It makes things really clear. And a pat on the back of all the people who had guessed the cause of Cha Bong Soo's death. I totally didn't see that motorcyclist coming. And I'm glad there was a witness – at least DC wasn't arrested as a suspect.
2. It was great to see DC's background story. So the bullet he shot caused Young Gyu's mental impairment. I can see why he is blaming Woo Jin. I'm not repeating, since he has explained himself adequately. What's more surprising is that the grandpa “knows” about him! Now that I think of it, he's just not going to choose someone randomly, and of course there was even lesser chance of landing up on someone with such a complex past. Is the grandpa associated with the killings? Was he targeted for his fortune? Maybe he didn't really die of heart failure – one of the leading causes of deaths. Well – watching Jae Kyung plotting such sly murders in YFAS sure gives me such ideas.
3. The guy assisting the president has surely something up his sleeve. Actually – the president's office is almost surely involved. You see, the CCTVs were broken, the motocycle's chain was switched, the coordination, and the whole records that were wiped out. That means there are higher-ups involved. What I am thinking is, maybe the whole office is acting against the president and pressurizing him to resign or something? Maybe – but this doesn't mean I'm not suspecting the president.
4. Also, DC's such an asset. His instinct is great, yet believable. Plus both the leads have amazing partnership. I am even starting to like DC's assistants, especially Jenny. And Hoo Guk is proving to be really useful too. However – both Woo Jin and Ji Hoon aren't giving me nice vibes. I understand how they act, but I'm feeling that both JH and WJ would be causing problems without meaning to.
5. And it is revealed where DC saw JH! That would be a very important clue later on, because DC's family is now involved with SH's family – and that means their coming back together wasn't coincidence. And now perhaps, there is a chance that maybe DC's brother wasn't really the culprit and this case would be solved too.
6. And so Mimi is Young Gyu's mom, but Dong Ho isn't his real father. That explains things. It was slightly predictable to give the killer the Jack the Ripper kind of twist, but the fact that Cha Bong Soo wanted to tell SH something does give us a clue that he was absolutely not acting independently. And the fact that he was silenced makes it almost certain that there are more people involved.

7. What is important here is DC's mom would be baby-sitting SB for a while! That's great...because I am able to trust his mom – she seems like a harmless old lady who can't believe her son murdered someone and forgives her other son for giving his statement. We can't trust anyone, but I want to trust a lady who picks up a mentally disabled kid from the streets and raises him with such affection. At least more than SB's current nanny.
8. The fact that Dong Ho is mentally disabled also raises question on whether he was actually the criminal or not. He doesn't seem to be in a position to defend himself or even give police a clue as to how his innocence can be proved. But keeping in mind how violently he reacted when SH showed him the victim's photographs makes me think – maybe he was a witness to the crime and was threatened to dispose the bodies? We haven't seen him actually killing people – we have only seen him carrying the body. This could provide a satisfactory conclusion. Also, maybe that's why he is on the list of people to be executed first. Because if the same people were responsible for that crime as well, they wouldn't want to take chances and silence him at the earliest? And that maybe the reason of the murders that occurred recently. The person responsible for those murders wants to silence the only witness and is using more murders to build pressure on the government.
Or is this too farfetched?
9. And...the accomplice. That room was creepy – and the last shot of him peeking into the room where SH is standing in clear view sent chills down my spine. Sheesh. Was he the guy JH had tracked before SH went back in time? Or maybe it was DC as a red herring? Who is that guy exactly? Because at first glance he seems to be acting as an independent psycho serial killer. What's the link between him and the government? Because I know there has to be. The plot is thickening and now everyone involved with the case is in clear danger.
10. Young Gyu's ultimate ddakji seems to hold many clues, out of all of which, I'm suspecting it is a document related to Dong Ho. It just makes perfect sense because coincidence is the best plot device to uphold the theory of all-powerful fate.
11. Dong Chan was freaking awesome when he acted as Hoo Guk. And you would think a suspense drama wouldn't be good at executing comic scenes! Loved it! He's hot blooded...and when he called himself a murderer – *stops breathing * if I think about it, maybe he calls himself because of the bullet he shot and his history with Woo Jin. I refuse to believe otherwise. Hmph.

