KBS melodrama Full Sun releases posters
by girlfriday
We’ve got another week to go until KBS’s newest Monday-Tuesday drama Full Sun premieres (Prime Minister ended last week but Olympics coverage will push new shows back another week). Official posters are out, featuring leads Yoon Kye-sang, Han Ji-hye, and Jo Jin-woong. They’re not nearly as interesting as the teasers, though it’s mostly because dramas seem incapable of veering away from the three-headed monster composition.
Still, Yoon Kye-sang is showing such range in all the promo materials–from adoring grandson to wrongly accused man to dark and sinister con man with a death wish–that I’m already interested in his character. He’ll start out as young man with humble hopes of a normal life despite having grown up with a transient con man father, but loses everything when he goes to jail for killing a man. That man is of course Han Ji-hye’s fiancé, which neither of them will know when they meet five years later.
Yoon Kye-sang will come out of jail and take on a new identity to join the jewel smuggling operation that his father was once a part of, now run by family friend and hyung Jo Jin-woong and his accomplice Kim Yuri (Master’s Sun). And we finally get a glimpse of Sohn Ho-joon (Answer Me 1994), who will play Han Ji-hye’s brother.
Naturally Yoon Kye-sang and Han Ji-hye will fall in love not knowing that he’s the man who (maybe) killed the love of her life. Angst bender, straight ahead. He narrates in the teaser: “If I could go back, could I have lived as me, as Jung Se-ro? Five years ago, to that day when everything went wrong… could I go back?”
Full Sun premieres February 17.

Looks very dramatic. I LOVE IT! I can't wait until it finishes airing so I can watch it...my patience sucks.
It's also the same older lady from his Kdrama, "Crazy for You/Love"

I'm convinced that every k-melo drama has a standard for their posters :

oooh dear Sohn Ho Joon is so damn sexy in this. And it's my favorite grandma from Dal Ja's Spring! Also Moo Hyul's a lead I'm so happy. I just stumbled upon him in this random drama called My Love, My Family and he has the CUTEST love story with Han Chae-Ah of all people. It's actually a pretty good family drama except for one storyline I don't care for. I watched it because I couldn't stand that Lee Pil-Mo is the 2nd lead in Emergency Couple because he's so sexy in it.

So can Song Jong-Ho get his own drama soon? I've been waiting for this since Mandate Of Heaven. Preferably with Kang Byul (although I'd just want them to be the same character's all over again so perhaps not a good idea?)

Sohn Ho Joon and Song Jong Ho -- not confusing at all.
Song Jong Ho needs to headline his own drama, not die within the first 2 episodes (which im predicting since we already see it in the teasers). I think it's been long enough for him, he deserves it!

I'm hesitant to start watching anything on KBS anymore, since they treat their viewers like crap. They might just drive me away from K-dramas altogether. :(
I should only watch KBS on a very casual basis, because if I get involved in any more dramas, they will inevitably screw around with the schedule - they will double up episodes, or show extra episodes at odd times, or have the TV image breaking up (as has been happening in SF for the past several days - and yes, I've called my cable provider to complain several times - I've even emailed KBS directly), and whatever other problems they can create. It's been a love/hate relationship. Love them when everything goes right; hate them when it doesn't (which is FAR too often). :(

If SF means San Francisco, I'm also not happy with KBS America in SF. I was watching over the air on 26.3, and I guess I should be grateful to get the non-HD shows for free with English subs. But, as you said, KBS is really messing around with the schedules. So I recently had to go to other streaming sources to find the episodes that I missed. After learning how to streamcast to my TV in HD with subs and watching on my schedule, I probably will be watching KBS over the air only as a last resort.

Going to catch this drama! I haven't watched a melodrama for a long time since I Miss You and Nice Guy.
And is it just me but does that poster underneath the video looks as if Yoon Kye Sang is trying to feel Han Ji-hye's pulse?

Is YKS trying to strangle Jihye or feeling her pulse in that poster? lol. I'm ready! Hoping this will be as entertaining as Secret. :)

So . . . I'm not seeing this as a show in which anyone will be going for big, belly laughs? It's like a collection of melodrama cliches.

This drama is like a mixture of every recent melodrama I've watched and enjoyed to varying degrees (Nice Guy, TWTWB, Secret) so I know I'm definitely going to get hooked. Heck, the promo looked exciting to me.
It also reminds me that I never got around to finishing Crazy For Love.

When I began watching kdramas, melos were pretty much what I watched...since that was pretty much the rage back then. My tastes have changed over the years, particularly because they're emotionally draining! (as well as implementing the same ol' tropes/clichés).
That being said, I'll tune in the first few (at least) to see Yoon Kye-sang and his transformation, because that seems very intriguing. And...aww, look at Haitai! ;)

I remember when I finished watching When a man loves (more than Secret or I miss you)...Oh it was so emotionally draining, that I felt the urge of soul's exfoliation and I watched A gentlemen's dignity...
I don't know if I will watch this one now, or wait till it finish...
It seems to me that the drama is asking us to endure the anguish along with the main characters. Do I feel prepared for this compromise??
Er noup, yet.
