Posters, new teaser and stills for Master’s Sun

Things are looking up for Hong sisters rom-com horror drama Master’s Sun, with spooky posters and an eerie but funny teaser featuring Gong Hyo-jin as a heroine who can’t sleep, and spends her waking hours barely living and running from ghosts. She has quite the array of odd jobs too, because her ghost-seeing ability is always getting her fired from one job or another, and she goes from once being called “the big sun” (taeyang, a play on her name, Ms. Tae) to a solitary girl with constant dark circles, who shuts herself off from the rest of the world.

The stills show her myriad of part-time night jobs, from taxi driver to gosiwon housekeeper to shopping mall janitor. The last is where she meets our hero So Ji-sub, king of shopping malls. I love that she just falls into his arms in the teaser as she croons, “I want to sleep next to you,” followed by, “I want to touch you.”

And of course, she literally gets the line: “I see dead people.” She tells him about her ability to see ghosts (or affliction, as the case may be) and he challenges her to show them those things she sees, punctuated by a snarky, “You. Bitch.”

Urg, we’re going to root for her to throw a pie in his face from the start, aren’t we? I do like that he’s playing up the assy boss with gusto though, so hopefully the fun will be in watching all that crumble over this woman everyone else calls crazy.

The hijinks begin August 7.

I love the mirror posters: slightly creepy, slightly Romantic (in an Edgar Allen Poe sense, not in a relationship sense).
And they say a lot about the show without using any words.

I get goosebumps and freak out at the end of IHYV too! The teasers music and spooky darkness and random ghost-like (sadako) figures scared the crap outta me at night. But I really am looking forward to this drama since i love the actors and actresses... i just hope its not TOO scary and that it stays as ROM-COM.

on the contrary, hope theyll dial up the scary, undercut by some comedic moment, kinda like addams family or dark shadow. Gotta be a fresh change of tone from traditional kdrama.

AATM is the only ghost-theme-drama that i could watch till the end. I hope this one has the same tone with it, contains ghosts but not so scary yet able to amaze us *crossing fingers*

Just from stills and teaser alone i could tell, and that so ji sub and gong hyo jin are going to have some really nice chemistry.
If it weren't for IHYV i would be so impatient waiting for this show. We need more horror rom-coms.

Hmmm . . . female second lead rival stuck with one grim expression, as usual.

After watching Yoon Se-ah in both 'The City Hall' and 'Gu Family Book', I am thinking that female second lead roles should be reserved for actresses who've had so much eye surgery they can't blink or change expression properly. I would much rather see actresses like Yoo In-na smiling and emoting.

Some actresses get a ton of work done and can still emote (Park Shi-yeon etc.) but overall, natural does seem to work better for actresses.

(now praying that Yoo Inna doesn't do anything to her face as she gets older...)

Yikes. Creepy dress. However, since K-horror and J-horror movies like to have the undead slap their cold, clammy hands on people's shoulders, it could be a defensive measure. It would be cool if she were secretly the Seoul rep for Ghostbusters.

LOL. Jung Ga Eun isn't the 2nd lead, it's Kim Yoo Ri (Cheongdamdong Alice). Jung Ga Eun's role is describe as a comedic one, maybe like Gil Da Ran's co-teacher in Big *forgot her name* :)

OT but I crave that pink tshirt she's wearing when she goes over to poke at him. Is there nothing Gong Hyo-jin can't pull off wearing?

And this looks MUCH better than the mess that was Big, but right now, my only hope is that it's a worthy followup to I Hear Your Voice (and that SJS in Hottie mode can soothe my Lee Jong-seok-as-puppy withdrawal cravings )

I thought it wouldn't be that scary because it is a rom com and all until I saw the ghosts ... Oh gosh', why didn't I close my eyes. Scared the shit out of me especially that I just finished to watch the latest episode of RM with the red blooded letters in the mirror. WHAT'S GOING ON ??? XD.