Dear admins, can you delete the comment I posted twice? It occupies a lot of space and I think it'll annoy everyone. Pretty please? Thank you.
Continuing my theories...
12. Snake also seems to be involved with all this, and also the motorcyclist club. Snake is a creepy name as it is, but there is a high chance this is a red herring, because we know that the person with CBS had researched about SB. So maybe CBS wanted to tell SH that there is a group that's going to use her daughter to create a political storm. Her father is a human right's lawyer and the amount of blackmails he receives means he has loads of people against him. Plus if SH continues involving herself and uncovering the murderers, she's simply giving them all the more reason to target her daughter. Not that she's doing the wrong thing. She's brave and one of the best, if not the best, female characters I've ever seen! You rock, Ajhumma! Is this sufficient explanation for the three-finger salute or is there more to the story?
That cliffhanger is keeping me on the edge(get it? Cliff, edge? No? Okay..) Brilliant acting by both the leads. Seems like I've joined everyone in ranting about the drama – hehe. XD Sorry for the double comment and the long rant.
Really interesting. Let's see what happens next week!

I agree with you. I don't see how he is justified for blaming Woo Jin.
He wasn't exactly in the right state of mind. He saw his nephew was taken as hostage, his mother at the side sobbing asking the guy to let Young gyu off.
It felt a bit like the time when Saet Byul was kidnapped and Soohyun just when bonkers and gave money to kidnappers -- which we all know is not the way to address the issue at hand.

Well I think I kind of understand Dong Chan's way of thinking, he was expecting his friend and partner/team leader who he had worked with for a long time to at least side with him when he needed him the most, yes he did break the rules and didn't follow orders but people working within the police force or detective department always try to cover and side with their colleagues when they make mistakes even serious ones, I've seen these countless times in movies, dramas and crime documentaries where a cop or detective always covers and sides with their partners or colleagues when they are in trouble, it doesn't necessarily mean it's the right thing to do but that's what you expect your colleague or team leader to do especially in their line of work, I think Dong Chan thought that Woo Jin would have supported him considering he knew DC personally and how he is like, he is not the type to do something with bad intentions in his mind, plus he was considered by WJ himself to have been the best detective in the past, now when WJ abandoned him his trust in his team leader totally went out the window, I think you have to work in the detective department or police force to understand DC's way of thinking, I won't say WJ is wrong to stick to what he believes is the right thing to do but if he had sided with DC on that day when he was grilled in that meeting by superiors, I believe DC would not have resented him even if he was fired by the superiors.

I think the Woo-jin / Dong-Chan situation is meant to be a parallel to Ji-Hoon / Soo-hyun, since both WJ and JH put their job responsibilities above any sentimentality and relationships.
On one hand, we have Ji-Hoon helping put back on the streets a killer who also dared to hit his own wife, but he's employing an extreme objectiveness, just because Bong-sup's human rights apparently were not respected. He prefers "doing his job" instead of defending his wife. Telling the Hansel and Gretel story, apart from being a life lesson to his daughter, could also have been a way to reassure himself that he did the thing, because the guilt started to kick in.
Woo-jin, on the other hand, warned Dong-Chan not to take any action, because he anticipated how messy the situation would end up, by being a personal matter for DC. We also know how worked up DC gets when he’s a man on a mission – hunting down criminals like a mad dog and quite possibly obsessing over cases in an unhealthy way, to the point of self-destruction. While it was the right call to keep him out of it, there is no way of telling how the operation would have ended, despite Woo-jin being certain of its success. What we do know is that even though it’s perfectly understandable how Dong-Chan couldn’t just stay aside, he acted desperately, in an impulse to save Young-gyu’s life.
It’s cruel how Woo-jin outs him and doesn’t do any attempt to protect his colleague, but I can see where Woo-jin is coming from. DC not only disobeyed his orders, but put lives in danger and even harmed an innocent person. Besides, DC probably wouldn’t have been in the right state of mind either to continue working there as an investigator, since even today he is still haunted by that mistake, although we see his great efficiency. Continuing to work in the police after such a mistake had the potential of him compromising other operatives as well. Woo-jin either tried to protect him in a certain way or acted out of envy (he knew DC was better than him) or resentment, for daring to defy his orders.
But we do see that Woo-jin seems to care about DC – he protects him and Soo-hyun in the current investigations (refused to say in front of Ji-Hoon that DC hit the killer, saying instead that it was self-defense on the part of the police) and he also has a friendly pat on DC’s back, as a way of congratulating him for his efforts. Woo-jin might feel some guilt for what he did, since for DC, being an investigator was his reason to be and his way to rehabilitate his family’s name, proving that not all of them are killers and that he can serve to do good deeds in this world. So when Woo-jin inadvertently took all this away from Dong-Chan, Dong-Chan lost the only thing which kept him sane and able to cope with his inner demons. It might also be a defense mechanism for DC to blame WJ for everything and WJ even questions that.
I love how there isn’t a clear line here between good and bad-we can make a case both...

