Nam Sang-mi joins Cha Tae-hyun in Slow Video
by javabeans
Nam Sang-mi has officially signed on to play Cha Tae-hyun’s co-star in the human comedy movie Slow Video, which is great news because I love both actors and think they’d do well together — they’ve both got a warm, relatable charm and a great vibe for feel-good stories. (This casting news was previously teased back when Cha signed on, but was only just recently confirmed.)
Slow Video is the new project by Hello Ghost director Kim Young-tak; that 2010 movie starred Cha Tae-hyun as a suicidal man who’s haunted by a cadre of quirky ghosts. It was a hit at the box office, so there’s certainly interest to see whether the director-actor reteaming can replicate that film’s success.
What’s particularly annoying about this promo, however, is that they refuse to give us ANY idea of the story involved. Not one hint, not one character description. All they’ve offered up is the genre (human comedy, which is to say heartwarming dramedy), preferring instead to harp on the fact that this is the second project backed by a subsidiary of 20th Century Fox, Fox International Productions; Shin Ha-kyun’s thriller Running Man was the first. I’m sure that’s a big deal to some people, but as a person who likes movies for the stories and not the name of the studio putting them out, it means piffle. Give me something to get excited about, people.
Slow Video has already begun filming, but Nam Sang-mi has been at work wrapping up her weekend drama Goddess of Marriage, and will join the film production immediately after she’s done with drama duties. No rest for the weary.

Co-starring Nam Sang-mi, Oh Dal-soo, Go Chang-suk and Jin Gyeong, “Slow Video” will center on a man named Jang-boo (Cha), who has eyes that see everything slower than normal people. Nam will portray Jang-boo’s childhood friend named Soo-mi.

Whoa, I hope NSM doesn't pass out from going into another project soon after. Idk, maybe it's because I'm watching Goddess of Marriage rn and her character is experiencing so much stress, therefore she experiences stress O.o

Oh man. Even now fully knowing the plot, having watched Hello Ghost multiple times, it still gets me every single time. I'm looking forward to this new project. One of Hello Ghost's weaknesses was that the setup felt super slow, with various plot lines floating around until the last 20 minutes where everything fit together so quickly it gave you whiplash. On the other hand, I was expecting something similar to Speedy Scandal. I love Cha Taehyun and I have faith in him and his choice of recent projects!

Looks like it's a Kdrama version of Elvis making 'Blue Hawaii' back in the 60s. That's the one where he sings "Can't Help Falling in Love With You." Does Cha Tae-hyun have a good voice?

Haha, love the shot of CTH and director Kim Young-tak together at the end.
Every time I see KYT, it reminds me of him getting kidnapped by CTH in the 1N2D Yang Yang Friendship special episode! Looking forward to their next project!

Maybe they don't really have much of a plot yet :D
I do pay some attention about who is backing it, but only because more backing might mean a little better production. That alone won't save a bad show, but it might improve a 3 to 4 star show.

I digs Cha's outfit. Ha. I like the casting. That pic of Nam Sangmi doesn't really look like her though. She'll do great. And suddenly I feel like rewatching 'Bad Family'.

I feel.bad for Sang mi because her character as "ji hye" in GoM -my 1st time watching one of herdramas- rubs me the wroooooong way! Like thats the character ive hated the most in dramaland! Im not even kidding! No character, no emotions, ughh... I just hope she ets a better role this time.