But seriously, I'm excited. It has been a longtime that I anticipate a drama from national broadcast. My latest jams were from cable drama so I really hope this is going to be sooo good that I will forget that I ain't got a life LOL.

Yeah I saw this right after RM and the combination was a bit horrifying. Plus I was reading Coraline so that's like a triple dose of scary. But the preview is definitely interesting and I love the heading picture so I might check this out.

I just watched RM too! Alone at home, while it poured outside and the house was all dark and scary. It wasn't such a good idea to watch the teaser now lol.

I'm a wuss so I'm going to watch all the episodes during the day. It's already decided! Also, I'm excited about this drama and I really, really hope it's good.. that way I can learn to love the Hong Sisters again after watching last year's trainwreck, also known as the drama that shall not be named.

I don't do ghosty-type horror shows for just the opposite reason - I find it usually totally boring and about as scary as a Pororo fluffy. Horror shows like "Aliens" are more my style.

I have zero belief in ghosts and such supernatural things, but mainly because far too many of the plot devices rely on 100-year old themes, like a cat knocking something off of a shelf or jumping up. As much as I am addicted to K and J dramas, I can't recall ever seeing a horror genre that was particularly good.

As always, I will give it a chance, but honestly not expecting much - it kind of depends on how they play it.

Love the poster. Reminds me of the opening sequence from Sailormoon R when Usagi looks in the mirror and sees her alter ego reflected at her and when she turns around, her reflection turns to look at her with a smile. Definitely looking forward to this drama.

Actually i just finish "marathoning" pasta. Yeah i know the story line is boring. But i really love gong hyo jin and the hero (i forgt his name, but his voice is so sexy o_O ). I think they really enjoy working tgether.

I really love that first poster on this post! She somehow manages to look quite creepy which works really well with the overall feel of this drama.

Out of the two upcoming ghost dramas this one has definitely begun to capture my attention more I think, possibly because of the skinship angle? It just sounds like so much fun!

CANNOT EVEN WAIT FOR THIS DRAMA. After seemingly waiting all summer for something new to watch, I cannot wait for this! And let's hope the Hong Sisters deliver with something that won't be disappointing because I'm still not over how terrible Big was.

I have a really good feeling about this drama! I'm loving the teasers they released, and I would never think of the Gong Hyo Jin and So Ji Sub pairing, but they fit? judging by what I've seen so far.

This is the only drama I'm actually looking forward.

on the other hand .. glorious pretty hair for GHJ, this lady she's not the typically pretty girl, there's something off about her face or not .. but dfam she can pull off anything she wear . and rock it all the way ..

not much of fan of the gloomy SJS but will probabaly follow this while it airs for my love of SIG and GHJ .

Another observation: it will do the living a world a lot of good when cheap LED lamps are readily available. I bet the ghosts have a much harder time making THEM pop to scare people.

:D Yeah, that is what ruins so many of the (so-called) "scary" movies - cheap tricks like that. I could go on ranting for days about all the stupid plot devices used in most horror shows, but will wait and see if this one turns out a little more sophisticated.

Some movies are genuinely scary - like Aliens, Jurassic Park, Silence of the Lambs, The Descent, etc. But it seems like the vast majority with a supernatural theme rely far too much on stupid stuff like flashing lights, objects falling from shelves, slamming doors, and the like.

Those ghosts look so cool! I really hope they play up the horror element instead of just going full rom-com. It really would be a nice change of pace from everything else out in dramaland right now. (and it would give me an excuse to get my friend to watch it since she loves everything to do with horror! :D)

Here's hoping it's good! My expectations have been heightened, Show! So you better not disappoint me!

Btw, this is coming from a person who can't even stay in a room alone with the lights off, but the teaser looked so good I'll just have to bear being scared every week! >.< And if it's good horror, then it would help me build up immunity to the horror genre. Then maybe I wouldn't be a wuss when someone wants to tell ghost stories.