...for and against a person. There is no black and white, only grey. Nobody is good to the point of perfection, just like nobody (so far, at least) is that evil to the point of completely losing humanity. We have flawed people trying to do the right thing, good people who can't or refuse to see their own faults, killers who think they are doing a good thing by taking the "garbage" out of the streets... As they say, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Most of these characters (APPARENTLY!) have good intentions, but either they are misunderstood or the execution is faulty. In a way, there is something redeemable about everyone.

#12 Wanna bet that Snake is the guy from the group picture with the pink helmet LOL? It totally looks like his style. Apart from the puppy guy, it's the only face we can't see clearly.
Screencap: http://s3.postimg.org/qa8q9v2de/vlcsnap_2014_03_20_07h52m31s244.jpg
I can definitely see more of this Freedom group members involved in this, especially since several of them seem to have grown up together at the Michael Welfare Center and Bong-sup eventually taught there. The puppy guy (Jang Man Soo) had a sheet of paper with an orphanage's name and logo, which is the same one where Bong-sup grew up. Our killer Bong-sup met Ki Tae in the same conjuncture and they became close buddies.
Could this Freedom Club be a cover up for people who were raised in awful conditions and who feel they have the right to punish anyone who puts others in the same position as they once were? And could it be that in the group, some might have developed personal agendas? It's not that difficult or implausible for a group leader of sorts to plant evil ideas in the minds of people affected by poor life conditions...

Ahhh, that wicked witch girlfriday finally released you from the basement !! Welcome back LOL. Dramallama, I agree on your comments regarding Soo-hyun’s reckless audacity – I love her for being so bad-ass, although I also wish she would stop being so foolish and hysterical at times. However, we can’t really blame her – after all, she is pretty much at her boiling point.
Now as for my comments, here we go…
1) Ohhh so I was right in being wrong hahahaha. Of course Dong-Chan had to be innocent. At this point, I should just stop with the wild theories, since it never works with him. The killer though seemed that he wanted to tell Soo-hyun something related to Dong-Chan, since he starts by saying that he was ready to tell that ajumma everything, then goes on saying “You…” and stops there.
2) Yaaay, shout out to the beanie collective – of course Mimi was Young-gyu’s mother and not only that, but as I and others thought, the killer was punishing them for having abandoned them. Although there is something strange here. He seemed to have a special interest in Young-gyu, but we see he never ever talks about his mother – he even believes it was his father who brought him to life, despite having lived with him for only a year. But on the other hand, we have the Ki Tae case, where he clearly states he resented his mother, so Bong-sup takes care of her. There is something here that we are missing, because the killer seemed to pinpoint people who hated their mothers, yet Young-gyu didn’t have any feelings towards his at all – nor bad or good.
3) Ugh, some characters start to really get on my nerves. I find gramps, granny and the security guy quite annoying. Yeah, I get it that gramps must be someone close to Dong-Chan’s family, since he knows everything about them, but my low tolerance for bossy old people kicks in with him LOL. As for granny, she reminds me too much of a character I loathed in a previous K-drama (HAHAHAHA full objectiveness here) and the security guy…ugh…get a life and let others live. What’s up with him?
4) Ohhh so Ji-Hoon was a prosecutor in the Moojin serial killings case? I wonder what made him switch to the other side – maybe because he felt guilty of putting someone behind bars and finding out he was innocent? Maybe that person was even wrongfully sentenced to death, so he decided to become a “good guy”. What’s clear to me is that Dong-ho MIGHT have killed that girl, but in no way was he a serial killer. His disability could have made him kill someone by accident, but if he supposedly killed more, it’s a no-go. And do they really convict him for all the murders, even though they only manage to prove one? Isn’t that against Ji-Hoon’s beliefs of assuming someone is guilty without having precise evidences? Interestingly enough, Dong-Chan doesn’t just say yes to the question of dumping the body, but also to the fact that he saw his brother killing that girl.

