Baro and Lee Ki-kwang join God’s Gift–14 Days

Okay, now I’m entirely convinced that the sub-plot of God’s Gift–14 Days is Flower Boy Next Door: The Thriller Version, because there is now a 5:1 ratio of boys to Lee Bo-young. If that’s what we’re going for, let’s just pile them on till it gets silly. What’s a race-against-time thriller without reverse-harem laughs? The new time slip drama for SBS has now added idol actors Baro (Answer Me 1994’s Binggeure) and Lee Ki-kwang (Twenty Years Old) to the cast, in two very different roles.
The drama stars Lee Bo-young as a mother whose young daughter gets kidnapped and killed. She gets the chance to go back in time two weeks before her daughter’s death and has to race to save her. Jo Seung-woo (Horse Healer) plays the private investigator who helps her, and Kim Tae-woo (That Winter, The Wind Blows) plays her lawyer husband who’s perfect on the outside but has a secret or two. And Jung Kyeo-woon (Wonderful Mama) is being courted to play a detective in the violent crimes unit who also happens to be the heroine’s first love. He’ll get sucked into the case to track down the killer before he kills.
Baro has signed on to play an interesting character–a developmentally disabled boy with the mental age of a six-year-old. He’ll be a kindergarten classmate to Lee Bo-young’s daughter, and her friend. Aw. I think he’ll do a good job with the character. He had perhaps the least conspicuous role in Answer Me 1994, but showed promise.
Lee Ki-kwang has also signed on, though his role calls for less character work since he’ll be playing an idol. He’ll be the lead in a rock band, a singer named Snake. After witnessing his brother’s suicide, he decides to fulfill his brother’s dream in his place and succeeds in becoming an idol singer. There’s no info yet on how he fits into the central mystery. Lee Ki-kwang usually plays cute and bubbly, so it’ll be interesting to see if he’ll be playing a darker character this time around.

Watching this drama for Jo Seung Woo with the added bonus of Lee Bo Young. Jo Seung Woo is the most charismatic actor of his decade.
Baro does look like he would do a good job with his role, but playing a mentally-disabled character has a lot of actors teetering towards overacting. And Baro's not that experienced in acting, so I hope for the best. Moreover, I pray B1A4's recent sajaegi controversy doesn't follow him into this project, a la the public boycotting EunJung in Five Fingers until the PD eventually dropped her (albeit T-ara was a bigger scandal.)
Ki Kwang's character sounds like he belongs in a different drama.

I don't think the sajaegi controversy will be a problem lol. Beast, 4minute and Sistar (I believe) have all had similar sajaegi rumors and they're fine. I think the international fandom is making it bigger than it actually is tbh. T-ara's scandal was on an entirely different level

Shi-on's autistic, whereas it hasn't been specified what kind of developmental disability Baro's character's been saddled with. We'll have to wait and see. Here's hoping he does his research and doesn't overact...

It wasn't autism. Autism is completely different (they are really smart, but they are really cold and unemotional persons). Shi On had, i think, savant syndrome - mental age of a child, but really smart.

Ha, lazy me. I should have said he has some sort of autism spectrum disorder.
People with ASDs aren't necessarily cold and unemotional, just that they're unable to pick up on social cues and express their feelings intuitively, amongst other things. For example, how Shi-on couldn't tell when it was inappropriate to speak up in the beginning of Good Doctor. Often, diagnosis of a particular ASD is difficult because people present with all combinations and severity of symptoms and there's no definite boundary that says "people below this level/with these symptoms are autistic and the rest are not", so it's usually up to the physician to make a judgment call.
As for savant syndrome - According to wikipedia (since I don't know much about this), savant syndrome = mental disability (eg. ASD) + prodigious talent in some area far beyond normal abilities. So his autism spectrum disorder would be the "syndrome" half of his savant syndrome, yep. As I understand it, they're not mutually exclusive. So we're both right. (:
However, not everyone with autism is super smart. The really smart ones would be more like savants, but plenty of people with autism won't ever be able to function at our level. People just focus on the smart ones most of the time. (:

If I'm not wrong Sunhwa from Secret (the girl group, not the k-drama) has been casted as Jenny, an employee at a detective’s office who started out as a con artist. I'm not too sure if she's a second lead or a supporting character though.

I think Baro will be able to play his character well enough, especially since it seems like it'll probably be more cutesy than anything else. It is interesting that there's Lee Bo Young and a cast full of men (so far).
I'm getting more interested in this drama, I want to see where they plan on going with it, especially with the addition of Lee Ki Kwang and where his character will fit into the story.

This is what I just read about Ki Kwang's character on soompi.com : "Lee Ki Kwang is set to play the character of rock group leader “Snake” who pursues his dreams after his beloved older brother, who was the first to introduce him to music, commits suicide. However, a certain twist of unforeseen events threatens to squash his dreams altogether when the shoe of a missing child is discovered in his van. Although he isn’t prosecuted as a criminal, he is still considered as a possible suspect in the case. "
The shoe aforementioned could be LBY daughter's, no?

I still want to see it, because this sorta-take on the Two Weeks premise interested me...but now it looks like it'll be interesting in the wrong ways, like one of those fantastically horrible dramas like Dr. Jin (though this one will probably look slicker....and have better actors...and scoring...and plot). I mean really...what's with all the dudes? Granted, it's a happy conundrum, but maybe this is the thriller version of Three Dads, One Mom...or do we include Lee Ki-kwang to make four dads? I'm scared to be optimistic...

I was thinking about skipping this, but this article just changed my mind. Now, I have to see it for Baro and Ki-kwang. Love both of them!
But now I'm wondering how this will all connect to the little girl. Maybe Ki-kwang's character's brother was actually killed by the same person? Really interested now. Hope this show does not disappoint!

Something like Bel Ami? She dates a different guy each episode and each one teaches her and important life lesson and gives her a clue to her daughter's whereabouts. Hah, hope not, just sayin'.

Uh.... Okay..... Aside from all these flower boys (omg, so many), is there news about the kidnapped daughter that the plot revolves around? Or do they plan to have her faceless and basically show angst!Lee Bo Young when they narratively refer to her?

okaaay they have loots of idols...! but idk... Baro gives me that vibe Hoya gave me before Reply 1997... like he'll do well as an actor but yeah.. kikwang... hmm in me too flower, he played apoliceman who was an idol look alike.. hes always an idol in some way and acts cute... I guess he wont in this one.
