Shin Mina and Jo Jung-seok cast as newlyweds

Wouldn’t they make an adorable couple? It’s still unconfirmed, but Shin Mina (Arang and the Magistrate) and Jo Jung-seok (You’re the Best, Lee Soon-shin) might be headed down the aisle… for a movie, that is. They’re being courted to headline a remake of the 1990 film My Love, My Bride, the modern trendy rom-com that starred Choi Jin-shil and Park Joong-hoon as a pair of bickering newlyweds.

The remake will be directed by The President’s Barber’s Im Chan-sang, and will be rewritten to a present-day setting to keep it in line with the very of-the-times feel of the original. I wouldn’t mind a throwback version as a straight remake either, but I suppose this fits the bill better. The story follows the romance of college sweethearts who fall in love, get hitched, and then learn that there’s a lot more to this happily ever after business than advertised.

It’s about all the petty jealousies, fights, regrets at past loves gone unfulfilled, and struggles with chasing or losing your dream, all in the name of love. It’s described as a story about two people who constantly say the words “I love you,” but find out they’re far from knowing what their daily declaration to one another really means. I can see these two being endearing no matter how much they fight, so it should be a great match-up.

The casting stories give varying accounts of how done or not done the deal is, but with Shin Mina just wrapping her movie with Park Hae-il and Jo Jung-seok in shoots now for his movie with Hyun Bin, I don’t think they’d be crazy for taking a break. Or five.

My Love, My Bride hopes to finalize casting and start shooting by the end of the year.

OMG OMG OMG !!!. They would most definitely make a cute couple. I really do hope that they end up doing this film together, I like the premise of the film and the whole discovering that there is more to marriage than meets the eyes. In need of a new rom-com to watch and if this happens then it'll be No.1 on my list purely for the leads.

After reading the title, I thought it was for a drama...

Anyways, what I'm really wishing right now is a for a re-team up of Shin Mina & Lee Jun Ki for a modern rom-com drama. LJK said that he is gearing up for a rom com for his next project.

Hope that these SM movies will do well on the box office :)

He asked fans on his twitter (w/c is in Hangul, thank God for JG Family FB page for the translations) what would like they (or us) to see for his next project and lots had been requesting for a rom com. After all those action packed dramas we've seen, he should really try it out. And also he said it on his recent interviews.

I would actually die of happiness if those two reunited onscreen, this time for something modern.

I mean, they're flawless in sageuk mode but just imagine how cute they'd be if they were in modern times when skinship is far easier to come by....

Oh, I completely agree! I just love Jung Woo soooooo much. He is by far the best thing about Reply 1994 and was the only character I cared about by the end of YTBLSS. He has such an easy charisma that makes him beyond loveable. And the abs don't hurt either ;)

You do have to feel a bit of sympathy for these actors who toil away in obscurity for so long before getting their big breaks (like JJS as well). But I think it makes them better actors in the long run, and they don't squander their opportunities like kids who have known nothing but success.

I'm very excited for the 2 news on this page:
1) LJK's doing a rom com
2) JJS & SMA doing a movie together.
If they are, this means JJS will be doing his second movie.
Does this mean he'll be in movies only? (It is less taxing than being in a drama due to its hectic schedule).
I do hope he'll do dramas too, to see be able to see him longer on screen.

To come to Dramabeans and the first thing to read being Jo Jung-seok's name TOTALLY made my day...!
And I love Shin Mina as well, so I'm reeeeeeally happy about this! <3

But to be honest, I was also wishing for a drama... Cause then I don't have to wait so long before I can watch it (want to watch the Face Reader So. Bad.) aaand of course it lasts longer, haha. (Not that that's always a good thing, but... well...)

But I'll take what I get <3
(But seriously, I so so so SO want JJS in a good mini-series as the male lead... Please, o mighty drama gods, make it happen! I'll sacrifice whatever you want me to!)

Of course I'd be thrilled if this was a drama, but considering SMA only does one drama every other year anyway and has works more in movies/openly expressed a preference for movies, this isn't a bad deal at all.