5) Ji-Hoon is definitely shady and more so the fact that he seemed to know who the killer was, when he gets those pictures. We know now that he receives harassing mails all the time (not surprising, taking into account what he does), so that mail from davinci could have something to do with Saet-byul’s death.
6) This show is all about characters trying to cope with guilt. Soo-hyun with the guilt of not take enough care of her daughter, Dong-Chan with the guilt of disabling his own nephew, Ji-Hoon MAYBE with the guilt of being responsible for the conviction of an innocent person, Woo-jin MAYBE with the guilt of lacking any sensibility and letting down his partner. While what Woo-jin did was cruel, he probably believed he was right to do it, since he couldn’t allow something like that to happen again and his personal resentment for DC having disobeyed his orders might have come into play. Heck, maybe there was even some envy involved, since he always knew DC was better than him. Still, we see him trying to get along with DC and help him – maybe this is his way of fixing things up.
7) God’s Gift revolves around fate not just for the main characters, but also for the killers – that vehicle hitting Bong-sup – KARMA, bitch LOL.

8) Speaking of Bong-sup, it smells to me more than ever that there are still more people involved than the characters believe. I feel Jang Man Soo is a total red herring and here’s why. First of, the guy who was driving the truck looks different from Jang Man Soo – different ears, different skin. Sure, it might be a body-double, but at least with Bong-sup, it wasn’t the case.
Screencap: http://s15.postimg.org/5ofqac296/vlcsnap_2014_03_20_07h41m21s191.jpg
As for the tattoo, it seems strange that Jang Man Soo would be so freaked out about hiding it, if he doesn’t even know they are looking for that clue. Besides, Saet-byul draws it on the wall – I highly doubt she would draw something which causes her fear. We see her draw a house, her family…I guess that symbol might bring some pleasant memories for her to draw it. Maybe it’s Snake’s tattoo?? That must be a total red herring for Jang Man Soo – he might hide a scar he is embarrassed of or something entirely different. He also doesn’t seem to be the kind of guy who would own a truck – where would he place it? How could he afford one, since he seems to run a small shop? Sure, appearances might be deceiving, but I doubt he is the guy who was involved in the setup. My money is on an inside job – maybe one of the officers transporting him was involved. I rule Ho Guk out of this, because of that gunshot. I don’t rule him out though from the entire scheme, because although he seems like a nice chap, he does look like a guy who can easily be manipulated, since he’s such a chicken. Also remember that the killer wasn’t supposed to die until later – he was meant to escape to Philippines without even getting caught and this reinforces my belief that someone from the police knew what was going on. First of – the lack of DNA and blood from the house. What if the forensics guy or whoever arrived first at the crime scene fabricated all the evidence, so that they can release Bong-sup? With Bong-sup in jail, he couldn’t have possibly taken his identity. The person who calls during the show used the knife wounds argument just because he was certain that they would never catch Bong-sup – otherwise, his threats wouldn’t have been taken seriously. Since Bong-sup was already dead at that time, being hit by that bus, if the caller was someone from the police, he surely recognized the dead body and was able to assume the killer’s identity. The fact that the call from the scene comes from the police and that Woo-jin finds out what happened only seconds after, seem to support this. More than dead or alive, he needed Bong-sup NOT GUILTY and since there was already enough evidence against him, he had to be eliminated, without getting his hands all dirty. Woo-jin, babe, please tell me you are not in this LOL.
Maybe the guy from the backseat is involved? Anyone of them could have made the call and we only see Ho Guk afterwards.

About the tattoo thing, I don't find it odd that he tried to hide it from Jenny, if a person is planning on doing a bad thing or has done bad things in the past, that person will always suspect anyone and everyone that they don't know, they also don't want to be close with someone they don't know and are very careful around strangers, plus I don't know about how other viewers felt but to me Jenny was acting very suspicious, she was stealing glances at him like she had something up her sleeve, when she asked for the game in the top shelf he surely noticed or suspected something is up with her, she also spilled the coffee on him and that was more suspicious for him, plus who comes to the store in the middle of the night and bangs on the closed shop to have it opened just to exchange CD's, he was rightly suspicious of her and if I were in place him I would be suspicious of her too...

