Chun Jung-myung and Kim Min-jung’s new rom-com
by girlfriday
Boy am I happy this turned out to be a comedy. Based on the early descriptions of the new Chun Jung-myung (Man of Honor) and Kim Min-jung (Third Ward) movie Queen of the Night — a husband discovers that his perfect wife has a not-so-perfect past and becomes obsessed with finding out the truth — it really could’ve gone either way. But now that I know it’s going for laughs, I’m in.
The pair of actors reunited for the project, after co-starring in the 2005 drama Fashion ’70s. It’s the directorial debut of the writer of Wonderful Radio, and stars Chun Jung-myung as a scaredy cat sad sack character, described as the most sensitive, anxious, neurotic man around. I love this. What a cute character for him.
His biggest success in life is when he meets Kim Min-jung’s character and falls head over heels for her, and manages to win her heart and marry her. She’s the textbook dream wife: sweet, good-natured, a gourmet cook, the kind of wife mothers-in-law would kill for. They live happily this way for some time in ignorant bliss, but one day hubby happens across a picture of a woman who looks a lot like his wife, doing some un-wife-like things, and it makes him suspicious of her past.
It starts to drive him crazy (which I imagine isn’t very hard if he’s so uptight and neurotic) and he begins this insane top secret undercover operation to dig into his wife’s past, to find out just how tawdry her backstory really is. Based on the trailer it looks like she was just a party girl, though it’s really the prim and proper husband that sells the panic and horror of his wife’s wild child past. Is it wrong that I’m looking forward to watching him unravel?
Queen of the Night premieres October 17.

Cute premise! I can see that he's losing the internal battle by the way his eyes look. Why do we love it when men suffer?

haha was just about to post a comment similar to this.
Why is it that i can always make time for a 16-24 episode drama and yet i can never shell out about 2 hrs for a movie?
Will never understand myself.
It's like when you watch a really good show and tell someone to watch it, but then they're all "i'm too busy to start that show" and then you see them watching a bunch of other shows.

Oh thank god it's not just me :D
The number of movies I "have watched" by now is endless and I keep putting them off telling me I'm going to watch them "tomorrow". Which never happens :P
And then sometimes it happens that I watch dramas that are horrible but I stick to them anyway but afterwards I'm like: I could have watched SO MANY movies instead of the episodes of that drama (YTBLSS I am looking at you!!!)^^

Sounds like a real hoot. But, is what she is doing with her eyes after taking that drink natural? Or has she had her lids cut too many times? She looks like a good, lively actress,

The movie looks interesting and Chun Jun Myung looks so adorable! Funny thing is, Kim Min Jung always reminds me of a sweet, good-natured aunt of mine... I guess I'll think of her when I watch this lol

The premise kinda reminds me of a Bollywood movie called "A Match Made By God" (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi). xD

Oh gosh', my list of movies to watch is going to explode --'
Subbers, do your work XD. Seriously, so thankful toward everyone spreading the korean culture. I don't know how the hell I would be able to watch all these movies/dramas/TV shows ... etc.
The movie looks very fun. In a sense, it reminded me of Dancing Queen because the wife used to be a dancing queen (duh) and wanted to be a singer but became an housewife. The difference is that the husband knows.

Haven't watched her in any funny character (except Third Ward, though it's not even half comedy), usually I watch her melo. She's good eventhough not considered pretty for some people, and I like her. Will try to watch it some times later. :)

PIE looks even more adorable with those dark framed glasses than usual. And, it's rare to see Korean actors sporting Canadian flag emblazoned clothes. As a Canadian fan, that's cool to see :)
