Name That Drama: Buses, cliffs, and hanboks

- Aw, just reading Ashley’s question gives me warm memories…
This has been killing me for so long, and I’ve been trying to hunt it down for the longest time. The drama isn’t terribly old — probably within the last decade or so. It was a romance-comedy, where the guy and girl didn’t get along at first (lots of bickering!) but they fell for each other by the end. I know that this sounds like every drama ever, but there was this one scene, where to two got into a fight or something. She went on the bus, and he followed her on it and sat behind here. And as she started nodding off to sleep, her head was about to hit the window. So he held her head from behind so she could have a more restful sleep.
- Here’s a question from pinkhearts about a ten-year-old (or thereabouts) drama:
There is this drama that I saw on TV when I was young (it was dubbed), but I am pretty sure it was a Korean drama. It aired in the early 2000s and was about gambling. The main guy was really good at gambling. I do not remember much about it except for two scenes. The first scene is when the main guy sees the main girl again after many years being apart and she is no longer the innocent girl like the past and has toughened up. The second scene that I remember is the ending. The main guy dies and the main girl is left alone with their son (or daughter?).
- kanya asks:
I am looking for an old drama. It aired on my national TV station in early 2000s, so probably it originally aired in the late ’90s or early 2000s. I can’t remember if it’s Korean, it could be Taiwanese/Japanese. The story is about two brothers whose parents died, and when the dad died, the brothers escape from home. Unfortunately, one of them slipped onto the cliff, the other tried to help by giving his handkerchief to hang onto, but he couldn’t and his brother fell instead. Years later, the brother somehow was alive and they met as grown-ups, thus it created conflict between them. I remember mostly the cliff scene. So if anybody can help me I would greatly appreciate. Thank you!
- Grace’s question is about a movie:
Can you help me identify this one Korean movie? I believe this to be a Korean movie because of the clothing that they wore in it.
I don’t really remember, but it was set during a war, which I can only assume to be the Korean War. Boy and Girl fall in love, and the boy went off to war. At the end, the girl was dress in a (I think pink) hanbok and was walking to a place (I think a house) in the snow, with a mountain in the background. I think she was crying. If my memory serves me right, I think the boy died.
I don’t really much but I watched in perhaps in the late ’90s or early 2000s. The movie was very sad and it left a deep impression on me, however, I can never find it again. It was a translated movie that my parents borrowed from a friend to watch.
I specially think that this is a Korean movie because of the clothing that the girl wore in it. Thanks in advance!

Wow. That was 9 years ago but I'm still waiting for Jae Hee and Han Chae Young to star in another drama. Hehe
(Or any great drama individually. They seem to have really bad luck in choosing projects after DGCH.)

Yes, I think it's a recurring motif in many rom-coms, especially the ones with younger couples, too, can't come up with a certain name right now, and can't really remeber it being used in Chung-hyang.

The main lead didn't die. He was shot multiple times when he worked as a bodyguard. He was presumed dead by his fiance and others. What really happened was he became a rich guy after winning the poker game (he went 'all in' at the game) and just wanted to win his fiance back. I actually enjoy All In. And I really thought the two would get married in real life.

I have two to request. Please and Thank You.
(1) It was an American (??) TV show that broadcast when AZN Network was alive on Comcast. It was an Asian lady (perhaps Korean) who married a Hindu/Muslim (forgive me for not knowing). And it just talks about the clash of the two cultures (his family and her family). It was cute and hilarious and I really enjoy the show.
(2) It's an old Japanese movie that I really want to re-watch it (It was actually on Crunchyroll until the whole licensing thing happen and it's gone), another version of Sleepy Beauty. The little girl had a sleep syndrome (?) and was staying at the hospital. She's sleeping and hasn't woken up in years. Every day, a little boy would kiss her in hopes of waking her up. He does this everyday until he's in high school, I believe. She eventually wakes up and although she's a teen, her mind and abilities are that of an infant. He taught her how to walk. They went on a date to an amusement park. And I forgot what happens afterward.