We never see the guy sitting back clearly and I doubt it was the driver, because if he knew what was coming, he would have probably stopped the van in the nick of time, avoiding the crash. Or maybe the truck driver himself was in disguise and is in fact someone from the police. Gah, there are so many of them.
9) Interesting thing – the threatening e-mail has ‘simba’ in its name and when Soo-hyun is at Jang Man Soo’s house, “The Lion King” is on TV lol.
Screencap: http://s28.postimg.org/lgdcupty4/vlcsnap_2014_03_20_07h53m07s83.jpg
What’s more, The Lion King is also a story of guilt and being wrongly accused. Simba is led by his uncle Scar to believe that he was responsible for the death of his father until the very end, when Scar, just like the typical villain, boasts about his killing, since he was about to do the same to Simba as well. Hope I didn’t spoil the movie for you LOL. I wonder if it’s coincidental, because so far in this show, nothing has been random.
10) I still don’t know how the kidnapping fits in all this, since we’ve only dealt with killings so far, without involving any hostages. Someone needs to remember that Song case from episode 1! Someone as in the characters lol. We know Jang Man Soo is a photograph enthusiast, owning a lot of cameras. We also know that his favorite models seem to be Saet-byul and the other girl with the dog. He has in the room all the tools which go hand in hand with the kidnapping. He grew up in the same orphanage as Bong-sup and Ki Tae (?) and he was also part of the same Freedom motorcycle club. It’s creepy as hell that he has all those pics on the wall, but maybe he just has a morbid interest in the girls, without actually wanting to harm them. It screams pedophilia to me, but we know that with this show, nothing is what it seems to be. Creepy – yes, but who knows?
11) So many broken things: that bracelet (Hah! I knew that zoom was for a reason), the CCTV, the camera, which oddly, was INDEED broken earlier. This has to do with the Gangnam murderer, since in the previous reality, the camera was repaired and got broken only after Soo-hyun slams him. This means that Soo-hyun’s actions led the camera to be destroyed by someone else, possibly to erase any evidences.
12) Who do those people talking with the president want to execute as a model? They were talking about Ki Tae’s case getting out of hand and suddenly, they want to execute someone. Do they talk about executing someone on death row, to divert attention? Maybe even Dong-ho ahead of time? Curious that this time around, it’s the creepy Minister of Justice who tells them things are not so simple.

13) Huh, so Dong-Chan really did injure his nephew and left him brain damaged. I couldn’t tell from that flashback – I thought the guy was the one who went down and not Young-gyu. Maybe they thought it would be too gruesome to show the child bleeding, just like it would have been to show us Saet-byul’s corpse and that’s why it wasn’t so explicit? Also, if the subtitles were correct, when granny pleads the guy to let his nephew go because they are not even blood related (Huh?? I know it’s true, but it’s an odd thing to say), he refers to that guy as TEACHER? Wait, so he was a TEACHER? Just like Bong-sup? Did he actually escape police and maybe was replaced by Bong-sup?
14) LOLOLOL with Dong-Chan’s spot-on impression of Ho Guk. That was hilarious :D :D :D .
15) What’s up with the money that Dong-Chan puts in Woo-jin’s pocket, saying that the price didn’t go up yet? Is that some kind of a debt? Or a way to tell him that he owns him?
16) Oh jeez, that ajumma actually recommends granny to be in charge of Saet-byul, right after she was blamed by that family in the street for letting strangers in the house?? Sorry, but that’s irresponsible and I have a bad feeling about it, if she will be hired by Soo-hyun.
17) Hmmm where could the jewelry be? Ji-Hoon might have hidden them, but again, this might be a red herring and Soo-hyun will eventually find them and get clues for something else.
18) Loved the ending and how they build on the creepiness. I hate it when they try to scare us employing loud noises or the dog suddenly appearing at the window. It’s the still and slow scenes which have the greater effect. And we all assume the two are going to have a fight, but she might look at his arm and see there is no tattoo ;) .

16. I may be wrong (since I still have to watch the episode), but from the recap I think Granny actually was fired because she called the police on the stranger. The stranger then turned out to be an uncle of the child she was babysitting. Again, I may be wrong...
Btw, loved how you connected The Lion King to the drama. :)

Oh it could be, since Viki subs aren't always that accurate - that's why I mostly prefer those from DramaFever, but the Viki subbers are faster, so I use whatever comes in handy. It's also a bit more difficult to subtitle a show when there are people talking over each other, but thanks for clearing it up, you are probably right, since the security guy does say that the uncle and mother waited outside for hours - she might have really mistook them for strangers.
Haha thanks for The Lion King...now we even have to pay attention to what's showing on TV lol.

15. I think he meant it as an insult. Dongchan stuffing the bills into WJ's pocket meant that he thought WJ didnt defend him because he didnt want to threaten his career advancement. So it was like WJ choose money instead of dongchan

No. 16, I think you mistook the incident Young Gyu's grandma's was involved in, she was fired because she didn't let the stranger in the house who claimed to be the child's uncle, she actually called the police on him but they found out he was indeed the real uncle, the is why Soo Hyun confidently said okay for the grandma to be the babysitter because she heard about that incident from the security guy.

