Queen of Office was actually not bad, and I had fun watching it. But it was also a remake of the Japanese version, and though fun to watch, it is not one that stuck with me for long.
I you like those type shows, take a look at Doctor-X and Doctor-X 2 on Drama.net - I think that show is better than Queen of the Office.

I love Daimon :)
I would have liked to see at least a couple of the Japanese dramas in the polls, but the big problem with j-dramas seems to be that subs are much less available than k-dramas. Drama.net seems to be the only site that is subbing most of them.

Is it just me, or has this year in K-dramaland been fairly disappointing? At the end of the year, I am usually able to name 3 to 4 dramas that are either good or at least highly addictive. This year I'm really struggling to name more than 2.:( Master's Sun managed to hold my attention/interest longer than the rest. I have to acknowledge that it had a lot of weaknesses and some WTF moments, but as a romcom it worked (for me). Some dramas had promise, which then fizzled out very quickly, whereas others were just disappointing from the start. This is all IMHO, of course, but if anyone feels the same, do let me know.

Not sure if I am getting jaded with mediocre dramas, or if there really were fewer good ones this year. Just for me, I about 6 to 8 really good ones, but most of the rest fade into obscurity. As I think back on my 15 to 20 favorites for the year, I see that almost half of them are Japanese or Taiwan dramas.
Maybe I am just burned out on the way to often repeated chaebol themes that seem to dominate k-dramas - while a few of my favorites for the year may have had a chaebol or prince in it, it was not the dominant theme.

I also find some girls in drama are too childish for their age. When I watch Reply 1994, the main girl does not seem like she is 20 years old. She behaves like a teenager,,, I do not understand it. I am afraid that I am the only one feels that way....
I see their chaebol/prince obsession in K drama. I can handle that as far as their story is interesting. The only interesting drama currently on show that has Prince/cess theme is King's daughter Boo Baek Hyung to me. It is getting better and better. I usually skip some scenes when I watch dramas but with this drama I cannot skip because each scene has some importance. Though this is a historical drama, we cannot tell how it would end for the real princess whose identity was stolen by her beloved little sister.

King's Family is still airing so it;s tough for that to compete against a drama that's already completed. But I agree that King's Family is really good-atleast up to where it is now-episode 24. could always go south from that point....
as far as the saturday/sunday family dramas, I thought Scandal would get more votes.

I wonder everyone who said that this year is disappointed year or people who said there is no one interesting kdrama this year, are they really watch enough genre drama to give a judgement like that? You can give opinion but to say something like there is no great drama or this year is bad, it’s not just an opinion anymore, more like you give judgement which you’ve watched at least 60% from total kdrama aired in this year, then you can really give your judgement! Isnt???
for kdrama that airing in 2013, I am only watch this : TWTWB, cruel city/heartless city, monstar, the queen’s classroom, master’s sun, secret and few eps of yawang /queen of ambition. I cant say if this year better than last year, but for me this year is definitely much more interesting since I got to watched many different genre with refreshing plot than ever. Compare to another year, this year is one of my most favorite, all of dramas I watched have good quality and proud of them.
Sometime drama you watch, tough you like or even love it, dont have good or satisfy quality (writing, acting, directing, music, and else), but this year I cant say I am satisfy with the dramas I watched and I love.
Cruel city is definitely one of the best drama of the year, the weakness is the lead female, dont know if it’s writer or actress’s fault (I like NGR btw), and the final (I dont hate the final but it’s felt kinda weak for me compare to the beginning). Parksa adeul or dr. Son or jung shi hyun is best character too for, as well as, jung kyung ho win best actor in my book.
Master’s sun is absolutely my most favorite drama of the year, funnily, opposite with cruel city. The beginning isnt that really strong but as you watching ep by ep, it’s become strong and the ending is just full of wonderful feeling :D I’ve watched many drama about love and shipped some OTPs too, but master’s sun is the first drama that I felt like I am watching a real story love between GHJ n SJS :D
The more I rewatch master’s sun, the more I got feeling that they acted for real.... so that I falling in love so hard with this drama, they give me wonderful feeling, the pure and genuine happiness, so natural and realistic, that I dont think I cant love another drama more than master’s sun :D
JB and GF, thanks for this poll, I enjoyed reading your descriptions for every nominations, but kinda disappoint there is no Cruel City/heartless city in bess kiss category, I really think it’s best kiss scene this year in all dramas I’ve watched but well, I am happy to see Ms’s lead tough the kiss isnt that intimate or passionate but for sure, the feelings is strong, genuine and touching...
Kinda difficult for to decide best villain that fun to hate, I love and hate at same time the villains in Secret and Heartless City! Damn, their acting is so good and they are gray, not totally black! But well, maybe they arent that fun to hate T-T but why the pic of teacher ma is there while she isnt one of nominations?
And seeing those drama nominated for underrated, I feel sad for them, they’re great drama, tough I dont watch them all, I am agree most of them specially “the end of the world” are deserve to get more appreciations
Happy to see my Shim Ha Na from The queen of classroom is nominated for breakthrough perfomance, tough she dont get high vote, still I am happy she get nomination :D
Kinda sad you didnt include Tae Gong Shil in category of favorite character... She is so different than most...