I think javabeans pretty much confirmed the first one being DGCH with the pic posted above, I don't really like this drama (and I'm expecting glares right now from pretty much everyone), but Jae Hee is the only thing I liked about this drama, and not from the beginning.
Maybe it's because I watched it just recently, but I like (almost) all of the other Hong sisters' dramas, My Girl was my first kdrama, MGIAG was pure crack, and the recent MS was skinship heaven, but in DGCH I was scared by cute Uhm Tae-woong, the sassy turned meek Chun-hyang was off-putting, and don't get me strted on Chae-rin.

I always say this to those who find DGCH doesn't live up to its hype:
It's ok. :D
It really is annoying and bland and full of "recycled" plots if you watch it after a load of kdramas, especially the newer ones.
But if you watched it way back when/as a kdrama newbie, it will look crazy (in a good way).
Also, the first kdramas I watched (in order) were:
Lovers in Paris
DGCH
My Girl
I hated My Girl. I thought it recycled so many gimmicks from Chun Hyang. Wasn't until later that I learned they were written and directed by the same team.
TL;DR the order in which we watch kdramas matters.

Lol, I think order does matter, since the way you're describing My Girl is the same I'd describe DGCH, guess what you watched first, regardless of the order of the release, comes first.

Team Jun Ki all the way! They had such cute first (few) meetings.
Plus she spat rice in the casanova's face and he still laughed and liked Yoo Rin!!! Kyaaaaa~ I was sooo hoping he'd kiss her during Se Hyun's party when he caught her. *sadface*

I agree that Tae-woong was mad creepy in that drama. And I did hate the way they declawed Chun-hyang halfway through but I still love this drama. And it was not even among my early dramas. I had probably been a full fledged addict for about a year when I discovered Chun-hyang. I think the awesomeness of Chun-hyang during the first half and the charming dorkiness of Myung-rong totally won me over.

Hey, I've been reminiscing about this drama for quite a while.I think it aired around 2000 but I don't remember. It was either chinese or korean. I only remember the first few episodes but it was about a rich boy who one day loses his memory and lives and fall in love with a normal girl, soon after i think his family comes searching for him and brings him back home. He loses memories of the normal girl and lives a new lifestyle. The girl follows him and though he forgets who she is she is still persistent . I remember in this one scene, while the girl was sleeping, she had a locket with a note in it and the guy open and read the note which i think was significant.... I really want to watch this drama, hopefully you guys can help me out. Thank You in advance

#2 could be Into the Sunlight with Cha Taehyun, Jang Hyuk, Kim Haneul, and Kim Hyunjoo? Just a guess since CTH and JH play brothers who grow up in different homes. JH is a gangster. Falls in love with KHN. Plays around with KHJ to make CTH jealous. He dies in the end. Do these initial confuse you all? Hahaha.
Anyhoo, the most prolific scene from that drama for me is when they're still in high school. KJH goes to a friend's house and goes into her room but it's actually CTH's room. Walks in after taking a shower. Hoo-wee. Crushed on CTH for a while. LOL. Mind you, this was 6th grade era. XD

No.1 - Delightful Girl Chun Hyang
No.2 is Queen of of the Game starring Lee Bo Young and Joo Jin Mo I think. It aired in 2006.
She was innocent/naive, he was after her for some revenge - her father had done something to his family/father who later died - then he leaves or something and after like 5 years or so, he comes back to see that she is all changed and she goes after him for revenge this time for using her.

#1 made me try out Delightful Girl Choon Hyang since I *love* watching classics (like Autumn's Concerto for Taiwanese dramas). I'm only midway through the very first episode but I love the two leads already. The girl is aggressive but isn't your standard shouty bitchy shrew, and while I'm all for pretty boys, I like how the guy actually looks like, yknow, a guy. Also loving how they outwit each other at every turn - they have real chemistry that, unlike some dramas, stems from more than the fact that they are both very pretty and thus undoubtedly belong together. Really hope this drama keeps it up till the end.