Well, for starters ... I don't really have full trust in Ki Dong Chan's character. Yes he is funny and seems pretty decent but all that happens when he is sober.
Somehow when i think back of the 2nd episode we get a glimpse of Dong Chan in his less sober state and getting having blood on his shirt and Saet Byul's clip, it just gives me creeps.
But there is the tattoo and wall drawing which points to the other guy so Dong Chan is not as suspicious -- however when you see his dreams .. there is a guy who dumps a girl into the lake. It could be trauma from what he seen from his brother or he himself and the girl could very well be Saet Byul.
Before Cha Bong Seob was going to die, Dong chan asked him what he was gonna say to SooHyun and he said he was gonna tell her everything about Dong Chan (?) .
Of course we have that ever famous quote from Ji Hoon that all is innocent until proven guilty so for now Dong Chan is innocent .
Lastly , I would love to see more of Teo and how his story plays out with the rest.

Ok I typed my comment below before I saw yours. We share the same suspicions about Dong Chan. Great insight when you said that the memory of a man throwing a girl into the river could very well be his. Initially I suspected Ji Hoon in that memory. His head seem to be like his.

I think Ji Hoon is suspicious but not to the extend he will actually kidnap his daughter. Past episode shows he know who is the one who kidnapped his daughter ( when he opened the letter sent to him) but he is definitely connected to it .
Cause if not why would the person have sent the letter to him ?
I've felt warning signs when Dong Chan took away his brother's information from the list. I mean he is considered a suspect as those who would want to take revenge on Ji Hoon. I feel like when he sees the takji it will probably be the spark that will lead him to take revenge.
The politicians/Government people seems pretty suspicious too but the rank second on my list of possibility.

Oh wow this episode. This show. AMAZING. I'm being blown off my feet here.
The first thing I'd like to discuss- The Dong-chan/Woo-jin back story - I'm 100% behind DC on this one. No wonder the guy hats WJ. Yeah police officers shouldn't disobey orders, that is true. On the other hand the psycho was about to kill the kid, by going behind how was WJ supposed to notice anyway? And also despite what he says I think Young-gyu would have been shot by the time WJ got dealing with psycho. So yeah I support DC shooting despite it all. And he was right- nephew or no nephew, he saw that a kid was about to die at the hands of a psycho who was not willing to negotiate and did his best to save him.
Next thing- This show MOVES SO FAST! Maybe because I'm not used to shows like these, but wow we're literally flying through the days. Not that I'm complaining; I love how the show keeps us on pins and needles ALL the time.
Episode Ending- EEEEEEEP! I nearly had a heart attack and I was like get out of there Soo-hyun, GET OUT! And then she went into that room...and I died. IT WAS TOO CREEPY. It does not help that I was watching that scene at 4 AM in the morning. Now I'm just not gonna be able to sleep! xD
I’m getting more annoyed by dad. WHY is he being so suspicious?! I know he didn’t kill Saet-byul, that much can be seen from his reaction at the lake. But he’s covering up stuff and I’m really scared of what the consequences of that covering up will be. Like SB dying again. PLEASE TELL ME THAT WON’T HAPPEN!
And I was SHOCKED when I realized the brutal road accident with the green bracelet victim was Cha. The way this show twists. :O
I wanted to ask, the guy with helmet and creepy room- MS? - Does he know SB somehow?
I seriously wish next week would come sooner. This drama is so awesome. <3

Yup, it's the storekeeper from episode one, who is asked by Saet-byul to watch for her friend's puppy, since she wasn't allowed to bring it to school and her mother didn't allow her to keep him at home either. The general consensus at that time was that the guy looked creepy as hell LOL.

I so love this drama. I actually rewatch episodes so I don't miss anything. Of course, thank heavens for recaps and commentators. I can get all kinds of insights and guesses. So great feeling so actively involved in a drama where you pretty much kinda know everything the main characters do.
I totally have a crush on Dong Chan. It's been a while that I've seen a character whose personality totally wins me over. HE's a sweetheart, quirky, caring, AND a badass.
Heroine is okay. She seems real most of the time but am not sure I would tell a guy "i have to kill you or you will kill my daughter." Such a comment would only be said if the screenwriter needed it to be said...and I felt, "wow, screenwriter-nim, can't you find a better way to have that info conveyed to Big Bad #1 without having her simply --unrealistically-- say it? Like...maybe have the comment overheard?" But other than that...great show!
Thanks for the recap.