I actually think the villain in Yawang (Queen of Ambition) was the worst. The villains in many others were just bad people, and we knew they were bad. But the witch in Queen of Ambition - well, was there ANYONE that she did not betray, murder, or destroy (or at least try to) - all the while acting sweet and normal?

sorry, my comment is too long...
Kinda sad you didnt include Tae Gong Shil in category of favorite character… She is so different than most of kdrama heroine. Adore Gong Hyo JIn for portrayed her incredibly. I adore many great actresses in korea but I dont think there will be better actress than GHJ to portrayed TGS as awesome as her. Best acting performance by female actress in my book for this year.
A little sad seeing “little sun” dont get highest vote in any category she is nominated but well.. I shouldnt complain too much since MS has gotten much love here... and cant wait to see the final result! All of DB’s writers, fighting!!!

LOL--these polls had me laughing so hard tears came to my eyes! You guys are hilarious (I suspect that's why everyone enjoys hanging out here so much).
I was surprised with some of the results though. I never would have guessed Master's Sun over I Hear Your Voice. Very interesting. Hrm. Personally, I think IHYV was a better overall drama than MS--only because it was more consistent. MS kind of went off the rails a bit at the end there (thanks, weird extension!), and IHYV remained focused and fairly tightly plotted despite the extension.
Also surprised more props weren't given to Monstar, that was a consistent drama through and through.
And I can't believe Nail Shop Paris even got a mention on any of these polls. That should have its own category: Most WTF ending to an otherwise boring drama.

An aside to the polls and comments here. It's official, Korea now ranks 111th in gender equality - down from 108th last year: "Korea ranked 111th out of 136 countries in this year's World Economic Forum rankings for gender equality, down another three notches from an already dismal 108th last year."

I Hear Your Voice - love the puppy love...laugh-out-loud moments at female lead antics, giggle at puppy's adoration, warm fuzzies and tears with Best Mom ever...

2013 is Lee Jong Suk's year. Favorite Character was so hard. I voted for Su Ha, but I so wanted to vote for Bo Na.
I feel that every year, the currently-airing dramas always have the advantage because that's what's on people's minds, so for this year, Heirs and Answer Me 1994.
For Biggest Waste of Talent, was Level 7 Civil Servant just supposed to be "Level 7 Civil Servant"? Like the whole cast?
I think Secret is missing for Underrated Drama.
For Best Abs, does my vote for Heirs go to Lee Min Ho or Kim Woo Bin? (I prefer the latter.)
For Mane of Shame, I voted Sung Joon, but gawd, Yoon Eun Hye had the most awful hair in Mi Rae's Choice.
I loved the First-World Problems. Everyone on that list deserves a slap, honestly.

