Kim Gyu-ri joins rom-com drama Sly and Single Again

Upcoming romantic comedy Sly and Single Again now has its rival to challenge heroine Lee Min-jung with the casting of Kim Gyu-ri (Scandal, God of War); the two ladies will fall into a love triangle with chaebol hero Joo Sang-wook (Good Doctor, TEN).

The drama is about a couple that divorces and then comes into contact when they’re both single again, and through the process of reconnecting they learn what love, support, and marriage are really all about. I’m guessing this mature growth and revelation occur after the heroine schemes to get her rich ex back because he’s rich, and after the hero schemes to get revenge on her for ditching him and then wanting him back when he’s successful. When you set the maturity bar real low at the outset, there’s nowhere to go but up?

Kim Gyu-ri will play an elegant, charismatic alpha girl who’s the daughter of the chairman of a venture capital firm. She possesses a keen insight and determination that can be intimidating, particularly given that she was “born with the disposition of a boss.” Good thing she actually is the boss’s successor, then. She comes to love the hero, which naturally puts her at odds with the sly ex-wife who keeps trying to worm her way back to his side.

It’s a premise that I could see going awry, but it sounds like they’re going for cheeky laughs and that is something Lee Min-jung is fully capable of doing when she’s on—I know she’s had a couple of flops recently, but she can be so winsome in the right project. I’ll be hoping this is the one.

Sly and Single Again will follow Miss Korea on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and premieres next month.

Shiiit, my queen! Another drama I will have to watch. I was going to pass on this drama since I already have a lot planned but nope, that won't do.

Let's all pray that Lee Min Jung will display her best performance like she did in Smile, You

She is very cute. By the name I thought it was that doll-like actress from 49 days...

this is completely off-topic, but i can't help it...i noticed that you girls counted episodes 12-13 for Prime minister and I, but they were already recapped, so i assume it's episodes 14-15 this week...and also i think I need romance is a TvN drama, not Jtbc..

I hope this scheming-go-round is good because it'd be a shame for me to miss Joo Sang-wook not being "the monster who chases monsters" because the show's a flop. And also for Lee Min Jung's sake because I like her too. Hope their chemistry is up to par.

Also hope it's better on the outset than Emergency Couple which I was excited for and am still hopeful but the comedy half of the romance does not have to imply exaggerated "funk faces".

I'm really not into silly, immature and crazy rom-coms. Yet for whatever reason I keep watching (and loving) them even if I keep swearing it's my last.

I recently saw You're Beautiful (I was living under a rock all my life, yes) and loved it way more than I'd like to admit. I really hope this has a similar feel. I have a soft spot for LMJ so I hope this works for her. I haven't seen her in anything likeable since Smile, You.

Actually what happened to LMJ ? All her efforts after Smile You are tepid and she's sort of lost her "colours". It is very tempting to give the excuse that she had the bad luck to choose the wrong projects...but it still did not quite explain how she turned out so drab and uninteresting, so unlike the glorious girl she played in Smile You.

Kim Gym-ri was good in Phungsan Dog with Yoon Kye-sang, and I vaguely recall watching her in some middling rom com movie with Im Chang-jung, but I've never had a chance to see her in a drama, though I love her voice for some reason.

I've been a Lee Min-jung fan since Smile You and she's done a few cute movies since, but I've found all of her subsequent dramas rather uninteresting (disregarding the potential of that Drama We Don't Talk About). I just hope this is finally the one she gets to shine again. ^^

She was in a So ji sub drama before. Glass Slippers and she's the antagonist. She was really good in that drama though her character is annoying.

Am I the only one who thinks this kinda sounds like Get Karl! Oh Soo-jung? I just started watching that show, so maybe that's why I'm comparing them.

I like the hero so maybe I'll tune in for this. I don't think I've ever seen her in anything.

Kim Gyu-ri = former Kim Min-sun

She's a pretty 'old' actress, or at least as long as I have watched Kdramas (13~14 yrs?). Her looks seem to have subtly undergone some 'transformation' too.

She's been in movie classics like Afrika, Momento Mori .... and dramas like Loveholic with singer Kang-ta, and Glass Slippers with So Ji-sub.
