Podcast request line: Ask Dramabeans
by javabeans
While recording our last podcast, it occurred to us that we have yet to really veer from talking about specific dramas in our podcasts. We do want to take some time to chat about things that are drama- and Dramabeans-related, but not necessarily strictly confined to a certain show’s plot or execution or world.
(Normally we’re so focused on getting through the shows we’re talking about that it doesn’t leave a lot of time to hit on other topics — at least without creating unduly long podcasts — and as much as we are fine talking for hours on end, we don’t expect anybody to want to listen to us for that long.)
Thus we thought we would open up the floor to you guys to ask us questions, which we’ll address in our next podcast. We can’t promise we’ll get to every question, but we can certainly try. We’d love to know what YOU want to hear, and see where that takes us.
So ask away! We’ll address your questions and comments in the forthcoming podcast, which we will record… sooner than later. Promise!

I have a bunch of questions that I'd like to ask
How much of the the actors & actresses is REAL? I mean in terms of natural beauty, is is it real that koreans are obsessed with their looks & have major plastic surgeries?
Soju scenes (the ones that are indispensable in EVERY kdrama I watched till now) is that a common thing in korea? I mean I often watch high profil characters sitting in shubby shops drinking Soju, how much of that is real?
The kissing scenes, sometimes they're hot sometimes they're not, so what's the deal here? is it the director's choice or the actor's? OR is it that these specific scenes are still awkward on national TV
The differecne in accents between Southern & Northen (King 2 heart comes to mind) are they like they sound? 'cause to me all Ha ji Won did was speaking with overcutesy!
The blind dates, are they really THAT common in Korea?
The over exasperation on the actor's faces while angry (lip biting, sighing), is this a kdrama school thing? 'cause sometimes they really loook fake
Who are your top 5 actors & top 5 actresses (now & then) & what are your favourite roles they played
Korean & melodrama? Do they really like it more than comedy or dramedy or even action?
The sence of humour between Javabeans & Girlfriday, I noticed you almost have the same, is it a coincidence? or something you both learned about each other in the process, I gotta tell you girls, sometimes I feel the chemistry floating over the page!
Why is it that so few actors speak English fluently? & yet they often claim their characters having an American background
Well.. that was more than abunch, so feel free to answer whatever you like

Hi Ladies!
You've made a few references to Buffy the Vampire Slayer in some of your recaps. As fans of the series, are there particular episodes that you find memorable? Do you have a favorite character? Season?
Thanks!

It seems to me that both of you have very similar taste in the dramas that you've watched, and generally agree with each other's opinions concerning shows. Is there one show in particular that has been the exception to the rule which put you on opposite end of the spectrum, where one loved it as much as the other one disliked it? If so, which one was it?
On a side note, I really like this site. I've only recently discovered it so I'm playing catch up with all of your podcasts, and am enjoying your articles and some of your recaps.
I still feel new in the K-drama lworld since I've only been watching them for a year now. However, I am completely addicted and am sharing the love with all of my friends. :)

Could you please discuss about the differences you see between the korean Dramas and the american dramas? How are the male actors and female actresses positionned at the end.
What are subtleties that non Korean can never understand? And it would be nice to finish with your own experience with a double culture.
Thank you very much and hats of, I really love you!
