Jung Jae-young, Han Ji-min in opposites-attract romantic comedy
by javabeans
Newly announced romantic comedy Plan Man sounds pretty awkward as a movie title, but it does offer an amusingly literal conflict when the hero — an uptight, planning-obsessed germophobe — gets his world shaken up by (who else?) a heroine who lives her life planlessly. Aw, the ol’ opposites-attract number, always good for a rom-com premise.
Cast as the film’s leads are two charismatic actors, Jung Jae-young (I Am a Murderer, Countdown) and Han Ji-min (Rooftop Prince, Padam Padam). His character sounds like our typical OCD fussbudget: He sets his alarm for everything and arms himself with disinfectant. She, on the other hand, lives aimlessly, although maybe it’s because she has no need to plan when her life is so repetitive. They meet, fall in love, and change each other. All while offering up laughs in what is described as a “human comedy.” (It’s an awkward use of the English, but human tends to get thrown around when we’re talking about heart-warming dramedy type fare, rather than slapstick hijinks.)
That’s about all we get about the plot, but I figure it’s enough for me to picture the clashing of personalities already. It’s an incredibly simple concept to carry a movie, but most rom-coms live and die by the chemistry of their leads, and I hope they’ll have some. Jung Jae-young has a wonderful presence onscreen, whether he’s being skin-crawlingly creepy or warm and endearing, and Han Ji-min can spark to life given the right role. She’s not quite as good as he is if we’re talking acting skills, but she’s winsome and charming, and if they find a great rapport I can see this working. I hope — I’m always on the lookout for a good upbeat rom-com.
Plan Man will begin filming in June.

Have yet to be disappointed by JJY.
As for HJM, thought she was OK in RTP, but her emotional scenes weren't entirely convincing (chalk some of that to the cliché filled writing), but really like her based on great appearance on RM (really similar to her good friend, Mong Ji-hyo - both are petite but have no qualms getting "down and dirty").

Wait! Phobia of unexpected + phobia of germs for the same man? Sucks to be him, lol.
Sidenote: Yeah! for the old cooking recipes, with a clean and modern execution. Maybe the heroine will be a pro at recycling old and dirty objects? Horror for him!
I don't know this actor at all but I know her. If she doesn't use her aegyo too strongly, she's not bad.
Hope it will be good!

I really like both of the actors and their characters sound wonderfully chaotic. I also like the idea of a human romantic comedy.
I think Korean romance tends to either be too shallow, cutesy and juvenile or then they go for melodrama and angst. I would love more down to Earth movies about more realistic and less soapy romances.
Which is why, despite disliking the main female character, I liked what 'Love 911' did. It was light, but not shallow, had actual human connection and healthy sexuality, but it was not overly dramatic or end in tragedy. It felt modern and well-made.
I think the genre is being handled by dramas so often that most movies simply don't try hard enough to make something special. Frankly, I think romantic movies could be a lot better than dramas are at the moment. I hope we get to see more nice efforts. Maybe this will be one!

I did. Very good movie. It was very successful in creating flaws in its characters which do not cause loss of sympathy or alienate the viewer. Excellent work, excellent cast.

Been waiting for HJM's return!
So if you think JJY is a better actor, he must be out of this world good cuz HJM is unbeatable imo :)
