Yoon Kye-sang and Go Jun-hee pair up in romantic comedy
by girlfriday
So this sounds potentially funny. There’s another movie on the way for Yoon Kye-sang (Phungsan Dog, High Kick 3) and Go Jun-hee (Yawang, The Chaser), who are both busy on lots of film projects this year. This one’s called Red Carpet, and will be a romance set in the entertainment industry, between an adult film director who dreams of making commercial films, and an actress who was once a “nation’s little sister,” a la Moon Geun-young. Well that just sounds like a PR disaster waiting to happen. If there’s anything that’s been there, done that it’s showbiz in showbiz, but there does seem to be a wacky sort of potential in this setup. Mostly I like both actors, so I hope the movie is decent.
The new project from director Park Bum-soo (Tell Me Your Wish) was selected by the Busan Film Commission and won an award for its pitch, and is reportedly based in part on experiences from the PD’s own life. It stars Yoon Kye-sang as a filmmaker who’s been stuck making adult erotic movies for ten years, while always dreaming of making it big as a commercial film director. Go Jun-hee plays an actress who got her start as a nationally beloved child actress twenty years ago. They meet and fall in love, and Yoon Kye-sang starts to turn his life around.
Oh Jung-sae (Men: An Operating Manual) plays the assistant director and mood-maker on set, with a rough and tumble exterior and an inner innocence. Jo Dal-hwan (Mandate of Heaven, or you might know him from Our Neighborhood Variety Sports which literally re-launched his career) plays a producer on set who’s a romantic at heart. Idol Hwang Chansung (Level 7 Civil Servant) rounds out the supporting cast as the rookie maknae PA on staff.
Red Carpet starts shooting in early July for a release later this year.

Golden premise, nice cast. If the execution is done right, that could be a hit.

Nice looking couple... I used to think Yoon Kye Sang was kind of plain but 'Who Are You?' taught me the error of my ways and I've been a believer ever since.

Nice to see these 2 pair up again for a story. They were great together in the 2003 drama "Crazy for You". I'm so glad that Go Jun-hee is finally getting a leading role.

This sounds good. I like showbiz in showbiz--especially when it shows that people in the biz are aware and poke fun or analyze it. Maybe, we'll get a bit of that here.
I also like the idea of the two characters working to break out of their molds--it speaks to me; I'm trying to do the same.

Sounds interesting. I love her, but too bad she often ends up as the broken heart one in drama. :)

Yay for Go Junhee and Jo Dalhwan - so happy to see him do well on Our Neighbourhood and get more work from the increased recognition! He's so earnest on the show, it's cute XD

He can take any role. I love him best in dorky ones. His brooding scenes to me, most times are just too hot to handle.

This looks like fun! Go Jun-hee did a terrific job in Yawang and it helps that her current profile is high mostly due to the fact that she's appearing on We Got Married as one-half of the most popular couple featured - (it must be due to all that skinship they're being allowed to show between Jun-hee and her 2AM hottie 'husband'!)
Looking forward to seeing this, hopefully with fast subbing.

That's weird because she has gotten pretty bad reviews recently on WGM.
People think they are too fake.. Jinwon is trying too hard to be cool while Go Jun Hee acts cute and chic that it's annoying the viewers.

Hmm, I like the cast, and I'm really in love with Go Junhee. She did a great job in both Yawang and The Chaser.
I'm not interested in the story at all, but if it's done well it could be a big success.
I'll hold my judgement until the movie is released

Yeah me too. Loved him in Best Love. I've always wished he got to be a lead in dramas but good to know that he is doing well in movie land.

I'm newbie in Kdrama and Kpop, I've seen a few celebrity called as 'nation's little sister/brother' in some reality shows/reviews. What is nation's little sister anyway? Thank you

A funny drama I mean! In my opinion, Yoon Kye Sang is one of the most talented, charming, and amazing actor in the Korean entertainment industry. And Ku Hye Sun is a well respected, beautiful, elegant girl who could be both dramatic and funny!! If they belong to the same outfit, this grandma is going to pray everyday to have my wish come true!!
