Lee Shi-young set to join the boys of God’s Play
by javabeans
Lee Shi-young (Webtoon, Wild Romance) is reportedly considering joining the gambling movie God’s Play, which has already assembled a solid lineup with actors Jung Woo-sung (Padam Padam), Lee Beom-soo (History of a Salaryman), Choi Jin-hyuk (Gu Family Book), Ahn Sung-ki (Broken Arrow), and Kim In-kwon (Gwanghae, Quick).
That is one fine casting list. What are you waiting for, lady, TAKE IT. Especially since she would be the lone female character in the cast (I repeat: TAKE IT). It’s no Ocean’s Eleven, but that is still one good ratio.
Based on a novel of the same name, the film is set in the world of baduk gambling, though “revenge mission” may be a more exciting way to frame the plot than “chess games.” The movie starts off with our lead character, played by Jung Woo-sung, stuck at rock bottom and follows his rise as baduk player, with Lee Beom-soo playing antagonist (and Choi Jin-hyuk helping out on the villain’s side). If she signs on, Lee Shi-young would play a sexy femme fatale who’s also a master baduk player. Friend or foe? Or both?
God’s Play is scheduled to begin filming this month. Tick tock. (What are you waiting for? Doooo eeeeet.)

One of my favorite ladies taking a new role. With one of my favorite gentlemen. Yet again. Oh yes. Yes! YEEEEES!..... Excuse me, I need a moment.
Ok, I'm calm. I am really hoping she'll take it. She's played kooky and cheerful characters a lot, but there are plenty of "cute" actresses around. She debuted quite late in the game for that to last, so she will have to try other things too, if she wants to work for a long time. I'm glad she's trying other genres and hopefully slowly avoiding getting pigeonholed.
So yes, please. Do it, woman. I need you to do it and I'll watch the shi..nui out of it!

I love this girl, and I hope she takes this role indeed.

I am wary of sequels, but I really wanted to see her character picking locks and probably being insane while doing it. It was a shame she didn't get to do any actual stealing in the movie. She was still a fun character, but it would have been nice to see Lee Si Yeong participate in the action too.
Well, maybe she'll kick all the guys' behinds in baduk in this one. Not quite the same, but it would be lovely to see. They do desperately need a woman in the cast, poor bunch of lonely men. A proper woman to participate in the badukey stuff and revenge goodness.
I can't say I see Lee as a femme fatale at the moment, but I really do want to see how she does such a role.

Exciting news! She has an aura of intelligence and competence about her, which is one of the reasons I'm partial to her. (But she can do a good job of playing a cute bird-brained character, too.) For this role, you want someone shmexy, preferably with a twinkle in her eye as she vanquishes her opponent-- she'd be great!

I assume you're talking about her acting, because the makers of this are not related to that.
I've seen a few roles of hers and that was definitely the most annoying one. The series completely lost it after the midpoint too.
I have not seen her 'Killer Toon' role yet, so I can't vouch for her portrayal and skills when it comes to dark characters, but it is definitely not a good idea to judge her from 'Wild Romance'. If I had seen that work of hers first, I probably would have stayed away too.
There are a lot of actors/actresses I'd have stayed away from, the way some roles require them to act. Kdrama is a scary industry.

She has never shied away from trying out new things and going BIG.
Girl can box and make us laugh and make us cry. I love her. She's got to do this. She would have a blast with these guys.

it was a long period of time between watching Birth of the Rich and Poseidon and I did not quite recognized her at first as the characters she played in both dramas were so different.
Then came along Wild Romance which was quite a hoot! Yeah, yeah - the plot got kinda mangled somehow but I still enjoyed her and discovered Lee Dong Wok and 2 great OSTs.
Cannot bring myself to watcg Webtoon movie as i am NOT a horror genre fan.
So LSY - fighting - please join movie pali, pali!

Couldn't stand her characters or over-acting in Wild Romance nor Poseidon. If she is good, I haven't come across that yet. Love the list of actors in this. Big Conflict.

She can act.Wild Romance's disaster was all the writer's fault. However it wasnt the worst.
But but I have to repeat JB's cry "take it woman".You'll be frady5to refuse. The script must be good if so many good actors are in it. But with her skills will she be the one giving fighting advice to the men? This is one movie where she has so many sexy oppas. And one sexy dongsaeng.

I am not a big fan of Korean gambling themes, as they nearly always get it wrong (especially when playing Poker or other Western games). This might be more interesting, as it apparently sticks only with baduk, which is much more traditional with a 3,000 year history.
On the other hand, I fear that it may just turn into yet another revenge plot. We will see.

How come this girl has more movies than Park Shin Hey. Wasn't her first role in drama Love A Thousand not long ago? Something fishy!

Just out of curiosity, I checked. Park has done 5 movies, Lee has done 6. Park has been in 20+ works and gotten awards while Lee has been in 13 or so, with no special awards.
I understand wanting to support your favorite actress, but do check the facts and the vast difference in popularity (Park is way more popular) beforehand. Supporting the actors/actress you like does not include offending other actors whenever they get work.

Luv LSY...she's different and talented. Unlike so many idol or A-list actresses who can't act, but have had and continue to get roles opposite great/popular actors. Take the role LSY.
