Chilling character posters for Lee Min-ki’s thriller Monster
by girlfriday
There isn’t a whole lot of new information on Lee Min-ki’s new movie Monster, but they released character posters, and well, just take a gander. You’re welcome. This is the thriller that began shooting last May, and stars Lee Min-ki as a cold-blooded serial killer. Uh, if those hash marks tattooed into his back are for the number of people he’s killed, I’m totally going to need a nightlight and a buddy when I watch this movie.
The movie reunites Lee Min-ki with director Hwang In-ho of Chilling Romance, and he stars as “the perfect serial killer,” whatever that means. I think it means he doesn’t make mistakes, which I suppose is one definition of perfect. Co-starring is Kim Go-eun, a young actress who burst onto the scene with rave reviews for her debut in Eungyo in 2012.
She plays the older sister of a pair of girls who have no one but each other and run a tiny produce stand in the country to make a living. The unni isn’t quite right, and is known in the neighborhood as “the crazy bitch.” She’s simple but loyal, and loves her sister and will hurt anyone who messes with her. One day the younger sister ends up a loose end for the serial killer, and he murders her to keep a secret hidden.
The unni who’s already got a screw loose goes totally crazy, and grabs a knife and goes after her sister’s killer without hesitation. So it totally turns the expected setup on its head and sends her after the killer to get her revenge. Thus begins the twisted two-way chase, where he’s hunting her and she’s hunting him back, and it’s unclear who the real monster is in the story.
Monster’s release has been a bit delayed, but it plans to hit theaters sometime in March.

This looks so good! I can't wait to see this! Although I have a feeling Lee Min Ki's character will die -and I kinda think the girl will too... of course I'm just really speculating based on nothing here ^^- and ... arf, I know he's playing a serial-killer and not a very nice one apparently -are there any nice serial-killers though? unless they're serial-fashion-killers maybe?- but I've been watching Lee Min Ki's character die too many times.
Anyway, sorry about all the rumbling. Basically: the posters look cool, Lee Min Ki looks cool -as he ever not?-, the story seems interesting. Can't wait~

Too late, not waiting. Was totally scheming to get you to say that. Now I have written proof and I shall ride you as I wish! *evil mastermind at work* I'd totally kick LMK's character's ass too~ I'd take him for a ride too first though ... I think I need to reflect on my life now.

I'm voting for them killing each other. I want an epic psycho battle of stabby killy confrontations, mind games and blood. A lot of pain. I love it when weirdos meet to challenge each other. Like a superhero movie, but with the enemies being both villains. Bring it on.

Lee Min-ki's character dies so often, it will be a new experience to actually want him dead. I don't know the lady, but I hope she slices him up good.

This looks awesomely creepy! I've never seen the female lead in anything, but Lee Min-ki? He's already a slayer of women, figuratively, so why not make him a literal one? ;)

That girl may be a near-rookie, but it looks like she is enjoying this role and will play it to the hilt . . . of the knife.

such unconventional posters. there was this comparison of movie posters floating on Facebook recently, showing how generic they have become, but these have a different pose, angle, color scheme and everything.
the second one is creeeeeepy. we are not supposed to feel sorry for either of them, right? so the final standout should turn us into ancient romans watching gladiators fight totally emotionlessly. will you give thumbs up or thumbs down, to whoever falls first? no idea....

Ooh. Gotta love a girl who doesn't let herself be a victim, even if that means becoming the opposite. Sounds like a creepy cool game of cat and.. er.. cat. Cats with knives. Actually, can that be a whole other movie? >.>

And how he is just casually tattooing himself without even flinching. Badass.
And yes, in RL, a murderer would disgust and horrify me, no matter how good looking, but because it is fiction, he no doubt has a tragic backstory, and is therefore redeemable! (Even though that is thankfully not what this movie is about.) In which case it is perfectly acceptable for me to fangirl over him in the corner. Self serving logic FTW!

My money is on either they both die in each other's hands, or they both lived as a partner, serial killing to rule the world.

In Iris III, as the nation desperately seeks relief from the slaughter, we will have the ultimately confrontation of killers: these two versus the North Korean sisters, Kim So-yeon and Im Soo-hyang. Much blood will be spilled, much ass will be kicked, many names will be taken and pot-shot extras will litter the countryside.

Omg I didn't even recognise that it's him from SUFBB!!! Anyway, the story sounds rather interesting but I'm one of the biggest wusses on Earth so...anyone volunteer to watch it with me??? Preferably not in a dark room while it plays on a large screen? Though I would have to wait forever to watch Korean movies online...with subs...LOL.

News flash: in a random twist of events, the two fall in love.
My insatiable thirst of romance is making me look for it in even the most unlikely places. I am not going to watch it because I can't stomach such films, but in my mind, I will think of it as a movie about a serial killer who falls in love with a mentally challenged girl.