I don't know what do you mean by that. The viewers are giving a lot of respect to Lee Bo Young's character. Her character is different from most of the usual female characters in kdramaland. Also, if I remember it correctly most people didn't care about Dong Chan's character in the first two episodes, I saw many comments in different sites saying his character is a distraction from the show and LBY's character totally overshadowed his character. From ep 3 onwards those views about Dong Chan quickly changed and majority of the viewers began to like him and his character, you have to give some props to Jo Seung Woo for making that happen, he totally made that character into himself, his character is full of flaws but yet still people love him, that in itself says that it's more like they love how the character is being portrayed by Jo Seung Woo than the character itself, also as soon as the drama managed to get JSW to do the drama I knew his character would not play second fiddle to LBY's character, the drama may be about her but you can't deny the fact that Jo Seung Woo is a very reknowned actor in Korea, he's a movie star and has starred in blockbuster hit movies like Tazza which broke lot of records in Korea, he's geniunely praised by critics and viewers alike for his acting, no way he's playing second lead in this drama, he has already managed to slightly overshadow LBY and make part of this drama his own. I love LBY as much as the next person but I don't mind or surprised that JSW is actually overshadowing her because he's that good of an actor in my eyes, k-netizens are already starting to praise his acting in the drama..,

Also, please stop with these feminist bullcrap, as far as I can see people are praising her character's guts and badassery, they are also understanding her desperation of being a mother whose child is about to die unless she does something, they are with her 100 percent, what more do you want than that? Do you want the viewers to put her picture in the room and worship her? and dong chan's character is helping her in any ways he can, yes he has his motives for helping her out but the more he's involved in this the more he looks like he now wants to genuinely stop SB from dying, he's getting attached to SB as well, and these are the reasons why viewers are loving him, he's always there for our heroine and looks like the only one who believes her theories, when SB gave him reasons that the killer might not be the dead guy he immediately started working to find the real kidnapper, I can't blame the viewers male or female for falling in love with his character, it's more than just fangirling, also in kdrama land it's not only the females but males are always portrayed as arrogant, jealous, manchild, petty, violent and all sorts of bad things when in real life only few might be like that, I don't see the males coming here to complain about that. If you want to blame someone blame the writers who matter of fact happen to be mostly females for writing female characters that are not to your liking.

feminism is not bull lol whether u like it or not
and I love how you twist the whole thing first of all its the writer who made his character on the cute side to lighten the tension caused by LBY brilliant angsty performance and thats not great acting and not overshadowing but its quit useless to reason with such fans who bring every female down in favor of the male in every show and we are sick of it

Hi Sarah, I've replied to you underneath before typing this second statement.
Would like to clear up some things as I think you are mistaken. Fans point out the heroine's flaws, and that does not mean they are trying to "bring every female down in favor of the male", but as critics of storylines we are critics of characters.
The audience has nothing against the heroine. The audience wants better written females(trust us, we do). The writer is the one at fault for not creating the kind of heroine that many can root for(im generalizing here). This doesn't apply to this show in particular, because as far as I see it there are way more people loving soo-hyun than there are the typical candies of dramaland who mope around without a backbone; mainly people are frustrated at some of soo-hyuns missteps. You can still love a character and point out their flaws (which is what most people are doing). Perhaps your statement stems from the influx of dong-chan lovers? Do not worry, there is enough love to spread around.
Again, i would like to stress that people do not personally have a vendetta against females and that is not why we favor certain characters over the other. I hope you are not offended by my statement, I just wanted to clear up any misunderstandings.

I'm not bringing LBY or any female down, I'm just stating the facts, I also like female leads who have a strong character and I don't think you can call LBY's character in this drama anything less than that, she makes her own choices and does what she thinks is the best way of handling things unlike most female character in kdramas, viewers are totally admiring this fact about her and praising her time and time again for being brave and fearless, even dong chan praised her and totally respects her for who she is, he's also unlike other male leads we see in dramas who are always portrayed as jerks, ok I might have gone overboard with the overshadowing thing but that's just my opinion, I just don't see the reason to put the men down just to make the female look better or strong, I want both male and female characters to be strong and independent in their own right, your comment if you read yourself clearly states that you are angry about Dong Chan getting more attention by viewers than Soo Hyun, and even if that's the case I don't see anything wrong with that, if he was a bad character who is a jerk and viewers still loved him then yeah I would be angry too but that's not the case here...

