Kim Haneul courted to be Jung Woo-sung’s co-star
by girlfriday
It’s still unconfirmed and “in negotiation stages,” but Kim Haneul is being courted to play opposite Jung Woo-sung in his new movie Forget Me Not (or just plain Don’t Forget Me), which sounds like a Memento-esque psychological drama about the slow unraveling of a man who suddenly has amnesia, and has to figure out why. That’s pretty up there on my list of horrifying situations I never want to be in, mostly because I saw Memento.
The movie will be written and directed by Lee Yoon-jung, who did a 25-minute version of the basic premise as a short film starring Kim Jung-tae (Goddess of Marriage) for the Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival. Jung Woo-sung has signed on as both producer and star for the feature length version, and Kim Haneul is reportedly considering it favorably, though there are rumors she’s considering a drama as well.
In the short, a man calls the police to report his own disappearance. He finds himself alone in an apartment and has no memory of who he is or why he’s there, and no clues to point him toward an identity. When he steps out, he runs across a woman who seems to know him, but when he tries to get closer, she disappears. Obviously the feature film will have to have more plot, but it sounds like a mystery/psychological thriller, and the pairing should be a good one if it goes through.
Forget Me Not plans to start shooting early in the new year.

My brother and I watched 9 episodes of Athena so far over Thanksgiving break. Not my favorite drama - kind of hard to follow, and ?HOW? is it related to Iris and Iris 2, exactly?? But he is handsome.

Am I the only one who observed that Kim Ha-neul's most used mannerism is biting her lips almost everytime in the valuable screen... Eg:
Ottokhae?!! (annoyed) *bites her lips*
Where is he? *bites her lips*
(worried, problem just said to her) *bites her lips*
I have noticed it back then in Stained Glass and Romance, then I was utterly shocked it wasn't gone or improved in some way. She still does that in A Gentleman's Dignity.
Same acting. I was convincing myself she was playing different characters.

She's a hit or miss for me. She really got on my nerves in a Gent's Dignity. However, this sounds interesting. I'd probably watch this.

I feel like this is a common thing with Kim Eun-seok heroines, I normally love Park Shin-hye but in Heirs I'm starting to get annoyed by her.

Quite interestingly, I liked Kim Suna's character in City Hall (as Mayor Shin Mi-rae) and Kim Jung-eun's character in Lovers in Paris (Kang Tae-young). :-)
But I quite agree with you in the case of Seo Yi-soo and Cha Eun-sang.

Yeah her character and Meahri annoyed me to no end in AGD. A woman in her thirties acting 13 and a woman in her twenties acting 4.

I became an instant Nolan fangirl after watching Memento, so gripping and heartbreaking. One of those movies I'll never forget even if I want to.
I'm on-board even though I'm not that familiar with Lee Yoon-jung.

DramaBeans how come you guys haven't mentioned anything about Kim Hyun Joong's new series coming out after Pretty Man (Bel Ami)..it will be titled "Age of Feeling"
As for this review of the movie, I definitely loved Memento, one of my all time favorite movies for Guy Peirce, so hopefully the korean version will be just as awesome :)

They did a few times since April when Lee Jun-ki was considering the lead role. Do a search on Age of Feeling or Kim Hyun Joong.
If this was a Korean version of Memento I'd pick Park Hae il as leading man. He is my Korean Guy Peirce and more.

kiara btw lol I also became a Christopher Nolan fan after memento, my all time favorite for him would have to be The Dark knight. I didn't care much for Inception, don't know why, the story never did it for me. But, heath ledger in that movie as the joker was phenomenal.

Loved the Dark Knight, Nolan knows how to cast the right actors for his movies except, perhaps for Katie Holmes in Batman Begins.
I remember the outrage from the fans when Heath was cast as the joker. No one thought he could top Jack Nicholson but he nailed it and gave the best performance of his career. Jack who? lol
TDK will always be my favorite out of the Batman franchise but I'd love to see The Riddler next. Sadly I think Nolan is moving on to other projects and Christian Bale is out too :(.

Woo-Sungeeeeee! I love that he'll be paired with KHN. I don't know what was going on with GD but I usually think she's a great actress. That whole drama, though pretty much stank for me so I dropped it. I'm looking forward to this but I still hope he'll try something lighter soon. He said he'd like to try a comedy some day, didn't he?

ACK. Memento was traumatizing for me. Maybe because we watched it in english/lit class in high school haha. Also I'm just not a fan of dark movies. And I really like Kim Ha Neul. ERGH. Why must she pick such dark stuff? I was probably one of the few people who liked her in AGD (not the entire series...because yes her character was crap, but ya know, the premise was cute).

Is it just me, or whenever there's "kidnapped, found himself in an apartment, no clues why" my mind goes instantly to Old Boy? But yeah, I get the Memento feel because there's amnesia in the mix... It's just that Memento and Old Boy are totally different from each other. Heh.