Very surprised that Master's Sun was this popular in reflection to the results. While it was a slightly cute and had the rom-com element played well, the story lost its initial spark and the drama kind of died down at the end.
I find it hilarious, however, that Heirs is leading in so many categories yet winning so much for most overrated drama haha

I love this time of year! There are still so many dramas I need to watch though. The top 3 on my 'To-Do' list includes Heartless City, Master's Sun, and Empress Ki.
Of the dramas I did see, The Suspicious Housekeeper, Can We Get Married, and That Winter, The Wind Blows were my faves.
Heirs was a hot-mess! I watched 3 episodes of and that was plenty for me. Same old, same old. I am not a Lee Min Ho fan girl, but I do think he is a superb actor. Sadly, he has made some questionable choices since the AMAZING City Hunter and I really hope he gets his shit together. LMH is so much better than Heirs, the poor man's Boys Over Flower and biggest disappointment of the year BY FAR as far as I'm concerned.
Best k-drama of the year for me was The Suspicious Housekeeper. It's not often you see a drama with a such a compelling, truly ORIGINAL story line and great performances by everyone. Korea has the greatest child actors in the universe and Choi Ji Woo has never been better. In my opinion, The Suspicious Housekeeper is one of the all-time greats. LOVED IT!

@javabeans:
A correction is in order for Most Dysfunctional Relationship:
SECRET: "Why does it hurt ME more when I hit her?"
I don't believe there was any hitting of the main female character, Yoo-Jung. Unless you're referring to the beatdown she got on her first day in prison. I doubt you were referring to the 2nd lead character Se-Yeon, who was hit by her (unseen) politician father.
Shouldn't it be?: "Why does it hurt ME more when I see my substitute driver hurting?"

I voted Jang Ok Jang for the most underrated drama. I mean one can even see from the lack of mention here that it really deserves much more attention given the awesome performance by Yoon Ah In and Kim Tae Hee.
The entire drama speaks of a lot of emotional war and they both really nailed it for their first sageuk. I guess becos it's sageuk that's why people choose to skip it. I'm not a historical drama person but somehow JOJ managed to keep me watching till the end. I was pretty amazed by the chemistry between them, especially Yoon Ah In given his previous projects wasn't even this challenging. Thumbs up for JOJ for those hesitating, watch it! u ,ight just be surprised!

Popular drama always not good drama. Started watching Heirs 2 day back and finished it. All i can say its as bland drama as it can get. Beginning few episode good then went to bland mode.
Except Looking at PSH , this drama is waste of money , time...bad is director and story telling.

I see all the drama in this year , I think seriously all dramas are bad. It is about pick your best out of all bad ones. Kong Hyo-Jin can act with ugly face. Greatest love was success even she was lead actress meaning she can hold one end with just acting alone. But i am watching for lead actress cuteness and charm.
I was expecting lot from heirs with PSH leading..but rest of story cast , direction writing is bland.
Flowboy next door should have more peeping ... lead actor failed to impress is one of the flaw there.
I have not watched one historical drama because i find production quality and acting in those drama is abysmal and awful. Its because it cost lot to make historical drama.
2013 bad year for k drama.

After going through the favourite character section I thought that was the male one and there would be a separate women poll. Guess not.
I've got to say I'm really disappointed in Dramabeans' obvious male bias. Two characters for one male actor? You seriously couldn't fit more women in there? The most obvious one being Jang Hye Sung being omitted for Par Su Ha (played by Jong Suk who has another character of his nominated..)

I would like to See OST award for each year. Reason being thats best way to find good OST. Music taste is different from people to people. i like uptempo happy song. As i do not undertsand korean language , its more about tune and voice which has good contrast.
My OST list so far
1. Hotstuff ( DAVICHI)
2. Always - TREE BICYCLE
3. Never say goodbye - Nesty & mario
4. Oon Myung Eh Jang Nan by MC Jinri feat. HaHa
5. Moonlight - W&Whale
There are many ..these are few comes to mind so far. My interest is uptempo with clean music...