Her role is strong enough for feminists to appreciate it. Just that she is desperate to save her daughter so she gets desperate and become rash which can be irritating as a viewer but as a mother I would have done the same.
I believe this is Lee Bo Young's strongest, best, feminist role ever in her entire career and she is giving it all. I can totally feel her angst and her desperation and her love for her daughter.
As for the Dong Chan (Jo Seung-woo), he is so good at his role and acting that yes, he may over-shadow the heroine a bit. In Fact I have become his huge fan after watching this drama because each moment, each dialogue he delivers is perfect. I just love to see his eyes, lips, facial muscles twitch and move and he is dot on. There are very few actors like him. He is an A lister for nothing! His acting is intense so real!
I can't help myself as a fan to ship them together whereas the story doesn't suggest anything romantic but an admiration for the heroine from his side. Also they share a camaraderie together since they are the only one who went back in time and he is her saviour literally. It may be Kismet but their destiny is indeed intertwined and despite all, we can't help but ship the characters together.
Feminism doesn't mean anti-hero or anti-romance. It is a feminist film. A story about a mother who is time bound to save her daughter with the help of a man who time traveled with her. Just enjoy the extras~

Hi Sarah,
"Show some respect to motherhood"
I don't understand where there's disrespect. As a mother she's done everything and anything she can to save her daughter. Even if people are frustrated with her reckless and emotional decisions, most of them understand the reason behind it. Some people are more tolerant, others not so much. Most just want her to be a bit smarter about it as there were several times she could have avoided getting into certain situations, but generally i still think her character is written more realistically that most heroines. Also, Lee Bo Young's character is way better than majority of the candies out there in dramaland and i'm sure most could agree with that.
This has nothing to do with being anti-feminism, but who they are as characters and the emotional decisions they make based on their own thoughts and feelings. It is realistic for Soo-Hyun to be clouded in judgement because this is her daughter we are talking about. Dong-Chan would act the same exact way if that ever was his son (and i would compare that to the choice he made when he accidentally shot at young-gyu). So far BOTH soo-hyun and dong-chan have made emotional and reckless decisions in their life.
Ki Dong Chan is not just "my cool hero guy", but he's someone who has made some major mistakes in his life and in many ways is redeeming himself by helping soo-hyun save her daughter. I personally fangirl over him because of the many complex layers of his character and the fantastic portrayal from Jo Seung Woo. That in no way makes me an anti-feminist fan girl. I'm all for feminism, but I accept weaknesses in heroines that are realistically portrayed. I look at the reasons behind what drives a character and point out their flaws as individuals; gender plays no role.

ilikemangos for the win! While every major character on the show has its fans and detractors - sometimes it's even a love/hate relationship, there is no denying that despite Dong-Chan being the most exciting of the bunch (he's like a wounded puppy who needs care), we do take our heroine's side. With all her recklessness, I don't think anyone here hates her - sure, she makes some questionable choices, but you can't really blame her, since the whole situation gives Soo-hyun mitigating circumstances. I was in awe of her fighting spirit and of how she refused to be a damsel in distress, taking matters into her own hands. This is admirable and I made sure to evidence that aspect. It also helps that she is the only character free from any suspicion - since we can fully trust her, it makes it easier for us to relate to her and support her cause.

Fantastic episode! Simply brilliant!
I am so glad we got some insight into Dong-chan's character. I still wonder about that hairpin but not to the extent that I think he's a killer or kidnapper.I'm glad he didn't kill that other killer.
By the way, is the kidnapper the guy who Saet-byul had watch her friend's dog in episode 1? All the pictures he has of her are creepy. I really hope that he isn't the one to open the door at the end. That it's a fake out and is really Dong-chan is what I'm hoping for.

I'm really really curious. Does anyone here, like me, think that the killer is Yong Gyu?
I mean, somehow it makes sense.
1. He's the one least likely to be suspected.
2. He has the motive (vendetta). It had been established that he holds his father in high regard
3. He has the access. In the last episode, we see that Grandma will be the one to look after Saet Byul temporarily. That opens the door of opportunity. Plus Yong Gyu is close to Saet Byul. Keyser Soze anyone?
Going by the show's logic, everything is connected. I just got this suspicion because there are a lot of scenes where Yong Gyu is shown but there's really no purpose (yet) for his presence. Like there's no immediate payoff.
For example, that scene where Soo Hyeon slaps him, that scene at the police station. The camera doesn't show what happens to Yong Gyu after, as if we were being kept in the dark. I mean, there's really no purpose to that slap, except that the show tells us that that scene antagonized Soo Hyeon to Saet Byul's eyes. But that isn't enough. The slap is powerful but the purpose is weak.
This theory also explains why he is close (as in distance) with Bong Sup as if he's monitoring Bong Sup's movements to make his plans. Just.. I don't know. Unless the writers are really sloppy, I think that Yong Gyu is the missing link.
Maybe I'm reading too much, but right now my money's on Yong Gyu :P
