Song Jae-rim cast as Lee Jun-ki’s enemy in Two Weeks

Lee Jun-ki recently signed on to play the hero of MBC’s upcoming Two Weeks, and now he’s got his enemy: Song Jae-rim has just joined the production and will play an expert killer who’s chasing down our hero. (In case you don’t recognize Song Jae-rim in the above picture, you may recognize him better—I know I did—sporting the long flowing tresses he had as the bodyguard in The Moon That Embraces the Sun, and also as part of the posse in Flower Boy Ramyun Shop. Hm, lots of Jung Il-woo love there.)

Two Weeks is the new thriller drama from the writer of 49 Days and Brilliant Legacy, So Hyun-kyung, and puts our hero on the run when he becomes the fall guy in a murder. Complicating his case is the daughter he finds out he has, who’s suffering from leukemia. No word yet on why Song is chasing the hero, though I’ll hazard the guess that he’s the real culprit and he’s out to tie loose ends. Or perhaps he’s working for the culprit, just doing his job. Killing people and such.

I can’t say much about Song Jae-rim’s acting, in that he had very little to do in both the abovementioned dramas. He was just one of the rich boys in Ramyun Shop, and I always felt like he should have had a bigger role in Moon/Sun (like a loveline with the female bodyguard), but fell to the wayside in favor of other plotlines like so many things in that drama. He is currently appearing in the cable drama Nail Shop Paris… but the less said about that show, the better. I do think he can pull off that stone-faced scary look, as befits a killer-stalker-antagonist, so he does look the part. We’ll have to tune in to see if he proves to be a worthy foe.

Two Weeks will be a Wednesday-Thursday drama on MBC following Queen of the Classroom. It premieres in August.

Seriously! Every year one more show (at least) about That-Girl-Who-Wants-To-Pass-For-A-Boy-but-looks-too-Girly-For-A-Boy? The scenario looks so like a puzzle with parts from all that gender bender dramas that have been around before. Every single cliche that they could use, they used it!
I won't pretend I didn't watch it. It is funny in that "I am too tired to use my brain and I need some silly stuff to relax" way. It has one good part, though. Song Jae-rim's acting, revealed for the first time. I mean, he has the chance to act here and does it pretty well. He is, maybe, the only one of the steady cast that shows any emotions at all, that has not a face carved in stone.
I could have not recognize him, unless this post, though. He is sooo different without the complete hair transformation (Head and facial? Did he really need all that to change his I am boy-man image?) All in all, it is good for a before going to bed drama-session.

Yeah, Nail Shop Paris was one hot mess of WTF. But Songs character was fleshed out and adorable compared to the others. His character was strong yet awkward and innocent. I'm excited to see more of his skills.

He definitely looks better with long hair: Long face and angles everywhere. I'm watching Nailshop Paris and he is perfect as the Ice Prince. Story is... all kind of paradoxical and weird things.
Seems to be a good casting choice for me.

I just discovered Song Jae Rim in Nailshop Paris (picture above). I'm head over heals for him but I had to drop that drama cause I'm done with cross dressing heroines. Can't wait to see him in this role!

Lol his Michael Jackson hair looks better. I suppose it would have been a love square in Moon/Sun if they followed the book.
I'm not sure what to think about this casting. I love dramas where the villain is just as good as the hero as far as acting goes. Thats just one of many things I loved about "Giant".
I need something solid beside Lee Jun-ki to be really excited about this show.

Speaking of Nail Shop Paris, the drama is... um... hm. It's enjoyable? More of a crack drama than anything else. But Song Jaerim's good. Plus, holy mother of everything is he attractive. *melts into a puddle of fangirl goo*

The writer couldn't decide for a genre so it's everything and the kitchen sink: Cross dressing, mystery, fusion sageuk, romance, comedy, family, healing drama... The heroine is a writer with a writer's block: There is room for a lot of meta jokes. Addictive like junk food?

So true. My first thought as I was trying to puzzle out NSP was that they had taken various elements from a bunch of Hong Sister's dramas and hodgepodged it together going, "Yeah, that'll totally work. Why use only one successful genre when we can use them all?"

Nevertheless, drama junkie that I am, I just keep coming back. So...does that mean it's working? Oh no I'm affirming them! It's To the Beautiful You and Panda and Hedgehog all over again! Just keep coming back for more...

IMO, yes, it's a really bad drama. Not just from a production standpoint, but also because of the totally offensive way it dealt with a domestic violence storyline. Ugh!

Let's just agree to call it this:

WTF, Paris?

They've had a couple missteps so far and it's all kinds of strange but the strange is compelling. I'm waiting for Episode 4. I watch with my forehead scrunched going 'Really? Really' and yet I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.

It's okay for a fluff drama. I'm kinda enjoying it, though I wish they had bother to give the 1st male lead some depth. (He currently has no bad traits besides a coffee addiction, so I find him unengaging).

SJR is doing a decent job though.

I think he looks better with the short hair, actually. Less like a model and more like an actor and less delicate! I dunno, he seemed very delicate with the longer hair--not someone you can see in many roles besides a pretty-boy character. Now, I can see him in a variety of different things.

The drama sounds interesting and I hope he does well!

I am confused with Nail Shop Paris, but I stick for eye candies. Shallow noona is shallow, okay!

I agree about SJR's acting, his previous roles weren't so much, he was just there being hot self. So I am looking forward for this drama, especially if it's true that Kim Soyeon is on board. I love that girl!

"I always felt like he should have had a bigger role in Moon/Sun (like a loveline with the female bodyguard), but fell to the wayside in favor of other plotlines like so many things in that drama."

Thank you! The hope that he and Yoon Seung Ah would have a loveline was the only thing that kept me watching as long as I did...and then it didn't happen. I'm not usually the type that gets overly mad (usually I stay in the "mildly annoyed" territory) thinking I've wasted my time on a drama, but I was pretty peeved when the one thing I was living for couldn't even happen. I know, sometimes I expect too much of my dramas :)

Then again, this is coming from someone who is against all logic watching Nail Shop Paris. Not sure I would have ventured in had he not been a part of it...and now I'm sucked in.

Heeee Nail Shop Paris. That show is a ridiculously spastic Twinkie You're Beautiful knock-off (again), but I kind of love it.

Song Jae-rim is good at looking inscrutable, but I don't think he's too bad in NSP. Hopefully he can show some depth as a villain; those are the best kinds.

I'm ok with this casting decision, as I always was curious, too, what he could do, if someone gave him some actual acting to do.

But I hated Prosecutor Princess with a vengeance and I just realized, that the writer of 49 days (which was only ok, not great to me. And only ok due to Jung Il-Woo - come back soon!!!) is the writer of PP. This is a huge minus for the new show. LJK don't disappoint me! Please!
