Lee Min-ki turns into a cold-blooded killer for Monster
by javabeans
Lee Min-ki does have a certain loose-cannon intensity to him that makes me think he’ll be a fabulous creep in the upcoming movie Monster, where he plays a murderer. Just look at that stare. Shivers.
The movie centers around a girl, Bok-soon, whose little sister is killed by cruel and heartless Tae-soo. Bok-soon takes up a revenge mission against the criminal and starts stalking him, in this revenge thriller. Interesting way to turn the situation around and make this a cat-mouse-cat chase.
Playing Bok-soon is Kim Go-eun, a young actress who’s been riding a strong wave of buzz after playing the title character in last year’s film Eungyo. She won numerous awards in the New Actor category, but her performance was strong enough to also get her nominated in Best Actress categories. Oh, and Eungyo was her acting debut.
Monster reteams Lee Min-ki with his Chilling Romance director, Hwang In-ho, and began filming on May 5 in a small village in Chuncheon. The stills pictured here come from the first scene filmed, where Bok-soon first decides to enact her revenge and leaves home. Shortly thereafter, murderous Tae-soo arrives at her house. As scary as he looks, I’m not sure he’s got the edge in this case; I’m thinking the girl wields that knife like she means serious business.
Monster is scheduled to film for the next three months, and is aiming to release by the end of the year.

I am such an incredible wimp for all kinds of psychological thrillers but: a) the story sounds amazing, and b) Lee Min-ki looks incredibly hot in that first still - so I'm in. :D

Ooh this sunds cool...I'm a fan of the horror genre....I love the adorable Lee Min Ki but it wouldbe cool to see another side to him...I believe he can do ths veryconvincingly...By the way, as he is an '85er too, will he be headed to the army this year?

Nooo. I thought they had until almost 30? I'm an '85er myself - don't make me be 30 yet! lol.
I've loved Lee Min-ki since Dal Ja's Spring, and I really liked him in Chilling Romance, so hoping that working with the same director will bring about good results.

The "deadline" for enlistment is 29 (30 in Korean age). 85ers Lee Minki and Song Joongki have until next year to enlist.

Better paycheck, better conditions of work (blame the live shooting system), better scripts. Professional acknowledgement (including abroad)...

they are usually challenged more as actors, the characters usually have more depth (whereas dramas have so many unrealistic/exaggerated cliches that they must continually play: e.g. rich chaebol? rich misunderstood chaebol?) Also, better pay, more legitimacy, more experience working with film industry. I mean, there are just sooo many positives

Actors who have become Stars leave behind the rigors of filming dramas to concentrate on movies. Won Bin, Jang Dong Gun, Go Soo etc. don't make dramas for many years. Is Lee Min Ki now in that league? Just wondering.

He's never made another drama after Dal Ja's Spring (apart from that cameo in Shut Up Flower Boy Band) so I think it's safe to say yes, he is.

Actually, Min Ki did Mixed-up Investigative Agency after Dalja's Spring. That was his final drama before the cameo in SUFBB.

Pretty amazing feat, isn't it? To be promoted into that league of actors who no longer Have to do dramas, on the basis of such a short resume?

I think that Lee Min Ki is the first kdrama actor that really impressed me a few years back. I didn't realize then how many awesome young actors there are in kdrama land. Anyway, I am always happy to see Lee Min Ki in action!

This gal is one to put on my radar. She never appeared in a film or TV drama before(not even a minor role), with barely any acting experience(mostly student productions/plays), very little time to prepare for the role, and was still able to deliver an excellent performance in that movie.
Wishing her great success, with such great talent I know she'll go far.

I loved her in Eungyo and hope that if she ever does cross over to drama land, the drama will be worthy of her skills. I feel like if she crosses over, she may have to water down her acting to fit shallow personas etc.

I can't believe I just rewatched Dalja's Spring because of how much I love Lee Min Ki, 'loose cannon' that he is. His look is so unpredictable, nonchalant but piercing and I just love it. Totally believable that he plays a cold blooded killer. Can't wait!! *pucker* ~mwah♥

He looks hot. I will watch it. But I'm a little wary of the story.. I mean, how can that girl stalk a serial killer. Isn't that not possible? He can kill the little sister but not the older sis? He might not be the killer at all in this case..

In that last pic is that knife blood-stained or rust-stained? And she's staring at her fingers....maybe she's just stabbed him to death? Is that her bedroom , or her sister's? Ah, my head....so many questions, they torment me....

You guys should get someone to make a header that says "Kdramas: making killers sexy since the begining of time" because lets be honest next to broody shower scenes, kdramas have some seriously smexy killers. That is all.

Lee Min Ki is in it; therefore I will watch it. Simple as that. The fact that he is stretching his wings to play a murderer is just icing. I hope he kills it because I just think he has something really awesome about him as an actor and I'd love to see his full range. Plus I'm starting to think this will be the last project he gets in before his military service. WAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! :(
